Line & Lariat

This bar/restaurant is in the beautiful lobby of the Hotel Icon. To start I had a Hush Money to drink and while it was sweet it was very good. I also had the Be Iconic drink and it was sour and didn't taste good. For food I ordered the happy hour charcuterie board (which is smaller than the regular one), and while it was good, it came with honey instead of jam, which just didn't work with the rest of the food.

I had a great experience at the hotel bar thanks to Jairo. He was incredibly professional, friendly, and attentive throughout my visit. His service was spot-on—very punctual and made me feel completely taken care of. You can tell he really cares about what he does. I truly appreciated the experience and would definitely recommend Jairo to anyone visiting the bar. Top-notch service!

Place was dead on a Saturday night, but it was nice to walk right in, sit at the bar, and get instant service. Cocktails were good, staff was great, handed us a book of building history, offered pretzel/nut snacks. Didn't eat, but menu looked decent for downtown. Would totally drop in for a drink again, might even enjoy a quiet meal sometime. That's another note, it's quiet; very low background music, no echoy surfaces.

Excellent spot to hang in downtown. Jennifer and Jasmine were behind the bar and were a delight. Made great drinks and were great to chat with. Vibe of the hotel and bar are second to none.

Always a 10/10 experience here at Line & Lariat inside the Hotel Icon. This is my go-to hotel whenever I am on a business trip and this restaurant/bar is a big reason for that! Always top-notch service from the bartenders here, especially Jairo! He has served me on numerous occasions and is always on top of it. Great selection of drinks and a great food menu.

👍 The bar and restaurant is located inside Hotel Icon, which is conveniently located in Historic Downtown Houston. 👎 Links leading to Line & Lariat are broken on the hotel's website, and there doesn't appear to be an easy way to acquire menu information using the website. 👍 No reservation is needed, and walk-in customers are welcome. 👍 They serve a meat and cheese plate that is great for sharing. 👍 The best drink I sampled is semi-sweet and presented with a smoky layer (pictured). The smoke adds flavor, which brings forth memories of camping in the woods. Unfortunately, I can't recall the name and it's not on any of the menus available on 3rd-party websites.

We enjoy our experience with bartenders Jennifer & Jairo tonight at L&L. Their service was perfect and engaging . The expresso martini was amazing! And we even got a little history lesson over the hotel.

Let me start off by saying that the Line & Lariat is definitely a spot to hit while you are in Houston. Based inside the Historic Hotel Icon as the hotels premier bar and restaurant, I can tell you that the service is amazing and the food and drinks are really good. Jaito and Jennifer take really good care of you at the bar and the restaurant staff are superb as well. Ask them to pull the big book dedicated to the history of the hotel. If your first reaction when you hear "I had dinner at the hotel bar" is "Ugh!" you'd be right about 90% of the time. Line & Lariat, however, is the exception to the rule! First, and most importantly, the staff, Jennifer & Jasmine, are friendly, knowledgeable and welcoming. I don't care how good a restaurant's food is, if their staff doesn't set the right tone, the entire restaurant is guaranteed to leave a bad taste in my mouth. These guys, and the expiditer/busser as well, were quite simply wonderful. The food also happens to be excellent and reasonably priced! I had fish and chips, which is very easy to make poorly. Line & Lariot, however, knocked it out of the park! The chocolate cake was also perfection, which was another nice surprise. (I once managed a similar restaurant downtown - Culpepper's in the early 90's, and I waited tables at Tony's in the late 80's, so my expectations are exceedingly high when it comes both to staff training and food). The Hotel Icon is a special, and beautiful, hotel I've loved since its incredible grand opening about 20-years ago. Line & Lariat more than earns its place in the hotel's elegant lobby. Line & Lariat is the perfect spot for drinks and a bite before and/or after the theatre.

We had no food, but loved that they had depression Era drinks menu currently. I finally settled on the Bees Knees, it was sublime. The place looks amazing, they had a giant leather bound photo album that included a "before" picture. Our bartender was so much fun!

Really yummy food! I stayed here at the hotel for a few nights during a business trip and ordered several different meals throughout my stay. Everything was honestly so delicious. Service was above and beyond. Jennifer was amazing and so funny!

I cannot say enough about the service and quality of food! The ambiance is so relaxing and welcoming. Our server Driss made us feel so welcome and went out of his way to be sure our needs were being met. We will definitely be back!

Jasmine She was incredible. Is this spot even considered top 5 downtown Houston??? Because it should be. Love the hotel and bar. Glad we picked this spot and will come back!!

Jairo was the bartender when I visited. Let me tell you, he was kind, warm, and considerate. He didn't mind when I asked him about what the drinks had. I told him I didn't want to mix alcohol and he managed to make my drinks with the same liquor to fulfill my request. I felt safe and cared for during my interactions with Jairo.

I stay at the Hotel Icon every year now for over 2 decades and I have always found the breakfast at Line & Lariat to be excellent. There are a few servers who have been there for many years. I look forward to seeing them each year. They are great people and very attentive to your needs. Driss is one in particular that is so friendly and seems to read your mind about what you will need. The food is excellent and there is always plenty to go around in the buffet for breakfast. I would highly recommend it. And the ambience is very cool. It is sort of retro post art deco.

I had dinner and it was very good. Fresh ingredients. The sauce was wonderful. Very relaxing atmosphere and nice music in the dining area.

10/10! We are staying at the hotel and decided to have a drink at the bar. It was exceptional and so we decided to try the food as opposed to going to one of our downtown staples. Best decision. The Barbacoa nachos and the charcuterie board were sooo good. The guy next to us had a steak salad and truffle fries and said they were delicious as well. Do yourself a favor and order the Ma Berry - one of the best drinks I've ever had. Jairo was our bartender and was 10/10 as well.

Jennifer served me my first ever old fashioned for my 53rd birthday and it and the service was amazing!

Jennifer is that bartender--welcoming, quick with a drink, and even quicker with a good vibe. She made us feel like regulars even though it was our first time. Her attention to detail, fun energy, and ability to keep the bar flowing smoothly were top-tier. Definitely the kind of person who makes you want to come back. Such a great feature in the Icon Hotel. Stopped in for a quick drink and dessert and Jennifer was so fun. She shared the history of the hotel, served great drinks, and made our experience that much better. I highly recommend a visit.

Jennifer & Jairo were great! We got the background of the hotel and excellent drinks.

Buffett breakfast was great with special order eggs available. Driss is a fantastic waiter providing pleasant and excellent service. We also had Dinner at the Bar with Jennifer taking care of us. She is friendly, attentive and the drinks were awesome. I'd recommend the Egg Rolls, and the Empanadas for appetizers and the Fish and Chips and Burgers for mains.

Jasmine and Jennifer, "Jenny" were phenomenal! They were so welcoming, kind, and helpful. Had lunch at the restaurant and then had an after-dinner drink. They helped us pick out great drinks. We had a low blood sugar hours later (diabetic) and as they were closing, I had to run down and get juice in an Emergency because we didn't have any with us. They immediately ran and got a coke and poured us juices, in the middle of the night and didn't require a charge-they said "don't worry I got you!" Best bar service I've had at a hotel. Friendly lovely people! thanks Jen and Jasmine!

Jennifer and Jairo are the absolute best. The drinks were great and the service was even better.

So I'm vegan and was in need of specific soup. Luckily, the staff here was extremely accommodating. Alexis at guest services promptly connected me with Jennifer who able to help me source the soups, warm them and spice them up to perfection. It's really the little things that go miles. Made this vegan very very happy! :)

Had dinner twice at the hotel restaurant during my stay. Both the steak salad and seared salmon dishes were prepared well, with the right flavor and texture, Pleasant overall ambiance and great service. Really enjoyed my interaction with Jairo, manning the bar.

This is our second time to have breakfast here and the food is really good! Driss served us and he was very attentive. We highly recommend Line & Lariat. it's a beautiful place with much history, too!
