NYC’s New Restaurant Openings - New York - The Infatuation

"Lobel’s, a butcher and Yankee Stadium staple since 2009, has opened a Rock Center outpost. They’re serving breakfast sandwiches until 10:30am, and then three lunch sandwiches (prime steak, roasted pork, turkey breast, and broccoli rabe), all of which come with a side of jus. They also have a brown butter chocolate chip cookie, in case you require dessert at the end of every meal." - will hartman, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, sonal shah, bryan kim

Google
I saw their store in Rockefeller when I’m about to pick up my lunch order from sweet green and I got to try the steak sandwich which I regret after. It doesn't seem fresh because the meat was too dry and its very expensive for the price where you can get better sandwiches anywhere else and It won’t cost that much.

Absolutely delicious steak sandwhich! The vegetarian option was also delicious! Diana, our server, couldn't have been sweeter. I live a few blocks away, and am so happy Lobels has finally open near me! Highly recommend!

Google
This is a fantastic addition to Rockefeller center. The steak sandwich with the works is top notch. The breakfast options are solid too and the banana pudding is a must try. Friendly staff, quick service, and a great spot to grab a bite before, during or after work. Highly recommend!

Google
My daughter and I was welcome and by such a sweet young lady at the door we have so many questions and she put a time to explain the entire menu and what our options was. We both decided to go with the pork sandwich. We absolutely enjoyed the pork. It was super flavorful. Our favorite part was the jus. We look forward to coming back to dine here, especially once a tree gets lit!

I must say I was very disappointed. We spent $100 for two people—for just a sandwich and a drink. Everything was served in plastic, including the wine, which felt quite cheap considering the price. The food lacked any vegetables, and the bread seemed a bit stale. Perhaps it simply wasn’t what we expected, but after just one bite, we left the rest. It ended up being the most expensive meal we had in days—and also the only one we couldn’t finish. To top it off, there was an 18% additional fee that we didn’t encounter anywhere else. We definitely won’t be returning.

Google
The steak sandwich was good, but the $25 price tag is hard to justify. Comparable options in the area run $15–$18, and the quality is just as good. As someone who works nearby, I don’t see the value in splurging for this $25 sandwich.

Atmosphere is great. Staff is awesome. Food is…pretty bad? Got a minestrone and it was 95% salty broth. Nothing else to it. Had a pork and broccoli sandwich and it was underwhelming. Friends report the same thing. Disappointing. Had high hopes!

Yelp
Located at Under 30 Rock, Lobel's Original is a family-owned butcher shop that offers sandwiches, slow-roasted meats, and craft cocktails! We ordered: +the USDA Prime Steak The Works sandwich - with broccoli rabe that's been sauteed in garlic and chili, long hot peppers, and picante provolone in a sesame bastone, served with a side of au jus +the Roasted Turkey sandwich - with picante provolone in a sesame bastone, served with a side of au jus +a Chopped Vegetable Salad - with tomatoes, chopped eggs, avocado, bleu cheese, croutons, and a sherry vinaigrette +a cup of Minestrone soup - with veggies and pasta i na tomato broth +and, Pasta Salad - prepared with pesto, oven-dried tomatoes, and pine nuts Don't sleep on their desserts, such as the Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies and the Banana Pudding - we opted for both! They also have a Double Chocolate Cake that is with chocolate mousse and crispy pearls. Service was friendly and staff were helpful! Good amount of seating inside, in a clean white decor. Online ordering is also available, for a seamless quick pick-up option. +sandwiches served with a side of au jus +friendly service and staff +online ordering available

Yelp
Arrived at Lobel's about 12:30 on a Thursday afternoon. Was seated quickly as only about 6 or so other customers were there. Place is clean and has seating for about 25 or more people. Ordered the prime steak sandwich with au jus. Staff is friendly and courteous. Waited close to 30 minutes for the food to come. Sandwich and the au jus was only room temperature, not even warm. Wasn't really that much meat in the sandwich for a $24. Unfortunately the sandwich was just okay, not much flavor or taste and nothing very memorable about it. Although I was a bit hesitant to come here after reading the reviews which were few and 3 stars or less, I usually try to give places a chance. But I have to say the other reviews were pretty on point. Food needs to be served warm with more seasoning. Unless the food improves, doubtful I'll return.

Yelp
I saw a post about this place opening and since I never go to ballgames I thought this would be a nice way to try out what everyone says is a great steak sandwich. Maybe I went to the wrong place at 30 Rockefeller - because I didn't see any seating. Now that I look at the pictures online I went to the take out window. Oops. First of all the sandwiches were all lined up and you grab whatever you want and then put it on this little table and it scans it. Then you go and pay for it using the CC terminal there. They have staff there but when I went to ask them if I order through them they said I just grab a sandwich from the selection to the right of them. I got the Steak sandwich. First thing is in the article and if you buy it online it says it comes with some Au Jus. Well mine didn't and I didn't see any there at the counter. So I just paid and went to find seating upstairs. The sandwich uses quality meat that is for sure. Good flavor and not very fatty or stringy which is my preference. The Provolone Piccante cheese has a strong flavor which works here and gives the steak a nice umami profile. The bread is nice and soft. Is it worth the $25 price tag? I don't think so. For $18 you can get a Cheesesteak from Danny and Coop's and it is a much better sandwich and substantially bigger. For $3.95 more you can get a pastrami from Katz Deli and that one is even larger and legendary. I guess Lobel's does have to pay for the rent at 30 Rockefeller which isn't cheap but still. For $24 I expected more.

Yelp
I almost never leave reviews, but I had to make an exception for this turkey sandwich--it was genuinely the worst I've ever had. The provolone completely overpowers everything else, and the turkey itself has a dry, sand-like texture. Given the quality, the price is outrageous.

Rozanne T.

Yelp
The price did not match the taste and experience. A cup of plain water was $5 and the server upsold the chips without us knowing. The soup was good, but also not worth the price.

Phoebe S.

Yelp
this overpriced sandwich was 99% turkey and didn't ever specify on having artichoke and broccoli in it just claiming it's a "original turkey". service was horrendous... first of all you have to weight your food which didn't work and the sandwiches on the shelf were minimal options and zero customization. all together a fruit bowl and a sandwich was a whopping 28 buck. (not even a single star deserved.)
