This restaurant offers good food and a pleasant atmosphere, but there are a few things to keep in mind. We had to wait about 30 minutes for a table, so I recommend arriving early or calling ahead to join the waitlist. It’s a very popular spot, which is a testament to its reputation. The staff was friendly and attentive. Our server gave us excellent recommendations and made us feel comfortable and well cared for throughout our visit. As for the food, it seemed fresh and flavorful. I ordered the “Liu’s House Special Soup” as my base. While the flavor was good, it was too oily for my taste and felt a bit heavy on my stomach. If you have a sensitive stomach, I suggest trying a different option. My boyfriend chose the “Signature White Pepper Chicken Soup,” which had a nice balance of flavors and was much lighter. Overall, the food was enjoyable, but one major downside was that the plates and utensils were not thoroughly clean. Hopefully, it’s something they can improve, especially given how busy they are. One unique feature is that they don’t sell alcohol, but you’re allowed to bring your own, which is a nice touch. In summary, it’s a good place with tasty food and great service. Despite a few drawbacks, I would recommend giving it a try!

Google
the quality of the food seemed good and fresh. there are so many different soup bases to choose from. I went with the pork bone with chinese herb. the house special soup base was good as well, but medium spice was too spicy for me. I preferred the subtlety of the pork bone base. it was super busy during lunch time, every table was filled. that being said, service was a bit slow due to how busy it was. I could tell they were trying their best though, so I wasn’t upset at it taking a longer. the fresh watermelon juice was perfect for all the hot meat and soup.

Google
Reviews are FALSE! Horrible customer service. I came here while in town and I’m so disappointed. Once my order was placed, no one came to check on us. It was my first time here. No one explained to us that we were able to get up and get sauces and spices for our broth. Our waitress never came back to our table yet we paid for the “all you can eat and drinks.” At the end, I asked for our check. The waiter offered a free dessert in exchange for a 5 star review. This is very disappointing considering I came to this place based on google reviews and it seems like they just bribe customers with free desserts. SMH. I spoke to the waiter and told him I would not give them a 5 star review due to the poor customer service and being overcharged for things that weren’t explained to us. I had no problem paying but don’t expect a 5 star review. He offered me $20 off for next time.. no thank you! Not coming back. This place is not it. Don’t waste your money.

The hot pot was absolutely delightful, brimming with rich flavors that danced on my palate. The meat was exceptionally fresh, adding a wonderful texture to the dish. The atmosphere of the restaurant was inviting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy quality time with friends and family.

Google
Me and my family had an amazing time at this restaurant! The hot pot was so delicious and kept us full for the rest of the day. The atmosphere was very clean and all the staff was very friendly and attentive. I definitely recommend going here if you are a hotpot lover!

Google
The food here is really good, if you know what to order of course! The brown sugar cold jelly was especially good. Staff was friendly and helpful throughout the whole experience. Will definitely come again!

Google
Great service! We waited about 40 minutes on a Saturday night. The waitress was quick and spoke both English and Chinese. The food came out quickly and they were quick to refill out broths. Best hot pot in houston! We will definitely be back whenever we are craving hot pot

Google
Had an amazing experience at Liuyishou Hotpot! The food was fresh and high quality, and the flavors were incredible. The service was just as great—friendly, attentive, and super helpful. Even though we’re relatively new to hot pot, the staff took the time to guide us through the menu and helped us find everything we liked. It made the whole experience even better! Definitely looking forward to coming back. Highly recommend!

Yelp
I personally think this is the best hotpot place in town (other than haidilou for sure. But in terms of price value ratio, this is definitely better). The place has a lot of tables and the staff is very efficient, so I think the place turns table fairly quickly and I don't think we've ever waited for too long even on weekends. There isn't really an area for waiting, but they have snacks and cotton candy for waitlisted customers. Very typical AYCE Chinese style hotpot. The soup flavors are very on point and I like the ingredient options for the dipping sauces. Lius House Spicy Soup Base with beef tallow is very good, but the vegetable oil alternative is also pretty good in my opinion. The Chicken Soup with Fish Maw is also very tasty if you're looking for a non-spicy option. Another thing is their portion is not consistent, so after initial round of orders, if you want more I would do 2-3 plate orders at a time. (P.S. For anyone looking for Chinese style hot pot dipping sauce recipe - I always some variation of: minced garlic + chopped pickled Thai chili + sesame sauce and / or peanut sauce + sesame oil + shacha/ XO sauce + tiny bit of Chinese fermented bean curd + light soy sauce + dark vinegar + a dash of sugar + shit ton of cilantro. I usually skip the scallion, I think it gives a bit of a weird filmy after-texture on my teeth. )

Yelp
Went on a Saturday evening and the wait was about 45 minutes - 1 hour for our party of 6. The pork bone broth & their premium spicy beef tallow broth was delicious! We had our spice level set at medium since some party members couldn't handle too much spice, but it was still very flavorful & gave a nice kick. Service was good, despite how busy it was for the night, our server did a good job delivering our orders.

Andrew C.

Yelp
You want to love this place, but understand why people don't. First off, decent selection of broths and meats. Their AYCE option is for AYCE (26.95 pp, +2 on weekends) but you need to pay for the broth ($7 to $15 depending if you want to split broth or get a small) on top. Food can come quick once you're able to order. Meats, veggies, noodles, tofu selections all alright. What is lacking is the service. The situation: Get seated at 6p, order gets taken at 6:15, 6:30 food arrives but no broth to eat the food. Broth finally arrives 6:45. We paid the bill at 8p while finishing the rest of our food and drinks. Waiter/owner comes by saying we are past our 2 hour limit and need to leave. Great customer service Beware that 2 hour limit is irregardless of actually ordering or getting food. Would definitely give some of the other hotpot spots a try based on this experience.

Yelp
My friend and I decided to try this new Ramen spot in Chinatown (Mensho). However, when I arrived the hostess informed me that it will be an hour & 45 minute wait which is ridiculously long considering it's been opened for a month & 2 weeks already. I was already waiting for 30 mins and didn't see the line progressing. So we just went next door to this spot. I was relived to see it wasn't that busy but it did pick up once we started eating. Our server attended to us right away & explained the menu. While he was friendly & helpful I honestly felt a little rushed from him, but nonetheless he did his job. So the AYCE for dinner is 28.99, which isn't bad but what's crazy is that you have to order the broth as well; and that's another 13.95. Who is going to a hot pot restaurant & not get the broth? You might as well just say $43 AYCE. A little deceiving but hey what can you do about it. They have several dishes on the menu that's not included with the AYCE, so those items are at an extra charge. Sauce station is labeled with a fair amount to choose from. They also have ice cream & fruits for desserts. We decided to order two broths; Tom Yum Soup & Pork Bone Broth. The Tom yum broth was bursting with flavor & it packed some heat to it. I was expecting a little more lemongrass but it was still a delicious broth. All the meats/veggies/noodles we got were pretty good especially the snowflake slice beef. It was nicely marbled, tendered and fresh. There was one item I ordered & I can't recall the name but it was vile. Other than that, everything else was good. Overall, the service was good & quick, the food was solid & the ambiance is cool. Will I come back? Yes

Yelp
I got to try liuyishou hotpot in Houston for a birthday dinner. It's been on my list of places to try in Dallas but I moved before I could get the chance. I got their house special soup base as an individual pot. I thought that I would get the cow soup base that would melt but I didn't know that it was only for the large pots I also got it with mild spice but it was still pretty spicy still. For meats I tried their snowflake sliced beef, new Zealand lamb, porkbelly, and crystal beef. My favorite was the lamb, since it is pretty fatty. It cooks really fast and will never be tough. I really liked this fortune bag looking item where tofu/bean curd is wrapped in a money bag design and filled with roe. I also got their lobster balls, fried bean curd roll, quail eggs, cabbage; and enoki mushrooms. Overall this is a pretty solid place, but I don't think it's worth the price because they charge for the soup base on top of the all you can eat fee, so it ends up being more expensive than you would expect. The Dallas location seems a little better in my opinion.

Linda T.

Yelp
AYCE does not include broths. Nevertheless, I got house special and Chinese herbal. Broths are good but unfortunately, I did not get to see the cute cow melting. Their mildest version is extremely spicy, which I like so beware for those who are not used to real spicy level. There's a good amount of meat selections, all good. Mussels are huge. Vegetables look like it's been sitting out for awhile and old. Everything was good until I opened the drawer on the side to grab more napkins. There's a lot of mice droppings! This disgusted me. Thinking it's just one drawer, I opened the one below where they store the bibs, there's even more mice droppings! I have been eying this hotpot restaurant for awhile. I mean, it has to be good considering it's from Canada and there's always long waits. Mice droppings is normal for restaurants but I have higher expectations here as it's almost $100 for 2 people on a Saturday night.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite hot pot places. You do need to come in first and put yourself on the waiting list and once you sit down, you have two hours. It's all you can eat. The waiter and waitress are quick and fast. There is also a bar where you can make your own sauces and get some sides. The table and chairs are really clean . Even though it's hot pot, the place is not that hot and is very comfortable. The quality of their food is really good. I recommend people who's never had hotspot before to come here. They also asked if there's anyone that has not been here before and they gave them a brief how to eat hot pot. We came around 6 PM on a Saturday night summertime And had about a 15 minute wait for a party of 4. Parking is out front and free . I like to park in the open and not in the garage. as always, make sure there's nothing in your car to avoid any possible break-ins.

Matthew C.

Yelp
Although the food is amazing, that isn't the star of this place. The customer service is absolutely fantastic. Very kind, very attentive, very professional and quick. The food really is great though and the variety is awesome. I definitely recommend the pork herbal, tom yum, mushroom, and tomato broths. For meats, I enjoyed the pig ear, lamb, fatty beef, beef aorta, frog legs, tripe, crispy pork, shrimp ball... Everything lol. 100% visiting again when I'm in the area. Unfortunately I forgot to take good pictures of the food until it was all gone haha.

Matthew C.

Yelp
This is solid hot pot place but nothing special IMO. Pros: The meat quality is pretty good, and better quality than most other similar-price places I've tried in Houston. In particular, I enjoyed the beef brisket and pork belly. The broths are very flavorful, and some of them do get very spicy which is a plus for me. Also, their bread rolls are very good. Cons: Overall, their side dish/seafood/salad bar is fairly small (at least at the Houston location) and a bit lacking in variety. I'd say I recommend this place if you mostly want to eat meat, if you want more variety Shabu En provides more of that. Also, the $28.95 price is a bit misleading, since they also charge you extra for any hot pot broths you want, which is a bit strange and I've never really seen at other places.

Vicky L.

Yelp
Quite delicious hot pot spot in Chinatown that is AYCE! Same price all day lunch or dinner though they charge for the soup base and a small fee for additional unlimited non-alcoholic drinks and desserts. The space is decent sized but the tables are not very well thought out for eating with a group of more than two people. The way the table and chair arms are makes it hard to move around and swish-swish-slurp from the big hot pot. You need to let your host know upfront if you want to have individual hotpot vs big pot because that'll affect where you will be seated. The parking can be difficult since it is in Chinatown after all, with many other restaurants and retailers around. The menu is heavy and you can leave one on the table for ordering purposes later on. The server will take your order and bring the food/drinks out to the table, so head to the sauce bar once you place your first round. The sauce bar has less amount of sauces compared to other places I've been to but A-OK. There are a few cold appetizers, fresh fruits, and mini cake desserts at the bar too. The meat quality is very good and the seafood is fresh. There is an abundance of types of vegetables you can order here. The broth is also rich and tasty, but it is hard to slurp/drink the soup since they don't use bowls like most hotpot places do, instead they have flat rectangular shaped plates. The dessert menu here is more limited too...you have to order at a la carte prices if doesn't have the AYCE logo next to the menu item. All in all, its a good hotpot spot that'll satisfy your craving for unlimited hotpot food, so check it out and let me know what you think!

Jessica N.

Yelp
Not as great as I expected. Maybe I went on an off day but the meat was not as tender and did not look as appetizing. I wish they had more options for meat in terms of beef. I did like the Bone Broth that I chose as it was perfect for adjusting with the sauces. I did like the various options of veggies like King Oyster Mushroom and Enoki. I also enjoyed the Fried Pork snack. I heavily enjoyed the shrimp paste over shrimp balls and highly recommend that. If you come, prepare to wait as the service was slow but it was crowded so I didn't mind. I love the booths and pillows for the chairs! Overall, 7/10.

Sophie T.

Yelp
I was really excited to come try this place out because it's so highly rated and this place looks and smells fantastic. However, I was disappointed by my experience here. I'm starting to think it only has so many high ratings because people get free desserts if they write a Google review and show it... Anyways, I feel like it's quite a rip off when a hot pot place is AYCE, but then charges for the soup base (which you NEED for hot pot). In addition, the waiters took forever to come place my orders, the food was mediocre, and the soup bases were awful. It's very unlikely I will be visiting again. The quality of the meats was the only good thing about this visit. We got the Snowflake Sliced Select Beef and Sliced New Zealand Lamb. Both of them were super tender, had a good ratio of meat to fat, and were sliced well. In addition, the Japanese Sukiyaki broth was pretty good, but the Liu's House Special Soup Base (Premium Beef Tallow) was terrible. It was beyond oily, filled with inedible seeds and dried peppers, and had an unpleasant taste. My mom and I were searching the surrounding places for ice cream or any type of dessert to get rid of the unpleasant oil feel in our mouths after. Overall, I don't recommend for anyone to come here. There are so many other better AYCE hot pot restaurants around the area that are cheaper and 10x more delicious. My advice to you would be to save your money and eat somewhere else!

Krystal L.

Yelp
Liuyishou is another AYCE hotpot location in Chinatown. They offer a variety of soup bases and items for their hotpot. They open until pretty late on the weekends. I have been a couple of times, and my favorite broth is the duck with Chinese pickled radish soup base. I have also tried Liu's House Special soup base with beef tallow in mild. Please start low on the spicy level or else you and your stomach and body will regret that decision. My spice tolerance is not the worst, so I can definitely handle some heat. However, the mild I ordered that night almost put me and my group into cardiac arrest. I think our mouths and noses were numb for like two hours after. If you like mind and body numbing spice, then I think this would be perfect for you. Some of my favorite items they offer are the home made shrimp paste and the house made noodles. The shrimp paste is really good and fresh. The noodles are chewy and bouncy. They also have a sauce and snack bar with rolls and desserts. The AC is weak in there, so I recommend dressing super light. You can feel everyone's steaming pot. We usually come out super sweaty, but at least we were burning calories while eating which might actually be a plus. The servers also come and check on us quite often during lunchtime, but there is a dinner time rush and service might be a bit expectedly slow during then. They also offer a 10% discount if you finish your dinner within one hour (5pm - 8pm). Overall, I think Liuyishou is a great place for satisfying your hotpot cravings and has a lot to offer and opens late at night.

Noname S.

Yelp
Speedy and great service. Meats taste great and they always ensure you have enough broth. Only waited maybe 5min from order to delivery of beef on a Saturday

Chrissy P.

Yelp
I really enjoyed my time here, it was super chill! The only thing I didn't care for was being rushed into leaving/paying the bill. I'm not sure if they have people that have walked out on them or whatever... but the way they kept coming back after saying that we weren't ready was annoying. The place wasn't overly noisy I was able to hear the person across from me.. I also liked that I was able to get half and half and not be stuck with the other persons choice of broth. I don't feel like we waited long to get served, it was an average amount of time to me. Parking can be wild if you go at night.. or on the weekends, so make sure you plan early to find a place to park.

Yelp
After a well deserved massage we decided to browse for food options. This place stood out as it was something we have never done. Location: under oasis massage Wait time: we were lucky to be able to just walk in and be seated. After seating down we noticed line started forming and many people wait to enjoy this place. Price: average-high, there is a buffet price per person add $2 for weekends and price can add up depending on type of meats, base and other Items picked. We ended up paying @$130 for 3 people. But we got full way past our limit, so yes lots of food. Drink: we order a watermelon drink which taste just like agua frescas. Very sweet , natural and refreshing. Food: I opt for shrimp only with a spicy base I think Tom yum was called. Lots of veggies options and noodles. Others asked for multiple meats and they said their fave was octopus. Seating: inside, booth or table option. Food display is buffet style, walk to the back pick up tray or bowls and get your own sauce, fruit and add ons. Trays are small to someone like me that is new to hot pot. I definitely over did it . Staff: Rebecca was phenomenal, very patient with us and took the time to explain how it all worked. Also answered every question we had, which were lots. Once food arrived we were giving bibs to avoid splashing ourselves. She also showed us where extra napkins are kept, how to cook and how long. Overall great first time experience and will be coming again.

Quynh-Anh V.

Yelp
I come here religiously at least twice a month, and still has the best selection of veggies/seafood + broth quality in Houston! Love it here.

Ethan L.

Yelp
There was a choice of doing small individual pots or doing the classic big pot that is split with 2 broths. My friend and I did it individually since we did not want to wait longer for a table that had a big pot, but the wait was only about 10 minutes. You can provide your phone number to get a text when your table is ready to walk around the plaza and explore. I got the House Special Soup Base (Premium Beef Tallow). It was Szechuan based and was super spicy even for someone who enjoys spicy things so beware! My friend got the tomato soup base which was creamy and delicious. My favorite proteins were the snowflake sliced beef and sliced New Zealand lamb since these were super soft. Some honorable mentions for sides were the fish tofu, wontons, homemade noodles, udon, potato starch noodles, and deep fried pork slices. Be careful if you have a low spice tolerance since the pork slices do have a bit of spicy seasoning on it. There was overall good service. Our server was very patient and explained the process very well. The staff were also very attentive and came multiple times to make sure we didn't need to order any additional sides. The restaurant was very aesthetic as well with lots of seating. There was a bar in the back to make your dipping sauce and get additional sides. They also had good Chinese songs playing in the background and the noise level was not too loud in general.

Marie N.

Yelp
Hotpot is one of my favorite foods. We called in a reservation for lunch and were seated really fast. The store seems to be understaffed and our server was running all over the place, but we still got everything we wanted in a reasonable amount of time. The selection of meats and broths were amazing though. I opted for the Liu's house special spicy soup base (mild) because apparently it can get extremely spicy. The mild was tolerable, but even then some of my friends could not eat it. We ordered almost every meat cut available and also the lamb skewers. The lamb was not gamey at all! Some notable mentions are the stuffed tofu with fish roe and fresh shrimp (my favorite thing to get) and also the potato noodles! The restaurant is really nice and fancy. There is no ventilation above your tables though so expect to smell like hot pot after.

Alyssa E.

Yelp
This is my favorite hotpot so far in Houston! I'm surprised I haven't made a review yet, I've been here so many times. Always came for dinner! Price is $26.95/person and on weekends/holidays + $2.00/person on top of that. It's a little different here where the soup bases aren't included in the price, so it varies in price which soup base you choose. We always get the 'two flavor soup base.' FYI - if you get either the beef tallow or vegetable oil house special soup base in 'mild,' let me tell you here right NOW it is EXTRA SPICY. I personally love it, but depending on the day sometimes that "mild" is a little too much, but it does flavor the meat so so good!! It's addicting. But just be aware! My mistake was putting bean curd roll in there which soaked up all the soup, and literally had me fighting for my life from the spice lol. They're not playing around. My favorite so far is the Tom yum soup base + duck soup base. Meat here is TOP! It's so good and they give you lots per plate so don't order a lot in one go. Sliced New Zealand lamb is my favorite! Their menu has a lot to choose from, and you can make your own sauce in the back. I do wish they had a lot more options for the sauce though. Overall 10/10 would highly recommend again and again

Paul C.

Yelp
Love it. This restaurant is buried among the numerous Korean, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Malaysian shops and restaurants in this congested collection of strip stores. I don't have intel to compare with other nearby hot pot options, but I can vouch that this one was pretty good. Service was very good on our visit. Our waitress did a nice job describing the process. I really like that as she placed our orders on an iPad device, the kitchen staff already started brining items out. I have to assume they were were reading our order in real-time. I liked the condiments and appetizer station. It was clean and organized. I would definitely eat here again!

Shayla P.

Yelp
The first time I came here, my sister called and made a reservation. When we arrived, we were told we had no reservation and that we would have to wait an hour. After some back and forth and showing proof of our phone call, we were able to be seated. The next time I came, our server was constantly socializing with other workers so we could not order. Eventually, the host noticed we had been looking around with no food for a while, and came to take our order in our server's place. This was a little frustrating because we were also rushed to finish our food once it came. At the end of the meal, we ended up being charged an extra weekend fee AND holiday fee that we were unaware of. We dined here on December 16th, so I'm not sure why a holiday fee was applied. Overall, the food was good, but the service made the experience incredibly frustrating, and we were charged with random additional fees on top of that.

Kacy M.

Yelp
I came here with a friend for their AYCE menu ($26.95). The restaurant is located in the Dun Huang plaza and was very clean. Our waiter wasn't friendly which was a slight turn off. We got an assortment of meats and veggies but the ones that stood out the most were the shrimp paste balls and the sliced beef. The meats had good marbling. Overall it was good but didn't wow me.

James S.

Yelp
This place is killer for AYCE hot pot! Arrived at 5:30pm on a weekday and was able to quickly get a seat. Ordered half and half pot, and tried the house spicy (mala) soup and mushroom soup. First time Ive seen a house soup that is customizable in terms of spiciness level, so def take advantage of that-- or alternatively, try on of the around 10 other soup broths. The menu is interesting in that theres many items included in AYCE, and some items that incur a +$3-5 fee. I wasn't sure what to make of this at first, but think its fair b/c the premium items were all pretty good, and the overall portion size for all the items were on the large size. Quite easy to come in a group of 4 and still only try a fraction of their menu. They also can do AYCD beverages for an additional fee, which is pretty cool since they give you a whole carafe -- but requires the entire table to do AYCD. The place also has a self serve sauce bar and appetizers. Overall flavor, quality of ingredients, authenticity, service speed, value, etc all top notch! Highly recommended! As a data point, this chain also has a location in the Bay Area, but its more expensive and not AYCE.

Lesley M.

Yelp
Liuyishou Hot Pot was a very average, middle-of-the-road hot pot restaurant. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Monday evening. It is located in a very lively shopping center in Bellaire, so parking is quite challenging. There was a 15ish minute wait, and after we were informed that our table was ready we had to wait a few more minutes for the table to actually be cleaned. Our service was good. Our servers took our order quickly and brought the food out promptly. They did forget a few items here or there, but that does not really surprise me considering how much we ordered! The restaurant did not offer large bowls for the soup or broth which made eating interesting. We did the choose two soup base and the all you can eat for four. We chose the duck with Chinese pickled radish soup base and the chicken soup with fish maw base. My preference was the duck soup base but both were very good and flavorful. I was not a fan of most of the meat that was brought to the table. I did not like the flavor of the beef or the lamb; however, this could just be my personal preference. The shrimp and other seafood items we ordered were all very good! Regardless of my preferences, all of the ingredients were fresh! The frog legs were a huge hit with our table but BEWARE - these tiny little frog legs are hot, hot, hot! I went through multiple glasses of water and had to ultimately get up and search for some cold fruit to calm the burn in my mouth, and I love spice! Overall, I did not feel like there was anything particularly special about Liuyishou Hot Pot, especially for the price point. Not bad but not great.

Uyen D.

Yelp
It's delicious one of the best hotpot places I've been to. The ambiance is great, and it's definitely worth the price.

Megan W.

Yelp
We arrived a couple hours before closing time, and there was a very long waiting list. Even after you are seated, you can tell that the waiters are managing several tables. Nonetheless, our service was great throughout the night. As for the food, you have to pay extra for the soup base. Every AYCE hot pot restaurant that I've been to includes the soup in the meal price. The cost for the soup also fluctuates based on size, type of soup, split, etc. For the hype, we got the spicy with the frozen cow split with regular. I do not recommend getting the frozen cow -- it left a huge layer of oil on top of the broth. All of our vegetables were drenched in the oil. The sauce bar and hotpot selection are decent, but they also have dessert options and fruit!

Zihao L.

Yelp
Very delicious and authentic Sichuan Hotpot! Good service! Prices are quite reasonable.

Yelp
Liuyishou 9889 Bellaire Blvd Suite C-309, Houston, TX 77036 If you want hot pot full of flavors and packing some heat, then Liuyishou is where it's at! I don't recall exactly what I ordered, but all I know is that it all went to my tummy! #Tonylameats #liuyishouhotpot #houston #hotpot #bellaire

Yelp
Arrived on a weekday ~6:20 pm and snagged one of the last open tables. They don't take reservations for less than 4 people, so prepare for a wait if you arrive at peak times, which seem to start ~6:30 pm. There were at least 6 people standing in line (that I could see inside) from that point on. Service 5/5 Food 4/5 Ambiance 4/5 Value 5/5 I haven't had AYCE hot pot since COVID so thought it was time to try again. Our bill for two ended up being $82 after tax for AYCE ($27/adult) + AYCD ($4/person) + split soup base ($14) + tax. Like Haidilao, you have to pay for your soup base. Note they have large and small portions (differently priced) but depending on which table you sit at, the stovetop can only accommodate one or the other. However the split soup base seems to be $14 regardless. I thought the soup base was a bit pricy but they do refill. They have a decent amount of options for soup base. We tried the sukiyaki and tom yum. Tom yum is definitely only for those who enjoy spicy. I took one bite and my mouth was burning for a bit. Sukiyaki was not as sweet as I expected and neither broths were drinkable as a soup imo. These were definitely cooking broths. I wonder if some of the more traditional broths (pork bone, mushroom) are more drinkable. Just a personal preference but I like a bit of soup with my hot pot. There is a sauce station with fruit and appetizers which is free of charge. The sauce ingredients were extensive but I didn't find ponzu sauce which was disappointing. I defaulted to the traditional xo sauce + vinegar + garlic + green onion. They have a cheat sheet of sauces you can refer to if you're not sure. My only complaint about the sauce station is that it felt "sticky." My OCD did not like that. The soy sauce and vinegar bottles were sticky from multiple hands. I wanted to wash my hands after every visit but the bathroom was always occupied. Wish there was a hand washing station outside. Ended using copious amounts of hand sanitizer. The service was great - there were always ~4 people walking around taking orders. I never felt like I was waiting on food or service. One nitpick is that I ordered spinach 3x throughout the night and never got it. It wasn't until halfway through the 2 hr service that they said they were out of spinach. The AYCD was worth it as you get a whole jug per order. We each got one and didn't feel bad about not ordering another as it was more than enough. Watermelon juice was fantastic, as well as the plum. At other places, just one jug of watermelon juice is $10, so $4 for AYCD felt like a bargain even though we didn't order more than one. Come to think of it, a cup of watermelon juice at the Local Bubble tea shop runs $5. The hot pot AYCE selection was extensive. Enough for anyone's preference. The menu is pretty easy to interpret - if there's a price, it's a la carte; if there's not, it's in the AYCE price. Note that the meat comes out like 15-20 pieces at a time so don't over order. We did find that if you ask for half orders or X number of pieces they will accommodate, so that was nice. They do warn of surcharge if there's an excess of food left. The other dishes come in smaller portions. My favorites were the lamb, Chinese yam, fish, and shrimp paste. All in all, I'd return as you get more food for a lower price point than most non AYCE places, but I will still go to my Katy favorite as it's bigger and cleaner and my OCD likes that.

Yelp
It's going on our favorites list! The spicy broth is no joke. I suggest sticking to the mild. It was pretty busy on a Sunday at 6. Parking can be hectic since it's in a strip mall with a ton of other restaurants but if you park in the garages, it's a little less stressful.

Yelp
Topping off an amazing hot pot dinner with a jelly brown sugar dessert was the absolute best. Highly recommend getting this to finish off your meal. It's big enough to share, but small enough to keep it for yourself.

Yelp
Okay wow, so this place is absolutely FIRE. I'm still craving it months after visiting. They have so much variety in their broths, veggie offerings (they have so many different types of mushrooms!), meats, noodles, and side dishes. I brought a friend who was vegetarian and my partner who is a big meat eater, and we all three had a wonderful time. They also are open super late! The place is clean and modern, and the server was nice and willing to explain the menu and how it worked (have to purchase the broth and AYCE). It could be hard at times to flag her down to order more items for the AYCE because it was a bit loud inside, but otherwise when we were able to get her attention, she was responsive and brought our orders out quickly.

Yelp
Very very solid hot pot joint. My top 3 in Houston so far. Personally I feel AYCE is a must when you have hot pot, otherwise you end up not getting a lot of diversity of ingredients. It also allows you to experiment with different veggies, tofus, etc. Liuyishou's selection is excellent, though they were out of one (forgot which). Highly recommend getting the meatballs and especially the snowflake sliced beef, which has amazing taste and texture, and cooks up soooooo quickly. I'd consider Liuyishou and Haidilao to have the best sliced beef in town for hot pot! Also, their house special broth is really really good, filled with lots of spices to make it super flavorful, mind the spice level, it'll soak into your veggies! Service is decent and the food comes pretty quick. The sides bar is decent. Three notes. 1) they should restock the bowls/plates after guests have left, or at least do it in a quieter way. The guy basically was just dumping the new ones into the tubs and it was super loud and distracting. 2) The fried buns kinda just sat there in the tub and not under a heat lamp so if it didn't come out fresh, it'll be room temp/cold and not super enjoyable. At least they have self-serve condensed milk :D 3) Pricing is not super easy to determine upfront, since there's the AYCE price but also adjusted for the broth(s) you order. The wait wasn't too long, and there's plenty of parking. Note, they have a 2 hour limit. Def going here again.

Yelp
One of the best ones I've been to and can you believe it's ayce?? This place had lots of variety and super delicious. I like how the broth is thick and flavorful. The meat was good and fresh . The shrimp paste was one of the best.

Yelp
The food itself was very good, and if you come in during a AYCE promotion, that makes things a whole lot better. The waiters were very patient with my broken Chinese, but the main point was that the 老板 owner was very adamant in getting you to give him a 5 star review so you can get the ice jelly 冰粉 for free... The service was incredibly slow and had to remind the servers about our orders several times before they would actually show up.

Yelp
Delicious! This place is expensive for all you can eat, but it is absolutely worth it. The broth is so fragrant and I can tell that the ingredients are fresh. That's what kind of makes the difference between good and bad hot pot. There is a two hour limit and they don't really enforce it unless it's busy and you'll definitely get kicked out if you stay past the time. I am never feel the need to get sauce because those broth is salty enough but the sauce bar has a lot of options and you can also get some other small dishes at the bar. Service was really quick and our waiter was very kind. I waited for almost an hour, but it's worth the wait!

Yelp
Terrible. Worse than my previous visit over a year ago. I came here last night because I wanted a midnight snack. I went to Friendship BBQ but they had a loud karaoke party going on. I didn't want Korean BBQ for $33 all-you can eat at 33 Hongdae. There weren't many choices at that hour. I thought about coming back to give an updated review since last one wasn't so great. Holy cow. It got worse. I walked in and the restaurant smelled like wet dogs kennel. There was air conditioning but not sure why it was stinky. I ordered an individual pot with cheapest soup base ($4.95). The whole thing costed me $36.70 after tax before tips. Everything I experienced from a year ago was the same. Labels at sauce bar still engraved and hard to read because they food spilled over the labels. The sauce dishes were close to the floor. Some dishes were with food stuck. Yeah. Dirty dishes. Funny thing was no one noticed my cup was cracked. Water leaked from the cup to the table and flown to the floor. I wonder why my water disappeared so fast. Ha! Thirsty ghost. I don't like this type of all you can eat. Waiter took my order of hot pot ingredients and it took him almost half hour to get vegetables after meat was served. I was full at that moment. But I managed to stuff myself. I see how they operate. The quantity was inconsistent. I got so much tripes. Come on. For one person. That was more than the meat trays. Then, vegetables were stale looking. I could eat that much vegetables for 3 days. I think they tried to get me to pay extra because I couldn't finish. Something like 500 mg leftover will get charged. Ok. I'm done with Liuyishuo. Never come back again, even if it was a free meal.

Yelp
I am a forever fan of Liuyishou. I know this place has a lot of hype, and when it opened in my hometown, it was almost impossible to get a seat without waiting at least four hours. I've been in such a hot pot mood lately, so I asked my friends to go when we visited our Houston friend. They'd never tried before, but I promised it was even better than some other cult chain favorites. They agreed because Liuyishou ALWAYS delivers! Their broth is top tier. I rarely come across a hot pot place that offers pig stomach broth, but theirs is so delicious. I love that they ask you how numbing/spicy you want the classic mala spicy broth to be. Ingredients are really high quality, and service is fantastic despite how busy it is. Their meat quality is also unbeatable. For the price?? Seriously amazing. It's only an extra $2 for the weekend. Oh, and did I mention it's AYCE? You seriously can't beat the price for value, quality, and top-notch service. I will always choose Liuyishou first every time I crave hot pot. I do wish they had a larger sauce bar and some more dessert options, but it's not a big deal given you'll be absolutely stuffed to the brim with their huge variety of ingredient options.

Yelp
overall this ayce hotpot is mid compared to other places in Chinatown. If you love spicy/mala broth & can handle it then this place definitely stands out compared to other places. the selections of ayce items were okay but I feel like you could get the same or even better selections at other places. the wait was super long on a Friday evening (we waited about 1.5 hrs) & the restaurant is kind of small for an ayce place. not sure if I'd come back if I had to wait that long again. however the staff was accommodating even though it was very busy

Yelp
WOW!! This place was just what we wanted from hotpot! We were searching for a great AYCE hotpot place, and this is somewhere we will be coming back!! You do have to do AYCE for each person at the table and pay for the soup base on top of that. Some other menu items cost extra as well. We made a reservation for Thursday night ~6:30pm just in case; however, we did see some empty tables walking in. They have tables for individual hotpot where each person can choose their own soup base or tables for shared hotpot, which is what we ended up doing. The soup bases were 10/10 delicious!! We got the liu's hot special soup base (medium spicy) and the duck with chinese pickled radish. The spice is definitely there for the spicy soup bases and we got the one that was recommended for less spicy. It is delicious but I did not want spicy broth so I ended up eating mostly out of the duck soup base, which was absolutely DELICIOUS!! We ordered a lot of different meats - beef, fatty beef, pork belly, lamb - all of which were delicious. They have the usual hotpot seafood and vegetables as well. ALL 10/10. There is a nice self-service bar where you can make your own dipping sauces for the meat. The sesame paste is something I haven't had before, and I loved adding to my own sauce! Lot of good options for sauce, and they even provide a sauce guide on the table if you are unsure what sauces you want to mix together. At the self-service bar, there was also a nice variety of fruits - pineapple, strawberry, oranges, honey dew. They also had my favorite - the sesame balls with red bean paste inside - SO GOOD!! I ate like 6 of them haha Overall, we are so happy that we tried this place as we will definitely come back when we are craving hotpot in the future! It is our favorite hotpot place as of now!

Yelp
This place is terrible!! My server was extremely rude his name Leon. He said he was a manager but was not welcoming at all. I don't recommend this place to anyone!!! Will never be back.

Yelp
Pretty good hot pot place with nice interior and delicious food. Broths were good and meat was good quality. Service was good but could use improvement - there was one item we ordered twice but never showed up. Otherwise no issues. There's a huge wait though if you don't have a reservation on the weekends.

Yelp
We wanted to have hot pot and this place is great. Considering eating at the normal a la cart restaurant, you end up with roughly the same at the end but this is all you can eat. The food quality is good, service is nice. The only advice would be to avoid common meal time. The AC is great when having hot pot. You don't want to be sweating while eating. All the servers are actively making your experience better. Great place to have hot pot.

Yelp
This hot spot is good HOWEVER if you're an American you will need to adjust your expectations from an American hot pot to Chinese! You get your own sauce at the sauce station, adjacent to fruit, napkins, spoons, and other fresh ingredients...everything else is brought to the table! The hot pot bases were good, BUT a few things - The shrimp were not cleaned (whole shrimp head on) which is culturally normal HOWEVER, for the price point, clean those shrimp (shell off and devein it) - The crabs were soooo small they did not make sense to serve; it would take you the next 2 weeks to get decent chunks of meat from it; again this is just because of the price point - The veggies were fresh and the homemade noodles were too & the watermelon juice was AMAZING!

Yelp
My FAVORITE hot pot place in Houston!! The items are always high quality, and the service is super fast. Broth is really flavorful and the menu is really large. The dessert bingfen is really good I strongly recommend!

Yelp
When your flight landed pretty late, and your hungry, and this is what you have been craving for, All You Can Eat hot pot. Would I do it again, probably not. It was a lot of food, so many spices in one broth and we just kept eating, eating, until our stomach can not handle it anymore. It was not packed but food was ok. You could tell some of them were still frozen, and they ran out of most of the vegetables.

Calvin W.

Yelp
I've been here twice now and my best advice is that you should come on off-peak hours. This place is always packed and the wait time can exceed two hours. it's first come first serve with no reservations, despite the challenge of getting a table here, the food really is solid! I think it's one of the best, if not the best hot pot places in Houston with really rich broth that competes with other large chains globally. Jian is really clean for a hot place. You can tell is a chain, but the presentation is clean. Once you're seated, the surface is pretty quick, the broth is phenomenal, and the options of hot pot toppings are quite diverse. They also have a really cute bear that melted into the hot pot if you're into that sort of thing. Would recommend for cold evenings and get together with friends. Stay hungry for this spot!

Yelp
This has become the preferred AYCE hot pot place amongst my friends. Wait times can vary but best to call ahead and add your name to the waiting list, you can also view your spot in line straight from your phone. High quality ingredients with some nice premium items. Servers are attentive and ambiance is modern. The other draw is that they stay open very late, so could be fun as a late night feast.
