Continued... The table across form us managed to stop her in her quick run through the restaurant, where she failed to engage in any form of verbal communication with other patrons. They asked her "where is the meat platter we ordered?" She turns around, looks at our table and shouts like a 3 year old on Christmas morning "oops I make mistake! Meat platter is on their table!" She was pointing to us at this time. She then walked away. No more than 5 minutes later, she makes another appearance at the other table, carrying a freshly made meat platter and *a boiled kielbasa* and says "sorry for the trouble here is a free kielbasa for the wait." My jaw had to be held up to avoid hitting the table.
At this time, I was like "well I'm sure she's running back to get your combination platter or at least potato pierogis." That was wishful thinking, as the waitress was not to be seen again. In fact, no employees were in eyesight of us for the next 20 minutes. We were now at 950pm (yes, almost two hours since sitting down). At this time, we were sitting with no attention from the staff and decided to just pay and get out of there. As we stood up, the busboy popped out of the kitchen and said "you need a box?" To which he was told "no, this isn't even what we ordered and we have been here long enough."
We then walked up to the register, where our waitress and another waitress were busy bickering over something (you can't say this place is not authentic when you hear people yelling in polish so loud you question whether or not they are wearing microphones to amplify the screech in their voices for the entire restaurant to hear.). Our waitress slapped our receipt in front of the waitress standing in front of the register with enough force to kill a small rodent - this could be useful for them before their next health department inspection. Just check their letter grade and the reason why - you will not be disappointed. I will not spoil that find for you.
Now at the register ready to pay and get out, I was half expecting a discount on the meal or maybe an apology for the incorrect item, but yet again I couldn't have been more wrong. The waitress gives me my total, which is the total of the two items we ordered, even though we didn't even receive one of them. I said "the table across from us got their order corrected and was given free food, are you going to discount the incorrect item we did not order?" She began to talk even louder in polish to our waitress, when they traded spots behind the register, so we are now dealing with our actual waitress. She immediately gets loud and says "I gave you meat platter for price of combination platter so I save you $1." I said "that is not the point, we did not order that item and had no choice but to eat it because nobody could be found to help us." She then says "you should have just complained to someone if you were not happy." I responded, "I could have done that if someone just walked by or checked on us at some point this evening." She must have not liked that, because at that exact moment, she reached over the counter... and ripped my credit card out of my hand, tapped the tap to pay for the full amount, slams the card back on the counter and yells at the volume of a drill sergeant "if you don't like it here then don't tip!" I promptly called my card issuer to report this, and they made it right.
Well now here I am, sad that I will never ever even think of returning to this restaurant, but excited to try the other polish places in Brooklyn. I'll look at this as a moment to give me an opportunity to try something new. If you are in for a culinary adventure, this place is for you. If you prefer quality food that is made to order, you may want to avoid this circus altogether.
