The 12 Hottest New Cocktail Bars in DFW

"The National building in Downtown adds a new restaurant, but it’s the bar that has our attention in this French bistro-inspired spot. It has solid classic cocktails, including a Sazerac, Pimm’s Cup, and Hemingway daiquiri, as well as a nitro espresso martini. The red and white lists are loaded with interesting finds too. It also has an “iceberg hour” daily from 5 to 6 p.m. with specials." - Courtney E. Smith

During my recent business trip, I stayed at the Thompson Hotel and had breakfast at their on-site restaurant with my colleague. The experience was simply fantastic from start to finish. I ordered the smoked salmon eggs Benedict, which came with silky poached eggs topped with a rich, vibrant hollandaise sauce, served over smoked salmon and fresh greens. On the side were perfectly crisp roasted potatoes with diced peppers—golden on the outside, tender on the inside. My colleague had fluffy scrambled eggs, savory breakfast sausages, crispy potatoes, toast, and two flavorful sauces that paired beautifully with the meal. Everything was fresh, well-seasoned, and plated with care. The coffee was smooth, hot, and the perfect complement to the breakfast. The restaurant itself had a warm, inviting atmosphere, and the service was attentive and efficient. It was the kind of breakfast that leaves you satisfied but still thinking about it hours later. If you’re staying at the Thompson—or even if you’re just in the area—this is a breakfast spot worth making time for.

Everything about this place was amazing. Friendly staff, and the place is extremely clean. I only went in here for brunch and got some pancakes and an iced vanilla coffee. It was absolutely delicious, the pancakes were extremely fluffy and soft, also had somewhat crispy edges which made it taste splendid . The strawberries on the pancake weren’t acidic nor sweet it was perfect. My friend went ahead and god a croissant sandwich with potatoes on the side, and the potatoes were soft but full of flavor! Will definitely be coming back here to try dinner. I also think the prices are extremely fair, considering the fact that the food tastes amazing.

Located in the Thompson hotel building. 9th floor. Worth venturing out to find and enjoy. Bloody Mary’s to start and they were fantastic. Not too thick. Ordered their eggs Benedict, added smoked salmon. Outstanding flavor and a variety of textures. The English muffin was toasted on the heavy side with butter. Amazing. Eggs perfectly cooked. Salmon was as fresh as it gets. Their special sauce brought it all together. No need to salt or pepper. Extremely satisfying.

Little Daisy is a cozy, chic gem in the heart of Dallas (located inside The Thompson hotel). We dined with a group of friends for dinner, and the experience was incredible. The ambiance is so elegant and unfussy, but still elevated for a special occasion (though the meal itself creates the occasion). For appetizers we enjoyed tuna tartare, oysters, artisan cheese board, and the artichoke dip (the latter was the highlight for me, not your chain restaurant’s dip!). For dinner we sampled the gnocchi, crab cakes, petite filet (Wednesday special) and truffle fries galore. Not one bite was mediocre, and the steak was top tier. The espresso martini is the best I’ve ever had. (You’re welcome.) No surprise, dessert was decadent perfection, and I’m still dreaming about the Texas Peach Bumby. Valet parking at Thompson entrance, restaurant validates. Dallas is full of restaurants, but Little Daisy is truly something special. Enjoy…but don’t tell everyone. ;)

One of the best places we’ve ever been to! Little Daisy is truly cozy and stylish. The atmosphere is amazing, and the staff is incredibly friendly and attentive — they make you feel special from the moment you walk in. A huge thank you to Marina for helping us choose the perfect dishes — everything was spot on. And our server Carlos was absolutely wonderful: kind, professional, and very attentive. We’ll definitely be coming back!

The food is delicious (it’s rare to find a truly elevated brunch in downtown Dallas), the vibes are immaculate and the wait staff do an awesome job of helping welcome newcomers. Plus, the breakfast greet items are basically dessert!

Our dining was amazing, and we really liked our server. Her name is Taé McGehee, and well, she just made everything perfect! Southern Belle service, right there! Truly exceptional! We will come back and find her! Thank you so much, Taé! P.S. Loved playing your piano! Will come back to play it again and listen to others play! Can’t wait for the jazz!!!!

Yelp
Little Daisy in Dallas is in the Thompson Hotel and offers several French bistro and cafe items with easy pool access, perfect for a leisurely brunch. I indulged in the expat eggs which is two eggs nestled in a rich tomato sauce. Little Daisy is inspired by the expatriate experience in Paris that nurtured some of the world's greatest writers and artists. The restaurant's name, derived from the Spanish translation of "Margarita" (Little Daisy), reflects its dedication to mastering the classics of both French and American culinary traditions. It's an adorable spot with a tasteful cafe design.

Yelp
Location 9th floor of Thompson hotel. Mid town Dallas. Parking Valet, garage Atmosphere Very, very classy-upscale. Hyatt upscale hotel. Seating Outdoors-pool side, tables, booths, large bar Service Personal, friendly, attentive Menu We had the brunch-had the corn bread eggs benedict with salmon, spinach, and a side salad instead of potatoes. Light red sauce. So rich and good-2 slices of corn bread and poached eggs. The avocado tartine-so tasty, except for the bread-a tuscan whole wheat would be better-the toppings and avocado was wonderful. there is a light mid day menu and dinner menu. Mimosa was good-not sparkly, check the wine list and order specifically. Happy hour is 5-6, Mon-Thurs. 50 cent martinis with purchase of a plate of oysters is the special. Summary Classy roof top restaurant/ bar. Happy hour special. Great brunch. Outstanding service!

Yelp
We came here for my fiancée's birthday for brunch and when I say this was the worst dining experience we have ever had, that may be the highest compliment I can pay to this establishment. We were the ONLY people in the entire restaurant and yet were ignored for 45 minutes. When I asked the bartender for some help, he said he was "putting in some orders" for the nonexistent or haunted spirits that must have been dining there. Drinks were overpriced and subpar. The experience was so bad that we left after we got our drinks at our table and went to Uchi instead (5/5 stars for Uchi, btw). Avoid this place at all costs.

Yelp
The decor is nice and the space is open. Parking is not ideal and everything else went down hill. I am surprised by these great reviews, maybe the chef and service had a bad night. We ordered the potato with cavier and that was okay. We then tried the truffle Mac and cheese which has heavy truffles but it was also so much salt - I was waiting for my hands to swell. I ordered the cavatelli pasta dish which had so much salt I could not eat it. My friend ordered the burger which was more like a dressed meatloaf. The manager did speak to us about things being unpleasant. However, there was a bit of confusion with payment. The service was new (which we were told). However, it seemed as if a senior server should have accompanied our server. Our server just did not know the menu and couldn't answer any questions. We finished it off with sorbet and at two bites and gave up. I believe they will be making changes on the menu but the salt is out of control. Oh, I forgot I tried an interesting wedge which was meh.

Yelp
Pros: intimate dining room. Choice between a 5oz and 8oz pour of wine (bc sometimes the second glass is too much and you just want one and a half!). Great seasoning on the fries with the steak frites. I really enjoyed the pepper crust on the steak and it was cooked to perfection. Cons: the valet situation for the hotel is less than ideal. The streets are usually backed up and super busy with valet working for all the restaurants and events in the Thompson they can get really overwhelmed. The kitchen seemed to be moving slowly. However, I do understand that they recently opened and would give it another shot. Overall, it was a good experience. Warm ambiance and friendly service. I'd love to come again and enjoy the bar area and live music on another night!

Yelp
After a little bit of a scuffle trying to find dinner arrangements (first place we didn't know was 21+ only and we had our two kids in tow, and second place we didn't know there was a dress code), I'm grateful we found Little Daisy. We are seated right away and our server was absolutely welcoming and helped calm my stressed nerves. We were so pleased with where we ended up - even if it wasn't a part of the original plan. The menu is very up to my husband and I's speed and the kids munched off of what we ordered (their French fries were also crave-able!) We ordered a few items like their oysters on the half shell and their Texas Beef Tartare. For our main, we shared their hand rolled cavatelli. For drinks, I loved sipping on their dry goose martinis and my husband enjoyed their Negroni. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and one I'm glad we stumbled upon. Food and drinks were stellar, the ambiance was welcoming and enjoyable, and service was top notch. So, if you're new in town like we were and are looking for a great place to dine out (even with kids), you must try Little Daisy!

Yelp
Pretty good spot! The beef tar tar was amazing. I feel like a larger menu of salads to order as entrees would have been appreciated, especially at a hotel. The service and wine was amazing. Would definitely come back

Yelp
Little Daisy is an upscale diner in the Thompson that serves a nice brunch, and the rest of the menus looked good as well. I had a pancake with berries and Chantilly cream. Hubby had an omelette that was light and fluffy. It was my birthday and Carlos, our waiter, brought me a tasty mimosa. The rest of the staff were also very attentive.

Yelp
Been dreaming about this dish since I had it. Staff is great and kind, good ambiance all around. A little small so it can get loud but worth it for the delicious meal!

Yelp
Fabulous dinner! The French onion soup, wedge salad and French 75 were the best I have ever had. the Hemingway burger with bacon and frites was excellent as well. They have a great wine and cocktail menu. I highly recommend and if I lived closer, I'd make this a weekly thing! Can't wait to try other items on the menu. Oh and the ambiance was out of this world.

Yelp
The Thompson/ National does it again! This building is now home to 4 AMAZING restaurants & bars. I attended their grand opening and it was everything I could've hoped for! The food was absolutely amazing. It was hard to pick a favorite, but if I had to choose, I'd go for Chef Jeramie's Gumbo. I can't wait to come back on a weekend to try the rest of the menu items that were catching my eye, as well as enjoy some live music!

Yelp
The service was excellent at this beautiful restaurant! The food was amazing too we tried several things from the gumbo, baked oysters, salmon crudo, veggie ratatouille just to name a few and it was all so good. I highly recommend eating here. 5 out of 5 stars!
