I've been passing by this small Argentine eatery for a long time and have been wanting to give them a try; also one of my close friends told me about this place and has been coming for a while and said I really needed to try them out; well I finally did, and sadly I was extremely disappointed.
When driving up, it appears as if there's no parking for the building they occupy however the lot right next door to the north is shared with their neighbors and you're good to park there.
Upon entering on a Friday night, there was only one couple inside along with the owner as well, both eating.
Our waitress came and asked us what we wanted to order; we ordered 2 entrees, a couple soft drinks and then afterwards, 1 dessert.
4/5 Skirt Steak $24.00 came with greens and mashed potato. It was ordered in MR and came out just right. It was fairly tender.
2/5 Short Ribs $25.00 came with broccoli and mashed sweet potato and was actually quite good, not too much fat. I didn't care for the mashed sweet potato and wanted to know if I could change them for regular mashed, but when I asked the owner, he responded with a resounding "NO, what am I supposed to do with your mashed sweet potatoes?" He said he could change them but then he would need to charge me since my portion would be discarded. I'm thinking, wow...ok then.
1/5 Coke and Diet Coke $3.00. How do you give a 1 star for a soft drink? How about if they charge you $3.00 for a 12oz Coke (from Mexico) and the same $3.00 for a diet coke that comes in an 8oz. bottle. That's right...they charge the same exact price for different sizes of soft drinks...wish I took a picture of that...I've never seen anything like this...it was the strangest thing.
1/5 Panqueque Dulce De Leche $13.00. So their dessert menu says if you order the pancake, it's $9.00. Add Ice Cream it's $3.00 more. So why do they charge $13.00 when I ordered both? Looks like they're making an extra dollar for unsuspecting customers. There's no reason to rip off the customer who's not paying attention; you can't call it an honest mistake...it's already programmed onto their POS. Do you not think your customer won't add up prices in their head later on? This isn't Ocean Drive.
Our server was really sweet, but she just took our order and offered no information on the daily specials; how do I know that? Another table came in and the owner himself took their order and offered a whole list of what was available that day that was off menu. I would have liked to know what else they had but as sweet as she was, she was just an order taker.
It was my first time eating here and after spending nearly $90.00 for 2 meat entrees, 1 dessert and 2 sodas with tip...I have to say I see no reason to return. I get it..they're a small place and I'm all for supporting small businesses (food was actually ok) but after all the unexplainable issues from the soft drink sizes, the over charge of the dessert and the owner worried about $0.15 of mashed potatoes, I'd rather spend my money elsewhere and not feel like the establishment is looking to take advantage of me.
