"If you work late or don’t enjoy drinking before Jeopardy airs at 7pm because you play to win, it can be hard to find a Happy Hour you can actually attend. But Local 138 does a Happy Hour until 9pm daily, and they also let you bring your own food. So if you want to plan an affordable dinner date with yourself, pick up some dinner from Tiny’s Giant Sandwich Shop or Patacon Pisao, and eat it in this dark, divey LES bar while you drink a $4 beer and check the r/mildlyinteresting subreddit on your phone." - Bryan Kim, Matt Tervooren

"This is a standard neighborhood pub, complete with lots of wood paneling and sports on TV. Get there for their daily Happy Hour where draft beer, wine, and well drinks are $4." - Katherine Lewin

Bartenders were incredible and super friendly and accommodating. However, for a Friday night the music was only like 80s and felt like I was in a perpetual video game. It gave me a headache so I left. Hope they fix that according to the crowd. Also, it was really cold to me but I get they need to moderate the temp for when it's packed. I'll drf be back, but maybe during happy hour instead.

Went out late Saturday night and ended up here, the tall male bouncer claimed a real id from DC was fake and was extremely rude on august 11th around 1 am, was probably looking for some extra cash as a bribe. We ended up finding a new spot instead

This is going to be my go-to bar whenever I am in NYC! Cozy, quiet and very nice happy hour deal! The bartender is a delightful lady and makes sure you are never without a drink! I would highly recommend this place for a relaxed evening after work!

AMAZING BARTENDERS!!! The drinks are always on point, the music is good and it's always a vibe when I go. I always go there intending to stay for a couple of hours but, I always end staying til close. Local 138 is a whole vibe even on a MONDAY!!!

Nice vibe - drinks seemed to be a bit pricier than I had expected. Can’t penalize them for that though - service could be a bit better

Local 138 is a great little bar on the Lower East Side that I hope gentrification never locates. It deserves to live out its life serving the people of that community at the great prices it offers with an atmosphere that's honest and free of pretense. When you visit, see if Tracy's around, she doesn't work there but she's a fixture, lots of fun, and if you make her laugh real good, she'll snort! *open whisper...She also runs a great comedy show once a month in the back room...close whisper*
