Birria tacos, quesotacos & loaded fries with consomé

"I noticed a new taco shop in Rockville Town Center that’s celebrating a lot of firsts and has partnered with the Montgomery County Public Schools’ foundation Dine With Dignity to raise money for school meals. The kid’s meal at the new location costs $3, includes either a cheese or chicken quesadilla and chicken with rice, and Little Miner Taco will donate all proceeds from each kid’s meal to the fund; each kid’s meal also comes with a free aguafresca until Saturday, August 17, as part of a push to help raise $170,000 for the MCPS Educational Foundation. The shop is planning a grand opening fiesta on August 28 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. with free birria tacos, aguafrescas, and DJ performances, and the first 50 customers will receive a complimentary birria spice kit and $5 gift cards. Little Miner Taco began as a D.C.-area food truck and now operates small counter-service spots in Brentwood and North Bethesda; it opened its largest restaurant yet in July, which features a salsa bar, a brand-new logo, and an upcoming full-service bar." - Emily Venezky

"Little Miner Taco’s birria de res tacos oozing with melted jack cheese became so popular that the food truck added multiple locations across the DMV. Fillings for its destination quesotacos include birria, chicken tinga, grilled chicken, and mushroom, all served with consomé for dipping. An additional location at Pike & Rose’s Block food hall is moving to fresh Rockville digs in June." - Tierney Plumb, Adele Chapin

"After leaving its Mix’t food hall spot, the breakout birria hit opened its first freestanding location in Brentwood with a bar and celebrated the move with $3 tacos and Mexican beers all day." - Tierney Plumb

"I’m following Little Miner, a 3-year-old roving taco shop at the forefront of the birria craze with outposts in Brentwood and Bethesda; after a viral Instagram reel viewed a whopping 394,000 times, it’s bringing back its queso-wrapped burritos on Wednesday, May 25, and is up for a Rammys award for “favorite fast bites.”" - Adele Chapin

"Little Miner was one of the first local businesses to hop on the quesabirria trend, but that’s not the only SoCal staple available from its roving truck and Maryland food hall stalls (Brentwood, North Bethesda). Carne asada burritos come with fries and avocado salsa inside and an exterior squiggle of Sriracha aioli. There’s a cheesy birria burrito, too. Order online here, and find the food truck’s latest parking spot here." - Gabe Hiatt
