15 Exceptional Caribbean Restaurants in Los Angeles

"Little Kingston is one of LA’s best Jamaican restaurants offering classic dishes like pimento-spiced (allspice) rice and peas, meat and seafood stews, curries (the oxtails and goat curry are particularly good), ackee and saltfish, and jerk chicken that comes with a sweat-inducing sauce. The small outdoor patio in View Park-Windsor Hills makes the idea of island time in Los Angeles feel remotely possible." - Mona Holmes, Matthew Kang

The 10 Best Jerk Chicken Spots In LA - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"If you’re like us and prefer your jerk chicken unabashedly spicy, then Little Kingston is the place for you. Located just north of Inglewood in Windsor Hills, Little Kingston has converted its strip-mall space into a to-go window, allowing for easy, contactless pick-up—and even more time for you to sit in your car and take down an entire plate of wings on your lunch hour. If you aren’t feeling a full combo plate though, you can also just get a side of jerk chicken for $7, which by the way, is still a very good-sized portion." - Brant Cox, Nikko Duren

Oh my goodness, where to begin! Due to COVID my wife and I decided to celebrate our wedding anniversary by getting dinner from a local black owned business. Everything was really good. To start, their beef patties are the best in town! The jerk chicken plate was tasty, however, I was a bit saddened the the chicken didn't have more jerk flavor, and we asked for sauce on the side but were disappointed to see it was omitted when we got home. The salt fish plate was authentic which I appreciated, though not my favorite item on the menu. The cabbage and the rice and peas are both BOMB! Finally, we don't often eat oxtails but they did not disappoint! We will continue to support this place. Heads up, be prepared to wait a while unless you call ahead.

This place is outstanding! We had the short ribs, oxtails and a side of stewed chicken. I'm from Northern I wish this place was down there. Excellent customer service

Google
I had jerk chicken it was really good and flavorful. My friend had oxtails and they all consisted of just fat literally no meat . When my friend brought it to the employee attention she just said “im sorry nothing i can do about that” I would of appreciated if they offered alternative meal or offered to give money back. Instead she offered nothing but an apology which doesn’t suffice for money spent and wasted.

I recently took my Jamaican born boyfriend here to get his seal of approval for this establishment. It was okay. Service was fair. I'm not running back here but if I'm in the area. The location is inconspicuous and unless you're a local or if not for the WEINERSCHNITZL signage you would miss it in a blink of an eye. The fresh ginger cucumber drink is very delicious. Curry chicken underwhelming and the oxtails was loaded with Browning additive.

Google
I don’t know what those people are talking about. As for me??? The service was A1 and the food even better especially the jerk chicken, it was super authentic. I highly recommend trying out this restaurant. Next time I’m in LA I’ll most definitely be visiting again.

Google
First time and the last time! Sixteen dollars for a curry chicken plate and the chicken was undercooked and bland. The skin on the chicken was slimy like the chicken was boiled and then the sauce was added. Customer service was friendly, but slow. Service is through a window due to the pandemic and masks are required.

Google
As hungry as I was, after entering the establishment I only ordered 1 beef patty just to show support. However, it was more on the cold side and was surprised when the cashier said $4.83 I gave him 5 singles and he never made an effort to give me my change. 1st and last

Yelp
The man on the phone was so RUDE!!!! I called at 10:30am and he said "Well we don't open until 11am" in a rude manner. And didn't say anything else. So I said well can I still order then pick up when it's ready. And he said again in a rude manner "well go ahead and let me see if what you have is available." It was my first time ordering from them (use to go to Little Kingstons) and I had a funny feeling they would be rude. Anyways it's a shame. They didn't get my service. Bye Felicia

Yelp
I had a fish bone from the Ackee and Saltfish lodged in my throat. Thankfully I was able to cough it up. My potential unaliving aside, the ackee and saltfish tasted fine. The jerk chicken wings were tasty with a spicy burn. The sorrel was so-so. The fried dumplings had a strong taste of baking soda. Odds are I will not order from this place again.

Lourdes G.

Yelp
They take FOREVER to prepare your food that's supposedly already cooked. Also, the young lady at the counter seems so aloof... this place has potential but it needs good management.

Yelp
Well, my friend wanted to try this place since it's close to his house. I had the jerk salmon and he had the jerk chicken. We both had rice and peas cabbage and bread. The salmon had no seasoning and no sear at all. Cabbage was bland and the rice and peas were overly spicy! Almost inedible. I like spicy but dang! Needless to say we won't be back. And it's fairly expensive! No thanks! 3 stars is generous.

Yelp
The food tasted good I just need to vent my frustration with everything else. I ordered takeout for delivery - I paid for extra festival which is labeled (5) meaning 5 pieces or so I thought. I received 3 pieces. - I spent 10.50 on a large fruit punch thinking it would be enough for 2 people. It was a medium sized cup. $10.50... I know inflation and blah blah blah but y'all a dead wrong for that. - I ordered the large oxtail and I don't see the difference between that and the small. I decided to splurge and treat myself after a long week and I've been bamboozled and led astray. $45 was my subtotal not including tax, fees and tip. $45 for oxtail, drink and 3 festival. You think you get nice up plate for $45. Think again.

Yelp
I'm back again lol. Dude working the counter was super cool and food was delicious as usual. I'll be back lol

Yelp
They don't have anything on the menu. I wanted jerk shrimp and it takes 20 minutes like that was a problem. Then I change my mind and wanted a jerk chicken patty they only have beef. Looks kind I'm going to share a plate of 5 minute ox tails instead of what I wanted.

Yelp
Jerk Chicken large plate was a very large portion. The chicken, rice & peas, festival, cabbage were all delicous.

Jeff K.

Yelp
SOOO glad they opened one in Westside because the one in Chatsworth is amazing but it's a bit of a trek. Everything is cooked with love. The curry goat was so damn good. Just so tender and the curry has such a deep flavor. Even the festival tasted perfect which I don't usually get that excited about at most places it's just okay. Beans and rice had a lot of right amount of spiciness. Cabbage and plantains were both on point. Go eat here. Make sure you don't come in a big rush expecting fast food style. Quality takes time and it's definitely worth the wait. Love this place.

Yelp
The food was amazing and The curry chicken ! I had an amazing experience , owner so sweet !

Yelp
This is the most disrespectful plate of Jamaican Food / Caribbean food I ever bought. I just went here yesterday with my husband. I ordered an oxtail plate. I got home and saw he gave me one oxtail sliced into pieces, one piece of a slice of a plantain as if I was asking someone for one, and one little festival bread. This place is madd stingy. They did the same to my husband plate. The Disrespect with the portion is unmatched. The food could've been better but I would assume a thirty dollar plate would not be bald. I'm still mad at that tiny piece of plantain all alone laying on all that rice by itself. For that, I will never recommend this place. I had 3 slivers of oxtail. Disrespect! I have never been this Disappointed in a plate of food. Shame on these people. Don't eat here.

Yelp
best jamaican restaurant ive had in a long time oxtail is lit the patties was good too no lie

Sandra M.

Yelp
The food is tasty and they don't chop up the chicken in a lot of little pieces that can cause a person to chip a tooth.
