"This one’s for the italian-sub purists. The toppings are pretty classic, and it’s more affordable than some of the other heavyweights in Austin. We’ve had italian subs at Little Deli that we’d put up there with the best. Unfortunately, during our blind tasting, the ingredients weren’t distributed well, resulting in large segments of the sandwich with nothing but ham." - nicolai mccrary

Locals have been frequenting this hidden gem nested deep within the Crestview neighborhood, since 1992. The authentic Jersey style pizza and sub-shop is one of the few places in town where you can avoid the tourists and eat like a local. With a second location in Windsor Park, the original Crestview restaurant offers a variety of pies each day, plus stromboli, soups, and sandwiches galore, including a diner-favorite Reuben and another stuffed with pastrami. Check the specials of the day, which most recently included a pesto pie with sausage and spinach pizza, in addition to its Italian lentil and tomato basil soups. "There aren’t too many spots in Austin that are better for enjoying pizza on a picnic table outside than Little Deli, located in a quiet shopping center in Crestview. There’s not much else in the area, other than The Violet Crown, where you can pick up wine next door (it's BYOB here). But you’ll still find the place packed with locals on any given night (especially with kids). The pies are about as classic Jersey-style as they come—thin, foldable, and just a bit crispy. "This tiny pizza spot in Crestview is easy to pass by, but parents know all about Little Deli. Call in a takeout order and when it’s ready, grab some wine from Violet Crown across the street before posting up at a picnic table outside to let your kids run around in their big field out back.
