Little Wu

Located in the Fareground Food Hall. Decent food. Tried the lamian noodles with braised shiitake, marinated tofu in seaweed, ginger sauce, wood ear mushrooms, cilantro, scallions and crispy shallots. Also tried their chicken dumplings and vegetable potstickers. Yum!

Ya’lllll this place is a no. Flat out. Yes the soup dumplings taste good, yea they make it out to seem like they are freshly making your dumplings by telling you that it’ll take about 15-20 minutes for your 3 miniature dumplings to come out but the cherry on top is the $8 price tag for 3 soup dumplings!!! Pass on the place and head over to Julie’s Noodles and you won’t regret it. I’ve attached a picture of what $16 worth of food looks like that didn’t even make a dent in my hunger that day. Overpriced.

Really disappointing, I've tried the soup dumplings twice hoping that they were better super fresh-they are not fresh, nor good. They taste as if they are left open in a freezer. The dumplings themselves are super doughy, and the filling is ok, but little soup within. The vinegar sauce tasted like jelly with vinegar, not good at all. $8 for these 3 dumplings felt like too much for the quality. The crispy dumplings were hard and chewy, hardly crispy. The dough was so thick it was unappetizing. The pork ball inside was rubbery and dry. I definitely won't be going back here. Julie's Noodles is a bit farther away, but much more tasty dumplings and double the dumplings for the same price.

We only had the dumplings and the cucumber. The cucumbers where delicious. The dumplings where good but they a little more seasoning. I’ll have to go back and try other dishes.

The dumplings are hand made, the taste is great and authentic. The price is a little higher for the portions but if you are in this part of town, you know what you are paying for. There’s many places where the food is bad and the price is high, so to see a place that’s actually worth the money you pay, is nice. The customer service is great and I was met with smiles. Cool little vibe! The meal took some time to come out but it’s understandable since it’s hand made. Want to have a nice lunch? This is it.

Had the mushroom and tofu noodles with pork fritters and chicken dumplings. Unreasonably expensive for the amount of dumplings and size of dumplings. Dumpling skin was too thin and size of dumpling too small. The noodles were unnecessarily salty, along with the mushrooms. Every bite felt like I was eating a tablespoon of salt. The pork fritters were also a mouthful of salt and overly dry. The noodles were over cooked. I recommend trying another restaurant while at Fare Ground. While eating the noodles, wished I had gotten a sandwich instead.( if that doesn’t tell you how bad the noodles were then I don’t know what does)

This is what $29.40 buys you at Little Wu in the way of soup dumplings and egg rolls. Bland, tasteless soup dumplings, literally no flavor and not fresh, and the egg rolls were basically just taquitos (served in the white paper on the left). The white guy at the register was super nice, but we got to stop giving these places our money. This is fake Chinese food

Food tasted great. Ordered online and even though there was a fairly chunky line, I got my order quickly. I did dine in, and it was packaged to go, which is understandable, but it wasn’t very hot. In honesty, it made up for it in flavor. Literally fire ramen yo! Forgot to take a pic because I ate it so fast

I enjoyed our mini brunch moment with my partner when we were waiting for some friends to head over to P6. I'll never say no to soup dumplings or baos so when my partner was craving something spicy, this seemed like a win/win moment. You place your order at the kiosk or you can ring a bell for a team member to come on out. We placed our order with the kiosk which was super nice since they had photos for visuals. My ordered consisted of the pork bao buns and soup dumplings. The soup dumplings come with a warning that they take 15 minutes to come out but they were well worth the wait! You can only grab the bao buns on the weekend from 12-5pm, but we really enjoyed them. This is like the little sibling of Wu Chow so it was nice to get a taste of it but saving a full dining experience for another moment. As for the noodles my partner made mala style. He gave it a thumbs up while slurping his food away. The broth was really good to his accord.

I was trying something from each stall at Fareground on a beautiful Saturday afternoon while visiting Austin. I love all things Asian, so at Little Wu, I ordered the beef potstickers and the pork soup dumplings. The soup dumplings are made to order, so they let you know it takes about 12 minutes. So worth the wait. I enjoyed every bite of both the potstickers and the soup dumplings, both absolutely perfect. The guy that waited on me was great, he helped me narrow down my choices. You can order on the kiosk or with a live person. I highly recommend Little Wu!

Little Wu is located and the Fairgrounds Austin which is a food court style eatery. Fairgrounds, Austin has lots of different food options. I personally go to Little Wu each time. Their food is always delicious. As you wait for your food you can watch them prepare the potstickers and dumplings.

Finally got to try these guys last week. Enjoyed the fried dumplings I got... I tried 2 varieties. Prices are kind of insane, though. $8 for 3 seems a bit ridiculous, even for Downtown Austin. I enjoyed it, but not sure I'd go again at these prices.

Not bad, not great just sort of meh. I was excited for Asian street food and used the self ordering kiosk to order two dishes- pork dumplings and cold peanut noodles. The dumplings were cold and flavorless, one side was crispy but the other sides were not crispy at all, not bad but just regular and nothing special, for the price of $7 plus tax I'd give it a 2/5 I didn't bother eating the third dumpling. The peanut dish was maybe 3.5/5 I love peanut sauce and the freshness of the cucumber and the noodles were thick and chewy in a good way, but it was a little cloggy and too heavy. I think fewer noodles and more fresh cucumber would have helped balance the dish out better. Overall, there are way better bites to be had in Austin!

Located in the Fareground Food Hall, they have some pretty interesting dumplings here! We got a small order of the Pork Soup Dumplings. I never had dumplings like this where they had soup in them. We were explained a careful way to bite into them (on the top) and suck the soup out of them. I failed miserably with the first one and got some on the table. The rest of them I had a much better outing. They were really good and not too salty!

Found this place in downtown Austin, in Fareground eat and drink. It is in a ground level food court including a bar. Little Wu is one of the six restaurants there. You feel the high tech vibe when there is no cashier on site, and you scan their QR code to place your order and use Apple Pay or other electronic payment. The app also gives you an estimated time when the food is ready. We ordered Sichuan beef noodle, sesame noodle, green beans, steamed bun and pot stickers. Food was tasty and authentic. The portion was a bit small. Steam dumpling or potsticker is only 3 per order. Vegan potsticker available too. The savory noodle soup is highly recommended. It is a great comfort food.

Came in after walking for awhile in Austin, and the place looked really good! We were practically so hungry, and opted for the Spicy Beef Lamian Noodle soup w/ the mala sauce option! We also ordered the chicken & shrimp shumai. Beef Lamian: soup is tastes homemade and very rich in broth. The flat noodles were really fun to eat, and I didn't feel *too* full after (which is always great). The BEEF is tender and not chewy, omg it was so good. Chicken & Shrimp Shumai: Pretty expensive for 3 pieces, but overall it was still super tasty!

We ordered the spicy beef noodle lamian with spicy mala sauce, xiao long bao, and pork potstickers: Everything tastes delicious: The beef noodle is on par with some of the best beef noodle soup. Including the Taiwanese beef noodle soup, The potstickers are tasty. The XLB comes piping hot with red vinegar, really juicy and good flavor comparable to DTF (Din Tai Fung). Order on the iPad device and you'll get a text when food is ready. Located on the Fairgrounds with ample seatings and great atmosphere. There's a bar serving drinks for $4 during 5-9 happy hour. Come here for a good time. You won't regret it.

Came to the Fareground Food Hall having done no research but as soon as I saw fresh made dumplings I knew Little Wu was the place to be. Afternoon looking at the menu there was a lot the sounded good 3 I got 3 things: The Sichuan Red Braised Beef Lamian $15, Shanghai Pork Soup Dumplings $8, and the Beef Potstickers $7. When I went to pay there was an odd delivery charge and all you do it pick it up at the counter. It was only $1.50 but still odd and first time I have ever seen anything like that but I was hungry so I didn't worry about it too much. Once my food came out I was surprised how small the dumpling servings were. It was only 3 each and again you can see the price I paid for them. The number of dumplings might have been on the menu but I can't really remember but I do remember the menu being pretty hard to read since it was far away and had small writing. I will say the food was not bad. My favorite was for sure the Braised Beef Lamian. The Beef Bone Broth was very rich but wasn't all that spicy. The beef in it was also nice and tender. The dumplings were good too but could have been hotter plus they were finished off too quick since they were pretty small and like I said only came with 3. All and all food was 4 stars to 3.5 stars but for the price, serving size, and delivery charge I can't do any higher. So if you come to Little Wu just expect to spend some money if you wanna get filled up.

What a feast! Thick homemade noodles and a slow cooked beef broth for 24 hours. Truly decadent and filling, will add some potstickers next time. Also first time to fareground, won't be my last!

I love the Faregrounds and decided to give Little Wu a try. You order through a screen so no interaction required. I tried a couple shumai and some pickled cabbage. Texture wise the food was fine but the chicken shiitake tasted a bit off for me. For a quick dumpling fix I would come here but would not go out of my way. My favorite thing here actually was the pickled cabbage. Just the right amount of a numbing spicy kick! I might have come at an off time because no one was at the front so i honestly thought it was closed but then i saw the little machine that allowed for us to order - i tried it anyways. For a bowl of the special noodles, the price wasn't worth the bowl. It tasted almost like an instant bowl of noodles. After i placed my order, i then realized there was someone working. When the noodles came out, they just sat under the lamp with no call or anything and its funny because i sat right in front of store. The location is great but i would not give this place another try.

Great soup dumplings... To Little Wu's credit, authenticity and tradition are evident throughout the menu offerings. The soup dumplings are a particular highlight, worth the visit in itself. Other items are satisfying but vary in quality -- whether in the execution or freshness. (The soup dumplings being an exception as they are very good, and involve a wait in order to be steamed only upon order.) The guys working the place are courteous and noticeably doing their best, but obviously stretched way too thin having to dart back-and-forth between the point of sale terminal at the front, and the kitchen/prep in the back. Customer experience leaves a lot to be desired.

This is one of the restaurants located in the Fareground food court. First off, the menu is already a bit pricey. I wanted to get soup dumplings, but since they were 3 dumplings for $8, I opted to get something else that would actually fill my stomach. I ended up getting the Sichuan Red Braised Beef Lamian, which was listed as $15 but came out to just under $18 after an added $1.50 delivery fee. I'm confused why I was charged a delivery fee for a restaurant that I walked up to pick up my own food for, so I was a bit taken back by that. The food itself tasted pretty good--the beef was very tender and the ingredients seemed fresh. My complaints were the small portion size for the price I paid, as well as the soup being extremely salty, to the point where it tasted like I was drinking soy sauce. As a Chinese-American, I have had many braised beef dishes, and none were as overpoweringly salty as this one. I am a bit disappointed as I have heard great things about both Little Wu and its sister restaurant, Wu Chow. Although I am still down the try Wu Chow and see if it's better (it does have higher ratings), unfortunately I probably won't come to Little Wu again.

I was at the fareground for an event and was able to sample Little Wu. The sample wasn't all that big so my review will be based on a small dim sum. The dim sum was cold and it tasted fine. Nothing special about it, and it didn't taste bad. Probably wouldn't go out of my way to have some, but if you are at the fareground you should give them a try.

Located in the food hall Fareground I discovered Little Wu more so drawn to them because I love Asian cuisine and it's so hard to find is San Antonio. I was excited to see the Brunch special offered weekends only, pork belly bao! They had me at pork belly and cilantro! i also could pass up the pork dumplings since they are legit homemade. Everything was yummy. Be careful with the pork dumpling, they "pop" when you bite into them. The pork belly bao was amazing! All the flavors. I could easily eat this daily! Be prepared to wait. It was a 30 min wait for an order of dumplings and pork belly bao.

A Fareground food court eatery serving up bites (literally bites) of Chinese food - a very pared down sibling of Wu Chow. While the food is generally good - it is rather pricey because of it's downtown location (I'm guessing the rent rates have to be crazy for this place). Three little dumplings orders range from $6-8 and you can get noodle soups for $11-15 (with additional add ons that ratchet the price up). The pricing is somewhat comparable to Wu Chow but in smaller portions. This place is great if you're looking for a little snack to tide you over - but if you've got a decently large appetite like mine - you aren't going to get full for less than $25. If you're spending up, you'd likely be happier going to the Wu Chow itself (less cafeteria more restaurant ambiance).

The food was good. The drinks were a ripoff and tasted watered down. The wine was about 12 dollars for the smallest glass ever. The service was spotty but the people were pleasant. The place is very noisy and the outdoors seating is like being on a highway, extremely loud.

3.5 might be more accurate of a rating for me. Chilled Sesame Noodles - these were just alright. It wasn't flavorful enough to take notice of anything, and I probably could've made same or similar noodles at home that I would've enjoyed more. Vegetable Potstickers - I enjoyed these a lot actually, a little pricy and I wasn't certain what veggies were in them, but all that matters is that they tasted good. Sometimes, veggie-based dumplings are too strongly mushroom or cabbage based, but it really seemed like they used a mix of things in these. I do appreciate that there are some vegetarian options, but overall it wasn't anything special. Probably better options at other places in Fareground, but might be worth trying some of the items here if you really want Asian food here.

Really good food, which is no surprise knowing Wu Chow. This location does have more vegetarian friendly and gluten-free options. All their sides were good, my husband had his favorite shumai and I look forward to trying the noodles when I return. Which, speaking of returning, if only parking was easier I'd be here every week!

If you can't get a table at Wu Chow, this is a great substitution! I usually want the soup dumplings anyways so this is a great alternative. Faregrounds is cafeteria style so you it's not as nice as a sit down restaurant but depends on the vibe you want. The sichuan beef lamain was delicious! Lots of flavor, def will order again!

Soooo good! Was attending a conference across the street at the JW Marriott. Wanted a place that was fast and good. Little Wu delivered. I had the 4 crispy pork dumplings and cucumber salad. Oh. My. Gracious. Can I have lunch there everyday?! Yummo! And it was a beautiful day, so sat outside and enjoyed the weather, company and sunshine! Perfect!

Excellent food that comes out quickly. This restaurant is located at the fareground which is cafeteria style filled with local restaurants so everyone you are with can get whatever they want. I loved little wu, I got the a noodle dish and added the pork fritters (YUM). It is a little expensive, but it was a large soup/ noodle dish. I will definitely come back.

Now, I couldn't tell you exactly what I got because it was a special but I can describe it. It was a pancake which had pickled vegetables and mushrooms inside with a sweet and tangy sauce on the side and it was delicious. I was honestly surprised at how much I enjoyed it and wish I would've gotten two instead of some food from nearby Taco Pegaso. I had originally wanted to try some dumplings but I thought they were a little pricey for my blood so I decided to try their special which was something completely new to me.

Decided on a whim to do a tasting of the restaurants at Fareground. The dumplings are fine. Nothing to write home about. They're crispy and chewy, served with both a chili oil sauce and a sweet mango sauce. The spicy beef noodles were pretty great though. I just wish they were spicier and had some black vinegar to top it with. They had the expected toppings like cilantro, onion, and Chinese broccoli. The bad part was how grossly overpriced this place is. You can get much much better noodles around the Domain without paying $19 a bowl. If they brought the price down to something more reasonable, I would come again.

Great food, very tasty...not sure how i feel about the self service and minimal interaction. It's a busy plaza with a lot going on so the ambiance is a little hectic but great for options. I suggest the ramen and dumplings

Perfect for a rainy day! Located inside of Fareground food hall, Little Wu's is the perfect way to enjoy Wu Chow for lunch without having to go to their sit-down restaurant. You walk up and order on the iPad, and you get a text when your order is ready. I really enjoyed my spicy beef bowl (not spicy though), there were huge chunks of tender beef and the noodles had plenty of chew. Super rich and flavorful broth. Great lunch option!

We're staying at a hotel nearby and decided to order some take out. Everything was super hot,fresh, and delicious. They provided us with plenty of sauce and chili oil for all of our dumplings and soup dumplings. I'm from Houston so I am surrounded by plenty of amazing Dim Sum and dumpling restaurants. But Little Wu was truly memorable and yummy.

Beef Lamian and pan seared Pot Stickers. Sounds like a perfect Sunday to me. This cute little shop is tucked away downtown at the Fairgrounds. If you want fast and delicious cuisine this is where you need to go. If you add chili oil be prepared for a little kick.

The orders are placed into an iPad by the customer, and they're apparently having some staffing issues. Saturday night with a huge nearby convention, there was one older gentleman who was experiencing his 2nd day at work, and another guy who spoke no English. Who puts a new guy in on a Saturday, downtown, with someone he can't communicate with? So the poor newbie walked. Anyway about a dozen of folks waited well over an hour and never got food. Luckily there were cheap happy hour cocktails at the Faregrounds bar and new friends were made. Rumor has it that we are getting refunds. We'll see.

Not great. Was excited by the menu but alas execution wasn't there, and too pricey for what it is. Spent just under $70 for lunch for two. Recs - pickled cabbage was fantastic, crunchy and lightly spicy - Shumai were good, especially the pork and shrimp, hard to screw up Skip - mushroom noodles were soggy and incredibly over - soup dumplings were ok, good for a food court shop - garlic green beans had no bite to them

Lunch at Little Wu - fast service and great food. Beef Lamian Noodles was slightly cold but great texture and soup broth flavor. Chilled Sesame Noodles - sauce was great and good portion. Shanghai Pork Soup Dumplings - great soup broth flavor and a good amount of soup. Does not come with ginger but good pairing with the vinegar pictured.

Located at the Fareground off of Congress, these are seriously, some of the best dumplings in Austin. Behind the counter you can see the staff filling the dumplings by hand/making them fresh. High quality ingredients and AMAZING flavor. The pork and shrimp shumai in particular has amazing balance with bursts of flavor from each protein in each bite. A bit pricey for the number of dumplings you get, however, in terms of quality, you're definitely getting what you pay for. Highly HIGHLY recommend.

This takeout Sichuan restaurant specializes in noodles and dumplings. If you're in downtown Austin staying across the street at the Marriott and stuck in their food desert, walk across the street to get some top-quality ethnic Chinese cuisine in this food court in the basement of an office building. If it's not that hot, out sit outside where they have tables.

I'd like to believe that Little Wu is the mini-me version of Wu Chow. Since this is a mini version, they offer a limited menu of select dim sum items, noodles, and dumplings. Compared to normal dim sum prices, Little Wu is much more expensive than others (each order comes with 3 dumplings/shumai for $7-8). Little Wu is geared more towards the solo eaters / the Joeys of the world, to quote, "JOEY DOESN'T SHARE FOOD"!! We ordered the Shanghai Pork Soup Dumplings, ​​Steamed Chicken Dumplings, Tenderbelly Pork & Shrimp Shumai, Chicken & Shiitake Shumai, and to switch things up, the Chilled Sesame Noodles. The dumplings and shumai tasted great, but just like many other modern Asian restaurants in Austin, you're overpaying! As for the Chilled Sesame Noodles, don't let the aroma fool you. The dish was too starchy and not enough sauce. I would recommend taking this home and adding additional soy sauce and oyster sauce to really make this dish perfect. You can find Little Wu inside Fareground, street parking only.

I was really excited to try the soup dumplings. Unfortunately they were out. I gave the dumpling combo a try and chose the chicken taro egg rolls as the side. The egg rolls were about 5 inches long and as skinny as my pinky finger. You get 4 dumplings. Don't get me wrong, everything tasted great but this combo plus a bottled water was $20 after tax/tip and all it ended up being was a light snack. A little ridiculous to me. Edit. Was contacted by management with a hand written card and gift card. I feel like that's hard to come by these days. The gesture alone was enough to show the company morale, I really do appreciate it.

I'm a huge fan of sibling restaurant Wu Chow. Haven't been to swifts yet. This one, I hope they work on a little more. I'll give one star for the patio area and one star for the kind counter service. This as someone who's not real picky: Sesame noodles: overcooked noods stuck together (no, it wasn't takeout), a pile of dense peanut butter, and the biggest pile of raw onion or shallot you've ever seen. Like, a heap upon a palm. Braised shiitake and tofu: same as above without the peanut butter, a strange dense brown sauce (is it soup? Is it stew? Is it sauce?), and astoundingly, even more raw onion or shallot. Potstickers: dry dough. Sauce was good. Green beans: barely cooked. Raw garlic. Marinated cucumbers: delicious.

For a light snack we only shared some pork potstickers and pickled radishes but they were delicious. The radishes paired well with the potsticker. The menu prices look reasonable and comparable to all other restaurants right now. I can't wait to return and try other items from the menu. I love the Fareground area this is in. It's such a nice area to relax and enjoy downtown Austin.

Highly recommended! Really enjoy their green beans - chilled and garlicky (simply delicious!) and their pork soup dumplings Noodles and other dishes are very good - slightly in the salty side but all in all very tasty. Great place with nice outdoor plaza Will be back and place to bring friends

Little Wu is located inside the Fareground food court, and like the other restaurants in the food court, it's quite pricey. I got the Sichuan red braised beef lamian ($15). First, the bowl was pretty small for how much I paid. Second, the broth was way saltier than other beef noodle soups I've eaten. Plus, the broth wasn't spicy at all. Third, I got charged an extra $1.50 as a delivery fee. I don't understand why I was charged this fee because I had to go pick up my food at their counter. Maybe it was a fee to deliver the food 5 feet from the kitchen to the counter idk. Besides my complaints on the broth and price, I thought everything else was decent. Beef was tender and I appreciated the fried scallions on top.

My wife is into veggie noodles and dumplings a lot and always tries them out. She was very excited to try this one out but she was a little disappointed I can say. The veggie dumplings are good but no the noddles itself. It lacked flavor as a whole. Also the noddles and mushrooms/tofu were not mixed up well and hence like mushrooms and tofu tasted good individually but the whole plate didn't go well when put together with noddles and sauce. I felt the same and I would pass on it.

Their veggie dumplings were good! They were served with a soy sauce based dip and green onions.

As a vegetarian, this place had many more options than I am used to! Especially for dumplings and potstickers! I love a good dumpling, but I am used to them only being available in pork or chicken. I was so excited to see them have a veggie dumpling available. The food is a bit pricey (I am getting reimbursed for my meal or else I would maybe think twice about my choice of coming here). The dumplings were very visually pleasing, and the marinated cucumbers were delightful. The inside of the dumplings didn't really do much in terms of flavor, but the sauce was good. If you have a larger budget for meals and in dire need of quick dumplings, this place will do the job just fine!

Meh- I was excited to have another Chinese noodle joint in town but upon trying their beef noodle soup, I found that it was too salty and rich. And the noodles were not cooked to the right consistency because it lacks the chew. They could consider making fresh noodles like they do with their dumplings. The dumplings on the other hand were flavorful and fresh. But 3 pieces for $7dollars?? My mom ended up buying 3 servings for $21 dollars to have enough food which is ridiculous. Wouldn't say that this place caters to a Chinese crowd. Oh they have a $5 building or "delivery" fee they charge you for. So basically 2 noodle dishes and 9 dumplings ran close to $70 total. Yikes.

I have lived in Austin for about 3 years now, I came across Little Wu driving around and thought I'd try it, I'd have to say it's the best Chinese food I have had in this city! Dumplings are delicious and the curry chicken lamian I got was amazing

Me and my husband decided to go to Faregrounds for the first time a few days ago and Little Wu caught our eye. We weren't sure what to get at first, but Caylan and Wes were very helpful. We decided to get the soup dumplings and beef lamian dish. They were both delicious, as the beef was very tender and I decided to get it with "mala". It was the perfect amount of spicy and the soup dumplings were very flavorful. The service was great and the food delicious. Will definitely be coming back!

Little Wu is in the Fareground food court in the Wells Fargo building, and is what you would expect from Wu Chow in cafeteria form. I got the two shumai, the pork potstickers, and chicken dumplings. Each one was flavorful and delicious with high quality ingredients, and the dumpling sauce is yummy too. My only complaint is I wish they had been warmer. I will definitely be back to try the noodles!
