Yelp
Not a great first impression. The food was bland, and the service was terrible.
A Jazz Brunch promo popped up on Yelp, and I was immediately eager to go. Brunch and a live band, why not?!
Let's start with the good...
The live band was excellent! The singer had a smooth, sultry, soothing voice. The instrumentals were on point! The live band was the best and the only good part.
On to the bad...
The rude encounter:
We had reservations for 12:45p for a party of 5. However, 2 friends couldn't make it, so we advised them it was only going to be 3 of us. They sat us immediately at an outdoor table. We were able to get a good view of the live band, which was a good start. The waiter came over and took our drink orders, and walked away. A gentleman by the name of Brendan came over to pour us water. My friend decided she wanted the bottomless bellini's. However, she noticed the bellini's were premixed, so she asked Brendan if it was possible to put the juice on the side so she can mix it herself because she doesn't like an overly juiced bellini. Brendan advised that the bellini was pre-made and he could not bring the juice on the side. He advised that she would have to order a glass of Champagne if she wanted it served like that. It was pretty disappointing because her request was not unreasonable. She advised him she was a little disappointed, and he got very snappy stating in a very condescending way "sorry for your frustration", she stated she was not frustrated and he stated "good, I love that for you", "only good vibes over here". He was very rude, to say the least. Furthermore, he had an open cut on his hand that was actively bleeding, and he was serving drinks and water with blood on the back of his hand. DISGUSTING!
The food:
The food was pretty bland. We ordered the spaghetti carbonara, steak and eggs, and the shrimp and polenta, and hot honey wings. The carbonara needed a sharp cheese and a little more flavor. The steak also needed some flavor. The shrimp and polenta were pretty good. The hot honey wings were also pretty good. It had a smokey, sweet, and spicy flavor, served with a tangy gargonzola dip. The guava and passionfruit mojitos were very sour. It needed to be sweeter. It had very little flavor. After the long debate about the bellini the gentleman brought out the pre-made bellini and it was all juice, with a little lipstick on the glass. Ewwww
Ambiance:
Great esthetics. Retro wall art, large bar, indoor and outdoor seating.
Parking:
Street parking and parking garage nearby.
They took forever to come back to close out our check. We literally had to wave the restaurant manager Steve down so we can close out the check and leave. The staff was inattentive.
Overall, I would not recommend. The staff was inattentive, and the food and drinks were bland. The Jazz band is the only great thing they had going. I definitely will not be back.
