"L’Oca D’Oro might look like an impossibly cute neighborhood cafe in a pedestrian-friendly section of Mueller, but it’s also a great place to dig into one of the best birthday foods of them all: pasta. Not because it’s particularly great at holding candles (we’d actually advise against this), but because each bite of house-made noodles makes the day feel just a little bit more special. Where you sit makes a big difference since the tasting menu isn't offered by the bar or on the patio. The spread starts with bread served with fresh mozzarella, plus a few dips and cured meats. After that, there’s a pasta course, a meat course, and dessert—each with two options, making this ideal for couples who want to share more plates. It has its high points, but there are also a few dishes that feel like they’ve been prepared in advance to be served over and over through the night.
