Yelp
My first Yelp review because I've never had such awful ice cream. This is absolutely the worst ice cream I've ever had. Why do y'all hype it up? I truly do not understand why this place is so popular. This was the first time I've never finished my ice cream and neither did my brother. My brothers and I were going to try the one downtown after dinner, but the line was so long (went across the block). Every single person there must've waited 30+ minutes for disappointment. We decided to try the one 10 minutes away to avoid the insane wait.
We walked through the front door, and then you have to open another heavy ass commercial freezer door to actually get in. How cool. Upon walking into the establishment, it is big and open with tables/seating and windows that you can see through where they make the ice cream. To the left of the entrance, is where you order your ice cream. There was a short line. We were confused where the line started because it just looked like two parties were waiting for their ice cream (there are only two registers); there was a sign that showed that the line started to the left but no indication if it was in front of or behind the sign. We made the mistake of lining up behind the sign where the register was because that makes sense, to go to the register. The cashier told us to go around the sign to line up. I had to ask her again what she meant because I didn't understand where the line formed. Poor signage: -1
Then, we were trying to find the menu of where the ice cream flavors, sizes, and prices were while waiting in line for another party in front of us. There is no big board hanging above the registers, just two A4 sized papers sitting on the register counter showing pricing. But that didn't even have the list of ice cream flavors. The ice cream flavors are shown about 10 feet away from the counter, standing on its own. There is a third menu behind the line with letters on wooden blocks that can rotate on a dowel, like those children's toys. My brother was very disoriented and didn't know where anything was, trying to decide what he wanted. Poor arrangement/placement of the menu: -1
It was our turn to order (I paid so it was just one transaction), so my brother and I try out some samples. The peach cobbler seasonal flavor was not good. One of my brothers ordered the cookies and cream first. What was weird to me was that after one person says what they want, the cashier puts the order in on the iPad then walks away from the register to scoop the ice cream and brings it back to the counter. Then, they take the next person's order and do the same thing. It doesn't seem efficient to me because they had to walk back and forth three times for our order. Maybe that's why the wait was extra long at the other location. It makes more sense to me to take all our orders at once, then scoop it all at once. Anyway, I got chocolate because it's what I usually get everywhere I go and my other brother got the orange dreamsicle. Poor operations: -1
The only good things about this place were the funny distorted mirror and cute indoor slide. The regular tap water tasted better than their bad ice cream. We needed the water to wash down how bad it was. The cookies and cream was very salty (glad they had a water fountain); my brother said it tasted like sea salt ice cream. He wasn't wrong. The orange dreamsicle was sad and flavorless and more sorbet-like with probably no cream when it's supposed to taste like an orange creamsicle. Cream is literally in its name. Dreams crushed. I was disappointed with the chocolate ice cream because it had little chocolate bits in it that ruined the texture for me because I like it smooth. Taste-wise, I would give it a three. I would much rather prefer Tillamook ice cream that I can buy at the grocery store. Inedible ice cream: -1
Overall a disappointing experience. They spent all their money on their aesthetic and nothing on the quality of their ice cream. They should really consider their reviews of people saying that their ice cream is too damn salty because they're true. I get that salt can enhance flavors, but too much salt kills it. Please don't come here. You're better off at a chain ice cream joint or even the off-brand two-gallon tubs of ice cream from the store.
