Came from Houston, Tx to visit my long distance boyfriend. I stumbled upon this bar after we had Valentine’s Day dinner. Love the vibe and bartenders. I felt so welcome and safe here. If I ever move to Chi this will be my go to place. Long islands were on point. Met a few regulars here and they were so friendly. Miss Chicago already. ❤️

It's my favorite Northside bar. Fun atmosphere, cool artwork, friendly bartenders great drinks. We saw a great Chicago band Dhamba 8 that has members from The Ides of March and Koko Taylor's band. They don't serve food but they do have a popcorn machine which is adorable.

Great decor that adds to the cool vibe atmosphere. Outstanding friendly service and reasonable prices make this a must visit. There's live music and other activities that are presented daily. It's also service dog friendly. There's enough TV screens with the latest sports game on so you won't miss a play.

Hi. So this place. It has a plethora of positives, as it so happens. Tis painted the colors of the old McDonald’s scheme*. (* not to be confused with old McDonald who , you know, had a farm, and on said farm he had some cows, I believe ). It’s a study in yellow and red. We tend to stop by here for free live music and unique vibery. So my heart wants to point out , this place is really a 4.5 star establishment, due to beer complications. Again, I must return to the state of the beer. Somebody has to. I guess it shall be me. It should indeed be mentioned to the proprietors that modern craft beer does not remain servable for an indeterminate period of time. Perhaps I have just mentioned it. Sigh. Ok. Ok. I’ll let that go. Anyway my fiends, there are quite agreeable musical offerings and some kookery. I believe dogs are invited , too. It’s kind of a gem.

This is a great bar. Love that they’re dog friendly, I feel much more comfortable going to a bar by myself when I’m able to bring my dog. All the bartenders have been cool, and the history of the bar itself is pretty cool too.

Mary Mac is the best and even though Anne hasn't proposed to me yet, definitely already planning on having Mary do the music at our wedding. 💖

Came in at 230 am and the bartender was delighted ito see me even with a full bar. That's few and far between nowadays. This place is awesome. Very friendly.

Really enjoyed talking to the bartender there. Happy to find it is a bar owned by a woman. Definitely check it out. I wonder if the bar is inspired by Ralph Steadman’s art? Anyway I hope to swing by for karaoke!

We visited Lizard's Liquid Lounge to see a fun band perform on a Friday night. I loved the ambiance and how eclectic the decor and customers were. It's a small venue with a well stocked bar. Lots of domestic and craft beer choices. As their name implies, they do not serve food. There are restaurants on the surrounding streets, and you are welcome to bring food in. Well worth a visit for tunes, beers, and cocktails.

Great local music, friendly staff, good beers on tap, a full bar to choose from, eclectic ambiance, what's missing? Food! Thus the name liquid. No worries, several local businesses near by to fill the void. You can seek out nourishment and bring with if need be. Parking is "catch me if you can" so allow extra time for that. Cheers!

Fun, low-key bar where there's great live music, fun regulars, great prices, and friendly service from the bartenders. They don't serve food but you can order up or bring your own without issue. Oh, karaoke night is a riot!

This place is a melting pot for everyone. Great drinks and service. Miss the pool table but the darts are still a hitter. Owner is great!

This is the perfect dive bar. We showed up around 7 pm on a Saturday night after some drinks nearby, amused by the name more than anything, and met Nancy. All thoughts of this being some seedy 'lounge' went out the door because she was an absolute DOLL. When her shift ended, Ed took over and he was equally as lovely. They have comfy bar stools, tons of liquor varieties and great specials. You can also get food delivered from the Italian place next door just by scanning a QR code on the tables. Absolutely perfect experience. If I lived nearby I would be a regular.

We have been to Lizard's a few times in the past month. Once for some live music and twice for Trivia night. We have been having a great time and will going back again soon.

Great welcoming atmosphere. We had Jeff bartending while we were there and he is awesome. There was live music when we were there on a Friday night. Definitely implementing safe practices during covid which is really reassuring. We recently moved into the neighborhood and look forward to frequenting this great spot!

Yelp does not categorize this as a dive bar. However, to us, it was borderline. It was great. Friendly patrons. Nancy was a fantastic bartender. Guinness on tap. They mix a good drink. Patrons are friendly. Interesting Decour, with masks and dripping blood on the mirror. What more do you want? Oh yeah, free popcorn and a fine jukebox as well plus you're allowed to bring food into the bar and there is a good pizza parlor down the block.

Nice chill bar in the area. Super easy to find and right on the corner. That is nice. The decor is really just that of a bar. Some pretty fun artwork though. There's a big bar as you walk in with seats. A couple big high tops. There's a free pool table. They have a small stage for live music. Touch Tunes is also available. I came to watch the Oscars. It was a nice chill vibe. They even had a themed cocktails specials ($5) available, which is pretty fun. Oh, there's no food, but you can bring some in (there's a grill right across the street) and they have free popcorn to munch on. TLDR: nice chill neighborhood bar vibe.

Stopped in this bar as we were bar hopping down the street and fell in love with the place . The quirky artsy atmosphere and friendly bar tender made it a place I want to go back to soon. It seems to have different events scheduled for different nights of the week ie trivia tuesdays , except every 4th tuesday is bingo night. Saturday is karaoke. They have happy hour specials and free pool from 4-7.

Like a home away from home. Liz and the bartenders are so accommodating and sweet. They know your name and serve up a great drink. A friendly atmosphere for sure.

My friend's boyfriend used to bartend at Lizard's, so I happened in one afternoon to meet her for a few drinks. Great spot! It's the perfect neighborhood bar with perfect neighborhood people. Everyone is super nice, prices are actually fair (not common in Chicago), and they have a pool table and darts. Win win win win. Chill spot that has a Cheer's vibe. Go a few times and everybody knows your name.

Happened to stop by for a night cap before catching the train back home. I had such a pleasant experience! The vibe is great from the bartender to the ambiance. Can't wait to be in the neighborhood and stop by again. FYI, awesome Manhattans!

A great dive-ish bar with friendly bartenders. Had a BDay party for a good friend last week, and it was a blast, they really accommodated a bunch of wildly partying people. That's it. It's simply worth a visit. Great selection of boozes, clean bathrooms and friendly bartenders.

Friendly atmosphere, cool interior, heavy pours and an awesome owner. While I enjoy hanging where I tend bar, there are times I don't want to drink where I know every person in the room. This is when I sneak off to Lizard's. I almost always find both a seat at the bar and a good conversation. I really do like this place. Lizard's used to be "Lost and Found" which apparently was one of the oldest and most storied lesbian bars in the city. This explains the chilly reception I received when I walked in there 4 or 5 years ago. When Liz bought the place many of the old regulars left. But many others, feeling people of all genders and orientations can enjoy a beverage under the same roof, stayed. The result is an interesting, diverse and eclectic crowd. The owner is a veteran bartender and fantastic behind the rail. She's a real presence... fun, engaging and liberal with the bottle. On Tuesday and Thursday Ruth is calmly happy, smartly funny and filled with positive energy. They have live music frequently and a monthly pub quiz that is both challenging and silly. There are a few nice tv's, a pool table and a shelf full of board games. Good food can even be ordered from Cody's, the burger and hot dog stand next door, and they walk it right over to you. Lizard's is a neighborhood place that's cool enough to travel to even if your friend's band isn't playing there.

I discovered the Triple L just this past Sunday through a friend. Liz is an absolutely wonderful Irish lady focusing on bringing something new to area and building up the community away from the standard bars of Boystown & Andersonville. Previously she used to bartend at The Edgewater & Katerinas. More importantly, Lizard's Liquid Lounge has the great potential to become a space that is welcoming to not just lesbians, but to the queer and straight communities alike, as well as just being an awesome bar. The physical space has all the sensory experiences of an old time Chicago bar, in addition to the renovations and changes by Liz, modernizing its other amenities. My favorite is the bar itself. It's your old school single piece mirror and cabinet bar that stretches the length of the room. The solid wood and size grounds the space against the amount of room to sit, mingle or dance on the other side. There's a pool table in the back corner, a new jukebox (with a great broad selection of music that will appeal to old and new), great clean bathroom and soon to be repainted finish on the inside. Other changes to this bar are the newly installed tap, full bar for liqueur, mixes and beers (I'm personally excited to find Magner's English Cider available), and a charge machine instead of cash only. While you can't get food there yet, you can order/bring in food from a near by Mexican (awesome guac) or Thai place. Coming this June/July, Liz will have established a delivery service from a local business. Don't think though that Liz is forgetting that Lost N Found has been the oldest lesbian bar in Chicago proper. She will be creating a space on one of the walls dedicated to the history and clips regarding LNF. She also will honor LNF's open tab tokens (small wooden token pieces are redeemable for any $4 dollar equivalent drink). Liz has already established drink specials for every night of the week, and I'll personally be there this Wednesday for $5 Martinis! I definitely recommend checking out this space. From the cartoonish sign on the side of the building displaying Liz, the proprietor, drinking a cocktail to the red cloth top of the pool table in the rear of the bar, Lizards is an inviting place to visit or hang around. Special reasons to go to Lizard's have included book swaps, plants swaps, even a clothing swap - so customers stay up on the latest Lizards' events. Every holiday is celebrated in spades and live music can be heard several times a week. There are drink specials every day PLUS the famed Smalls restaurant is next door. They will deliver food to your barstool. What else can you add? :)

Lizard's is a wonderful place that welcomes all. I was introduced to lizards by old friends - Tip and Joey. Have always had a wonderful time there and was there today - sadly for dear Joe's memorial party. Lizards was kind enough to host our party - with the room filled to the capacity and service always with a smile. Thank you so much for welcoming people from across the country and across stereotypical boundaries.

If your looking for a friendly welcoming corner bar, this is it. Bring your dog if your dog is into hanging out and getting treats. Most weekends there is Entertainment such as: Eclectic Live Bands, DJs, Burlesque Shows etc... They even have a Dart & Pool Leagues, Board Ga mes and a monthly Scrabble & Trivia Night. ....Something for everyone.No Kitchen but, if you get hungry, there is a take-out menu folder and a take-out restaurant just around the corner on albany that delivers food to the bar at no charge. Also Daily Drink Specials.

This review is long overdue as I've been a patron of Lizard's for over 10 years! Great drinks, amazing Karoake with Clyde and Katelyn and it's dog friendly!!! This place has a great neighborhood vibe and is my favorite Saturday night hang out.

This place is fantastic! If you don't like this place or have something bad to say... you have no soul. It's chill... it's fun... people are nice. Every night there's something different music, crowed, its just a cool place to go. They have a good selection of drinks there's a bit for everyone. It's dog friendly, on occasion you'll have a cute pup come up to you. The people are great there, everyone is nice. They have great art work all over the place, so much fun to check out. Liz is an excellent bartender, she has great jokes and stories for you, strike up a conversation with her, seriously! Super nice. Check out the bands that play there.. almost every other night there is one. A lot of them play for tips so hook em up! On top of that, in case you're hungry, they don't serve food.... buuuuut..... Smalls Smoke Shack next door will bring it right over to you if you order. Its such a beautiful marriage. You can't lose here! Get over there, have fun, have a few drinks. Such a great local bar, I can't say enough about it. do it!

The Triple L is HeLLLa good! This dog friendly bar has a free pool table, cool juke, you can bring your own food or order in food, game nights, darts, and dog friendly. My tiny Yorkie George doesn't drink. He's not 21, besides, it'll stunt his growth. But he loves socializing the way a flower craves sunshine. I also like the name, it sounds like place in a David Lynch film. Or the main setting of a nouveau noir flick where you'd meet a character with plenty of secrets and money to burn. Anyways. Get the LLL over! George will save you a chair!

This place is great. I don't know if it classifies itself as this, but it looks like a Metal music bar on the inside. Red walls lined with artwork. They play a variety of music on the juke box. Bartenders are incredibly nice and the beer is reasonable. Definitely try it, unobtrusive on the outside and a lot of character inside.

Me and finance love this bar it's right up the street from us great local bar good prices love the art and we get to bring our fur babies there and if you get hungry they have a great selection of order out food that will deliver right to the world famous bar

I don't frequent bars very often, but when I do they usually fall in either the bar with a ridiculously awesome food menu category, or super laid-back bar where you can spend hours just hanging out with friends in your most comfortable clothes category. LLL is the latter. They don't serve food, but make up for it with charm, very affordable beers, and a free pool table. There is fun people watching and fun dog watching too. They had TVs on with some sort of baseball game on that people were really into. Darts that nobody was playing, and most importantly, Gangnam Style on their jukebox. LLL clearly keeps up with the times..unlike some people (insert horses and bayonets joke here). Tip: If you find yourself here, go to the corner by the pool table with the books and find the children's book on Christopher Columbus. You'll find the most hilarious angry writing through half of the book. I'm just sad that the guy didn't keep going throughout all the pages - he stops halfway through. Totally worth checking out if you find yourself at LLL.

Came here this past Sunday to help Kate B. host their very first impromptu reading event, and I must admit I had a fantastic time! Everyone who was in the bar, was very attentive to the readers and musicians. The special was $4 Bloody Mary's that were fantastically made and came with a beer chaser. Kate B. is a fantastic bar keep and the bar itself is dog friendly, meaning you can bring your dog into the establishment with you to warm up. The atmosphere is relaxing and they have great artwork up on the walls. Their bathrooms are clean and they have tons of hooks to hang your things on, which I think is an excellent idea. The next reading event will be Sunday, May 10th from 5pm to 7:30pm. We know that this is Mother's day, but we're still hoping for a good turn out for both readers and supporters alike.

My big 6-0-0 review is dedicated to a friend of sorts... So I'm a little biased, Lizard's is owned by close friend of a friend, so Liz has been an acquaintance for years, even back when she was a bartender over at Edgewater Lounge. Deciding to break out and start off on her own she revamped a bar formerly known as Lost & Found. I don't know what the old place looked like but the new place is a lot like Liz. Liz herself is full of that Irish charm and hospitality. Her awesome personality adds to the overall atmosphere of LLL. It has that laid back, put your feet up kind of place (though I wouldn't put your feet up on the bar, Liz might smack you one good). As for the rest, it's your typical bar stools and a few tables. Though LLL has live music, game nights, reading nights, all kinds of nights, specials on drinks, darts, pool, internet jukebox, and plenty of standing room. Go and see for yourself!! Sorry this took so long to write. Nice job Liz! Cheers!!

If one star wasn't the lowest, I would maybe give this a 1/8th or at best a 1/4 star. This is supposed to be a dyke bar, but instead I found: -a grand total of 8 people at the peak of a Saturday night huddled in one clique-mass - a library shelf - a jukebox last updated in the year 1991 - BORED games The only gay thing about this place was the bartender's haircut. Boo.

Hits the spot! Lovely lass Liz (of Edgewater Lounge fame) has struck out on her own and is presently bringing joy, live music and game nights to what was a bit of a dull strip of Irving Park Road. There are excellent specials, an internet juke, a rather stunning traditional wood & glass bar, and electro-darts, in a room that's comfortably lit and uniquely decorated. It's a good thing I don't live a single block closer to this joint.

This is my favorite place in the Irving Park / South Albany Park area, and probably one of my favorite spots in the city. Liz, the staff, and the regulars have become extended family over the last year. The diverse croud is really appealing because unique conversation can be found here. You may find yourself drinking next to an ex-pat Irishman, a former lost and found regular, a condo owning yuppy, a neighborhood hipster kid, bartenders, a long time friend of Liz's, a cop, or any other kinda person. The beauty of this place is that most of my days and nights get spent with a different croud, and coming to Liz's reminds me that there is a life outside of my own little world and that great people come from all backgrounds and walks of life. The fact that I live 2 blocks from here is a major factor in keeping me from moving.

I agree with the 2013 reviews before mine. Informative website. We placed our order at smalls and headed to Liz's place. I guess the owner was the only person working behind the bar last Friday around 6pm. She appeared busy. She was running two wells and the bar stools were near full with customers. So we weren't greeted when we entered the establishment. Everyone was casually dressed. Eclectic interior but cozy. Very clean. Diverse music but option to choose songs on Internet jukebox. Had I known the pool table was free on weekdays from 4pm-7pm, I would have played a game. A dog friendly bar but no canines were present that day. We seated ourselves at the center of it all. Enjoying every view of artwork displayed. Well layout compared to Burt's Pizza. Since there was no waitress when we were there, it was no problem for us to go up to the bar and order our drinks. Saw some customers at the bar requesting smalls menu. So yes, you can order food in the bar and have smalls deliver it to you. We opted to place our order at the shack first then seat ourselves at Liz's. The delivery guy called out the name of ordering person. Best to hold on to your receipt. Honor system. My first draft, Burning River, was not available so I had a Carlsberg. It was a good pour. Clean glass, good lace, good temperature, clean tap, good taste. I wish we ordered fries as an appetizer while waiting for the fried chicken. I needed something to munch with my beer. Since I'm not a beer connoisseur, I rely on beeradvocate.com for suggestions. There is a good variety of bottled imports and crafts to try but did not know their profiles so I chose to look them up myself. I did not know there is free WI fi. Had good cell signal. I tried the Franziskaner Weiss bier next. It came with the original drinking glass. Glass was pristine. There's an art to pouring. I almost forgot to swirl the bottle to get all the tasty sediments into my glass. It had good citrus notes and carbonation for a wheat beer. But it was my choice and knew it would not pair with the food I ordered. I should have stuck with PBR. Old beer glasses and food containers were removed at reasonable times. Not piling up. Recyclable containers strategically placed for empty beer bottles. A flat screen TV above the bar was turned on to baseball. Someone requested to watch a Sox game but there was no sound. Maybe speaker tables for rent in the future, a suggestion. A very comfortable atmosphere. Good beer prices. The next shift bartender thanked us for coming. Well appreciated. Wish Lizard's Liquid Lounge was in my neighborhood. Street parking. Right next to a business space which use to be Jun's Model Barbershop. The owner? gave us two wooden tokens for free drinks the next time we come back. Will do.

I've lived around the corner from this place for years, but just went for a friends birthday recently. You couldn't ask for a friendlier neighborhood place to hang out. There's newer flashier bars east on Irving Park, but what they're lacking in personality they make up for in guys who wear their fitted baseball caps backwards. It's a cozy space, with what seem like well curated musical acts and a bunch of friendly regulars. As a neighbor, I walk my dog past here all the time and I can say that either their patrons are nicer people or the management does a good job of encouraging good neighbor policies. No drunken louts, no mobs on the corner standing around - just a few friendly folks smoking.

My new favorite place. I played an opening set of music for a friend of mine here, and it was a lovely time. The owner, Liz, appreciates musicians and will give you a free drink for playing...sometimes more than one. Always tip on free drinks, people. Remember that. I can't wait to go back, either to play or just to hang out. A fun, laid back, no pressure bar where you'll be pleased to get your drink on.

I had the pleasure of a camping/ canoe trip with Liz (owner of Lizard's Liquid Lounge) a couple years back, and we had a blast! Once I heard she opened her own place, I could not wait to check it out! Lizard's Liquid Lounge is really cool! The interior, with it's bold reds and yellows, is very warm and inviting. I especially love the African (at least I think they are African) masks hanging on the wall, and the wooden glass cabinets behind the bar! I frequent Lizard's often to play pool, darts, and catch up with Liz. It's a must see!!!

Walked in to hear some old friends playing great music last night. Instant love. Just when I thought the cozy scene of the fun and funky neighborhood bar was on it's way out, I am pleased to see that Liz carries the torch and in a world of contrived hipster anti-fashion and soulless establishments, Liz gets it. This is a little piece of true Chicago tavern paradise. Old friends, inexpensive booze, great music, warm vibe - a great place to meet with pals and catch up. With delivery of munchies from the wee grill around the corner, it does not get better. This is a great good place. If you wanna just relax and feel human, check it out.

Other than the strange voodoo and nicki-manaj-nightmare-like decor... This place isn't a bad dive bar. Dive is the key word. I stopped in here after ordering food from Smalls next door and they let you eat at the bar. Pretty nice. The owners of Smalls and Lizard's have a pact to allow people to eat in the bar since there is adequate seating. And who doesn't want a frosty adult beverage to wash it all down? The major loss of star were the surplus of dogs in the place. I don't mind a couple in a place, but they were almost outnumbering the people inside. Not the most appetizing to have strangers' dogs walking around while you eat/drink. But if I lived around the area, I could see myself coming through every now and then. (P.S. Stella's were $4 that night, and who can pass up a sale??)

I am a young-looking woman, so I'm used to being carded constantly. Usually, I go in and the bouncer cards me or, if I order at the bar first, the bartender will ask me for my ID after I order and they're making my drink. But when I walked in here, I started ordering a drink and the owner cut me off, held her hand out, and said "Let me see your ID". It was so rude. I was completely turned off from this place.

Great neighborhood joint and anytime I can see GREAT bands with NO COVER I'm a happy camper! I love the different events each night of the week and Liz has a bin of menus from the local joints in the area who will happily deliver here. Thanks for opening this great hang out in my neighborhood!

I love Lizard's. Liz is a fantastic bartendress, and the beer selection she slings is great for the prices she charges. I love having Alpha Kind on tap - yum! Often there are live bands; I've never seen one there I didn't like My hockey team and I wind up here most Monday nights and always have a blast.

Easily my favorite bar within a couple mile radius of my house although to be honest, that's faint praise. But if you want a really laid back bar to throw a few back and hang out with a friend or four, this is a really cool and unpretentious place. Very diverse and friendly clientele. Liz and the folks that occasionally work for her are examples of what makes a great bartender. You are acknowledged as soon as you walk in, your drink orders are timely and accurate and she is perfectly attentive without being intrusive. I don't think I've ever had an empty glass before another drink is sitting in front of me! And if you want someone to chat with, she's friendly and interesting as well. Pool table, dart board, jukebox and a great selection of card and board games if it strikes your fancy. And at the risk of being generous I'm compelled to throw in an extra star because she has Dead Guy Ale on tap. It's great for all those nights when I need a tasty little reminder of beautiful Oregon. mmmmmm.....Rouge Brewing Company......drool

ummm yeah. Not my most favorite place that I've been.... Came here last Monday night for a drink with some dear friends. We were excited about the prospect of live music and cheap beer...and I must, say, I was slightly disappointed. The crowd here seems cliquey, and to be fair, we were clearly outsiders (venturing in from Lincoln Square), but it just felt....awkward. The live music was AWFUL. And yes, we are all singers so maybe we're music snobs, but wow. Not the best band we've ever heard... Props for the board games though...I haven't played connect 4 in ages! I don't think we'll be back...but I can see how it's a neighborhood haunt.

Went on Friday night cuz a friend was guest bartending. Really, really liked the space.....ecclectic decor, lots to look at: great art, intersting lighting, felt spacious (it's a fairly large bar--maybe two storefronts wide and longer than most, with fairly high ceilings) yet because of the paint and lighting, still felt warm and intimate. The bar was populated well enough, yet not crowded; they have a pool table, and two local bands (the first rock, second were jazz-y), at least that night. Kinda felt like a Wicker Park bar (sans obnoxious poseury kids) in Albany Park: had kind of a hipster look/vibe, but the crowd was more local, diverse and down-to-earth (meaning: don't be afraid to come in if you're older and don't wear skinny jeans). Prices were 'normal' (not cheap but not pricey, for the north side). Liz is very sweet, too. I'll be back.

Neighborhood bar for the new epoch. Blessedly free of hipsters for the most part. Relaxed and friendly and with a smidge of gonzo. Musical surprises and reasonable prices. Always solid draft choices. If there was a screen with sports I didn't notice and they turn it off on acoustic open mic Thursday ( I think they don't have one). Good place to be well behaved and have a good time.

Liz is a fantastic host, and the bar is a classic, but something about it left me short of wowed. Was it too well-lit? Was the room too big for the size of the crowd? I don't know. I wish I could give more starts, because Liz really is the best. I may have just been having an off night. I'll try again.

I didn't know one of my favorite city bartenders worked here!!! To my delight he does! I have always enjoyed myself here and the drinks are reasonable and the inside is super cool and unique.

I've been living in this neighborhood for about six months. Finally made it over there a couple of months ago and have now been there half a dozen times. The open mic night is a blast. I had such a great time that I closed the place on one of them. On a Friday that I stopped in last month, they had a band performing the entire Rolling Stones album Let it Bleed. It's their "album of the month" that they do each month. This month it was the Beatles Let it Be. Cool! Bartenders are very nice. Beer selection is quite good. Love the Burning River. Atmosphere is laid back. Where else can I have a beer, live music, see an open mic, a burlesque show, play scrabble against a friend, or just hang? I'm pretty happy this is stumbling distance from my place. 11/20/11 UPDATE: They now have an arrangement with a place nearby to provide food. Yes!! Will have to sample some and let you know how it is.
