The 21 Best Restaurants In The North Fork - Long Island - The Infatuation

"If you want to sit outside for lunch and eat things on the half-shell, it doesn’t get much better than Little Creek. And while they have a full menu of cooked stuff, you’re really coming here for trays of clams and oysters and buckets of beer. The best seats are outside on the gravel patio where you can watch yachts pull in from the Caribbean or Florida, as well as the fishermen who drop off those oysters and clams. If the kids get a little antsy, you can walk to the nearby green lawn space or the carousel and count how many times the ferry comes and goes from Shelter Island in the distance." - sal vaglica

7 Best Day Trips from New York City

"This nautical oyster hideout by the docks is tiny, popular, and fun, known for its slogan, “Shuck Your Self.” New Englanders and anyone else who grew up shucking their own oysters will delight that it’s half-price here ($20 versus $36 for a pre-shucked dozen) if you do so. If you don’t know where to start, someone will teach you. Oysters here are divine, since this restaurant is part of a local collective working with dozens of individual farmers and harvesters. If you’re here from The City, the wine prices by the bottle might make you a little weak-kneed. Pull yourself together and order a classic oyster pairing: Muscadet, Champagne, or—yes, it works—chocolatey Oyster Stout from Greenport Brewing." - Alex Van Buren, Andrea Whittle, Devra Ferst

Google
One of the best restaurants on the north fork. Super lowkey. Get a dirty gin martini and the Goodnight Irene anchovies. Dozen oysters.

Google
Oysters were delicious. My girlfriend likes them buttery, I like them briney. The ceviche was incredible. Building itself is beautiful!

Google
I have been wanting to try this place ever since we planned a stay in Greenport. And it did not disappoint. Everything I ordered was delicious including the Macari wine. It's a very laid-back place (new location) & I can't wait to go back. Got some stickers too for my hydroflasks!

Google
Do not sleep on this place, go for the food, stay for the oyster education and great atmosphere. I love an intentional experience and Little Creek delivers in spades. #giveadamn

Google
The new building has the same charm and feels like home! The food and people are great as always. We stopped in for lunch and I had a solid 18 oysters… I could have easily had another dozen, they are so good. Definitely check it out.

Google
Awesome, cozy bar with fantastic Oysters. Great small food menu selection. The new space is phenomenal and it feels like they’ve been there for years. They make you feel like a regular even if it’s your first time in.

Google
This is my favorite place for fresh oysters, amazing drinks, and great outdoor seating. Staff is super friendly and they are fast (not in a rushing way but they keep the momentum of orders and drinks flowing). I typically hate sitting at bars but the shucking bar was fun. The guys shucking were funny and pros. They didn’t have the king crab legs when we went for the first time this season but the variety of oysters made up for it. Definitely try 2-3 of each. Their clams are amazing too! They had this Smokey and salty after taste to them that kept me going back for more. Their cocktails are delicious and boozy. They did change up the drink menu a bit from last summer and it was pretty cool to see a diff selection. I love it when places that I frequent, keep things fresh and new. Definitely try the Negroni. Best one I’ve had. I do wish they had dirty martinis though. Price wise, it’s fair in a good way…especially for its location. We’ve paid more per oyster at other establishments within the area and they aren’t as good as these. I’ve never had an oyster shoot and if you haven’t either, I definitely recommend getting one from here. We chose tequila from the options provided. Just do it. You won’t regret it.

Google
I love a little oyster shack in a marina! Super casual atmosphere which is just what you want on a Sunday evening in August. The mango ceviche was sold out but the green aguachile was good but really spicy!!! The oysters? Oh wow. The absolute best!!

Yelp
Delicious seafood and snacks in Greenport. Great local oysters with a variety of flavor profiles from mild and sweet to high salinity. Friendly service in a comfortable, relaxing space. Would pass on the hot dog - it's fine but the seafood is what shines.

Yelp
A cute place for seafood eats. Our server was amazing in helping us decide on what to eat. She picked out our oysters selection which were fresh and so good. We love hamachi kama and decided on the hamachi carnitas. Our bill said it was tuna so not sure now which fish. But when it arrived it was amazing. It said it fed 3-4. They gave us a smaller collar since only two of us but amazing! Served with sauces and tortillas. We ate most of it without the tortillas. Fish was cooked perfectly. I like to eat the skin but apparently they don't scale the piece so just had the inner meat. Clam chowder was amazing as well. Looks like a small cup but chock full of goodies in the bottom.

Yelp
The oysters here are hands-down the best I've ever had--fresh, briny, and perfectly shucked. Do not miss the crab roll sliders--they're buttery, flavorful, and totally addictive. The vibe is relaxed yet lively, and the service is warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly. One of my favorite spots in town!

Yelp
Loved my experience at Little Creek Oyster! Still dreaming about that montauk shrimp and Icelandic hot dog! Highly recommend!

Yelp
I had one of the best IPAs here on draft: Little Creek Marine Layer IPA. It wasn't too fruity, too bitter. It was just right with a hint of the wheat taste I love. My husband ended up switching from prosecco to also getting the IPA after he tried mine. We sat at the bar and I noticed that the bartender tasted and then threw out the prosecco which seemed to have gone a bit flat. She started my husband off with a new bottle. Little things like this matter! We ordered the crab bao special, clam chowder, and a bunch of oysters. Everything was great but our favorite oysters were the Violet Coves. Not overly salty or too gummy - again, just right! They were grown by the only woman oyster farmer I saw on the menu as well, who happens to be a former WNBA basketball player: Sue Wicks. We ended up getting another round of Violet Coves. The clam chowder was my second favorite - who can pass up a good clam chowder - and they didn't skimp on the seafood inside, which was nice to discover.

Yelp
Cute oyster bar with outdoor seating. My friends liked the oysters. I had a hotdog and It was good. I'd go back.

Yelp
My gf took me here and I absolutely fell in love with this. This is her favorite restaurant in Greenpoint and I can see why. Fresh oysters are delicious and the grilled oysters! I haven't had anything like that since Nola! This place is an absolute must when in greenport!

Yelp
We had an 8 person party on the Sunday before Labor Day. The wait was 45 mins which was OK, we shopped around. FOOD: We ordered both raw and grilled oysters for the table. The group favorite was the pesto grilled oysters, so we got another round of pesto-only. For the Crab Claws, the serving had one claw for each of us, and each was tiny! The BBQ Shrimp was decent - It smelled better than it tasted. The Mango Fluke Ceviche was also fine. We didn't order any of the dips because friends said they weren't good. The chairs were kind of uncomfortable, and there wasn't a single option for the one vegetarian in our party. I'd prob give this 3 stars if it weren't for the great the outdoor vibes/ambiance -- going with 4.

Emily S.

Yelp
The food was impeccable, and even though this doesn't give family friendly vibes, the staff was amazingly accommodating. We originally ordered to go because our toddler has been a nightmare at restaurants and when we asked about having a beer while we waited the host/server was basically like "well all your food is ready do you want to eat it here instead?" It was really nice because we've been struggling with her and this made it so low pressure. Cannot stress enough how accommodating everyone was. Food was amazing - chowder, raw oyster sampler, potatoes, and a special gochujang grilled oyster - all fantastic. The house beers are great too!

Yelp
Amazing experience and great waterfront location. We got the shuck-your-own oysters. The staff was so friendly and helpful in teaching us how to shuck the oysters. They came around several times after the initial lesson to check in on how we were doing with the shucking and were very encouraging when I had trouble opening some up. We also got the mango ceviche which was so flavorful and a great appetizer to share. We loved our experience here!

Yelp
What a cute spot! We had a great girls night there. Wine list is small but good. We split a bottle of rose and then feasted on oysters. The oyster menu was great and changes. Oysters were fresh and well Shucked- not gritty at all. There were 3 of us so we ended up at a communal table and hung out with another group. We loved the shady/tree lined patio area. Service was rather slow by pleasant. It's ok though since we were hanging out on the sunny. Day.

Chris ..

Yelp
It's a good place with a limited menu. If you want anything other than oysters and hot dogs, you might need another place.
google avatar

Jen L.

Yelp
Great for people watching. Pretty spectacular local oysters. We tried other things but I would say oysters are the star here. Service was great and friendly. Enjoyed gossiping with us!
google avatar

Jennifer H.

Yelp
What a quaint not-so-hidden gem! My friend has raved about this place forever and we finally got to go last night on one of the most unseasonably warm fall days and just wow. The ciderita was perfection. The grilled oyster trio was phenomenal and the sausage and andouille soup was a liiiitle too spicy for me, but she finished it off. Will absolutely be back!
google avatar

Lou D.

Yelp
Absolute 5 plus plus plus This is by far the top oyster spot in the region. The atmosphere is comfortable, nautical and casual in a converted waterfront bait shack. The perfect setting. A nice selection of local beers and super Bloody Marys. They have the very best selection and variety of locally farmed oysters. They oysters come direct from the farmers. This is a true "farm to table" and "dock to dine" experience. The owner is an oyster farmer, so he really knows oysters! There are some great oyster options, from raw half shells, to a variety of grilled oysters, to you-shucks. The seafood tower is great way to have a nice variety of oysters, hard shell clams, shrimp, and usually some white fish salad or premium sardines or other seafood treat. We have been customers here for years and highly highly recommend Little Creek. We will return again and again.

Yelp
Friday at 7:30pm We waited not even 10 minutes to get noticed and seated by the outdoor bar in front of Jonathan , who I found friendly and entertaining. Loved the ambiance ( it's outdoors and it wasn't as hot ) . A very busy place that focuses on oysters from different parts ny . We had both fresh and baked ones . My friends could ratio raving about the freshly made/ baked baguette to accompany the baked oysters to scoop out the delicious sauce ( they love the one with prosciutto and pesto ). Being a carnivore I couldn't trying the hotdog which side didn't disappoint . This a place so a must bust when visiting greenport to chill!

Yelp
This little gem is an absolute home-run! What a perfect spot to eat fresh clams and oysters while having a drink either inside or out. Not fancy in any way, you feel like you would anywhere from Maine to Boston or the island to enjoy some fresh mollusks. We came for some apps before our upcoming dinner reservations nearby and we were so pleased we did. The shucker meister explained which oysters were which and while we intended to eat a dozen clams and a dozen oysters between the four of us, we opted for another dozen oysters with no regrets. I promise you wont be disappointed.

Isabel C.

Yelp
Super fresh oysters! We got there right at 5 and there was a line already. Friendly staff and cute little spot.

Yelp
Alright, so Little Creek Oysters takes the cake on the best stop of our oyster tour!!! This place is a gem. It's perfectly located on the water; small, cozy, local, endearing hole in the wall. They gave us everything we wanted in an experience at a local oyster bar and more. This cute little old man named Alex (in picture with my wife), creates cheese and charcuterie boards from around the world and walks them over to your table. We also got 4 different types of oysters from the peconic and great South Bay. As a GSB boater, I'm sad to say that peconic oysters are better than GSB. The oyster pond selects were our favorite here. We washed them down with Aperol Spritz and this whole experience was 10/10. We even both "bought the tee shirt". Make this a stop while you're in greenport. Or even plan a trip out here just so you can come by Little Creek Oysters!

Etm M.

Yelp
Nothing better. Go to if you want to eat the freshest most delicious local oysters. Staff is the best. Ambiance is fun and sunny. Nice view.

Hannah H.

Yelp
The food is fantastic - this spot is perfect for post a day at the beach, or anytime you're feeling hot and just need some great fresh seafood. I had a half dozen raw oysters and their mango ceviche - all so good! Service was great - and the place is dog friendly
google avatar

Georgiana M.

Yelp
Oysters were good, not great fun ambience Service was inexcusable. Like, throwing stuff down on the table type inexcusable. you'd think they're getting paid by the scowl. Except the woman with the brown long bob wearing the gray Fishwife(?) tee shirt, who was smiley. Service everywhere else in Greenport is friendly, and most with better food. Get over yourself y'all.

Nick D.

Yelp
Walking along the water we stumbled upon this restaurant. Our group was partaking in a conversation with the oyster farmer who was a great guy. He spoke in detail about the process and genuinely made us feel welcomed. However... the other staff there was rude and flat out made us not want to give them our business. Our conversation was interjected by the woman manager, who in an ill-mannered way, stated "we open at 12:00pm." She indirectly implied for us to leave which left us in a state of shock. The farmer should be in charge there - not the rude manager.

Yelp
I love going here. This place is right on the water, for the most part. It's small and cozy and the outdoor area is perfect especially when they light the fire. Come here for the oysters, drinks and good atmosphere. Leave here feeling happy and wanting to come back! The oysters are definitely amazing and grab a local beer or a cider and you're good to go. Warmer weather please hurry back I want to sit outside and enjoy the oysters and the view!

Yelp
Outdoor seating spot where they have benches. We went on a weekend and put our name down and waited about 40-45 minutes. We got the ceviche, margarita, and tried the watermelon cider and the downeast cider. We also did half a dozen of oysters each for my group of 4. It was $20 for half a dozen of oysters and then we got to try one of each since there were 6 different types of oysters. The ceviche was pretty small but the chips were good. Didn't taste much of the scallop but definitely got the fluke pieces and the tomatoes. It also had a couple of mango bites. Overall pretty chill spot for a drink and some oysters!
google avatar

Alexandra L.

Yelp
The Quick: Just a perfect oyster spot on the water. No frills, just delicious oysters with a view. Really enjoyed our experience and can't wait to return!
google avatar

Kelly O.

Yelp
We grabbed some oysters to go to catch the ferry back to CT and man were they delicious. Expertly packed over ice and made the trip just fine. The smoked fish dip was also yummy. Only disappointment was the chowder- too thin and not enough of the goods for my taste. But they were also packed well so at least stayed warm for the trip. Next time would prob stick to oysters. Would love to go back and dine in and enjoy a bevie.

Yelp
We had SO MUCH FUN at Little Creek Oyster! First off, parking is on the street or in the municipal lots (free.99!). Then walk over. We came on a rainy day, so there were only a few people inside and they have an outdoor area thats slightly covered but benches were wet. Everyone here is SUPER FRIENDLY. Our server was awesome and helped us decide what to get. The great thing about this place, is you get the option to shuck your own oysters!! We were a little hesitant because none of us had done it before, but they give you a quick lesson and a bucket of a dozen oysters and you're on your way to shucking! It's $18 for a dozen if you shuck your own vs. $36 if you want them already open. I highly suggest shucking your own esp if you've never done it because it's super fun, but definitely difficult. After our first round, we decided to get two more because we're PRO SHUCKERS now #amirite? We also tried their yuzu cocktail (BOMB.COM) and a crab roll. The bun was toasted nicely and theres large chunks of crab, but flavor was lacking. Can't wait to come back here on a nicer day to shuck some more.
google avatar

Yelp
Oysters don't get any fresher the this hidden gem. Several kinds of locally sourced oysters with great drinks and outdoor seating overlooking a marina.
google avatar

Tommy R.

Yelp
Love this place. Every time my wife and I come here it is such a nice time. The Oysters are so fresh and the conifer and onion sauce takes excellent on the oysters. We tried the bone marrow this time which was also very good. We will definitely be back over and over again!
google avatar

Andy H.

Yelp
One of those reviews when you just want the good word to get out and ruin this little gem. Time your visit wisely as seating and space is a challenge, but ye shall be amply rewarded!
google avatar

Jessica L.

Yelp
Such a cute little hidden gem! It's almost a little shack on the water. You order inside and they bring your food to you outside. It was only a short drive from the vineyards; definitely worth visiting if you're in the area! You're given the option to shuck the oysters yourself or have them shucked for you. We went with them being shucked for us. There's two guys outside just shucking oysters by the dozen! They were fresh and so so tasty. They also have a huge draft selection and cocktail menu! My personal favorite was the Yuzu and Prosecco. Definitely will be returning if I'm in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
So happy we stumbled upon this place and decided to try it out, what an awesome few hours we had here eating incredible oysters, drinking Rose all while outside overlooking the harbor, it was the perfect afternoon. This is a little shack that may be easy to miss if you aren't walking right past it. We happened to get the best seat in the house around 230 in the afternoon on a Saturday, right in front of the shucking station. They had bar like seating, enough room for 4-5 people. They had picnic tables and some high top tables outside, very casual setting with an incredible view of the water and boats. There were shady spots if that's what you wanted and areas to be directly in the sun. I didn't spend much time inside the little shop but the bar was inside and I did notice there was some additional seating in there. We started with Rose and a beer and the Rose was served in a very small, very very small drinking glass. I wasn't a fan of this to be honest because it felt like a water glass and I was drinking it was more quickly than I would had it been in a stemless or regular wine glass. We got a dozen oysters, two different kinds based on recommendation of the guy we were ordering from. The flavor and freshness of the oysters were no doubt, amazing. Hands down the best oysters I've ever had, but they were gritty, so that put a damper on the whole experience a little bit. We were served mignonette sauce and lemon, no cocktail sauce, which I was surprised about but also, the oysters didn't need it. I could have eaten them without any fixings and they would have been really good. They had all the additional sauces and dressing up on the oyster shucking ledge so we had everything we could possibly need right at our fingertips, truly the best seat in the house. The service was great, we were constantly being checked on, constantly being asked if we wanted drink refills or anything additional to eat. I would make this an annual tradition because I only come out to Greenport about once a year and it's such a fun way to spend an afternoon. If you like raw oysters and a fun atmosphere you have to come check this place out. It's not cheap but it's worth it.
google avatar

Ryna D.

Yelp
Tiny shack but awesome selection of oysters and they have a shuck your own if you want to learn how to shuck oysters and save some $$ as well. We got a bucket to shuck ourselves plus some more that was prepped by the staff, ordered some beers and had a great time. Highly recommended stop if you're an oyster lover!
google avatar

Danielle D.

Yelp
Shuck your own oysters or they will do it for you. Order and sit where you want. Nice outdoor summer experience. Not a fan of the mignonette sauce.
google avatar

Josh S.

Yelp
This is the absolute best place to get oysters in the world... period. I have had them all around the world and Little Creek has the freshest oysters with the best minionette.
google avatar

Tonia G.

Yelp
Year-round anchor of this community. This business is run by such good people & the vibe they create for locals, and interlopers like me, is greatly appreciated by all. This place is a tradition. The thing of legends. No kidding. The food is great, but it's more than that. I'm intensely grateful for this sweet little haven. Thank you
google avatar

Ralf L.

Yelp
Great food and service. Oysters were wonderful and the crab and shrimp sandwich was incredible.
google avatar

Jenny V.

Yelp
This place was suggested to us from a local north forker - is that what the locals call themselves? (Sorry if that's wrong) while wine tasting at a nearby vineyard. What a great little gem. The store is located in the back of Greenport's main street. Store was previously a bait and tackle store that has been reconverted into a oyster joint. Oysters are local to Long island and can be preshucked or if you're OK getting a little -or a lot messy you can shuck the oysters yourself! Interactive dining! We wanted to give shucking a try. There's a quick tutorial led by the staff, and once done you get handed a glove and the shucking tool and off you go! Tons of cursing and laughing but we had loads of fun shucking ourselves. Half way through we were shucking like pros!!
google avatar

Emily C.

Yelp
Little Creek is my favorite business on the North Fork - to the point where I basically planned a day trip around getting the chance to visit again (after it was closed during my last trip out in May. That's what I get for a Mon-Wed venture. Sigh). My friend and I were lucky to grab a couple seats when we first arrived because this little shack was bumpin' on a sunny Sunday afternoon, and there was definitely a wait for larger groups. I learned to shuck oysters here a couple summers back, so it was time to order up a big bucket and see if my very limited skills were still intact. Not too bad! We ordered a variety and got to shucking - everything was so, so amazing. Fresh, briny, and accompanied by lemon wedges and mignonette. I didn't order from the rest of the (small) menu but they've definitely got some nice beers available -- I also saw an oyster-topped bloody mary and what I'm pretty sure was a rosé flight at a neighboring table. All in all - it can't be improved upon. A summer must. (Also shuck-your-own is a lot cheaper - bonus to hone those shucking skills!)
google avatar

Daniel F.

Yelp
Ever wanted to learn how to shuck oysters? Little Creek has a discounted price if you shuck them yourselves at $18 a dozen. The knife they provided was really durable and has their logo on it, so I bought one at $17. The clam chowder is rated 2nd best in Long Island. Not sure by who but it's pretty good, each cup being 6 dollars. We sat inside since there wasnt any seats left outdoors. The staff was really friendly and held my hat when I left it there by mistake. Came back for it an hour later and they hung it up for me.
google avatar

Tiffany Y.

Yelp
The staff, the hospitality, and ambiance is 10 out of 10. Everyone here is here to help answer all and every question. The drinks are delicious if you are like spicy the infused vodka bloody mary is for you! The shuck it yourself oysters was fun and delicious. Love working for my food. The lovely staff will teach you the ins and outs. Not to worry. Came here strictly for the raw bar and it was not a disappointment at all. The crew here definitely took precautions and took the time out to clean after each customer. Thank you all !!!

Yelp
Shuck yourself. Little Creek Oyster Farm and Market offers shucking lessons and freshly shucked oysters for your oyster lover. And I love oysters! Our group went to Lavender by the Bay and wanted some fresh seafood for lunch. LCOFM is a great place for appetizers but not for a full meal. The menu only has oysters, clams and snacks (chips, olives, pickles, smores and clam chowder). We ordered 2 dozen shuck yourself, 4 clam chowders and 2 bags of chips. And Greenport summer ale, Greenport porter and two flights of Rose. We got a bucket of various fresh briny oysters, a glove each and a oyster knife. Learning to shuck your oysters was so fun! (And so labor intensive!) We were sweating from prying that knife into the oyster. The table next to us were cursing the oysters and getting oyster shells over their clothes (one girl was in head to toe Chanel). I got a fair amount of shell and sand into my oysters. But when I finally opened one, it was the sweetest reward! The Montauks were so briny cold and sweet, it tasted like ocean water. After we finished our two dozen, we realized half of the oyster knives curved upwards and was sharper! You definitely want that one. So we ordered another half dozen to redeem ourselves and only used the sharp oyster knife. Yes! Much faster shucking! Afterwards, we were still hungry. So off to another place to complete the meal! I would definitely come back. And shuck my own.

Al B.

Yelp
Flawless execution on the food. The grilled oyster sampler, clams on the half shell and dips are amazing. Good service and food. Not cheap, but so good and worth it.
google avatar

M J.

Yelp
Love this place. Great summer vibe right by the water. Appreciate that they have a nice selection of non-alcoholic drinks other than coke/sprite. Loved the grilled oysters!
google avatar

Kelly C.

Yelp
A friend of mine recommended it and I definitely see why- all their oysters were so fresh and delicious! I tried the Peconic Golds, Copps Bay, and Fire Island Blues. They were all nice and big oysters with great textures. I opted not to shuck my own but it was a great atmosphere regardless. I would definitely come back next time I'm in greenport!

Such a beautiful space. We dinning outdoors and the sea breeze was gentle and warm. The service was friendly and fast. We ordered two of each oyster they had. Dozen total. All of them were fresh but the favorite was the Little Creek Oyster. Highly recommend that one. Next came the clam chowder. It was nice and light. Not thick kind of chowder. Great flavor and I loved the slices of potato instead of chunks of cubes that you normally find in chowder. The crab cake sandwich was literally all crab. Some cabbage on top on a brioche bun. Really great flavor. I wished the bun was slightly warmer. But the bun was a great brioche bread. We ordered the grilled oysters because we watched the man work that tiny oven grilling them and I just needed to try them. I would say it's ok but I prefer the meaty oysters for the grill. These oysters shriveled up to a small booger. Butter sauce was good with the chipotle. I felt the pesto was over whelming. Would highly recommend this slot if you come to Greenport. Also check out the Weathered Barn. Great bath and body items made in house.

Yelp
Really loved the oysters today. Fresh and briney! We also got 6 of the grilled oysters. The beulah. It was delicious with Pesto and Jambon.

Yelp
Excellent casual place for great oysters and seafood. Love the location. It's so casual a s pretty. Views of water. Boats, and people walkinG around town. Food is so simple and good. Oysters were extremely fresh and amazing variety. The clam chowder was so Light and not traditional. The crab sandwich was amazing, no fillers just yummy blue crab meat. It's a little pricey but totally loved it and would go back. $200 for three with tip....
