Little Susie's Coffee & Pie Review - Old City - Philadelphia - The Infatuation

"This coffee and pie shop already has a location in Port Richmond, and now it's landed in Old City. Specializing in sweet and savory hand pies like pork roll and cheese, glazed cherry, mushroom and swiss, and apple, you can walk out with a flaky pocket for dinner and one for dessert for $4-$5 apiece. They also serve La Colombe coffee, teas, bagels, and a few other grab-and-go things." - Candis R. McLean

Google
I absolutely love this place! I love their rotating selections of pies. The chicken pot pie was flavorful and delicious! Their apple pies are awesome- the apples got a slight crunch to them, nice and fresh. My mom and I got an iced coffee and iced latte as well, both were wonderful. There’s some nice little picnic benches right outside to sit and eat/drink, too! It is right by the road on Lehigh, so unless the road is super busy it's not noisy at all. Between my mom and I, we got an iced coffee w/ mocha, iced latte w/ caramel, 2 chicken pot pies and an apple pie- the total coming out to $25. A great price for great food and drink in my opinion! If you’re having a bad day, it won’t be here!

Google
Giving a 4.5. The iced coffee is great! I got the glazed cherry and I loved that I could really taste the cherry. It was perfect. The only complaint I have is that I think my pie was done slightly under. The dough was more chewy than flaky and the pie itself was not as dark as the other photos I saw which brought me to this conclusion. Great place though and will come again!

Google
Super quick and easy stop on the way to work! The crust is exceptionally buttery/flakey without being too much dough, and the ratio of meat was spot on (had the pork roll and it was 10/10!!). Also very nice staff as well, overall great way to start the day!

Google
I stumbled upon this charming coffee spot while driving by, and I'm so glad I did! The real showstopper was their incredible apple pie, which I devoured in seconds (yes, it was that good!). Paired with a delicious chai latte, it was the perfect combination. The service was top-notch too - friendly and attentive. I'm already looking forward to my next visit. If you're a fan of great coffee and amazing treats, add this place to your list - it's a 10/10 for me!

Google
Honestly one of my favorite hidden gems in the city! Little corner walk up window! The chicken pot pie hand pie is hands down my favorite but I haven’t had one that isn’t good! Hand pies change daily. Sweet and Savory options available. So light but also filling! Good coffee and even better lemonade! Love coming here and the staff is always so friendly!

Google
Little Susie's is an absolute dream. Handmade pies and fresh Philly bagels are always delicious, drinks made with La Colombe coffee are excellent, and the homemade lemonade is always delightful. The staff is lovely and friendly, often apologizing for the wait when the wait is completely reasonable. Usually, there are 2 people working and it's a small shop, so it's silly to expect instant service. I have never had a bad experience with the service or food!

Google
I love this place so much! Every pie they make is delicious. My favorite regular menu item is the Mushroom & Swiss pie. Their selection of limited edition/seasonal pies are amazing as well. Today I was helped by Amy and she provided the most wonderful customer experience. She made me a perfect pumpkin spice latte, complete with hand-drawn leaves on the cup. 🍂 Don’t miss the mini croissant dog treats that you’ll find on the counter - they’re free!

Google
Sampled 4 pies (3 savory and 1 sweet) at Little Susie's and was extremely happy with all 4. The pie crust was thin and soft but held it's own to the filling. The thinness of the pastry allowed for a lot of filling. It was buttery and flakey around the edge. The description of the fillings were simple, but the taste blew me away. Pot pie filling was an absolute must, and the the glazed cherry was the perfect level of sweet. The size of the pies are perfect for trying a bunch of flavors without feeling overstuffed. Bonus- reasonably priced coffee! The medium (24oz) coffee was only $4.

Yelp
THIS PLACE IS AMAZING! My friend and I went because she said I needed to try their hand pies and they are incredible! It did not disappoint! The chicken pot pie had so many layers and flavors and the crust is sooo flakey and buttery and delicious! In my head I could eat like 20 of them I also tried the cheddar and potato and apple ones as well and they were also delicious. There was a decent line when we went and I'm not even surprised this place deserves all the hype!

Carly K.

Yelp
We started with one apple pie and one Philly cheesesteak pie. Then my kids tried a bite a had to have some too, so we went back for 4 more hand pies. Coffee was good too!
google avatar

Yelp
Very cute place very much sells coffee and pie right on the corner. A few tables to sit outside

Yelp
I'm a fan of this place, it's a cute and quaint establishment that is poplar for a leisurely coffee and pastry grab if you are walking or even driving through the neighborhood. The setup is cool where they offer outside seating only and you order at the window. The pies which I initially thought were too pricey, are delicious so I justify that spend. The coffee is bold and delicious, and favorable flavors as well. Service is relatively quick. Good spot!

Laura D.

Yelp
What a lovely establishment. The hand pies I had were so so good. I had a mushroom and swiss and potato and cheddar. Completely exceeded my expectations, they are such a treat. The people were also really sweet and helped me order for my first time. Love it! Cant wait to try more.
google avatar

Yelp
Walked here while visiting / staying in the area. The hand pies were amazing! We tried bacon, egg & cheese, pork and cheese which is ham, blueberry lemon and cherry. They were all amazing but my favorite was the blueberry lemon. The coffee was also good! The staff was so friendly! We loved the outside order/ pickup window!

Yelp
So far everything I've gotten here has been a masterpiece. The mushroom Swiss, the apple pie 12/10 & the blueberry one. Slowly but surely going to try every pie they got. If u haven't yet. Pls go. If you have been go again. They never disappoint they're always happy and smiling and the pie is always delicious I can't even explain the crust on the apple pies u have to eat it. I dream about these pockets of heaven.

Yelp
Best hand Pies ever! The staff is AMAZING, like the sweetest people you will ever meet. Located on a cute little corner on Lehigh Ave. Beware- your mornings will now consist of the constant need for a little Susie's hand pie. P.S. You absolutely need the French onion and pickle cream cheese- made in house! The bagels are some of the best I've had in this area!
google avatar

Ray M.

Yelp
Amazing service to note. Big shout out to Maddie! She's always extremely pleasant and cheerful! That in itself is worth the visit. They have a very nice assortment of pies. Apple is my favourite, but I believe I've tried most of the others ( blueberry, mushroom & Swiss, pork roll & cheese, cherry, and blueberry lemon). They offer a small amount of whip cream for the pies. So delicious! Bagels are from Kaplan's bakery. Probably one of the best bagels around, In my opinion. They offer: everything, plan, egg, and cinnamon raisin bagels. I also have to mention the delicious cream cheese spreads ( plain, veggie, French onion, and pickle) all made in house! I love the fact that they use La Colombe coffee. Full barista service. I visit here often because of the great service, delicious pies and very good coffee. Give them a visit! Keep us the great work Maddie! Your smile is so radiant and beautiful!

Yelp
My friend was in the area yesterday so he picked Jed me up a pumpkin hand pie and some whipped cream. I was working from home so it was such a nice treat added to my day! Nothing was overly sweet which was perfect and it was sooo good! He also told me he likes the pork roll and cheese so that's now on my list to try sometime soon!
google avatar

Robert S.

Yelp
Best bagel in Philly so far. The cappuccino was amazing and done to perfection. I'll be back...
google avatar

Bob U.

Yelp
awesome place for bagels, coffee and delicious hand pies! I was staying a few blocks away and am so glad to discover Susie's! I have stopped by every morning I've been in Philly so far, and will continue for as long as I'm here!
google avatar

Michelle G.

Yelp
This place is great!!!! It's so cute. Simple but well executed coffee and beverage menu and great hand pies. I loooove their Swiss mushroom roll and in the fall- their pumpkin pie roll is OMG! Staff is always friendly and efficient. This place is a gem
google avatar

nic j.

Yelp
Savory pie are delicious. Mushroom Swiss is my favorite. I like to visit the pick up window. As I walk the dog.
google avatar

Nicole M.

Yelp
After your first visit to Little Susie's, you'll wonder how you ever used to get through a morning when you've always had a hand pie-shaped hole in your heart? But seriously, they've cornered a market on hand pies that I never knew we needed. Definitely get the classic pork roll! I also love the mushroom Swiss! Owners are wonderful so you can also feel good supporting a business that is invested in their community!

Yelp
*I am totally a bagel snob from NJ who grew up eating THEE best bagels in the world* Not better than my NJ bagels (Bordentown bagels)...BUT Best bagels I've had in Philly so far! Crisp on the outside but the perfect soft, doughy goodness on the inside! Annnnnnd this place got me HOOKED on their dill pickle cream cheese...tried it on a whim (not even caring for pickles prior to) and now I'm also addicted to dill pickles Also tried their triple espresso over ice with oat milk. Holy shit it's strong...def double the strength of Starbucks espresso...but good! There's usually only 2 people working so almost always a wait, but worth it

Yelp
This is a true corner neighborhood find! Needed something to eat really quick -- before heading to good ole target and Susie's was it! On a nice brisk Saturday morning in December, waited in a short line outside patiently for Susie's window service. As I glanced at their menu, I for sure was going to tryout one of their pies! So, I ordered their cheeseburger pie -- mmm mmmm mmm! This pie was on point! Tasty with meat and cheese! The top of the pie is sprinkled with sesame seeds to look like a burger! Cute and yummy! Also, had a cappuccino with vanilla that was good too! Loved it -- can't wait to have it again! Lol!

Yelp
I love this place so much - it is close by, has great coffee, and lovely pies. However recently, every time I go, they're out of bagels and cream cheese. At first, it felt like they had a busy day and were depleted, but now, it's every time. Please make more cream cheese. Please have bagels other than plain. I'll go at 10:30 AM and there will be nothing left. It's bizarre. And doesn't make me want to keep going.

Yelp
Unique - Tasty - Affordable...can I get an amen?! This joint is a great find! Unique: how many breakfast places do you know that sport pies as their big go to?? For me, it isn't many, and their pies are to die for. Handheld, packed with all kinds of goodness. They also sport a large selection of la Columbe which is convenient. Top it off with other selections like parfaits and fresh squeezed OJ, and you've got yourself salivating waiting to order. Their food is delicious too! Philly made muffins, home made pies, it's the type of stuff you can tell is made with love. On top of all that, so affordable. Great for an awesome breakfast for an entire family. We got 6 items for literally 20 bucks. Can't beat it!

lauren d.

Yelp
Delicious !!! All I want postpartum are mushroom hand pies, cheese steak pies, or meatball!

Yelp
Super cute little spot. I can't wait for spring. I hope they put up some outside seating. So they just opened and right now their menu is very limited. No tea. You can get a bagel and cream cheese or sweet treats. No eggs or cheeses. I trust that the menu will expand as popularity does. They close pretty early so you'll have to make it a point to get there. When we went it was pretty full and they were out of a lot of stuff. They only had one type of bagel and those Philly muffins I don't like. I got a sesame bagel with veggie cream cheese. The cream cheese was awesome. It didn't taste super creamy and I almost felt like it might be good for me. My wife got sesame bagel with lemon and herb cream cheese. I tried that and loved it too. All La Colombe coffee and I hope you know how I feel about that. I've applied to a lot of jobs there and considered getting the logo tattooed on me. Anyway it's really cool to have this place so close. I didn't see any sign but if they allow dogs that I'll stop going up to steap & Gri

Yelp
Don't go if you expect for them to have anything in stock! Cream cheese? Fogetaboutit! Bagels? Fogetaboutit! I have never seen a business who runs out of food as often as Little Suzie's! Instead of opening another location, how about getting your 1st location in order. Most pies run out before noon. It's crazy and poorly managed. It's so frustrating because the pies are excellent and Kaplan's bagels are the best. I was going to leave 1 star but I felt bad and left 2. Blaming supply on the pandemic is unacceptable I have a suggestion! Bake and order a much greater amount then past days sales and at noon start to discount as needed. Perhaps you may cut into your profits but you wouldn't have angry customers leaving you crap reviews

Yelp
This is a nice little corner spot that opened not too long ago and is super convenient if you live in the neighborhood and dont want to venture out to Aramingo Avenue to wawa or Dunkin. They serve la colombe coffee which is always a good option. They also have an assortment of hand pies, muffins and bagels. I usually grab a couple pies with each trip. Today I had a pork roll and cheese, and apple. Bother were nice and flaky as always. The only negative is there were seeds in the apple pie which was unexpected, but didnt ruin it as we just picked it out.
google avatar

Yelp
An adorable little coffee shop that recently opened. I stopped in twice already and plan to make this regular coffee spot. The lattes and drinks are great. Also everything I tried in terms of food has been amazing. They have a few different types of hand pies, including a savory one. I tried the pork roll and cheese and the blueberry ones so far and loved them. It was actually hard to pick what to get. Everyone there is very sweet and friendly too. They seem to care about their business. Give them a try!
google avatar

Shelbi B.

Yelp
This coffee shop is freaking adorable. I tried the apple hand pie with a latte and the pie was delicious. They serve La Colombe coffee which is awesome since I love La Colombe (they also have the draft latte cans). The shop has some window seating & bar seating if you want to chill and eat your pie there. They had a few flavors of pies available, with a savory one as well that I will definitely be back to try (pork and cheese I think). They also had a couple lunch items too. The barista was very friendly. All about supporting local coffee shops over Starbucks so will 100% be back.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try this place since moving to the neighborhood. My roommate knows the owners and I'm a big fan of small businesses. Also-double points to any joint that well behaved pup friendly I have to admit my first trip was sightly subpar, possibly my own fault. Loved that they made their flavors in house, but didn't realize the caramel flavor would refuse to blend into my iced latte. Waste of $6. :/ Cue the Coronavirus and here comes little Susie's to save the day. Their window service has been the highlight of my day since being laid off and practically quarantined to the neighborhood. Now that I know not to get caramel, I look forward to my daily trip to little Susie's to stretch my legs and feed my caffeine addiction. Thanks for being me and my pup's favorite spot during this unfortunate time. UGH-more times than not the flavor syrup I pay for never makes it into my coffee. Started going elsewhere. The lack of consistency for that price is disappointing.

Yelp
I've been waiting to go here for so long! I finally made into the city during a time they were still open and grabbed a few pies to eat -- spinach and feta, honey crisp apple, and a strawberry rhubarb. Enjoyed the spinach and feta pie, it was still warm and gooey. The strawberry rhubarb pie kind of fell apart and was difficult to eat but still yummy. The honey crisp apples were a little crunchy for my taste. Still really enjoyed and definitely would go back. Cute little corner spot for pie and coffee (although I got a yummy lemonade)!
google avatar

Yelp
We've become regulars here and is part of my morning routine. Nearly always a line. Very dog-friendly, with a water dish out front. Outdoor tables with shade. They serve LaColombe coffee, homemade pocket pies (the selection rotates almost daily - apple is my fave), bagels, and more. Friendly staff.
google avatar

Peter L.

Yelp
Love their cream cheeses! Their french onion is crack and has such a unique savory profile. Their veggie is my second option when I end up buying more. The handpies are not bad but a little bit salty in my opinion. Always great service and it's nice to see a thriving trendy spot in this neighborhood
google avatar

Jennifer B.

Yelp
This place is delicious. Our group had the mushroom pie, the pepperoni pie, and also a bagel with butter. Everything was fresh, hot and delicious. You are missing out if you don't check out Little Susie's while in Philly!

Lee W.

Yelp
Their hand pies were just okay, nothing special. A little too pricey for what I received.
google avatar

Melissa V.

Yelp
Sunday morning at 9:30am they were already out of the pork roll pie, apple pie, and orange juice. This was the second time I went and they were "out" or more likely never stocked with the limited items available on the menu. Got the blueberry and the dough was barely cooked. Meh.
google avatar

Audrey L.

Yelp
I've passed this place several times so decided to stop in. Forgot my picture but they have a decent menu size that wasn't too overwhelming. I ordered a small iced coffee ($2.50) and it was made perfectly w/a splash of vanilla syrup. Definitely coming back to try other menu items. Prices are very reasonable.

Robin U.

Yelp
Great pies and coffee. This place is unique and so cute. I had the mushroom and swiss pie, which was excellent. Service was quick and very friendly.

Suzanne R.

Yelp
I was expecting their pies to be amazing! Yet, the blueberry lemon pie wasn't anything special.
google avatar

Heather L.

Yelp
Great cup of coffee and the perfect bite for lunch. Had the mushroom Swiss pie and a honey crisp pie. Ingredients are high quality and delicious!
google avatar

Fatty B.

Yelp
I had the pork roll pie and the wife had the spinach and feta on 10/10: They were both very good, but (and I understand good ingredients are a little more expensive) weren't worth $8.50. $6 would have been fair. We gave them a shot.
google avatar

Enxhenia D.

Yelp
OMG YUM! Perfect morning combo of coffee and pie that never disappoints. The current fall flavors are amazinggggg! As if there apple pies aren't good enough already the caramel apple just takes it up another notch. I'm also currently obsessed with their dirty chai lattes. Also pies and coffee aren't the only things they do. You also need to check out their cookies and bagels with homemade spreads. I'm obsessed with the pumpkin chocolate chip cookies and the pumpernickel bagels with lemon and herb cream cheese. Seriously though - everything at Susies is amazing. That's why the line is always around the corner. Go check them out!
google avatar

Paula D.

Yelp
Hands down the best homemade tomato soup I've ever had! The lil' dipper is absolutely the most amazing brunch I've had in a long time. I don't know what magic they use to create such masterpieces, but keep on doing it! Every pie- bagel- coffee- iced tea and lemonade is out of this world perfection! You won't be disappointed in whatever you choose to enjoy! It's a bonus that the staff is outstanding as well!
google avatar

Mallory M.

Yelp
One bite of a Little Susie's pie and you are sure to be obsessed, as I have become. These delicious little morsels are perfect for a small breakfast, and since Little Susie's is serving the best coffee in the world (I'm speaking of La Colombe of course) you really can't go wrong. The pork roll pie is perfection. I have also sampled the apple pie which was delicious as well. Some other offerings which I plan on trying are spinach and feta, mixed berry, and peach. I love having Little Susie's in the neighborhood and just rolling up to the order window and scoring these tasty little jawns. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for new pie flavors and definitely give them a try!

Wil K.

Yelp
Wasn't impressed. Have to try again. Ppl in Philly have bad taste. They also think standing in line means it's good.
google avatar

KARINA W.

Yelp
we tried little susies today and weren't disappointed. very cute place and the pies were delicious. the crust is perfection. who doesn't like a hand pie??
google avatar

Kelly S.

Yelp
I'm SO happy little Susie's has come to this part of 19125! We've been needing something like this for so long. Their almond milk lattes are addicting, so creamy and frothy. Their bagels are very good as well, vegetable cream cheese is delicious. I'll choose them over SB any day. Support small business!
google avatar

Melissa G.

Yelp
My new favorite coffee shop! They make the best oat milk lattes and the pork roll and cheese pies are delicious - order 2, not 1!!
google avatar

Brett W.

Yelp
Had breakfast there with little lady uncle and Aunt...we all got something different and were each disappointed in the lattes and food...my bagel was stale and the savory 'pie' was underwhelming...really wanted to like this place it's in my neighborhood
google avatar

Lucas H.

Yelp
Pot roast pie. Apple pie. La Colombe coffee. In that order. Good stuff, will do again. Very very good.
google avatar

Jesse A.

Yelp
I drive by this place everyday on my way to work. I decided to stop and give them them a try. Glad I did. The latte with caramel is great. Bought a small the first time. Now I'm buying the big ones. I recommend that people give this coffee shop a try.
google avatar

Buddy T.

Yelp
They manage to make La Colombe coffee better than La Colombe. I try to stop in at least once a week. I want to keep trying new things, but the bagels with the veggie cream cheese are too good not to get. This has quickly become the go to coffee shop.

Maddi N.

Yelp
I always love popping by here whenever I visit Philly since I've moved. Pies are delicious and I always love seeing Norman- he's such a great energy to start my day! Between his delightful personality and the delicious espresso drinks, my mornings have a solid start when I stop at Little Susie's.
