A downtown bistro known for standout brunch and a focused, seasonal dinner menu. Frequently recommended by Revue editors and locals; the wine program and thoughtful sourcing punch above its size.

Can here for lunch with my daughter. As a vegetarian it can sometimes be hard to find diverse food offerings. The Littlebird was a fantastic choice with lots of options. I ordered the Roasted Potato Hash. This dish was perfectly balanced. Everything was fresh and the flavors distinct. With each bite you could savor the different vegetables in the dish. The mushrooms were fantastic! The kimchi added a mild amount of heat with certain bites and did not overwhelm the dish. I would absolutely order this again. Highly recommend this restaurant for great atmosphere and fresh dishes!

Great brunch menu. Our party had the crab omelette, Waygu steak and eggs, and the grain bowl. Everything was so tasty. The restaurant was fairly busy on a late Sunday morning but wait list was easy and definitely worth it.

First visit here was several years ago on an overnight stay for a concert. Today I had to go back because that time was so good. Today I went and sat at the bar for brunch the staff (all 4 I encountered) were friendly and helpful answering questions and making suggestions that made my visit amazing. I went for this avocado toast gluten free with added egg and coffee, followed up with a citrus drink they mixed for me (not cocktail) that was the perfect refresher after the delicious meal. 10/10 recommend going here when in Grand Rapids, it is a super adorable yet smaller space so try to go outside the typical meal times or be patient and willing to wait. It’s worth it in my opinion.

Google
It was a little bit small and kinda loud, but the service and food were amazing! I had the breakfast sandwich, which was so good! My husband got the chicken and waffles and really liked it, too. Also I got an old fashioned, 💯!! The spicy bloody mary was good, too.

Google
Incredible burgers, salad right off the farm, flavors savory and full of somebody love from the kitchen. I don’t write review but the little bird gave me wings! Sorry no photo to good to wait.

Great flavors, but the 40-minute wait for straightforward dishes like the Chicken Salad Sandwich, Twice-Fried Chicken Thigh, and Little Gem Salad felt excessive.

Everything was delicious!! It was our first time visiting the city and the restaurant. We tried 4 of the menu items, and it just melted in my mouth. The sweet potatoes were yummy. We had the bread pudding toast, sweet potato hash, two eggs toast and potatoes, and avocado toast. I lived the fact that they have vegan, gluten-free options. As a person with GERD, it makes eating much more digestible.

Sat outside. Smash burger was fantastic! The fries, wow! The Long Island Ice teas were super! Service was great.

Yelp
Had the Smashburger/fries and Little Gem salad... One of the best Smashburgers I have ever had...everything made in house down to the mayonnaise...crazy. I would give 10 stars if I could!

Yelp
Have visited twice recently -- once for breakfast and once for dinner. Thoroughly enjoyed both! Food is excellent. In particular, I recommend their smashed burger and fries... it was the perfect meal to soak up a bottle of grower Champagne. Speaking of which, their wine list is small but thoughtful, with options that you won't find at your average bar. Service is quick and friendly. One thing to note is that it's quite small, so there may be a wait at busy times. But it's worth it!

Yelp
Best dinner in Grand Rapids I've eaten. Classy and simple restaurant that feels like a combination turn-of-the-last-century bar and old pharmacy. Large wine, beer, cocktails, and N/A selections. Menu is not extensive but has good options for every palate. Salads are surprisingly good. The smash burger and fries were a hit. Excellent coleslaw. Sat at the bar and got to watch the bartender in action. There's an option on the menu to buy a round of drinks for the kitchen staff for $15. Lovely opportunity to share your appreciation. Go now!

Yelp
We really enjoyed it here but didn't eat here originally. We noticed that they serve brunch so I figured this was a great opportunity to go back and eat. Their menu is on the smaller side but we had no problem choosing. We ordered chicken and waffles and wagyu steak and eggs. Both were incredible! The chicken was interestingly buffalo chicken. The waffle was called a bubble waffle and was very unique looking. The steak was cooked perfectly and the hash brown were delightful. I enjoyed my morning mimosas. We love the atmosphere and the service is always too notch. We are excited to come back for lunch.

Yelp
Both the food and service at Little Bird deserve 5 stars. We were sitting with our grandchild in the open outside air and the staff made sure we were seated in the next plastic bubble. The bubble was nice, it stopped the air and actually kept body heat inside. The food was good. Everything was prepared with care. The flavor was nice! I would go back again.
google avatar

Yelp
We sat outside in small, individual bubble clear tents with our family. why? Dog friendly and it was cold outside. The staff was very attentive and ensured we had a bubble tomato in since we were four adults, our granddaughter and a dog. The food was great. I had the fried chicken sandwich and my husband has the burger. Both were excellent. I would definitely come back!

Yelp
Littlebird is possibly my new favorite restaurant. I just discovered them and their smashburger is incredible!! The bun is toasted yet fluffy, the meat full of flavor, and the cheese melted to perfection. The fries were also perfectly crispy. I enjoyed their old fashioned, which is a top 10 favorite OF in GR for me. Highly recommend this place. I came as part of a larger group and the service was fantastic! They were so friendly and accommodating, and of the 15ish of us not a single order was wrong. I cannot wait to eat here again. And again.

Yelp
My friend and I came here for brunch today and we were very impressed with our meals! We sat at the bar and the bartender served as our waitress, she was super kind and very consistently filling our waters. I ordered the smashburger and my friend got the sweet potato hash with no kale. The burger was cooked so well and the egg was perfectly runny. The fries were also super delicious (a little salty). The hash was super good! The garlic miso dressing on it was divine! I think I could drink it. The veg in it was all cooked very well! I would totally come back with friends or for a date night! No tvs, so the aesthetics were on point!!

Yelp
Littlebird is an absolutely adorable spot in downtown Grand Rapids with huge potential. We stopped in on a Friday for lunch, never having been there as we were new to the area on a work trip. We were able to snag an outdoor table at 1 pm without any wait, which was a score. The staff were friendly and helpful with navigating a simple menu. We got a smash burger with side salad, and the fried chicken sandwich with fries - the fries were highly recommended. we had a fresh pitcher of water on the table, and the food took no time to be delivered to the table. The smash burger was fantastic, bursting with flavor. Chicken sandwich was 'okay' at best. I love that it was made with thighs instead of breast, i loved the pickled slaw, the pickles were a delight - but the fried thighs had a thick sauce which was just too much. The soft butter bun is a delight, but really bulky with so many items inside of it. I removed the top and went at it with a fork and knife, leaving most of it behind. The fries were a major letdown. Were they crispy? yes - to a fault, where they were fried completely through so that there was nothing inside of the fries. Just a perfectly salty, crunch shell of a fry - very oily. I'd head back to Littlebird for what I'm told is the true highlight of the menu (they were sold out that day) - the egg drop ramen. We'll make it happen on my next trip to Michigan, maybe.

Yelp
They have a limited breakfast menu but the food was really good and service was great. I got a basic breakfast with eggs, toast and potatoes. For the toast you don't have any choice. It's an in house made multi grain 1/2 slice of toast. The potatoes were really amazing. The chef showed how he makes them on the grill when someone told him how good they were. My friend got the same breakfast but added a sausage patty for $5. Coffee was also $5.

Yelp
We had a wait, but found a nice coffee shop across the street. Once our text came through, we were seated and had a great lunch. My friend had the duck foo yung. I had the smashburger with fries. Everything was great. Duck foo was nice all around. The egg was huge and the toppings were fresh, delicious, and vibrant. Smashburger had an excellent crust. The blend of meat was juicy and very well balanced in flavor, cheesy, and delish. The fries were SOOOOOOOO good. Probably the best I've had. I will be returning when I'm in Grand Rapids.

Yelp
We came with a big group, and all of the staff were so friendly and accommodating! Our server was very attentive for having such a big group, and kept drinks full. I tried the smash burger, and it was SO good! The fluffy bun was amazing. I actually ended up ordering a burger to bring home with me! Other people at the table got the chicken, and said it was delicious, and the donut holes, which looked so crispy.

Yelp
I was in town for a conference, and a colleague recommended Little Bird for dinner--I'm so glad she did! Even without a reservation, we were offered bar seating or a cozy outdoor pod (we opted for the pod). The menu features locally sourced ingredients, and the service was excellent. We shared the Little Gem salad, which had a great mix of flavors and textures, thanks to the mint and pistachios. We also each had the smash burger--absolutely delicious--and the fries were the perfect side. (Tip: add the garlic mayo!) So glad we decided to dine here, and I'll definitely return next time I'm in Grand Rapids.

Yelp
We had such a pleasant lunch at Little bird. It was weekday so it was pretty slow, it was great. We had almond tea to start, never had, loved it. The restaurant was really cute, fit the vibe. I'm gluten free so I had the smash burger and their gluten free bun was excellent. Like sooo good, definitely a top gf burger bun. Grand rapids was such a cute town and I can't wait to return for Little Bird.

Yelp
FANTASTIC all around. Friendly greetings immediately upon stepping in. Comfy seating, cool original interior & bar. Server had a sweet personality and was quick with our food. French omelette with Boursin & herbs... muah! Perfect. And the pork belly was insanely good. The potatoes were on point, too... cooked just perfectly with a slightly crispy exterior and soft inside. Would happily come here again. Want to try the smash burger next time, wish I had a bigger belly for this visit. ;)

Yelp
This is a great little family owned restaurant! Food was delicious and they have a diverse menu. Friendly staff. Would definitely recommend at try!!

Yelp
I stopped in for a leisurely breakfast when I was in town for work - and I didn't quite get the rave reviews. It was alright, but not fantastic. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing - I got the simple breakfast plate. My eggs weren't cooked enough and weren't very fresh. The potatoes were alright I guess. The star of the plate was the homemade jam for the toast which was delicious. I also got the side of fresh fruit, and for $7, it was a REALLY small portion, and most of it was over-ripe. Service was slower than average, so overall, this was just an okay experience for me.

Yelp
Walked over for brunch before taking in a movie at Studio Park one Friday and so glad we did! The restaurant is quite small but very charming with the nicest staff!! Our waitress gave us recommendations and we took her up on all of her suggestions. Our cocktails were delicious and had a great kick! I got the Littlebird breakfast sandwich with bacon instead of ham and that b bun was to die for!! The potatoes were also fantastic. Although the sandwich was great the French omelet with crawfish was AMAZING!!! We weren't sure about it when ordering but we could have eaten two of them between the two of us because it was that good!! Seriously the balance of flavors with the crunch of the wonton chips was unmatched! We will for sure return!

Yelp
Best burger I've ever had. The smash burger is cooked to perfection and the buns are the best you've ever tasted. Like a cloud covered in deliciousness. The misses got this stuffed pappardelle and it was to die for! The place is adorably charming And the service, very nice.
google avatar

Michael P.

Yelp
The best breakfast I've had in a very long time, and absolutely the best breakfast sandwich I have ever had. The potatoes on the side were also the best I have ever had. Even the coffee was remarkable. Service was exceptional, anticipatory, and thorough. I couldn't possibly have asked for more.

Yelp
What an amazingly unique gem right downtown Grand Rapids. My mom and I stopped in for a snack and drink and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Our server was so friendly (as was all staff) and knowledgeable of food items. He made us feel welcome and explained items that we were unsure of. We loved the Dram adaptogenic drink, the cider and bloomin mushroom. The menu is very unique with dishes you likely can't get many places. It's very quaint with some outdoor seating as well. I can't wait to go back and try the smash burger!

Yelp
First time at this spot and it was fantastic!!! My husband had the basic eggs, bacon and toast. It was far from basic though. The bacon was crisp, eggs perfectly cooked and garnished with a sprinkling of chives and the porridge bread was amazing. I had the French omelette with Boursin cheese and chives, which was delicious. It was served with a lovely salad and toast. We sat at the bar with Jorge and he was wonderful. Great vibe and outstanding staff!!! Market market over I think it's I think it's over maybe but they said that it's kind of sketchy over there

Yelp
Little bird has little mimosa, a little salad $9 bucks, give little tip, u suck, gosh lower prices, or add more product I could get a bag of lettuce and make a better salad, not even served in a chilled bowl, I usually tip cash and on card, I did vote with dollars, not real bright response, expected better, did not receive, good luck stand by your little portion bird
google avatar

Apryl W.

Yelp
The French toast was really good. I'd hold the rhubarb jelly next time though. Too tart for me. The bacon was good but I wish I had gotten the pork belly instead for something a little more substantial. Welcoming and efficient staff. I'd go back.

Yelp
I'm still sad that Littlebird got rid of the BEST kale Caesar salad in town, but they are forgiven because everything else is so delicious. I'd heard great things about their burger, so we stopped in before a show recently to try it. I'd mostly been to Littlebird for brunch on previous visits. Everyone was right, the burger is incredible. The patties were perfectly seasoned and cooked well, and I liked that the pickles were really thin and not overpowering. The milk bread bun was soft but buttery and toasted, and held up well to the patties. The fries that came with it were amazingly crispy on the outside and really soft and pillowy inside. I think they could've used a tiny bit more salt, but overall this burger and fries combo is by far my current favorite in all of Grand Rapids. We also got a small plate to share, the roasted peppers. This was not a visually stunning dish but it was packed with flavor and we loved it. The baba ganoush was super savory and delicious, and the smoked tomato-soy maple gave it just the right amount of sweetness. I didn't expect to love this dish as much as I did. There are only a few issues with Littlebird, one being that their menu changes seasonally which means if you find a dish you love (ahem, like a kale Caesar salad) it may not be there forever. The other issue is that the space itself is very cozy, or small. They do take reservations, so if you are able to plan ahead, I'd highly recommend that route. I've been able to walk in and sit at the bar most times I've visited, but I often come at off peak times. The food at Littlebird is unique and delicious without being overly pretentious.

Yelp
I never write reviews for bad service...but we went in on a Sunday morning at 8am following a show at Devos the night prior. It was an anniversary weekend. The night prior we had an awesome meal with spectacular service at Butchers Union. My wife was really excited to try Little Bird out and the location was perfect. I was just having coffee while my wife ate. Our server seemed genuinely upset that we came in to eat there. She never introduced herself, asked how we were, or made any attempt at all to be somewhat friendly. My coffee was empty, and my wife was halfway through her meal when our server just dropped off the check and left. I was totally surprised. Then she never came back.....what?! I had drunk 2 cups of coffee, my wife's breakfast sandwich is halfway eaten, and apparently the meal is over and they expect you to pay up and get out. I was shocked. The restaurant had one other table present, literally. My wife's food looked awesome and she loved it! I remember appreciating the people that paid my bills as I waited tables and bartended back in the day. She really did make the dining experience on my anniversary weekend suck. I really love paying for an awesome dining experience, but feel equally as awful paying $3.50 for a single egg when it served with side of apathy fit for Golden Coral. Sorry, I really wanted to like this place, and probably would have, had someone else been scheduled that day. She sucks....for real

Yelp
My hope was to grab a quick and reasonably healthy lunch. The Little Gem salad was divine. I'm going to TRY to recreate that at home. Same with the Curry Lentil soup - it was by far the best lentil soup I have ever had. Service by Catherine was attentive, friendly and well paced. Even the iced tea was so fresh. I HIGHLY recommend Littlebird.

Yelp
Visiting from Carolinas and wanted to try some vegan food in GR Downtown, this had some good vegan yelp reviews so thought of giving it a try. They have really nice outside seating and it's farm to table so this is great. My review is primarily based on food, this is the first time I liked a burger that much, so very good. Being a vegan we had very very limited options, would be nice to see some more. Staff was very accommodating and were upfront on what vegan options can they accommodate that was very much appreciative. The Romanesco (the only one of the vegan option on menu) was considered a large plate but it was definitely not enough for one person, I left hungry from the place which wasn't the best feeling. Overall I would recommend it.

Yelp
The warmth of the staff and the quality of the food made our visit very special. I took a group of 9 to the restaurant and the manager came over to greet us and gave us some history of the owners and the restaurant. It is locally owned and the I will definitely be going back. One tip - don't skip desert! It was delicious.
google avatar

Ojus P.

Yelp
Able to snag outside seats and enjoy top tier brunch Omelette French Omelet topped with Boursin & Herbs - 4/5. Average omelette but creamy and delicious cream topping. Fine salad and crispy potatoes. Bread Pudding French Toast - 5/5. Rich mascarpone, punchy citrus cubes, berry sauce. Complement the core tasty French toast very well. They make their own juices as well!

Yelp
Fantastic find in downtown Grand Rapids. The atmosphere is hip and casual. A small but refined and perfectly executed menu. It is a small place so call ahead for reservations on Friday and Saturday. The wagu smash burger was without a doubt the best burger I've ever had. The French fries were equally as awesome. A must try when in the area!

Tim H.

Yelp
Everything was top notch from the wait staff to the food! We had the chicken and waffles which was the best I have ever had! Highly recommend this restaurant. You will love this place!

Pam ..

Yelp
The food and service was exemplary! The chicken and waffles are absolutely mouthwatering and unique. The server was informative and excited about the food. This is a must on your list!!!

Yelp
One of our favorite places to have breakfast! The food is so tasteful and the coffee is wonderful! Plus during the summer it is so fun to eat outside in downtown Grand Rapids!
google avatar

Yelp
Fresh ingredients and delicious brunch food! I got an omelette and the cherry compote french toast which I think was seasonal I tried the mimosas as well and they were great! Bar seating, but it is a smaller and more intimate space! Servers are very attentive! Great for a girls date brunch!

Yelp
This farm to table good preparation was on point. Loved the salad. So unique and filled with umami flavour. Burger was basic but filling and the Boursin cream on the omelette was delicious. The potatoes were super crispy. Our server was fantastic and so sweet. Food came quickly on a busy Sunday morning.

Yelp
Every time I come here I leave feeling full and happy! Each plate is interesting and complex. I got a broccoli salad with a peanut sauce and pickled apples that where put of this world. The service is great, I always feel like they are attentive and eager to answer any questions I might have! This is one of my favorite places in Grand Rapids!

Yelp
We loved going to this place for breakfast on Saturday mornings. Be sure to get there early enough to find a spot, since it is small. We try to sit out side when the weather is good. I love good French toast, and the many variety of hash and omelettes, that are locally sourced. Servers are attentive and friendly.

Brett L.

Yelp
Best in Grand Rapids IMO! Small cozy and the food is always unique. Drinks and wine selection are some of the best in town! I love this place
google avatar

Drew B.

Yelp
The menu was very creative and the few times I've visited the food was very tasty. I'm usually not a big breakfast guy but this place has flipped me. All the staff is nice and building is clean and unique.
google avatar

Yelp
Never disappointed! Amazing ingredients, flavors, and wait staff! We have probably been here 4-5 times now and enjoy dining at Little Bird. Specifically we have had the waygu steak, bread pudding French toast, and sweet potato hash... All 5 star. Uniquely different but all top notch and bursting with flavor. They have some fun cocktails for brunch as well which is always fun! Headed there here in a few for once last stop before we leave!

Yelp
Staff was nice. Not fresh oj. I strictly drink freshly squeezed oj. The meal was good and healthy.

Yelp
I went to Little Bird after not going there for a couple of years. Glad I did! It has great atmosphere. The food is fantastic. The bartender is attentive. great service. Great food.

Yelp
I had previously gone to Littlebird and had an awful experience due to a rude hostess. Recently, a friend suggested going to the restaurant. Reluctantly, I agreed. Walking towards the entrance, there was a group of people, including two staff members, trapped inside their "warming" shelter located just outside the restaurant. We provided aid for their escape before walking inside. Once inside, we were quickly seated at a table not too far from the door. The staff entering and exiting the restaurant allowed the near freezing wind to gust through the restaurant. We asked to be seated towards the back to avoid the windstorm and we were accommodated. Unfortunately, even at the back of the restaurant, we could easily feel the gust of freezing wind sweep through the restaurant. It was not pleasant. We suggested to our waitress that the owner may want to consider installing a temporary wind block as there are at Rose's or the Greenwell. We were informed that this was not allowed due to building code. This was unbelievable, considering the temporary plastic sheet dining room that was placed outside on the sidewalk. Nevertheless, the setting and the limited menu that included a $19 wagyu burger and an $18 chicken sandwich, we decided to leave instead of enduring an overpriced meal in an over chilled cave. I call strike two, but wait! Littlebird hit an in-field fly ball and was an easy out. I won't be returning and neither will my friend, who owns a very successful restaurant and knows a thing or two about doing things right. Bye, bye, Littlebird.

Yelp
Amazing meal for a fantastic price! I loved the Halibit and enjoyed the old fashioned just as much! Definitely recommend and will plan to come again next time we are in town.

Yelp
Start with dessert the buttermilk donut holes are the best. Jorge is the best. He always takes care of the customer with good recommendations. The menus is always changing which makes coming back a treat. I had tempura pumpkin which was paired with a pumpkin pure with fermented peach. It had a great taste.

Yelp
Came here with my fiance for breakfast around 10 am on a Sunday. It was indeed busy, but we got seated at the bar right away. The bartender had lots of energy, and he walked us through some items on the menu. The decor was simple but enough because the food showed for itself. Ambiance was quiet but nice. We ordered grapefruit juice that was bitter and tarte, not pictured. I ordered the two eggs over easy, potatoes, and toast. The toast is made in-house along with the fruit jam. Potatoes were crispy and delicious. It was a simple breakfast but hit the spot. My fiance ordered the boursin omelet and a side of pork belly. He says that this is the best omelet he has ever had! The bartender gave us great service and if we are in the area again we would come back.

Yelp
I haven't stopped thinking about the brunch I had at Littlebird since visiting. I tried the overnight oats and a sweet potato hash where I substituted the egg for tofu to make it vegan. The whole meal was to die for but the overnight oats were the star of the show. If I'm ever in the area again I'll certainly be back. The restaurant itself was nice and has a diner-like charm about it. Plus they have an outdoor seating area which is great. I came solo so I sat at the bar top and was waited on by the bartender who was very nice and attentive. I never went without coffee or water refills and she even offered to give me a to go cup to bring my coffee with me. My only complaint is they only have one bathroom but that on its own is not enough to take any stars away.
