"This daytime cafe on Fairfax near the Grove shares space with a yoga studio and is about what you’d expect from a cafe that shares space with a yoga studio. It’s quiet and calm, with a menu full of vegan and vegetarian options. And the food is pretty great - especially the carrot tartine that involves a thick slice of bread topped with mushrooms, beets, crispy leeks, and a fantastic carrot puree." - Jess Basser Sanders

Google
Unexpected slice of heaven. I was walking up from LACMA to The Grove and found this charming “locals” coffee shop. Honey Lavender oat latte was wonderful. Georgie the barista was so sweet and helpful. And they have a yoga studio down the block! This space is so warm and inviting. Lots of comfy seating available to meet a friend or work for bit on your laptop. I will definitely be back!

The egg avocado sandwich is my favorite thing there! We also ordered the yogurt parfait and it looked really good. I would definitely try it next time i come here. The coffee is good. The atmosphere is a great place for a ‘work’ & ‘study’ vibe. They have doggy treats for your pet! The only downside is it’s not a big place with a lot of seating so you might not find a place to sit. Anyway, i highly recommend.

Google
A client recommended we meet here for an appointment. What a lovely place! They have indoor and outdoor seating, and it’s relaxed and laid back. I got a chocolate chip cookie which was delicious! They also have a selection of jewelry which was really cool. I will definitely be back for a snack and coffee, and when I need to buy a unique gift!

Absolutely loved my experience at this peaceful coffee shop! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted by lush greenery that instantly created a serene atmosphere. The coffee was simply divine – rich, flavorful, and expertly brewed. The ambiance was perfect for both catching up with friends or enjoying some peaceful alone time. What truly set this place apart was the exceptional service – the staff were friendly, knowledgeable, and went above and beyond to ensure my visit was memorable. Can't wait to return for another delightful coffee experience.

Google
Adorable place on Fairfax. Very comfortable working space for a couple hours of your day if you work from home. Their food is exceptionally good for a coffee shop. Please give the breakfast sandwich a try! I have been ordering it every single time I go to this store because the flavor is exquisite.

Google
This cute little coffee shop served a variety of hot and cold drinks with loads of interesting flavours! The Honey latte was delicious and the honey and lavender matcha was definitely a must try also! They had a nice variety of food too, the avo on toast was really good.

Google
Great place with much to offer. Their avocado toast is amazing (add bacon). It's not just coffee.. the cafe/store sell plants, clothes, books, ceramics and more. The hibiscus ice tea is really good, but add a bit of agave for sweetness.

Google
My favorite coffee shop whenever I have a work trip in LA! I highly recommend the sandwiches, empanadas, coffee, and kombucha. The employees are all kind and super helpful too. I can’t wait to come back next time I’m in town.

Carli R.

Yelp
Such good quality and tasty drinks and staff are very nice. Chagaccino and HLV Matcha are amazing.

Yelp
A variety of options! We tried the beach city sandwich and breakfast sandwich, and I must say, the beach city was absolutely DELICIOUS! I did not expect it to be that good, in the end I wanted to swap sandwiches with my brother lol. It seems like a great spot to do some work on the laptop. I would definitely recommend this place to others looking for a good coffee shop, and we even plan on coming here regularly as well. The barista was very helpful in assisting with our orders by giving recommendations.

Yelp
Cool neighborhood spot. Plenty of file in here working on laptops enjoying a coffee or smoothie. A few cool snacks on the menu, plenty of drink options. Cute little shop selling jewelry and other novelty items. My veggie empanada was okay so was the berry smoothie. If I was in the neighborhood, I'd problem stop in for a coffee drink and maybe work time. Staff was friendly, plenty of meter parking.

Yelp
SLOW SERVICE AND FABULOUS FOOD I discovered this cute little neighborhood cafe when an acquaintance suggested we all meet here one Sunday morning. When I arrived, there were only a few customers. At the counter, I ordered the Breakfast Sandwich for $18. I asked the cashier if they would bring it to my table outside when it was ready, and she said they would. By the time my entire group had got their coffee and settled in for a chat, I still didn't have my food. When I went back in to find out what the hold up was, the woman behind the counter apologized. I think they simply spaced out because they hadn't even started fixing it. Once again, she said she would bring it to me. Soon, my toasted sandwich, loaded with egg, bacon, avocado and cheese was delivered. It was still hot and so good that it was worth the unnecessary wait. While I like the convenient location and savvy drivers can easily find street parking if they don't mind walking a block or two, I'll think twice about ordering anything they have to cook in the future. Grab and go is probably the best solution at this Lo/Cal Lo/Service joint.

Yelp
Happened upon this gorgeous little cafe during our most recent visit to Beverly Hills and was pleasantly surprised by the quality and ambiance. Enjoyed a spicy beef empanada and an affogato, both perfect for a quick pick-me-up on a warm summer day. The empanada was locally made, with a light and lovely crust and perfectly-seasoned traditional ground beef filling. It was also a great size and helped me stay full during my self-guided walking tour. Affogato was perfection! Strong but smooth espresso over cold and creamy vanilla ice cream. A simple classic with just enough creamy and sweet. Thank you for the hospitality and fun visit!

Becca M.

Yelp
My absolutely favorite coffee shop! The atmosphere, amazing coffee, and kind staff make this place feel so warm and friendly! The outdoor tables under the canopies are my favorite and the perfect place to get work done or to meet someone special for a coffee date .

Melissa S.

Yelp
The service was great and friendly, I would give 5 stars for that. The ambiance is great too. Parking was a bit annoying with the no parking signs on the side street. The spinach empanada was yummy. Appreciated the free wifi and water filling station. My minus star is because the coffee (latte), in my opinion, wasn't good! I ended up tossing it and getting a matcha drink and that was also not notable.

Yelp
Cute coffee house. Staff was welcoming. Coffee was good. $4 for large drip seems about on par with most of the coffee shops in LA these days Love they sell cute jewelry and incense I'll be back

Ryan A.

Yelp
Really enjoyed the cozy feel of the place. Easy to find, great location, easy parking (meter or street parking). Hop, skip, and a jump from The Grove and Third Street. Food was pretty yummy. coffee was just ok and it took a long time to come out for just a small drip coffee. Also, the sizes are SMALL. If you thought Starbucks was a rip off, I paid $4. What really turned me off was the front of house staff. One of the girls was occupied with another customer having an ongoing conversation while the other was glued to her phone. She didn't look up once until we cleared our throats, and she didn't even acknowledge our presence. nobody asked if it was ourbfirst time. Honestly, the girl looked in a daze. Didn't even realize there were sizes to the coffee because she never asked. The staff of a good place can be a real bummer. I think I'll stick to the other location. Vibes aren't that great here.

Justin L.

Yelp
I am so thankful for this coffee shop. It's so great that they are right around the corner. They've made the whole corner look beautiful. It's so common inside. I get to have a little snack and a little drink right in our neighborhood. They have little gifts to buy when I'm in a pinch. There's always lovely people sitting outside talking. It adds so much to the community.

James A.

Yelp
5/5 stars. It's an amazing neighborhood cafe with great product, people and music! Perfect to go solo to read a book or do some work and also perfect to go with your friends to socialize! Extra points for the gift shop!

Courtney S.

Yelp
Great coffee shop option for working, hanging out with friends, and some quick shopping! There is tons of seating both inside and outside the shop, with interior outlets available if you want to get some work done. I got a latte, which was pleasantly strong and had a nice foam on top. They come in 3 sizes, but overall seem to be a bit more on the pricey end. Sadly, no cute cups for the drinks, but overall a great vibe in the shop.

Minji W.

Yelp
I passed by this place once when it was closed, and I wanted to go so badly so I came back! It was definitely worth it. I love the interior as well as the menu options. I will 100% come back to try their other fun drinks!

Courtney S.

Yelp
New favorite place! Staff are super friendly, great service! Espresso was delicious, very smooth. Love the atmosphere, plenty of indoor or outdoor seating.

Leland S.

Yelp
We were waiting for LACMA to open up so we needed a spot to chill. AMBIANCE Parking: Street parking metered parking. It can get busy during the time of the day. Seating: Outside and inside seating. Feels: It's a hop skip jump away from LACMA (5 minute walk). It's mixed with housings/apartments but also restaurants or eateries as well. The spot itself is pretty cool. I dig the colors, I like the lite rock/R&B music and merchandise. Great place to study, chill, or catch up with a friend. FOOD: Cold Brew (Recommend) Pleasant and not too bitter. This definitely kept me up. Empanada - Spinach (Recommend) Good to the point where I came back to order more! A reasonable size with flaky bread felt fresh and the stuffing was just about right. The chimichurri sauce gives an extra herbal kick! CUSTOMER SERVICE: Great! Solid service. Seemed to be no issues or complaints. TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Fantastic! Steady prices, good food/drinks with an awesome selection, and a nice vibe. I dig talking to my friends and getting some work done. I know Starbucks is a popular spot but this a great local spot. Tips: * Check - in for a discount!

Sadi K.

Yelp
Love this place! Their prices are a little steep, but the quality is definitely there and the atmosphere is a vibe. Part coffee shop, part plant store and gift shop, I always enjoy going there. This is also one of the better coffee shops in this area if you want to work from a coffee shop in my opinion. There's some good sized tables, outdoor seating, and counter seating which are all perfect for working. I love their vanilla latte, but the food there might be my favorite. The Beach City sandwich is a whopping $18, but it's so damn good. There are Brussels sprouts inside the sandwich *chefs kiss*. Highly recommend!

Franco G.

Yelp
Amazing place!! 100% recommended, good coffee, good food!! Good atmosphere and friendly workers.

Peaches A.

Yelp
Beautiful vibes, quiet plant filled cafe with lots of seating and some outlets, wood furniture and quaint Hollywood music playing. Kind service. Tasty drinks. 5/5!!

Yasmeen E.

Yelp
I'm from San Diego, and can never find a good iced chai. But today is the day where I found a good one, and it sucks that it's in LA Their iced chai with oat milk is not too sweet or grainy, just perfect. AND they have the good ice :-)

Shark B.

Yelp
The breakfast sandwich is great. The iced dirty chai with oat milk is probably my favorite drink of theirs, some of the other drinks (such as the green eye and matcha latte which I usually love) are a little underwhelming. Also fairly pricey. The breakfast sandwich is $18. Their service is great though, super friendly people.

Evgeny V.

Yelp
Horrible place with a barista who doesn't know how to make a proper cappuccino. Ended up getting just some disgusting liquid with no layers to it at all.

Jacqueline C.

Yelp
The location is great for the walk up to the farmers market from the Wilshire Vista neighborhood. The coffee is okay. I've been here four times and today I realized the tense feeling from the front staff I've generally felt is racially motivated. I'm a Latina born and raised in Southern California and the white Spaniards working here are rude to people of color. Having family who work in the service industry, I try to be extra polite at cafes and restaurants, but here am met with major attitude.

Natalie M.

Yelp
10/10 recommend for working, beautiful garden-like atmosphere with outdoor seating as well. I had a Chai Latte, would love if they could add Caramel and some other flavors to the menu. I'm looking forward to trying their Honey Lavender latte!

Kelley L.

Yelp
I rarely drink coffee but decided to try Lo/Cal because I was going to LACMA and wanted to try their vanilla latte. Parking on Sunday mornings is not terrible, which is great since street parking is also free then. They have an awesome staff. My drink was perfection; no need for adjustments or add-ons. I also like that they sell items from local businesses. Definitely worth a visit.

Alex G.

Yelp
Super cute, LA style coffee and snack shop with all types of beverages to enjoy. Helpful, friendly service, and open on Sunday's! Coffee was delicious, and the wife loved the Turmeric/Golden Mylk drink. Definitely a place to grab your morning Joe - or whatever speciality drink does your mood!

Mel V.

Yelp
Really appreciate the fast and friendly service from the staff and baristas at Lo/Cal, the prices are a little steep but the food is really filling. Some favorites include their cheese empanada and breakfast empanada, especially with the chimichurri sauce. Comfy seating areas and great spaces to work in, have meetings, or just hang out and grab a coffee or bite to eat. Looking forward to trying out more of what's on the menu!

Yagmur E.

Yelp
This place is my local day time spot. If I am going to a coffee store this is the spot, for sure. Love their oat latte iced or hot, Avo toast is really good. They also have this breakfast sandwich I love with yummy empanadas (!) I am not an egg fan but I even like to have their egg salad toast occasionally. They sell some cute stuff and beautiful plants. Sometimes you see rainbows depending on the lightning and it can't get prettier. Overall cute spot to just have a bite, read books or work remote. The only possible cons is you might smell like food after you sit down inside, especially if there's a food prep. But then you can always sit outside. Worth the vibe.

Robin O.

Yelp
This has been my go to place during an extended stay in LA. The food is delicious, the staff delightful and if you want to sit quietly to work on read this is the place to go. Weather permitting I enjoy sitting outside. Have not eaten anything that hasn't been delicious and I have made my way around the menu!

Dan P.

Yelp
Lo/Cal has excellent food and coffee. Everything is made with great care. The location is practical, being close to museum row. Parking is good, or maybe I have been lucky, because I have been these twice and have found spots just a few feet from the door.

Alanna R.

Yelp
The coffee is good- oatmilk latte, and this almond butter is tasty- and everything almond butter and honey

Cari P.

Yelp
Was in the area and wanted to give this place a try b/c there was a 15% discount for checking in on their Yelp page. I liked the bohemian vibes the shop was giving and that they had displays of candles/small household items available for purchase which we were browsing through while waiting for our order. My fiancé and I ordered a small iced matcha latte and a small drip coffee, breakfast empanada and a PCH (pressed cheese and ham sandwich) all for $15 after the Yelp discount. Nothing really impressed us though. The matcha latte and drip coffee was basic. The breakfast empanada looked and tasted underwhelming - it was very flat and had very little filling. I did like the PCH even though it's super simple b/c it's affordable compared to the other menu items and it tastes good!

Kennedy B.

Yelp
I literally had Lo/Cal two days in a row because it was so good. I stopped in on Sunday for a late breakfast and had a cold brew and egg salad toast. The egg salad was so good- I think they add humus to it. It's light, but super flavorful. The next day I actually placed a to go order and got the breakfast sandwich for myself and my husband got the turkey sandwich. We both thought it was phenomenal. The bread was perfectly toasted, the sauces they use are so yummy, and it's not too heavy. The inside is also super cute! We went on a Sunday morning and there was plenty of seating. I even ended up buying a little mug from their market! 10/10 if you're looking for a quick coffee and bite to eat.

Cassandra H.

Yelp
I would give this place a 4.5 stars review because the place is super inviting and love the peanut butter cookies so yummy & moist! The coffee is descent but I'm kind of a coffee snob and have had better lattes. But this place is not bad and actually love the ambiance!!

Mrl G.

Yelp
Latte was way too sweet, too foamy and once I got past all that bubble it's like watery sugar milk. Can hardly taste coffee notes. It was nasty. Pass. Nice interiors. Warm and inviting. Good customer service. Will maybe return for the empanada.

James K.

Yelp
The pastrami sandwich was great and the coffee was excellent! It felt very local and everybody was incredibly nice!

Brooke G.

Yelp
My go to spot!!! Hands down the best cafe in the area!!! Such a vibe!!! The food is fantastic too!

Davontae F.

Yelp
First things first, my gf and I wanted to grab a quick bite to eat and caffeine boost before visiting the LACMA museum. While driving I saw this coffee shop and figured why not stop in. Let's just say this was a great spontaneous decision. The service here was great! We were recommended to try the Honey Lavender Latte, Breakfast Sandwich and Avocado Toast! Let's just say they did not miss on the recommendations! Lastly, I really like plants so the fact that each of the plants here made my heart smile. Also this place is dog-friendly in case you're walking by with your fur-baby!

Hadley H.

Yelp
This is my favorite coffee shop! I come here all the time and get their vanilla iced latte with almond milk and they allow me to bring my own cup which is awesome! The staff is so sweet and the shop is so relaxing, I love it. They also have an amazing breakfast sandwich! Did I mention they also sell plants and other locally sourced goods?? This place rocks!

Esther K.

Yelp
Great cup of coffee and street parking is usually available. The interior is lit by natural lighting and there are plants and tiled walls to give the space an eclectic vibe. There are larger tables near the back of the cafe and barstool chairs near the front for extra seating.

Manni F.

Yelp
Drove passed this coffee shop/General store a few times and thought it looked so cute so came in today. Very aesthetically pleasing however the service was not I get they're going for the hipster vibe but still not the vibes!... from the girl taking orders to the barista they just weren't very friendly at all, they don't take your name down so people just take drinks from the bar mine and my partners drinks were taken by people behind us in line and they just seemed not to care. The coffee is also meh I've had better latte from a diner down the street.

Kathleen K.

Yelp
Great egg and hummus toast! Good coffee Great service. Nice vibe. Really a nice place to relax .

Mursalin H.

Yelp
Still makes hood coffee and excellent pastrami sandwich. But level of service has regressed. Today morning for example, the barista started the chai before we ordered. We were contemplating between earl grey and chai. Then my 5yo daughter wanted water, which she did before many times but instead she was asked to buy a bottle. Other times we came here, service was top, but today simply wasnt one of the those days

Anna A.

Yelp
Pleasant place, full of organic vibes. Matcha latte was a bit too mild, though I asked to make it stronger, however, loved the breakfast plate. Unfortunately, working hours are inconvenient, otherwise I'd come more often.

Michael R.

Yelp
Deliciousssss! Had the breakfast sandwich and it was soooo good. I would have that for breakfast everyday if I could. Great vibes and friendly staff. Time of visit was 10am on a Saturday. Not that busy.

Nicole D.

Yelp
I can't say that I've ever actually had coffee from here but I MUST rave about the breakfast burritos. As a vegetarian we usually have the potatoes, eggs, beans and maybe cheese shtick but at Lo/Cal I feel spoiled! They add impossible meat to their burritos and it feels so luxurious. OF course the green/red salsa is a must. I am planning to make a point of coming here whenever I'm in town.

Molly O.

Yelp
I visited this shop for the first time this morning after passing by a few times -- and it will definitely not be my last visit. They were serving Stumptown coffee on drip, and sell batches of it on-site, too. I ordered an au lait with steamed oat milk and my barista was nice enough to give me the "first timer's discount" which was really thoughtful. There were two guys working while I was there, and they were really helpful and friendly. The market shop area sells a collection of handmade local artisan goods, as well as the collection of lush houseplants that decorate the interior of the cafe. There are sandwiches, toasts, ice creams and pastries to buy fresh -- as well as a fridge stocked with healthy drinks and snacks. There was ample outdoor seating, but I can see this place being a great spot for relaxing inside and getting some work done -- or meeting a friend for a coffee date once it's safe. The relaxed vibes and the community atmosphere make it somewhere I'd like to hang out, and spend more time!

Bern K.

Yelp
Ordered the pressed cheese and ham since it looked great from the picture on their website. Terrible when you order it. Nothing like the pic. See the difference in my photos. Terrible food quality. Disgusting

Lucy I.

Yelp
Cute spot, croissant was good, it was quiet in there which was nice and I got honey lavender matcha with unsweetened almond milk really good !!! High quality matcha

Helena W.

Yelp
The lavender honey latte was delicious! Definitely on the pricier side but we'll worth it. The location is also a very cute plant shop!
