"“America’s Favorite Stuffed Clams” by Matlaws (nine clams, 20 ounces, $7.99): This package was an oddity in the supermarket freezer case, a seafood product that actually looked like the creature it came from. Yet, for anyone who has eaten stuffed clams in an Italian restaurant, these behemoths were way too big, chowder clams to be sure rather than littlenecks or cherrystones. Still, they came from Gloucester, Massachusetts, and, once heated for 30 minutes at high temperature, tasted pretty good, though the proportion of breading to clam was fairly high. Grade: B — Sietsema" - Ryan Sutton

The ambiance was wonderful, staff was friendly and accommodating. The other food portions were massive aside from the lobster roll, it was very disappointing for $35, it was the exact replica of the $14 lobster roll I get from one of the pubs in Beverly, nothing special just overpriced for what it is. Do yourself a favor and get the fish and chips instead, if you happen to stop by this place.

I was here in September during a gorgeous fall day. Wonderful dinner at the bar in patio out back. Super crowded with great service. Live music was a nice touch to the view and delicious food.

What a delicious place to eat for dinner! My husband and I were very pleased with our food. We ordered the Lobster chowder to share, Cajun swordfish with risotto, and peppercorn steak with mash. Though the food was pricey (it’s a tourist area) and the service started off a little slow it was still a very pleasant dining experience and the food was very fresh!!!

Google
Excellent food. Pasta salad and lobster rolls were delicious. So was the chowder. Friendly waitress.

We stopped by on a typical, busy Saturday night without a reservation. The host was incredible and was able to get us seated in the main dining room. It was about an hour wait, but that was more than reasonable considering the amount of people waiting to dine. The food… well, there’s a reason I can’t share any photos of it. It’s because it was gobbled down as fast as it was delivered to our table! Our server was outstanding, and the kitchen did a great job - the staff was on their game. Try the Lazy Man’s Lobster. It was delectable! I highly recommend a reservation, but it’s worth the wait even if you can’t snag one.

Always a pleasure to come here for two Brits on vacation. The Coconut Shrimp were to die for as was the Fish and Chips. No matter what you get here it's going to be great. It gets busy because the locals know how good this is. Thank you guys for another great meal. See you next year.

Great seafood in Gloucester! Excellent fish and chips and seafood paella

Food was good, portions were healthy. Asked the server for the seafood fried dinner for Dad, but to hold the shrimp. No problem. Dinner came with a ton of seafood and 5 shrimp. Dad ate one before I could stop him. Luckily his alergic reaction was mild.

Yelp
This is THE spot! The place can accommodate all party sizes. We went there with some friends and were surrounded by people on dates, families enjoying lunch together and also big group of friends. The energy is fun and relaxing. The staff is friendly and on top of it. They were busy and quick at rotating tables, in the most efficient way without ever rushing anyone. We loved everything we shared, the combo platter, the mussels, the ceasar salad and the seafood bouillabaisse! The seafood bouillabaisse was absolutely DELICIOUS! - even in hot summer weather. I cannot wait to have it again! Their fries were delicious and so were their coconut shrimps! The view, the vibe, the food. It hits all the spots. The portions are generous and the price is reasonable. Recommend it to everyone!

Yelp
The food was amazing.. I had tried in 2023 after seeing a picture of the seafood risotto online. Sadly the wait was long and I did not make a reservation.. so summer 2024 I made the reservation.. mmm well worthwhile.. for sure when ever I travel to town in the future I will make a reservation

Caroline C.

Yelp
The seafood is excellent! While I can't recall the size I ordered, the lobster was delicious and fresh! Additionally, the ambiance was lively--I can tell that this is a spot that many locals like to come to. Another family member of mine ordered the fish and chips, and they were very generous with the proportions. All to say, this is a great seafood spot!

Yelp
The service was fine; always greeted nicely and server was good. The food was average at best. I have been eating the fish sandwich here for years and it has never disappointed. This sandwich feels like it was defrosted and cooked and it was from a third party vendor. It was too uniform. Very let down. Two lunches with no apps nor liquor 60.00 without gratuity. I don't mind paying for a good lunch and paying a good price, but it should be good. The ambiance is great outside. Inside it is alright. If it is hot I highly recommend eating inside as the ac is excellent.

Yelp
Great seafood spot w huge portions! We always saw this place driving by and decide to give this place a try since the parking lot is always full of cars! Ordered fried clams which was market price -$37 and the portions were HUGE! It was the largest batch of fried clams ive ever seen for the price. Husband ordered their dinner special which was fried bass w chili sauce and that was amazing as well! The chili sauce had a nice heat and the fish was fried perfectly with white buttery flesh! Worth a visit if you're in the area

Yelp
Extensive menu with awesome views of the water marsh when you choose to sit outside. I appreciate the glass windows outside, which helps breaks up the wind, so you can actually enjoy your meal without worry about things flying around. I had a hard time choosing what to get, but the lobster BLTA was delicious. Plenty to lobster and the bun was perfectly grilled. The side pickle was literally the crunchiest pickle I've ever been served. The side of fries filled the void, but I saw someone at the table next to us get the pasta salad, and that's what I would try next time. Looking forward to coming back when visiting family and trying the other seafood dishes on the menu.

Yelp
Went here on recommendation of friends and our fishing captain. 30 minute wait on a Wednesday night at 7 in September. Not terrible. Very busy ambience which is nice compared to a lot of low energy places. Service was good but not fantastic. Food was mixed. Tuna tower was outstanding. Wedge salad was huge, but came with sad flavorless whole cherry tomatoes like you get at grocery in winter. Blue cheese dressing was not enough for the size of the wedge. Server saw this when delivering and did rectify. However the flavor of the dressing just made me want to go home and make my own. Fried haddock was not near as fresh as what we had the next day at the lobster pool. Paella was very good though. .

Yelp
Inconsistent drinks. Can't get same twice. Good, expensive food. Large portions. Awful dessert. Great service. Overrated

Yelp
1 star and I'm generous. OMG. This place was recommended by a friend. We flew in today from Utah and were looking forward to a New England dinner experience ( chowder, lobster ) We ordered 2 1 1/2 pound.lobsters. One was too cooked , the other one was a soft shell not even a pound. After asking why should we be charged for a full price 1 1/2 pound lobster , the manager said the risk was on us until we showed her picture of the the small piece of meat coming out of our lobster tail. It looked like a shrimp. The young server was super sweet , summer student but clearly nobody had trained her. Ordered 2 cups of chowder that never showed up. Sorry she said. If you're going to charge these prices , please train your staff. Anyhow , this should not be on your itinerary for a New England dinner. What a rip off. Anyhow, what a disappointment

Robyn W.

Yelp
Such a great meal!!! The seafood risotto was incredible. Huge chunks of lobster all throughout. My fiancée got the pound and a quarter lobster....delicious. If you sit in the bar area ask for Megan. She was great. Super helpful for 2 out of towners!!!

Lisa M.

Yelp
Best fish and chips on the north shore! Caesar salad and tuna sashimi tower were fabulous! We'll be back!

Samantha B.

Yelp
I am still dreaming about my lobster dinner. I will be back in the future Because this place is perfect! For starters we had calamari which was amazing. For dinner I had the 1 lb lobster with mashed potatoes and veggies. The portions are so large but everything was fresh and flavorful. There was a decent wait but we grabbed a drink at the bar and waited on the patio for about 45 mins but 100% worth the wait. #ThankYouThursday

Guli K.

Yelp
Make reservations if you can. We stopped by Sunday night at 5:30 and was told it would be a 45 min wait. Clearly a popular spot with the locals. Casual ambience with indoor, outdoor and bar seating. Ordered the crab cake and scallop satay for apps and the bouillabaisse for dinner. Everything was really delicious. Service was friendly but inconsistent and I think it was cause of how busy they were. Water was never brought, drinks never checked on. Luckily the food was good which made up for the service.

Matt C.

Yelp
Excellent food, great views, and friendly staff. It can get noisy inside during the summer when it's consistently packed. Make reservations pretty much any time, especially during the height of the tourist season. They've extended their season deep into the fall this year, I really hope they keep that up in years to come. My favorite choices are the mussels, the fish stew, and any and all fish specials. Really though, you can't go wrong with anything they serve. Good beer list as well.

Paul W.

Yelp
This Hass to be the best seafood place in Gloucester. The variety of fresh fish is just amazing. The staff is wonderful. And I guarantee you'll have food for tomorrow's lunch. A truly great restaurant.

Pat S.

Yelp
Love their lobster rolls!! We drive down from Salem, NH. Grew up in Manchester, MA so know the area well. Father was from Gloucester.

Berj M.

Yelp
Other than the fried fish, which was very good, the scallops, shrimp, and especially the clams, were over cooked and tasteless. The clams were especially disappointing. Overcooked, crisped and almost burned. The Cole slaw had no flavor. Fries and calamari were plain. Very disappointing for such a big name restaurant right on the water. We went on a saturday. It was packed. No excuse for such poor clams. Will not return. The seafood platter was $50. Feeds 2.

John B.

Yelp
Great food, service and ambiance. It's my cheers! Had lazy man's lobster for my birthday last week. delicious!!! John Butler

Yelp
After a long day at the beach, eating fresh food is the best way to end the day. Overall I had a good experience. It's not too busy on a weekday night, my waitress was friendly and helpful. They have a regular menu, a daily special menu and plenty of drinks from bar menu to choose from. Price is decent for the generous portion size.

Joan K.

Yelp
Attentive server/ good food & clean and friendly atmosphere. The bar is a lively and busy spot

Elina S.

Yelp
Food was very good. Highly recommend the Sicilian Style Mussels & the Lazy Man's Lobster. They were very busy on a Saturday so recommend making reservations ahead of time to avoid a long wait. Service (while super busy) was very kind and attentive to every need.

Iris A.

Yelp
Lack of communication. I checked in as a walking, I was told the wait time was 1 hour 30 minutos for outside sitting and I agreed. When the 1 hour 30 minutes were done I checked with the one more time. This time I was told that they actually meant 2 hours I was calm and agreed one more time. After 2 hours waiting I went to check and this time they told they have no idea how longer it will take. I asked am I at least I the next party? And they keep saying they have no idea. How come they keep us waiting for two hours and after that they don't have an idea if you are the next one on being sitting? We ended up leaving.

Cayla K.

Yelp
My sister ordered their paella and she was in love with it. Since we've returned from our trip she still talks about it. The wedge salad satisfied my want for something fresh- easily could have shared it. The lobsta roll was also pretty tasty. Simple. Couldn't complain.

Mrs.Jeffrey L.

Yelp
Great location. Easy to get in and out of. If you get a window or patio seat it's a gorgeous view otherwise dark casual lively atmosphere. We were seated immediately at noon on a November Sunday so that was great. Food looked great but lacked as much flavor as it appeared to have. Cocktail menu l and beer selection looked very good.. 4 of us. 2 of us ordered tacos,1 fish sandwich and 1 sample plate. Generous portions. Food was not bad fresh cute presentations. But not great either. Bloody Mary was ok,something missing , more lemon? More horseradish idk but i have had much better.white sangria was overly juicy... By a lot. Sangria is wine with muddled fruit and some liquor this tasted like a ton of OJ and pineapple juice with a splash of wine annd liquor. Beer options were great. Service was ok, she definitely wanted us to clear out so she could seat another party and make more $$ faster. Felt a bit rushed for the $$ entrees are minimum $24 /pp and the drinks are $15 each so give us a minute

Carolyn S.

Yelp
Marshside deck bar excellent. Dog friendly. I like the mussels. Nice entertainment on the deck. Their salads are quite generous. Friendly ambiance at the bar (if you can find an open seat. It's popular)

J S.

Yelp
Flies! Six of us stopped here for lunch. We had lobster, calamari, haddock soup, Crab cakes, shrimp, and other items. The food was good, but the flies overtook us and our meals. Also, the drinks were not inexpensive. Two drinks and another with an extra shot cost $44. We think in the future we will pass.

Denis D.

Yelp
Nice little place. Easy access right off the highway. Small parking lot that fills up. This place is really popular. Food was really good. A little too expensive for my taste, but glad we went at least once.

Ken B.

Yelp
We had reservations for two people at 5 PM on Friday evening. We got to the front and the table was ready for us. Please note that some areas of the restaurant have extremely loud music from the deck above. We were kind of in the far corner, so it did not affect our experience. We both decided on having a lobster roll, and we both chose to add a cup of their haddock chowder, plus a side of fries The lobster roll was served in a typical, no England, grilled buttered Frankfurt roll, which was perfectly grilled and filled with delicious chunks of lobster meat. It was not the biggest most overstaffed rule with ever had but I will say that it more than me satisfied - when combined with the five star fries, and the star of the show, which was the chowder AAA+++. Service was very good considering the waitress had the whole section that we were in and she delivered delivered everything we are sure as promised

Joshua A.

Yelp
Nice view but the food was so bland it was almost inedible. Both the lobster dishes were extremely overcooked and also flavorless. I've eaten better microwave tv dinners. The cob salad was wilted and browning on the ends. The blackened haddock tacos were ok. Go for the beer and the view off the deck but avoid the food at all cost. Service was also slow.

Bob C.

Yelp
We live about a mile away so they're a top choice for special occasions. Reservations are a must in tourist season and on weekends. Service is great as is the food. The new deck allows outdoor dining with a great view of the marsh. Dining indoors, however, can be a bit crowded and noisy. Alas, many of the great murals by local artist Jeff Weaver have been lost to renovations. To me, this was like burning books illustrated by NC Wyeth. Over the years my wife and I have enjoyed many dishes there. She's a great fan of the Caesar Salad and their homemade dressing. I liked their original tuna stack (grrr they changed the recipe!) and have switched to other dishes (salmon, swordfish, fish and chips) in its absence. They have a rotating beer list, which is a mix of local and national microbrews, and a full bar.

Margaret G.

Yelp
Amazing! That is all...staff, food, live music, two full bars...love it! OMG, 17 more characters to post...I LOVE it! GO here!!

Susan S.

Yelp
Fantastic food. Their risotto dishes are so good. Fun place to go to sit outside in the summer

Genevieve R.

Yelp
I dream about their lobster roll! Large amount of lobster, so tasty, my all-time favorite - and I've tried many. Casual eatery, view of the marsh from the tables in back, great place for a group. Everything is so fresh and tasty, have tried so many dishes over the years - the spicy little necks in a Thai Chile lobster broth are to die for - we share this as an appetizer for 2-3 peeps, and ask for extra bread to sop up the delicious broth it comes in. We've taken various groups of friends and family here, and everyone always leaves happy. Service is always friendly and attentive, just an overall great place for fresh seafood during spring/summer in Gloucester (coz they close during the winter).

Michael P.

Yelp
Took a detour thru Gloucester and saw this place. Decided to take a chance and we were extremely pleased! We started with a tuna tower appetizer, and our entrees included a lobster roll, whole Maine lobster, and fried clams and scallops. I thought the food and service were both excellent! Highly recommended!

Sandy G.

Yelp
amazing food, lovely place, very clean. staff was ok, prices? wow! one and done for me

Linda A.

Yelp
This place never disappoints. Chock full of locals. I can't imagine this place in season. Make reservations, no kidding. Service was prompt and friendly. I ordered the lobster chowder, $32. Very awesome. Lots of huge chunks of lobster meat, one small claw meat. Some pieces were less than choice, but still very flavorful. If you can find better, let me know. I powered some bread and butter that was served with a pickled herb & caper spread. The alcohol free IPA was fantastic. It was a micro brew offering. Lemony, fresh and complimented my meal perfectly. Creme Brûlée for dessert was I no brainer. perfect with a whisper of caramelized sugar on top. I cannot wait for my next trip to Gloucester. Lobsta Land is must.

Rachel S.

Yelp
This is hands-down, the best place on the North Shore to buy fried clams. Insanely light delicious, fresh and tender. We had to go back twice in one week for them. Their steamers are also amazing. Their portions are huge. The service was outstanding as well.

Glenn K.

Yelp
Went to Lobsta Land Restaurant a week and a half ago and ordered this, the "fresh catch of the day" for $35! It was a slice of tuna less than 1/2 inch thick. I felt totally ripped off (and hungry). We've been several times in the past and always found it to be expensive but this was the last straw. No, I didn't say anything, just left hangry with the intention of never returning.

Alex S.

Yelp
food was good, had the lobster blta which was a nice change of pace from the traditional lobster roll that i've had several times while in new england. sat by the window with a nice view staff was good. overall i'd come back

meaghan r.

Yelp
This place is FANTASTIC! We were in town from California this past week and were recommended this by a local. We asked to make a reservation as our group was 11 people and they were able to squeeze us in on the patio (which was great!). We ended up coming in a couple days later for a quick drink with just a couple of us and loved it just as much. Service was great (from the host to the server to the bartenders!), Staff was SO Friendly and accommodating. They had live music at one point on Saturday, great ambiance and delicious food. Great for seafood lovers and non-seafood lovers! if we ever end up back in the area, we will definitely visit here again. :)

John M.

Yelp
PRICEY, but worth it. Got hit with the bill after taking my gf and her parents out. My wallet screamed audibly and it felt slightly like getting my wind knocked out of me when I saw the bill. Drinks were incredible, service was good, food came out in a timely manner. Best meal I had last summer, no contest.

Seth G.

Yelp
Great food and ambiance. We loved the clam chowder, fries and stuffed clams. We look forward to go back for more!

C M.

Yelp
Tried this while vacationing in the area. Had the seafood risotto and was very impressed with the amount of seafood in the dish and whole lobster claws. They did not skimp! Food was delicious and we enjoyed the overall experience. Waitress was wonderful, very attentive and checked in often to make sure our meal was going well.

Kenneth N.

Yelp
Best seafood chowdah I've ever had, and the view is awesome! Not to mention the polite and cheerful staff... go here for a meal and you'll come away happy .

Kimberly K.

Yelp
Your typical outdated seafood shack restaurant with snarky, yet endearing servers and good eats. We scored a table by the window on a gorgeous day. The view of a salt marsh isn't quite like to ocean, but it's still lovely. We ordered overpriced lobsters (everyone is overcharging now due to demand) but we ended up getting way bigger ones, so we were ecstatic. Asparagus was over cooked. Fried clams were perfect

Sara C.

Yelp
Wonderful ambiance out on the patio. Had lunch on a Sunday. View is terrific, live jazz music set the scene. Our servers were great. Sadly, food is just mediocre. To be fair, I hear the lobster was tasty. But everything else (chowder, salmon, fish n chips, fried calamari, Portuguese haddock, truffle fries) was truly mediocre. Surprised given ratings and the local competition. Hard to recommend based on the food quality.

M M.

Yelp
Food was really good. The service was ok...not the friendliest server and it was freezing in the restaurant. I guess they were prepping for winter off and good for them. I look forward to next season!! Enjoy your time off.

Cindi W.

Yelp
Have come here lots over the years. The food quality is always good. Servers are always very nice. We always make reservations, but lately have had to wait for tables to leave. Great place for lobster tho without having to go to Maine! Someone should tell them though - serving those rolls without browning them is kinda gross. (Yes we told the waitress who told us they no longer heated them). She did nicely go heat them for us to make them edible. I think they'd be better off not serving them at all?

Matt L.

Yelp
Got kids in the car? You're going here. Want seafood but don't really know what want? You're going here. Simply don't want to think too much? You're going here. Always good. Solid in every category. Great deck. Solid bar. Live music from time to time. Only reason it's not five stars is parking lot. Once you try to back out on a Sunday you'll understand.

David H.

Yelp
Amazing food here. They have fantastic 2-lbs lobster and paella, and their Portuguese style haddock was great too. I highly recommend all three dishes and I guarantee it is worth their price. One caveat is that you should carefully choose when and where to eat. I recommend sitting OUSTIDE because inside doesn't have much noise blockers and it can be extremely loud. I came here with my parents around 7 and our ears started to hurt so much that they wanted to leave as soon as possible. Across our table, we had a party of 8 who were having a really good time with drinks and laughter. I cannot blame them for enjoying their time but I wished I was deaf. Outside had wonderful atmosphere and nice heater to keep people warm.
