Best San Diego Bars Serving Non-Alcoholic Drinks | Eater San Diego

"Lime in the Coconut brings open-air tiki vibes to Chula Vista’s 3rd Avenue. A lively, family-friendly spot for tropical drinks — boozy or not. The Coco Loco blends freshly made coconut cream, almond orgeat, pineapple, and fresh-pressed lime for a rich and refreshing sipper. The Dragon Eye is a showstopper, with pitahaya purée, black pepper syrup, and fresh basil over pebble ice, glowing in a deep fuchsia hue. For a more intimate experience, head to the hidden speakeasy in the back (21 and older only), where the bartenders are just as skilled at crafting mocktails as they are at mixing cocktails." - Kelly Bone

Tasty food from different tropic themed places such as Hawaii, Japan, Philippines. It was packed when we went there, and I think they were understaffed, but it took a while for us to get service (but our server was very kind and friendly and helpful). We got each of the three $7 happy hour items and they were all very good, especially the burgers. They were out of pulled pork. I got "mango sticky rice" and it had normal white rice and less than one bite worth of mango (the plate looked very pretty though) so I was a bit disappointed by that, but the rest of the food was great. Nice place and nice people.

Looking for plant based/vegan food in Chula Vista. The tofu bahn mi is delicious. And the signature lime in the coconut drink is delicious. Great service! Cool decorating. Parking out back! And near the bus line!

Stopped by for dinner last night to celebrate a birthday. This was one of the hottest days of the year. We thought to come here due to the large open windows, assuming it would be a great place to have a celebratory meal with a nice breeze..... boy... we were wrong! I mean, the food is great, delicious, creative and fun; the staff was so nice and attentive but.... wow, was it hot in there, like hotter than outdoors. The poor staff were all sweaty. Even though their huge window was open, there was no air flow at all. Turn on the AC or get some high powered fans, especially in 90+ degree weather! All staff was sweating. What if they sweat all over my food? When we mentioned it to the wait staff we were informed repeatedly that the owner refuses to add fans. We ate as fast as we could so we could get out of there! We practically ruined the menus because we all used them to fan ourselves. We totally would have stayed longer but it was unbearably HOT! We left and went to a bar across the street that has high powered fans in front of their huge windows. I would not recommend coming here on a hot day unless they decide to turn on the AC or add fans.... or if you want have a drink in a sauna. I would return during cold weather because I did like the drinks and the food was really good... but I am not willing to risk a heat stroke for it. For this reason I am giving this place a single star under atmosphere.

First time coming here. I didn't know that it was a speak-easy! Cool! Enjoyed the ambiance in the room. Our bartender was badazz! Tried her recommended mix cocktails. Loved it! Food was terrific. We tried the PuPu platter! A mix of a few bite sized things. Just enough to make you keep on drinking. Mos def will be returning!

I recently celebrated my birthday at Lime in the Coconut X Speakeasy, and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect evening! From the moment I walked in, the ambiance was lovely, with its unique decor and cozy lounge area. The staff went above and beyond. It was perfect, making me feel incredibly special on my big day. The cocktails were absolutely divine, especially their scorpion bowl with an awesome fire show to it. We also ordered different drinks like the Tangerine Dream, Saturn and etc. But there's one drink taht is really pretty in a 🐚 called the King Kamehameh. The food was really good. We ordered the Boa Buns amd the fish tacos. For dessert we got the chocolate lava cake with vanilla ice cream on top. It's sooo warm and goodness 😍. Overall, Lime in the Coconut Speakeasy made my birthday unforgettable. I highly recommend this gem for anyone looking to celebrate a special occasion or simply enjoy a fantastic night out. Thank you for making my birthday so memorable!

This is our new spot to come to after work for their fun drinks and great apps. We love the fries and sliders off the Happy Hour menu. Get the signature drink too, Lime in the Coconut, comes with a "show". We have had quite a bit off the dinner menu and it was on point. Christian, who has been our server almost all the time we are there is a huge part of why we come back. He is a great asset to that place. Always helpful and seems like he enjoys his job. We feel like we are welcomed every time. Third Ave is changing for the better and love to support local and not have to deal with downtown SD craziness when we have amazing places in Chula.

Our waitstaff person, Cassie, was amazing. She was personable had good recommendations and very attentive. I had the Tangerine Dream to drink and it was very tasty. My friend had a Mai Thai, which also looked very good. We ordered the Poo Poo Platter, Poke Nachos, and two things of the Coconut shrimp. I highly recommend the Coconut shrimp. The spicy vinegar sauce was amazing! It was really cool entering through the alley door into the speakeasy, which was decorated tiki hut style. I loved the pufferfish lights hanging from the ceiling and the vibe of the place. Kevin, the owner even came over and chatted with us. This was a great experience and I will definitely be back!

Google
Great food…but expect a different twist on things. Not your normal flavors but in a good way! Flavors like wasabi in potato salad just sound like crazy mixes but definitely tasted amazing. Strong drinks too! Will definitely go back to keep exploring the menu.

Yelp
Went here on a Friday night with one of my girlfriends for a quick catch up and easy dinner. We were happy to catch them during happy hour so that was nice in and of itself. Walking in, they definitely have the theming down. Its a beautiful island themed spot, nice and open, with plenty of seating and a bright bar. We ordered margaritas and shared the nachos with ahi poke. Our server was very sweet and made sure to check in on us a couple of times throughout our dinner. The margaritas were pretty yummy and we opted for the tajin rim. I wish it was slightly more boozy, but it still was delicious. The nachos were yummy and filling. I loved that they were wonton chips and the poke was nice and fresh. It wasn't a skimpy amount of fish either, nor a skimpy portion. I think my girlfriend and I barely ate a corner each and we were stuffed! I know this spot also has a secret little speakeasy that we didn't get a chance to check out but if given the chance, I'm sure we would have. Overall, a solid place and a great addition to the Chula Vista scene. I would like to come back here with my husband or even more girlfriends just to also get a chance to enjoy the speakeasy and a couple of their other offerings.

Yelp
*customer service was great * fun atmosphere *delicious options * great for big parties * parking in the back This place is vibey. Great customer service Vanessa was helpful and prompt. The food was tasty. Loved the poke nachos and spicy ponzu edamame. The cocktail presentation is cool. They have happy hour which we recommend. The beef sliders are good great portion to share if you are having appetizers. Definitely a must try especially their speakeasy It is fun and trendy. Cocktails are good.

Yelp
We went to the speakeasy in the back. Upon entry we were asked if we had a reservation, we did not, but they also weee not super busy, it was a Sunday early afternoon. We sat at a table and ordered the Mai Thai, Zombie and a banana flavored drink. They don't have a blender so they cannot make blended drinks. All of the drinks were OK. The vibe wasn't the best. I didn't get a "speakeasy" feel. It was all just whatever. If you're looking for a tiki speakeasy I suggest Idol Hour, waaaay better!

Yelp
They had a speakeasy pop-up during Christmas, so we checked them out. It looked like they were closed, but the entrance was towards the back. They had an inflatable Santa and Santa hats, along with tiki decor. We weren't too hungry, so we shared the pupu platter. It included some wings, coconut shrimp, nachos, and fried balls. It was a lot pretty good! For drinks, I got a mocktail and hubby chose the Sippin' Santa. The drinks were refreshing and came in cute mugs! Since it was in November, there were hardly any other groups, but I did run into a friend. I would love to come back when it's more lively and try their other menu items!

Yelp
Ate at this place for the first time last night. I had their salt and pepper wings during happy hour as well as their Mai Tai. Which were pretty good. I did think their happy hour prices were very good and worth it but I did notice an exceptionally long wait time in between ordering and receiving our food. At first I thought it was because we were a large group (9) and maybe that's why service was a bit slow but I did notice one of my friends ask what kind of draft beers they had and the waitress said "I'm not sure I'm just filling in for someone" and she did this quite often. My friend actually just got up and went to the bar to ask what was on draft. So I wouldn't say service was as great; also considering that there wasn't too many people in the restaurant itself. The service aspect was a bit strange. It's very nicely decorated. After happy hour we went to the back to check out the speak easy. It was nice that we didn't need a reservation and were just walked over from our dinner table to the speakeasy itself.

Yelp
Lime in the Coconut, located in the heart of Downtown Chula Vista off 3rd Ave. Street parking can be a struggle depending on when you go but, there is a parking lot located behind the restaurant that is free parking after 6pm. Nice venue with an open-air dining concept that can accommodate large parties with an Island Vibe feel! Everything about this spot was on point! From customer service, to food, stiff drinks, and the whole vibe of the restaurant! We ordered: Coconut shrimp - lightly coated with coconut (which was a plus), perfectly crispy and not overcooked Chicken wings (salt & pepper) - crispy outside and juicy inside, perfectly cooked and delicious Musubi (pork belly) - Oh My! Pork belly was melt in your mouth tender! Not all fat neither! It had a good portion of meat to fat. Definitely a MUST TRY if your a fan of pork belly. Vegetable stir fry - Could use a bit more flavor or spices but, perfectly cooked where there was still bite/crunch to the veggies. If in the area, definitely give this location a try! Enjoy good food, stiff drinks, and jam out to Island Jams while enjoying your meal! I had the pleasure of meeting the owner Mr. Kevin. He was very nice and very interested on our opinion of the customer service we received as well as how we liked the food. Tell Mr. Kevin, Elizabeth sent you. We will definitely be back for more with Ohana!

Yelp
Hate to give this a 2 star rating. But the food was below average and unfortunately, you come here to eat and this place was meh at it. It's a bit pricey for what you might expect to pay at another spot for the same food. The table ordered Yakisoba Noodles, Chicken Wings, Shrimp Tacos and Bánh mì. The wings were saucy. The tacos were a bit overcooked. The Bánh mì were overpriced and lacked a lot of flavor (I think they need to pickle the onions a bit more). The noodles weren't too bad. The tofu I ordered was cooked to perfection. So that was a positive. The drinks I'd give 4 stars. Came in tiki cups. Super tasty. Not a thing I'd change. They are up there in price. So I only had one. Only thing I'd change is that I'd have more offerings that doesn't involve orange juice. Felt like half the drinks had OJ in it. I'd give the ambiance 3 stars as well as the employees. It was cute and they were pretty fun to be around.

Yelp
Mostly went for the speakeasy. But went to the main restaurant too, and had a happy hour mai tai. Forgot to take a photo of it, but that's OK. Pricing is reasonable. I didn't order any food so next time I will. The bartenders and hostesses were great. And it felt like Christmas all over in the speakeasy. I'm going back to try some other drinks and that shot

Yelp
Escaping to Lime in the Coconut felt like a tropical getaway. From the moment I stepped in, the island vibes took over, slowing down time. The diverse menu, curated by executive chef Jeremy Galapon, offered a delightful journey through Hawaiian, Filipino, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Caribbean flavors. It was a vacation in every bite, a blissful escape without leaving the dining table. ‼Drop me a message and I'll tell you about what I tried or my top favs! Lime in the Coconut also has a cool secret - a hidden spot underneath where you feel like you're in a tropical paradise called "X." It's away from the busy crowd, a fun place for the daring, a cozy spot for the curious, and a special spot for those who love unique experiences. But remember, you'll need reservations to get into this cool hidden place. Meeting the owner, Kevin, added a personal touch to the experience at Lime in the Coconut. The customer service, led by an exceptional team including Lilly, Jules, and Cassy, exceeded my expectations. Their attentiveness and warmth enhanced the overall enjoyment of the evening. We ordered: Ahi Poke Nachos Pupu Platter- W/ hurricane fries S&P wings, fried musubi balls, & coconut shrimp Tocino Pork Belly Banh Mi Yakisoba Noodles w/ Shrimp Pork Belly Tacos w/ pineapple salsa Dole Whip Scorpian Bowl (to be shared) Hurricane (yellow drink topped with a flower and an orange slice) "X"(has a X palm leaf) 4th Times a Charm (monkey) Mezcal cocktail (personal request) @limeinthecoconut.cv 248 Third Avenue Chula Vista, CA 91910 (Closed Monday & Tuesday) Follow @wine.and.dine.with.irene for more unforgettable dining experiences!

Yelp
I went to the speakeasy: Cute cozy atmosphere. Music was a bit too loud, but that might have been because we were seated kinda near the speaker. Bartender was really attentive and friendly. The fried musubi balls BARELY had any spam at all in them though. But the cocktails were delicious.

Yelp
Came in on a Thursday afternoon for their happy hour. Friendly service, great drinks and tasty appetizers! The ambiance is great, very chill and relaxing atmosphere. Don't forget to check out the speakeasy X in the back

Yelp
Underwhelming and frankly disappointing.  I was so excited to go see Lime in the Coconut.  As a Chula Vista native, we have so enjoyed the vibrant food and beverage scene brewing on Third Avenue.  I visited twice.  The first time was on a Thursday for dinner, party of 4.  Our  server was also the bartender and she was curmudgeony out of the gate and slow to warm up.  Not a great first impression for hospitality. The huge space was barely populated and we seemed to be a burden as far as service went.  I think it has been said here before, the drinks take forever.  Literally forever.  We ordered two rounds of assorted cocktails - all but one of them tasted balanced.  The others felt like over poured or the mixes were too diluted.  Big bummer as Tiki is definitely the vibe.  We ordered the pupu platter and assorted entrees.  Again, something just a little off with all of them. Felt more short order than a pleasurable dining experience.  For Asian Fusion vibe, I don't feel Lime in the Coconut shined in any of the regional foods they have on the menu.  Our appetizers arrived well before our cocktails - thank goodness for the table water.  They must know...   The ambience, while sparsely populated, was a visual delight.  If you are not really hungry or into food, I would definitely recommend this as a great instagram spot - they did a great job with the decor - it is beautiful.  Take your photo - have a drink if you have time - and eat somewhere else. Following our dinner, we popped into the Speak Easy.  We were the only people there, although one person did come in later and sit at the bar (a regular).  The drinks took a long time here as well, and we all felt we might fall asleep as the low key vibe and long time cocktail making was kind of a drain for what we had hoped for a fun night out on Third Ave.  Of note, the bartender in the speak easy was way more friendly and chatty, but she ended up talking pretty loudly with the regular about how slow business is and it's like this all the time now... Not sure what that means for the future.  BUT - it was kitchy and quaint related to the decor- and it was fun to be in a cozy environment, even if a little awkward just being us. Not wanting to throw the towel in on Lime in the Coconut- perhaps this was just a one time thing?  Everyone has an off day.  We brought a party of 9 to the speak easy for a little birthday hang out.  We ended up with the less than friendly bartender - who seemed to be overtaxed or understaffed? Hard to say.  The drinks took so long, that it really didn't feel like a festive place for a birthday hang.  I would definitely not recommend this to a large group of people.  I can't believe they haven't figured out some fast pour options for their cocktails?  Or they have too many things on the menu that the bartenders don't have the recipes memorized making it a slow process to make. Again the food was fine because everyone needed a snack- but all agreed they wouldn't be back or recommend. Ultimately, no one wanted to party here. As soon as we could get the bill - we were wheels up.   I would say that the speak easy feels more like a dive bar than a cool speak easy.  What a shame.

Yelp
Cute Tiki Bar in Chula Vista. They've actually got a little speakeasy popup in the back that wasn't particularly bumping. Bartenders were super nice and we enjoyed the drinks but it was so quiet that we were actually whispering thinking we'd be too loud. lol a bit of a weird vibe. Maybe a little hip hop or EDM might liven up the atmosphere a bit. And this was on a Friday night.

Yelp
Attended their halloween speakeasy and had a really good time with my friends. We ordered the edamame, and it was enough to satisfy the table. We really enjoyed their shareable cocktails as it came with a unique bowl. Highly recommend this place for a nice relaxed outing. 10/10

Yelp
We had a decent size group come in tonight for the speakeasy. Kevin & his wife Christianne are the best. Being that its a midweek Wednesday night, for Our group to find a spot to have had an amazing time has its challenges, but they took us in & enjoyed ourselves immensely. Kevin & Christianne welcomed us & set us up with our own booth for our party of 10. Food was amazing, our server (Kassy) took great care of us & with parking being super easy & lots of it in the area, Im pretty sure we'll be back again. We ordered a ton of food. I particularly loved the Ahi Poke Nachos, & my Mai Tai... how could I go wrong. If you're planning to go out here be sure to make a reservation online. Thanks again to all the staff and the owner for having us tonight. See you on the next one

Yelp
A bit overpriced for what we got. Wasn't the best food. Definately had higher expectations. Beer system was down, drinks were a little overly sweet but I guess that's what you get with those drinks. Probably won't be back. There were other places nearby that looked a little more interesting.

Yelp
We were looking for something unique for our only night in town and we had a huge party! Everyone arrived at different times but service was very patient. The Mai Tai was good, not best ever, but good. I had the chicken yakasobi which was very nice.

Yelp
Came here super hungry after comi-con with 4 super hungry kids too. We first went to a restaurant across the street but they started playing super loud live music and the kids couldn't even hear each other talk. So since this was nice and quiet, mellow we skadoodled over here to enjoy a peaceful meal. Service was prompt, the restaurant wasn't busy whatsoever. The host was super kind and as our server made her way to our table she was great as well. The restaurant was super cute! Very aesthetically pleasing, roomy and comfy. We started by ordering an appetizer. I picked out the Pupu plater which includes wings, fried Misubi balls, nachos (you pick the flavor) and coconut shrimp. For the nachos we chose the Kalua pork. And this is where it started to go downhill the fried misubi balls had a good flavor for the breading but I couldn't find the spam. The wings had no seasoning whatsoever, and the nachos had some hot sauce we weren't expecting that was way too hot and none of the kids enjoyed. The kalua pork was bland. Sadness 2 of the kiddos ordered the moco loco. I was excited as my son has not had it before and I love moco locos. The plate was MASSIVE! I was like perfect! Hungry teenagers will be satisfied. But it was quite the opposite. The beef was WAY too salty, the gravy was pretty bland and the rice was crispy and too overly garlicky. My son's ground beef steak was undercooked and so were his eggs, the breading on the meat was also falling off, I tried it because I know kids can be picky. But I wouldn't eat it either. The other plate wasn't undercooked but still didn't taste good. I ordered the huli huli half chicken, with a side of steamed rice and vegetable stir fry. And more sadness begins. Well, the chicken was hard to separate the pieces, the skin had the right crisp but the wrong seasoning it was WAY too salty in some parts and sweet in others. There was no consistency in any of the flavor and I picked at different parts of the chicken. My steam rice was crispy. Steamed=soft, not sure why it was crispy. And the vegetable stir fry deserves the name of peppers stir fry, as that's all I got with the exception of maybe 3 ultra thin slices of carrots, and it wasn't savory at all. My other kid ordered Da Burger... one bite in and was done, ate some French fries which I tried and had no seasoning at all, the ketchup was sweet. Fourth kid only ordered French fries ‍ I really really wish this could've been a much better experience and if salty and bland is the flavor they're going for then that's a very specific audience, Hawaiian food isn't flavorless or salty though. I was hoping for some bomb food to go along with an awesome crew and gorgeous restaurant. $180 and left all the food, didn't take the left overs because no one would eat them, only the burger/fries made it home for some odd reason but it's been left untouched. It's hard to say I'd come back, I like the food I pay good money for to be good tasting too and this was far from it. Left me sad after a long day

Yelp
Wow, wow...wow!!!! I've been here when they first opened and I am not sure why I haven't been back sooner! This place is a GEM! They truly found their DREAM TEAM!! The FOH & BOH is killing it! New chef, new menu and ambiance has always been on point! Vanessa & Cassy provided the most seamless service! They have each other's back and that's how you do it! They really understand what service is all about- which is so refreshing this day and age! Anticipating needs and being so genuine! Thanks Lime in the Coconut! My daughter and I will be back soon!

Yelp
Newer restaurant down in the south bay and the rating overall is accurate for this place. The food is okay. Nothing that blows you way especially for the price. The restaurant is open to the street so they have those fans set on the table to scare away flies because they do cruise around the restaurant. The happy hour, is not worth it in my opinion. The food is OK and the HH price is mediocre in comparison to other happy hour. Doesn't really make it worth a trip. The entrées which do look good from the description in the pictures may be better. we did have a handful of cocktails and older Tiki drinks are packed full of ice and definitely not worth a cost. Definitely won't be coming back here for happy hour or the drinks. As I noted in my pictures whoever designed the bathroom needs a new job is not a guy. The urinal is literally inches from the sink in that bathroom is meant for multiple people at one time. Definitely putting the lime right next to the coconut. Overall would rather have just gone to one of many good Mexican restaurants in the area for food or a brewery.

Yelp
Oh goodness. Where do I begin? Service. Well, I called ahead of time, a couple days in advance. They do not take reservations so I told them what day and time my party of 8 would be in. I was told it prob would be slow. Well... it's downtown Chula Vista and summer is right around the corner. It was not slow. We were told due to staff shortages for the day we would have to wait an hour. I explained I called etc. my friends wanted to go elsewhere when someone else stepped in and said 15 min wait. There was enough room and accepted we could only order drinks at first. It took about 20 mins to get drinks. Then we were only allowed to order half the appetizers we wanted. That took 45 mins to come out. I'm glad we were enjoying each others company. Then we were allowed to order food. We had been there 2 hours at that point and my reservation for the speakeasy had text me. They were very nice to move us back there. On their website it said it was closed on the day we went so there was only one other large party back there and no one else. The host in the back and bartender were VERY nice, informative, and accommodating. Our food came out as soon as we were seated in X. We also ordered more drinks that came to us now promptly. Bao pork belly was soooo good as well as the Masubi balls. Overall, I would only come back for the speakeasy due to the long wait. The live music was very nice in the front of the restaurant while we waited though. I love how the whole building is open to outside. I hope this place can make improvements to its staffing situation because it has such great potential! Also update X days and hours online. Maybe open it earlier in the day for Sunday funday.

Yelp
I came in to celebrate a friend with a small group. The service was top tier, and the ambiance and design of the place is great, love the open design. I didn't have any trouble finding parking, but I could see how it could get challenging. We ordered a bunch of appetizers and they all were very good. I was very impressed. The drinks I ordered were good, but a little expensive. Overall, no complaints and would come back.

Yelp
The bartender is amazing. Anna is pretty and friendly, has gorgeous tattoos and jewelry, and serves us like we're friends. I get the sharable cocktail and every sip is sweet, a bit too sweet, but I'm drunk, so it's fine. We socialize about silly stuff and no one bothered me that I'm too loud - UNUSUAL! I get a buzz and drive home. Good night!

Yelp
Stopped in with my friend on a Saturday night and we were greeted immediately. The greeter was very pleasant and the ambiance in the restaurant was fun without being too loud. Our server was a total sweetheart. He checked on us often and always had a smile on his face. I ordered the fish & chips. The portion size was great. The drinks were yummy as well. I even got a little show with mine. lol. My friend ordered a dish that was way so spicy that she wasn't able to eat it and they removed it from our bill, which was great. It was a great experience. We will definitely be returning.

Yelp
This review is about the speak easy, sippin Santa. Group of us were excited to check out the holiday decor and have a few drinks. Well, the night didn't go as we thought. The place was pretty much empty which is no big deal. The decor was lacking. We all didn't like our drinks. I had the closest thing to a margarita and it tasted like syrup. Also, what happened to the holiday cups? Picture showed an image of a holiday cup and well tis the season to be jolly. Why did half of us not receive holiday cups to sip out of? Anyways, service was there but the place could step it up.

Yelp
This place has a cute feel to it, and it's quite spacious. I didn't get to enjoy the front of the house since I went directly to the back (speakeasy tiki bar) to attend their Sippin Santa 2023 event they had going on. The drinks were good, but really on the high end of prices. My friend and I got an order of regular French fries and sadly it took about 30 mins for those to come out. When I asked our server about it, he checked on it and told me it was because the kitchen was backed up. I understand as it was a busy night, but I would have appreciated the server being a bit more attentive and letting us know when we realized it.. the thing is I think he forgot about us. Regardless, it was a nice fun experience. I wouldn't go back to the Sippin Santa event, but perhaps I would try their food in the regular part of the restaurant.

Yelp
My husband and I ate here at 6:30pm on 11/3/23. I WANTED to like this place so badly. I only ever heard great things from people who have been here. I ordered the Spicy Ponzu Edamame ($10), it was terrible. It was not spicy at all and I couldn't taste ponzu sauce. I even asked our waiter if they could bring us more of the sauce it was coated in and it was just not good at all. I also ordered the Fried Musubi Balls ($15), those were VERY good! If I ever come back here again I would for sure order those. I highly recommend ordering those. My husband ordered the Tocino Pork Belly Rice Bowl ($19). His rice bowl was very tasty. The piece of pork belly they gave him was big. I ended up splitting that with him because the entree I ended up ordering was so bad. I originally ordered the Yakisoba ($13) with steak. Our waiter came back a bit later and told me they were out of steak and offered me the choice of chicken or tofu. I opted for chicken, no big deal. Man, the Yakisoba was such a joke. The noodles were so over cooked and the amount and size of the vegetables was laughable. It tasted so bland, I took one bite and was done. Our waiter was awesome, I did not tell them that I had an issue with the dishes, I didn't want them to remake them or anything. Our drinks were kept full, but our table was not bussed in between courses and our empty plates took up so much of the table. The interior of this restaurant is funky and fun. I am hoping if I were to come here again it will be different experience.

Yelp
Parking: free and abundant on a Sunday afternoon! Service: 5 star, friendly, fast, and attentive. Thank you, Francisca! Food: Very delicious, large portions. I enjoyed my rice bowl with Kahlua pork, garlic rice, and potato salad, and I have plenty left over for my next meal. Fried Spam Musubi Balls did not disappoint. Crispy outside, ricey spammy yummy inside. Drink: Our shareable King Kamehameha was worth the $25- heavy pour on the rums ;) Beautifully decorated tropical, tiki themed restaurant, open window seating, private booths, and bar seating available. All plates and drinks had beautiful presentations as well. The music was not ear-splitting loud. We were able to have conversation without yelling at each other. Today's mix was eclectic - Hawaiian, Elvis, 90's jams, Beach Boys, etc. Sad to see the old restaurant Mangia Italiano go, but Lime in the Coconut is fun, festive, and worth a try.

Yelp
Downtown Chula Vista has improved over the years. There are more food options now than ever before. Decided to meet up with friends for a quick bit and went to lime in a coconut. The waitresses were friendly. The ambience of the restaurant is very nice and tropical. We loved how the place was open space with the large wide open window in front for a good breeze. They serve mixed cocktail drinks. We ordered the sampler platter which was pretty good! Poke nachos musubi balls, coconut shrimp all very good! We also ordered Kalua pork fries which were very filling!

El lugar es súper agradable, la comida es deliciosa. Sin mencionar los tragos estaban riquísimos, lo recomiendo para pasar el rato con tus amig@s o una date

Yelp
Had to kill some time in the area so took my lady to have a drink in the Lime in the Coconut, Kris was our server and she was amazing! She steered us in the right direction for food and drinks! We weren't even planning on eating but we're glad we did. Poke nachos were amazing, and my lady ordered the "Lime in the coconut" cocktail and it was worth the price of admission.

Yelp
My friend recommended this place as it's local and we always want to try something new. The restaurant is decked out in tasteful Hawaiian decor that wasn't over the top or cheesy touristy. I liked that it had an open floorplan, with many live plants around. This place has an impressive Hawaiian cocktail menu mainly consisting of rum. You can even change out the rum to make them taste even better! Cocktail: Passion of the Tiki. Highly recommend! This was switched out with a tangerine rum, which made this drink bright and refreshing. It's dangerously deceptive because I was tempted to order another but I let the drink settle in, and it hit me afterwards. Hahaha.. My friend order the Lime in the Coconut and she said this was strong (and she can hold jet alcohol). Love the presentation of their cocktails. Food: Oyster Mushrooms, Vietnamese style. This was too salty unfortunately. We had to send it back. Mayb if the fish sauce was diluted a bit it would taste better. Salt and pepper chicken wings: I did like these, of course, hard to compete with the Salted pepper chicken wings in Royal Mandarin but this was good. Good portion for two people. Fried Spam Musubi Balls: Deep fried balls spam encased within. This was okay and very filling. Poke Nachos: This was my fave! I love the wonton chips which was a excellent pairing with the poke! The fish was fresh and plentiful, balanced on a towering amount of chips. Dessert: Fried green tea ice cream. The batter was fried perfectly and it wasn't too greasy. I would definitely return again to try other dishes, maybe the bao or the poisson cru. Service was quick and waiter was friendly.

Yelp
I have nothing but great things to say about this place! I tried several items from the menu, and everything was absolutely delicious. I love how unique the menu is--it's different in the best way. The drinks were fantastic, and the interior was stunning. Plus, the hidden speakeasy is such a cool touch. This place is a must-visit!

Yelp
Great service, delicious drinks! Went on a Thursday night, plenty of parking, plenty of seating available. The King Kamehameha was an excellent drink, great for sharing for two. Comes in a cool shell, taste delicious, and packs a punch. The fried spam musubi balls had a good taste and texture, but were lacking in the spam department. Sadly the speakeasy was closed this evening, but would not mind coming back to check it out!

Yelp
Had a fabulous time last Saturday on a date night with my wife. Reservations to the secret Tiki Bar in the back is the way to go. (Make sure you get the password.) Ambiance is fantastic, the drinks are on-point, the food is delicious, and the service is outstanding. For drinks, I had the Tangerine Dream and the Kingman Reef. The Kingman ended being a little bit of a girly drink, but I like guava and it was delicious. Tangerine Dream is dangerous because you can drink it really fast. My wife tried the Zombie, and it's a strong drink but I didn't like the overpowering taste of Absinthe. For food, I recommend the Shoyu Ahi Poke and the Bao Flight. Both were really incredible. Other patrons were also super nice, and they told us about the San Diego Padres Goose mural nearby. There's a convenient parking lot in the back of the restaurant, and coincidentally the secret door is in the back. We enjoyed this spot so much that we're going back this weekend with other friends.

Yelp
Great spot for food, drinks, and vibes. Nice ambiance/decor. Staff were very tentative (ie cleared plates as soon as they were empty, filled out waters, etc). We had drinks, appetizers, and got the same entrees for dinner (loco moco), and also tried some of the chef's creation for dessert. All were good except the loco moco definitely can use some work (it was rather bland so poured a lot of soy sauce on it). The restaurant itself is kids friendly. Definitely need to check out the speakeasy in the back (without the baby of course). Highly recommend this spot; we sure will be back!

Yelp
Lime in the Coconut is a fun spot where you can spend time with your people while enjoying some food and drinks. The Pina Colada IPA was refreshing and it came in a nice island themed glass. The decor here is dope too. I recognize that large spoon and fork anywhere. Cheers!

Yelp
I went here on my Birthday April 9th. Excited it was my 2nd time and my first experience with the drinks, food and service were amazing. This time however was overall so underwhelming we decided not to go back. I believe it was a Sunday not too busy. Drinks not that strong or amazing, service was below par, slow, forgot to take our food orders, food had to be recooked 3 times a simple egg no less. Really left a sour taste in my family's mouth but more disappointed myself and my girlfriend who couldn't stop talking about the drinks, food and atmosphere. Sad because we love your bar next door Groundswell is our spot but damn service was not good that Sunday.

Yelp
Updating my review 4 months ago! This place is a must try when in downtown Chula Vista off 3rd Ave. The ambiance makes you want to wind down after a long week and the drinks and food are a hit! This place is definitely a vibe.

Yelp
I wanted to love this place, bc it has an ambitious menu and a fun atmosphere. The service was good. The drinks were good. The food was mediocre. We started with the coconut shrimp, which were oily and the breading wasn't crispy at all. It fell off of the shrimp and was kind of gummy. It also badly needed some sort of seasoning. For the main I got the Katsu loco moco. The garlic rice was good, but that's about it. The meat was thick and tough, the breading fell off immediately, and the gravy had an odd flavor. I could only eat a few bites. My husband liked his main, he got the rice bowl with pork belly.

Yelp
I've been here before for their speakeasy...... however the restaurant is a cool little vibe. The decor inside takes me back to Hawaii. The service was great and the food was delicious.

Yelp
My friend and I went on a Thursday night. It wasn't busy at all and got seated right away. The ambience and decor gives you the island vibe. For service, I would give it a 3 out of 5. The staff were friendly, however, there is a little more need on the attentiveness. Our food came and we had to wait to flag our server down to ask for sharing plates. Also, it was towards the end of our food when our server came to check in on us. By then, we were in need of water as glass were empty. Food: Spam musubi balls - There were more rice than spam which was pretty disappointing. The sushi rice seems over cooked. A little too mushy and packed for us. Coconut shrimp - The shrimp could've used a little more coconut shred coating and the bottom of the breading was digging. The sauce was too watery. Sweet and sour tofu - The tofu on top were super crunchy but as you got mid way, there were too much sauce and the tofu ended up getting soggy. The sauce was more sour than sweet. The onion could've been cooked a little bit. You can taste the rawness of it. Tocino pork belly - I can see the potential in this dish. The pork belly needed to be a little more thin slice to get the crunch that it's missy. Also the Tocino flavor tastes more like sweet tangy BBQ sauce. We didn't taste the wasabi in the potato salad although the potatoes were cooked well. Garlic rice was good. Fried ice cream - The outside was very crunchy, however, there's too much dough and you feel like you are eating into fried oil dough. Drinks: We both ordered Passion of the Tiki which were refreshing. This is something we would order again. Overall, we would be back for drinks and maybe try other appetizers.

Yelp
This review is strictly for take out food. I ordered the huli huli chicken plate and two orders of the coconut shrimp. The coconut shrimp was soggy due to the sauce being dumped into the same container as the shrimp. The huli huli chicken was obviously burnt and did not look appetizing at all. For the prices, I expect better quality food.

Yelp
So happy I got to try this place, first off I love the decor it gave me vintage Hawaiian vacation vibes. The food was great and my mock tail was very good. I had the lime in the coconut mock tail, the kalua pork nachos and yakisoba. Service was great. Recommend and will be back to try every item on the menu.
