9 Best Brunch Restaurants in Savannah, Georgia | Eater Carolinas

"On the first floor of the Ann Savannah hotel, this chic spot may get its name from the history books (Georgia’s founder, General James Oglethorpe), but the design, dishes, and cocktails are as current as can be. Open to the public, anyone can nosh on the Mediterranean-leaning small plates and sandwiches, such as the boquerones toast topped with Spanish anchovies, a brie and kale panini, the Cap Ferrat club or the P.L.T. (pancetta, lettuce, and heirloom tomato)." - Colleen McNally Arnett

Newest Restaurants to Check Out in Savannah, Georgia | Eater Carolinas

"Little James, named after Georgia’s founder James Oglethorpe, recently opened in the Ann Savannah, Apartments by Marriott Bonvoy, next to the Grey. Espresso service, cocktails, and a Mediterranean menu (anchovy toast, a stacked eggplant sandwich, a Greek salad, and more) collide with natural light to make an A+ spot for a breakfast meeting, work spot, or happy hour schmooze." - Kiki Dy

I stopped by The Little James in Savannah and got the pumpkin spice latte and a sandwich, both were really good. The service was friendly and welcoming, and the decor had such a nice, cozy vibe. The food took a little while to come out, but everything tasted fresh and was worth the wait. My family was staying at The Ann next door, so it was the perfect spot to grab a bite and relax. Overall, a great experience.

I loved the atmosphere, it’s the perfect place to get work done with lots of comfortable seating. Super friendly staff and the food was amazing. A bit pricey but worth it!

Beautiful cafe, plenty of seatings. However the foods don’t taste good at all. Iced mocha doesn’t have much taste. Chicken pesto is too salty. Muffin is too sweet, basically eat the sugar.

I was staying at the Ann hotel next door for two nights, which Little James is affiliated with. The night we arrived we tried to go there for a quick snack and they closed and locked their doors 35 mins before their posted closing time. Workers and customers were in there and had to have heard us trying to get in at each of the doors but there was no acknowledgement. Very disappointing after an 8 hour drive. We ended up walking over to Repeal 33 and the food and service were amazing, so in the end it was a blessing. Then the day we were leaving we tried to go there for a quick breakfast before hitting the road for another 8+ hour drive. When we walked in there was a group of about 8 college kids ahead of us in line and the barista and one of the kids were in a long convo about piercings. No orders were being taken, just convos about piercings and other things like school. We realized at this rate it was going to take us 20 mins to even get our order taken so we walked out and went to a taco place a block or two away and got fast and great service. The Ann gave me a voucher for free sparkling wine there so I went to go in and get it once we had finished our lunch at the taco place and loaded the truck up. When I walked in there was no one at the counter for several mins. Then a guy appeared from the dining area and said he would be right with me but proceeded to wipe down 3 tables before coming to assist me. That was just bad customer service. There was no one waiting to be sat or a line of folks that needed a table. Customer service 101 would suggest waiting on me first and then going back to wipe the tables.

Google
Review is only of breakfast. Latte was good though they only had whole milk. No skim or 2 or 1%. A large cost $5.50 and small was $4.50. The part that knocked the review down was the pricing of pastries and incorrect charges. A muffin showed $3.50, sounds about right. No price on bagel but ended up being the same price. Croissants and other pastry things were $12…why? Not worth it as they looked like same stuff you’d find at any other cafe. The pricing seemed out of line with everything else considering the menu breakfast items like avocado toast or eggs were the same or only a bit more than that. Final thing was the muffin was charged a buck more than it was listed. It’s not the end of the world but annoying and the cashier did nothing to correct it when I pointed it out on the receipt.

Disappointing Experience at Little James My wife and I were staying at The Ann across the street and decided to try Little James since the hotel gives guests a $15 voucher to use there. Unfortunately, the experience was really disappointing from start to finish. When we arrived, the manager was sitting at the bar chatting with another employee while a line of customers, including us, waited with no one behind the counter. After several minutes, he looked over and said, “We’ll be right with you,” then continued his conversation. We waited nearly 10 minutes before anyone even came to take an order. The prices were outrageous, everything on the menu was nearly $15 or more. Even with our $15 vouchers, we still ended up spending around $80 total for a couple of sandwiches and lemonades. Definitely not worth it. To top it off, the person in front of me tried to order a coffee, but the manager said they “didn’t have a barista”, at what’s supposed to be a coffee shop. He wasn’t apologetic or concerned at all, just dismissive. Between the poor service, lack of professionalism, and inflated prices, Little James was a huge letdown. With so many better spots in Savannah, this one’s easy to skip.

Google
Highly recommend Little James! The space is large, beautifully designed, and super comfortable. The staff are very friendly, which makes the atmosphere feel warm and welcoming. There’s a bar, a café, and a food menu—all in one spot. The food was pretty good, the coffee was nice, and it’s a perfect place to relax—whether you’re with friends or just enjoying some time alone.

Google
The food was absolutely HORRIBLE. I ordered the avocado toast and it was sickening how disgusting the avocado looked AND tasted. The avocado looked like rotten pea soup. Fingers crossed I don't get sick for the one bite I took. The house made coffee was also TERRIBLE. And the price was OUTRAGEOUS. It was $80+ for a family of 4 who only got 2 muffins, a cinnamon roll, avocado toast, and a latte. Would never visit again.

Yelp
Part of the Marriott property, The Ann Savannah, I was drawn to Little James because an influencer posted some attractive drinks on their social media. And I really hit the jackpot with this one. I lucked out because the bartender, Joshua, made me some of the best drinks I've ever had (and check my credentials on yelp!, I am a cocktail connoisseur). I started on the menu, with the midsummer marg, made with altos plata tequila, campari, chareau, honey, cucumber, and lime. Light, just the right balance between bitter and sweet. Refreshing. The whole menu is attractive. Several different spirits with creative ingredients you won't see on the average menu. Interesting flavor profiles. After my first drink however, I asked Joshua to start making me things he liked, or things he had been working on. I find I get the best experiences this way. He made me a couple different drinks, including this amazing grapefruit concoction that blew me away. You can see I've spent the last five years in New York at some of the best cocktail bars, and Joshua really surprised and delighted me. Literally some of the best drinks I've ever had. Joshua was warm and talented and I can't express how important it is to hold onto talent like that, Little James! I had already eaten dinner, but they have a nice little menu with sandwiches (like ham and brie, chicken pesto, pancetta, and more), cheese and charcuterie, flatbreads, salads, and snacks. The space is open, peaceful, wasn't crowded at all. Very minimalist, but stylish. Great place for conversation, meetings, getting work done, or just chilling out. Would be a nice first date option too! It's a little off the beaten path, about 6/10 of a mile off the riverfront, but worth it. As far as The Ann, it's set up like efficiency apartments with in unit washer and dryers, so might be great for longer stays or family stays!

Yelp
Little James is a cute new cafe & bar on property at The Ann Savannah. We really enjoyed having this nearby option during our stay last month. It's a daytime breakfast/lunch cafe & coffee shop that transforms into more of a bar/lounge with live entertainment in the evenings. They offer counter service for food serving mostly salads, sandwiches, and flatbreads. After we checked into our apartment, we stopped into Little James for a quick bite. We got the burrata salad and the sausage flatbread to share. Both items were tasty, though the salad was more of deconstructed toast situation, but still enjoyable. We had our baby with us and I was surprised to find that they did not have any high chairs or a kids menu. Especially with this being on a hotel property. It's a very spacious place so there was room to bring our stroller in, but my son was not having it, so I had to hold him in my lap while trying to eat with one hand and feed him at the same time. Ah, the struggle. Anyway, the real star of the show here was their iced strawberry matcha which is probably the best one I've ever had. I could actually taste the strawberry with every sip and it was an instant mood booster!

Yelp
Came here with a party of 7 for what we thought was going to be a quick breakfast, but ended up waiting extremely long for our food. After 25 minutes, one person went up to the register to check on the status of our order. After seeing a member of our party at the register (it's pretty clear we just wanted a quick update) she rolled her eyes before telling us that's it'd be another 10-15 minutes. The entire thing was so off putting, and could've been explained by just stating that only one person is in the back cooking. The food was great but just be prepared to wait a long time. There was a party of two who came right after us and they also had a wait time just as long.

Yelp
afé by day, cocktails by night!  Little James is the perfect blend of Southern hospitality and Mediterranean charm--a true social hub in the heart of Savannah. Whether you're stopping by for a morning coffee or winding down with a cocktail, this spot feels like home. I had the Paradise Punch and the Brie & Ham Sandwich for lunch--both were absolute perfection! The place has cozy vibes, plenty of seating, and is the perfect place to sit back, relax, and sip on something delicious. The bartenders were so great and the service was top notch!

Yelp
An adorable little place directly next door to the Ann Savannah (a Marriott property). Service was top notch as was the delicious food & cold beer. We will definitely be back!!

Yelp
Great coffee. 4 stars because they are getting rid of the coffee to be a bar only. Alcohol kills. Food is pretty good so hope they keep that. Guy behind the bar makes dolphin sounds

Yelp
Everyone we encountered was knowledgeable about cocktails and coffee drinks! We grabbed appetizers one day and those were amazing! The charcuterie board with house made artichoke tapenade was the best we have had in a restaurant and the flatbread we had was outstanding as well! This is a great place to have next to The Ann.

Yelp
We had one day to stop in Savannah and leave in the morning so we stopped at Little James before getting on the road. I had seen on IG that this place was new & very cute, but I'll say maybe because it is new, it was extremely understaffed and extremely hard to find if you didn't know what you were looking for. Unfortunately I didn't get to try anything they were serving because the wait was way too long, but ambiance itself was very cute indeed!

Yelp
Been traveling all day and found the perfect place to end the day. Little James was a very happening and lively place. Jazz made an amazing old fashioned to put an exclamation point on the day. Jazz's service was very personable and timely in all regards!! We will be back soon.

Yelp
The food and ambience are wonderful. The service is not so. Not a smile for 4 days, not a thank you (even though I tipped very well), never answered the phone for a call in order. Just not a welcoming experience.
