The 36 Best Restaurants in Mexico City, From the Splurge-Worthy to Streetside Tamale Stands | Condé Nast Traveler

"Tourists staying in nearby hotels, wealthy Mexican families, and couples on early-in-the-game dates come here for creative agave drinks, less well-know classic foods, and pre-Hispanic dishes with a modern and seasonal bent. Chef Atzin Santos favors seasonal ingredients and has a knack for transforming rare insects into approachable plates. Standout dishes include carnitas made with tender rabbit, a soup with foraged greens, and wagyu beef and fig tacos from the six-course taco tasting menu." - Naomi Tomky, Scarlett Lindeman

Google
A local chef recommended Limosneros and it was everything and more. For appetizers, we had the Mexican Duck Foie Gras with free-range duck, camagua corn, basil & elderflower, and prickly pear, and the Pulled Duck Tostadas made with bean, avocado, carpaccio, cilantro flower, and serrano chili. Both were incredible. The pulled duck was packed with flavor, one of the standouts of the night. For entrées, we both ordered the Taco Tasting, which kicked off with two croquettes (mahi mahi & Oaxaca) that set the tone perfectly. The taco lineup was unforgettable: Cuitlacoche Taco, Escamol, Stuffed Chili Taco, Al Pastor Taco, Wagyu Skirt Taco, and even a Sugar Cotton Candy Taco for dessert. Every taco made you forget the last one…each was that good. If I had to choose a favorite, it’s a tie between the Stuffed Chili Taco and Wagyu Skirt Taco. Both absolutely stole the show. A fermented non-alcoholic pineapple drink was served to refresh the palate between tacos as a nice touch. Service was excellent and the pace was perfect for a mindful dining experience. This place easily surpasses 5 stars. Every single dish was delicious. We’ll definitely be back.

Google
Limosneros absolutely blew us away with the food, every dish was creative, beautifully presented, and packed with flavor. You can tell the kitchen really knows what they’re doing. It’s a perfect place if you’re looking for a modern twist on traditional Mexican cuisine. That said, the service didn’t quite match the level of the food. Our dishes took a while to come out, and we didn’t get much guidance or recommendations, which would’ve really helped with such an interesting menu. Still, the experience overall was memorable, and the food is reason enough to come back. Just hoping for a bit more warmth and attention from the staff next time.

Google
This restaurant has several tasting menus: chef’s, seasonal, vegetarian and taco. I chose the taco tasting menu which has 5 tacos and 1 sweet taco. The food was absolutely delicious, the service impeccable and friendly and the cocktail and beer very good. I especially loved the Crispy Squash Blossom taco and the sweet taco - wonderful!!

Google
For a place that has been featured on the Michelin guide, we were left slightly disappointed. Our entree was beautiful but slightly bland. The cocktail we tried was very average. We ordered guacamole and while it was tasty, it was not impressive. We were also disappointed by the tortilla chips. They were stale and incredibly hard. We asked for new ones and that batch was about the same. For a Mexican restaurant, good tortillas and chips are a prerequisite. We hoped the entrees would bring things up a bit, but we had mixed results. The mole negro was just okay. What I love about mole is the mix of a savory sweet with the finish of a full spice. This mole managed to do neither but favored a strong charred taste. The only saving grace was the 21 day duck. This was a dish of the caliber we were expecting. The duck was incredibly savory with a delicious layer of crisp fat. Overall, a decent restaurant but we hoped for better given previous reviews.

Google
I had a late diner here and was once again very satisfied with every aspect of the experience (I dined in last at the end of '22). I started on the guacamole with sweetbreads which was easily the most generous serving I have gotten in this city. Next where the grasshoppers and giant ant eggs to top of the guacamole. Wow, they added a lot of flavor and crunch. I also had the oxtail topped by eel, an incredibly rich dish followed by the bone marrow. I was super stuffed by then, but because I had wine left in the bottle of Mexican red, I ordered a rich desert which just about finished me off :) Now, some reviews have called some of the dishes bland which surprises me. There were two types of sauces on the table, one green and one red, both very flavorful. This is what one adds to Mexican food to punch it up if required, just like one would add salt and pepper to Western cuisine. I often get some limes in order to add acidity here and there if the dish, the eel and oxtail for example, needs a "lift". The service was fantastic, especially my main server, who's name I didn't catch. They could expand their selection of Mexican wines a bit, but the one I ordered definitely was excellent. I definitely would dine here again but will order a bit less this time around :)

Please make yourself a favor and visit this place if you love and wish for yourself only the best. I was in Mexico for a short period of time, but returned to this place twice! Very unique and exceptionally delicious restaurant. Worth coming to Mexico City just to eat here again. The best octopus in my life, super delicious tacos, foie gras, meat donuts, and duck!

What an incredible evening we spent here. From the service, to the food, and intimate atmosphere- everything was absolutely perfect. Each dish was like an adventure and our seemed to evolve after each bite. Everyone was wonderful but Roy in particular stood out and made sure our evening was nothing short of spectacular. Highly recommend for a romantic night out or that special date!

Google
A truly outstanding experience. Let’s start with one of Mexico City’s best restaurants in a very rough neighbourhood. But this is how gentrification begins. The vibe is both old and new. Service is excellent. Now the food. Simply wow. A dish of duck foie, corn pearls and crackers filled with Mexican candy was a killer start. Bone marrow with warm blue tacos incredible. Churros with banana and sesame snaps so fun. The food is amazing. They need a somm to curate the wines as they are terribly ordinary compared to insanely creative food. Yelp
Absolutely fantastic. Great service, inventive menu (without being intimidating), cool space, and excellent food. The presentation was gorgeous - felt like an extremely high-end restaurant. Cocktails were excellent. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Luckily, we were let in to get a table for 2 without a reservation, this gets them a star. The restaurant decor is great. Such a charming, rustic-chic ambiance. I see they are attempting to showcase the best of Mexican cuisine with a creative twist. The food was delicious we started with the croquetas as an appetizer- no complaints. However, when it came to the main courses, the portion sizes were incredibly small. I ordered the mojarra, at first glance it looked burned but it wasn't. The mole is off to the side and there should've been more since Mojarra is dry. This was by far the smallest mojarra I've ever been served in my life. It almost felt like a tasting menu portion rather than a full entrée. The accompaniments were equally well-prepared but also minimal, leaving me a bit underwhelmed in terms of overall quantity. The avocado was less than a quarter slice! I would've understood if these items were part of a 10 course tasting menu but they weren't. This was my entree and it was as they say in Spanish "solo para una muela" which roughly translates to about enough food for 1 tooth. While it's clear that a lot of care and artistry goes into every plate, I left feeling like I had only sampled the menu rather than enjoyed a full meal. If you're looking for exquisite flavors and don't mind smaller portions, Limosneros is worth a visit. For those with heartier appetites, you might want to plan for an additional stop afterward. All in all, a memorable dining experience that just missed the mark in terms of portion size.

Yelp
Out appetizers were served with the kind of florish you would expect from a fine dining experience. The tortilla soup and and squash tacos were both delightful. We both ordered the same entree: the Cornish hen. After a long wait, one finally emerged. We were told the other would be out shortly. I told my dining companion to go ahead and enjoy while it was hot. He did not enjoy his -- he said the hen tasted mealy. We waited another 15 minutes for my meal to come out. A waiter came over and told us it would just be another 5 minutes. I got fed up and canceled my entree and asked for the bill. After 5 more minutes, a waitress came over to see if we would like dessert. Tired and hungry, I told her I didn't get an entree, I definitely don't want a dessert. I just wanted the bill. In all, it took me asking one more time and waiting another 10 minutes. The bill finally came, and there was no effort to appease us for the terrible experience. Nor was there any real apology for the entree that never came or the bill that seemed impossible to produce. In short -- it was a bad experience that no one who worked there seemed capable of fixing.

Yelp
Super cute restaurant! Pretty pricey but I see why they attempt an upscale experience. The service was okay unfortunately the kitchen took forever. Our server Emiliano is who saved this dinner. We had reservations at 6pm didn't leave until 9pm. About 2.5 hours for an eight course meal. Some meals had 20 mini waits between dishes so please come prepared to wait. I felt a bit excessive of a wait when folks who got sat way after us got their food first and left before us within that three hours. I don't think the course menu is prioritized the kitchen. The food was nice and had a cute local twist to things. Some of my favorites were the bass and parsnip purée plate, the duck was very good and crispy skinned. My least favorite was the langostin soup which had this overwhelming taste of frozen Cajun flavored crawfish which through me off plus it was salty. The soup with corn and in a broth was okay nothing too crazy tasting. Was hard to grasp the flavors but the textures are there. I'll be glad to be back but I want to try the taco course instead of the recommended 8 course they have. Cool thing is you can order Al a carte and share anything from these tasting dinners. Hopefully service is better for that fifth star

Yelp
Rising like a phoenix from the ashes to write this review 4 years later. :) I went to Mexico City with several friends for New Year's in 2020, and the entire trip was magical from the mezcal bar where we brought in the new year to the museums and restaurants, where I was in my happy place eating squash blossoms (flor de calabaza) every single day. I came to Limosneros with one of my friends from the group for dinner one evening, and I took full advantage of the opportunity to order dishes that I would never find back home. It turned out to be a sensational journey in texture, taste, flavor contrasts, and new food discoveries as everything was absolutely exquisite!

Yelp
My partner brought me here for a lovely meal to kick off our vacation in Mexico City. After extensive research, we chose Limosneros as all of the menu items looked incredible. We got a very warm greeting upon arrival and were seated immediately. The interior was beautiful! The waiters were very friendly, and our drinks came out quickly along with a complimentary starter. We had ordered three appetizers to start, and they very graciously spaced them out into separate course. The food was all so good that we ended up getting a fourth dish! While all of the dishes were amazing, my favorite was the beef cheek donuts - there was so much more meat inside than I was expecting and super flavorful, and the accompanying sauce paired so well. The tartare topped with chorizo was another standout dish for us. We both really enjoyed our cocktails - I don't recall what my partner got, but mine was the Canallo, which was a delightful peanutty sweet chile drink. I can't rave enough about the service. They shared with us more about the history of the building, they replaced our dishes and silverware between each course, and were always very friendly. We felt like royalty. All in all, this was an unforgettable experience. I will be recommending Limosneros to all of my friends who visit Mexico City!

Yelp
Amazing! Staff was great and explain everything even to guests with poor Spanish speaking skills. And even worse comprehension. The drinks were superb and we loved their focus on local suppliers of tequila and mezcal. The space was beautiful and an excellent location. Table side salsa was such a bonus. No questioning the quality of ingredients then. Menu items were unique and outside of what you might normally see. And delicious.

Yelp
Beware! Go somewhere else. My wife and I arrived to this business, made a reservation with the hostess, waited 1 hour only to be disappointed with the worst experience in Mexico City. They do not respect reservations, which caused a lot of inconvenience. When I tried to address the issue, the customer service was practically nonexistent. It's frustrating when a business doesn't honor their commitments or care about customer satisfaction. I would not recommend this place to anyone looking for reliable service.

Yelp
This restaurant is ridiculous. Don't waste your time here when there are much better options. They told us there was a 45 minute wait and that they would text us when the table was ready. We walked around and waited for about an hour and a half until we finally asked if we were next because we never heard from them. They took us to a crappy table in the corner by the server areas where it was super busy with servers entering and exiting and we asked to move since there were several open tables. They said no. Terrible customer service and highly, highly don't recommend!

A B.

Yelp
BEWARE! Dishonest & potentially racist, with mediocre food and questionable service. 1. Seated us at a corner table next to piled chairs despite informing a birthday occasion. Our table was largely ignored. Seeing other comments on explicitly racist behaviour, we couldn't help but wonder if our Asian names played a role. 2. Dishonesty 1: The server claimed a dish was unavailable, then served it and whispered it was "specially" served just for us. Nice touch--until it turned out he'd mixed up the names and it was a different dish that was actually unavailable. What an utterly pointless lie. Worse - despite us clearly declining that unavailable dish, they sent out a substitute chicken anyway, the exactly declined alternative lollll 3. Dishonesty 2: When he dropped 2 donuts (one on table one on floor), he removed the one from the table, almost immediately served one back and the 2nd was mysteriously never replaced. How is it that one donut was "ready" instantly while the other vanished into the void? Likely story: he just took it, returned it, and hoped we wouldn't notice, probably skipping the food team altogether to dodge blame. Lastly, the food was average at best, with the only decent dish tasting like BBQ sauce.

Yelp
This restaurant was recommended over other popular restaurants in the area. We popped in for a Mezcalita to escape the afternoon thunderstorms on our way to Historico Central to see Templo Mayor and the Cathedral. We wished we had eaten lunch here instead of El Cardenal based on the menu and the atmosphere. The tamarind mezcalita is one of the best ever.

Yelp
Having already eaten at Maximo, Entremar, and Merotoro - three other good restaurants in CDMX - this one was possibly a 4.0 for some dishes, but let down by some things, which resulted in a 3 star rating. Ambiance is nice - a little more upscale than casual, but this is not fine dining. Bare wooden tables that are industrial style. Service was OK, but not fine dining style. Two of the dishes we had were good: the beef donuts for starter, and the quail for mains. The white mole with the quail was exceptional - get it if you like satay peanut sauce, it's similar in taste. Two other dishes fell a bit flat: the seafood soup - too plain, not rich enough of a broth. So lacked any wow. And the wagyu steak, while a reasonable amount of wagyu for the price (compared to the UK), the meat itself was too dry. Portions were OK - smaller than the three other places we've been to, so having a starter and a main each is about right here. Pricing was high. I'd say the same level as the three restaurants above, but given that some of the dishes weren't wow, it then became a bit pricey. Plus, the cheapest water they have is imported Acqua Panna, at 130+ pesos a bottle....! Overall, you'll get at least an above average meal here, with above average service, and above average ambiance. But given the prices they charge, that is expected. So hence the 3 stars.

Yelp
We arrived at this beautifully adorned restaurant and were seated promptly. No menus, scan codes. Our server took our drink orders. They were more than gracious ( actually went out of their way) to accommodate " allergies ". The dishes well executed, savory, delicious The service exceptional. It has become one of our favorites in this trip It's location in the " zocalo district" made for an easy walk

Yelp
Located in the heart of the historic district, Limosneros has the perfect combination of a relaxed and sophisticated atmosphere and absolutely outstanding food. The waiters were attentive and kind, making recommendations and filling out the warm atmosphere. We split the beet salad on a spread of beet hummus, which was lick-worthy. To follow were the tacos filled with pulled pork and the absolutely flavorful sea bass on a bed of polenta and balsamic. The sea bass and beet salad were dishes worth a trip to Mexico city in themselves. Overall, delicious food, in a lovely and welcoming, city-center restaurant.

Yelp
This place was recommended as a must visit during our recent visit to CDMX. For a larger group trying to get last minute reservations it was a great option in lieu of the tougher tables at other top restaurants. However, it's a bit disheartening that everyone at the table must do the taco tasting so it didn't allow for much versatility in the dinner options. Some of my personal favorites in the taco tasting due to layers of flavors: the rabbit, Chile relleno and the pork stuffed onion. Due to texture, the blossom crunch was the best one. I wish there was a little more complexity in the tortilla. Some felt like they would sit great as a main dish with some of the delicious mole and salsas lathered on a plate. Cocktails were great and gave me an opportunity to try a new liqour, Pox, while still enjoying my cocktail and dinner. Ambiance is great with so much cultural nods in the decor. Great backdrop setting for a sensational walk full of flavor.

Yelp
This was our first night in Meixco and we had made reservations here. The hostess was really nice and so was our server. Not too much English speaking but hey it's Mexico, we knew enough to get by and there was another server who stopped by from time to time who knew a little bit more English to help us. We ordered 2 types of tacos and guac. Both tacos were really good! They had very interesting layers of flavor that worked well together. Their tacos are served in pairs, not a lot of food but first night in Mexico and we weren't sure how our stomachs would handle. The guac was really good. I thought they were going to mash it infront of us, but that's not the case. It came out nicely seasoned and had some chunks here and there. The "chips" were not like your typical chips that you would expect to get. They were like the size of a taco wrapper and baked(?). There were 2 styles of the chips, i'm not sure what the difference was, definitely a difference is taste and a slight one in texture, both were really good! Also don't worry about running out of chips, they will bring you more if you run out and still have guac. We were too full and saw the item after we were done eating, but they have octopus! It was on our list to try but didn't get around to it =( Next time!!!

Yelp
My wife and I had dinner here in mid Sep 2023. What a great experience. Top 3 dining experiences of the last 10 years. I've never really drunken Mezcal (or don't remember it) but they have artisan Mezcals so I decided to give it a try. The hostess guided me through selection and process graciously. The Mezcal was great with multiple layers of flavor and a beautiful oaky finish a few seconds later. This would be a theme. We had two appetizers. The Sardines and Potatoes were brilliant. The potatoes squares were lightly crunchy on the outside and soft and creamy on the inside. The sardine with the thinnest baked onion slice led to a beautiful tasting experience. The flavors presented and built on each other in perfect harmony. Second was the Braised Cheek Donuts in Drunken Red Sauce. It consisted of braised beef somehow roped in a circle and with a thin crust making a beautiful donut that when dipped into the light, favorable mole sauce was divine. Again multiple flavors presenting themselves in order and harmony. For the main course, I had the 21 day aged duck paired with burnt onion sauce, white chocolate / cauliflower sauce and some kind of mole. I know it sounds odd but it was super special and all worked together. Nothing overpowered each other and somehow the flavors come out at different times as you savor it. The restaurant is decorated in a fun and eclectic design. The staff is great. Bill totaled $210 USD for a couple for drinks, wine, 3 appetizers and an entree.

Yelp
Went here at the suggestion of my friend who's Come back twice now, every time he's in CDMX. This place truly deserves to be a star of its own, I know Mexico City is a culinary paradise but if all the impressive places I had the fortune to visit this place takes the cake. The quality of the food and service and presentation, rivals that of a Michelin rated restaurant. Here they use ingredients pre-colonialism, using what the indigenous ingredients of the region. The whole place is a work of art from the food, each plate or is served on, the walls, and the bathrooms and located in the historic district of is easy to miss but definitely not a hole in the wall. Be sure to order the soups because the presentation alone is a show in itself (make sure everyone gets different soups so you can try them all), then we had the Wagyu tacos, rabbit taco, octopus, quail, croquetas. And for dessert banana crème brûlée, sorbet, and chocolate tamale. Be sure to make room for desert and agua Fresca of the day!

Yelp
We had the WEIRDEST experience here. There were 8 of us, we had reservations for a bachelorette party. Do not recommend. The server who initially helped us passed us out 2 different QR codes, one with the Spanish menu and one with the English. We began trying to scan them but we were all having trouble. We asked him for paper menus and he told us there were none and that we needed to use the QR codes. He then immediately asked us what we wanted as an appetizer. Although he knew we hadn't seen the menu yet. I was speaking to him in Spanish and was responding to me in a very curt English. We asked him for some more time and quickly realized that the link to the English menu wasn't working. We let the server know and he said "yes the English one doesn't work, you have to use the Spanish one" and walked away. Two of us speak Spanish so we began to translate it. We decided to do one of the pre fixe menus and he told us that they don't have pre fix menus. I asked if we could do the "Menu de gustacion " and he said yes. I told him that was what we meant by a pre fix and he said "it's not". We put in our order for drinks. I ordered an "elote sour" he responded with "what is that?" I repeated myself and he said "what is that?" And I pointed to the menu on my phone. He shook his head and said they don't have that. I ordered a margarita and he walked away. Around 6 or 7 mins later a different woman came up and told us that they had changed menus that morning and half of the drinks we ordered were not available. The Mango Margaritas and Red Fruit margaritas were not available so those girls said they would just do a regular one. The new lady kept trying to get us to order the "Tamarindo" no matter what anyone was asking for so we ended up just telling her to bring us whatever she wanted and we would drink it. She ended up bringing us red fruit margaritas and a couple other things. The remainder of the night our first server stood about 5 feet from the table by the bar and stared us down, every time food came down the dumb waiter, he would explain the food to the new lady and she would come and give us a very general explanation of what we were eating and then try to get us to order tamarindos again. It got to the point where I felt like I was in a fever dream or being punked. Maybe there was a language barrier and things were lost in translation but I was SPEAKING TO THEM IN SPANISH. And they would respond in English. Also we were there for nearly 4 hours because of the insane confusion at every step of the way. Overall, really, really bad and unfortunate vibes. We spend a ton of money and expected a great experience. The food was really good, but not mind blowing and can't make up for the absolutely bizarre and uncomfortable and bizarre experience. We had way better experience and equally as special food at different locations. I just would not recommend it. Also ps. It was not busy and I don't think the lady that helped us was a server bc she described each food as for example"I will make it very simple for you, it is a fish cheek with a red sauce cooked very nicely".

Yelp
Limosneros was the perfect introduction to the vibrant culinary scene during my 2021 visit in Mexico City. The restaurant offers Mexican cuisine with a contemporary twist, creating a unique and unforgettable dining experience in a historic and grand setting. We started our meal with the Sotol con manzana y cocopache (IYKYK) sol and the Empanada de pulpo con mole, both of which were outstanding. The sardine dish was also a standout, with the garlic and almond milk emulsion perfectly complementing the fish. For our main courses, we tried the Veracruzana "Heirloom Tomatoes Veracruz" Sauce, the Cuitchacotle corncob, and the 28-Day Dry Aged Skirt Steak. The steak was cooked to perfection and the Xoconostle Pico de Gallo, Figs, Quince Jelly & Red Chili sauce added a unique and delicious flavor to the dish. The Lamb Chop and T-Bone was another highlight of the meal, with the Potato Lasagna and Puya Mole adding depth to the flavor profile. The wine and mezcal list was extensive and impressive, and the friendly staff was knowledgeable about the menu and eager to offer recommendations. The only downside was that the service took three hours, which may be too long for some diners. However, the delicious food and overall dining experience made it worth the wait. Overall, Limosneros is an excellent choice for anyone looking for a unique and contemporary take on Mexican cuisine in Mexico City.

Yelp
Hip happening restaurant with a cave atmosphere. We started with a couple different traditional Mexican spirits. Mezcal coyote and mezcal jabili were my favorites. For appetizer we shared the escamoles and pulled duck tostadas. Next, we shared the squash and skirt steak tacos. For the main course, we shared the Cornish hen in pink mole.

Yelp
Excellent gourmet food. Tried some great mezcals, and had inventive, foodie type Mexican food. Wonderful service. Would definitely recommend.

Yelp
The vibe in this place is the best part. It is a beautiful restaurant. The service was also wonderful. I came here with some friends on a business trip, we made last minute reservations and they were gracious enough to take us. As far as the food... the guac was great. I had some tacos (duck) and they were pretty good, but not the best thing ever. The entree portion sizes are not huge, so don't expect a huge meal.

Holy Mezcal. GO HERE. Literally stop what you're doing and book a table. We went here for a fancy date night while on vacation and had Alejandro as our server. We didn't do the tasting menu because of my (very annoying) peanut allergy but essentially picked our own tasting menu. Our server was just wonderful and made the best recommendations for us. The FOOOOOOOD. omg. We had the steak and chorizo tar tar with some cactus chips, the tuna and watermelon, the crispy scaled fish loin (my favorite), the 21 day aged skirt steak tacos, and the dessert taco with watermelon sorbet... I can't even express how impressed we were with the service and the food quality. It very strongly rivaled any restaurant I've been to in DC, NYC or Chicago. It's a beautiful restaurant inside and the hanging globes of mezcal over the bar and the way it's served in a little wooden bowl is just the most perfect finishing touches. Make reservations for sure and ask for my guy Alejandro as he really elevated my feelings about the place in general! Enjoy!

Yelp
La comida estuvo espectacular el camarero fue muy atento y conocía mucho sobre los ingredientes. La obras de arte mostraban escenas de la cultura mexicana.

Yelp
Super fancy and beautiful dining experience in the heart of Mexico City. The food was well presented and tasted very good. Big fan of their dessert.

Yelp
Mehhhhh. Again. Cool atmosphere. Nice service. And super average food. I tried the pulpo. It was honestly kinda gross. The salsas were mehhh. The only thing that was really good was the mahi croquettes and the fruit juice cocktail. Forgot the name. Overall. I would not go out of my way to come back here. And if you do make sure to only get tacos.

Yelp
Tried chefs menu and their wine selection. Perfection. Thanks y'all! P.S. I could write and write about everything we were asked to taste but you better go try for yourself :) Leaving two photos for reference.

Yelp
This is a mediocre restaurant pretending to be fine dining. The maitre d was very warm and inviting and we could tell our server had kind intentions. However, the delivery of service was some of the sloppiest I have experienced in 12 years of working in the restaurant and hospitality industry. It was obvious from the moment we walked in the staff was nervous and service was out of control. Dishes were dropped without pairings. Dishes and beverages were dropped with zero explanation of what they were. The expo came up to our table and oddly/forcefully addressed us about a dietary restriction at the table, which felt cold and inhospitable. I ordered a cocktail that was never delivered. All around the restaurant the waitstaff was struggling to drop the correct course at the correct table. The food was decent but the quality did not match the price point and the service was well below the price point. Again I believe our server meant well but he was clearly out of his element and improperly trained. The maitre d was very nice but the overall vibe of the restaurant was off and we would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Look at their Google Reviews: multiple 5-stars every day, it's obviously fake. Avoid this spot.

Yelp
For our last night in Mexico City, we wanted to try a nicer, upscale place and Limosneros fit the bill. Some of the other well known, high end restaurants were booked. Luckily, Limosneros answered our last minute phone call for a reservation. We opted to have one person do the regular tasting menu and one person to do the taco tasting menu and we split everything. Service was very friendly, yet classy. The time between courses took a while, so I would probably opt for a wine pairing or something alcoholic next time to just pass the time lol. There were lots of crispy fried bugs involved, but there was nothing that was too strange for me to eat. Because we split everything, I felt like I got to try dozens of dishes. My favorite thing they did plating-wise was that they served the tacos on heated stones! Everyone needs to do this. Since we were splitting each dish, this helped a lot because the second person to try a taco still got to eat a properly warm tortilla. My random notes: *Salmon tartare little too salty, taco with beef was delicious, and the red mole was my favorite *Langostine taco served on warm stone was really good, rabbit taco was fun to try, and the pork taco served with chapulines was tender and flavorful

Yelp
This was my first time visiting this restaurant. I will return on my next visit to Mexico City. The presentation of the food was nice, it was delicious. The team was attentive helpful that they waiter spoke English. I recommend this restaurant if you visit Mexico city.

Yelp
Service was excellent - the wait staff knew mine and my partner's Spanish was weak so they had their English speaking waiter to explain the tasting menu. Great atmosphere and friendly yet upscale service. Food was good - we ordered the taco tasting and seasonal tasting, some dishes were relatively weaker compared to the whole set.

Yelp
Fabulous place. Totally unexpected as we're just walking around looking for a bar. Place has a gorgeous ambiance, very conducive to a perfect dinner conversation, staff were more than willing to explain in English what menu was even though they have English translation. Food was wonderfully presented, and flavorful. Walking distance from the Historic Center.

Yelp
Someone told me about this restaurant prior to my trip to Mexico City so I made reservations in advance. This is an upscale restaurant and the prices a bit higher than most restaurants for the city but totally worth it. The service here was excellent and so was the food. I got to try the steak tacos, Lamp chops, Squid risotto and steak. I have to say all dishes were delicious and you wont be disappointed. They had a pre fixe menu which seem very reasonable to me but after eating our way through Mexico City we didn't have room to eat 6 courses. If you are in the area and are looking for a pretty place with great food then look no further.

Yelp
Incredible. They don't have a mezcal tasting on the menu but definitely ask for it - you won't regret it (note, the salts in the tasting all have some sort of insect but they tell you that( Food was wonderful. Had several appetizers and all were great. A gem of a place and great ambiance too!

Yelp
Not up to the level of hype it's built to be. Food average at best. Not the best location either. Many better places by far in Polanco area

Yelp
I highly suggest reservations on any night. Love the decor and theme. Very welcoming and warm place. Service was great~ drinks are made well and very unique. We had a complimentary empanada type of dish with potatoe and cheese from the chef. The beetle appetizer dish was presented so well. i liked how crunchy the beetles were, they paired well with the squash, cheese and cucumber all under. my only commplaint was that it was cold. i thought the cheese ball would have been warm. the rabbit tacos were unique. smokey at first, but the rabbit was tender and juicy. the mooshy, cold guac on top was an interesting choice. my star of the show was my squid and black squid ink pasta. for one, the presentation is very avant-garde. a huge round rock bowl is brought out, but a small hole is cut in it. on top there is a thin, round later of the black squid ink. under neath is super cheesy and soft mexican risotto. very unique flavor. at first i wasnt a fan of it, because i am so used to the italian risotto--but i truly grew to love it. its a must get. also, its very filling!

Yelp
I was planning to Limosneros for dinner but plans changed and at least managed to go there for dessert. We had the Mexican cheese plate paired with local honey, sweet taco and some wine wash down the desserts. They were all delicious - especially enjoyed the cheese and honey. Will have to go to try their food next time!

Yelp
Absolutely amazing food and so worth every penny. They were able to highlight Mexican ingredients in a way that respected the history and soul of Mexico. Please don't leave Mexico City without trying this place.

Yelp
Really beautiful restaurant with very nice waiters and good food. I would recommend it to visitors of CDMX.

Yelp
My husband and I ate at Limosneros when we were in Mexico City five years ago. It was a truly memorable experience and reinforced my opinion that Mexican cuisine had become one of the most creative and unique in the world. We went back to Limosneros this afternoon and, like five years ago, ordered the ten course tasting menu. Once again, we both agreed that the food was truly fabulous and incorporated native Mexican ingredients to create beautiful, flavorful dishes that are not available elsewhere. From the tuna tartare in a lightly seasoned watermelon broth, to the black corn mushroom, to the beef cheek donuts with a complex red wine and chili dipping sauce, and finally to a generous slice of perfectly cooked duck breast, this restaurant is undoubtedly among the best. Neither my husband nor I speak much Spanish, but the servers do their best to explain the dishes to English-speaking tourists like us. The dining room is lovely with soft lighting and a kind of pre-Columbian decor, but I have been so preoccupied with the food that the details escape me. The restaurant has a wonderful selection of cocktails and wines, including very good Mexican wines which are difficult to get in the United States. Limosneros is a must for anyone who is traveling to Mexico City and is interested in innovative Mexican cuisine rooted in tradition and native ingredients. Enjoy.

Yelp
We really wanted to like this but both the steak and the octopus came out cold. And the food overall was mediocre, and relative to the price, was a true disappointment. The wait staff were helpful and attentive but can't make up for quality of the food.

Yelp
Delicious food that is beautifully prepared in an old building in the historic district in CDMX. Service is excellent and my husband proclaimed the skirt steak tacos to be the best tacos he's ever eaten. As for me the fried fish was delectable even though it appeared a bit threatening. Great experience while touring churches and museums in this old part of

Yelp
Party of 16 with the Chef tasting menu. 7 course plus dessert but they actually threw in 2 extra dishes. Ambiance was perfect. We were in a private section upstairs for our merriment. Food service was impeccable. Wine service was top notch with the overflowing sparkling, white and red wine. Some dishes were deliciously new to my palate. There were bugs in some of the dishes which made it interesting and "lively". They saved the best on the last 3 dishes. The langoustine, lamb chop and duck were kicked up a notch. Their dessert was just perfect to end the course. We all enjoyed the experience and were totally satisfied after 3 hours.

Yelp
I stopped in on a Monday around 2-230pm in the afternoon and it was mostly empty. Had a mezcal cocktail, frijole soup, rabbit tacos, and a coffee for about $24 USD. Everything was delicious and the restaurant has very cool decor and a relaxed atmosphere, even though you're close to the hustle and bustle of the historic district. The service was friendly and attentive. Seems like the tasting menus would be great for dinner, but it's a lot of food.
