Food is tasty and fresh! I would say more on the rustic farm to market side, but elevated. Offering alcohol beverages, teas, lemonades, bottled sodas, and a variety of bottled beverages at check out. You order at the counter and they bring out your food to the table. If you want anything additional you will need to go back to the register to order, which can get quite busy at times. FYI- mango mimosas lovers their mango purée to on the tart vs sweet side! We ordered steak & eggs & carne asada hash (this option is specific to this location at the moment) & enjoyed both! Quite a few options for gluten free and also vegan as well! We have eaten previously but for lunch & tried the vegan cashew queso and it was delicious!

Really enjoyed this local spot. The space is spacious with a café-style vibe, making it a comfortable place to sit and enjoy your meal without feeling rushed. The sandwich was well put together on a hearty roll, with a good balance of fillings and a satisfying portion. It paired nicely with the house chips and felt filling without being overly heavy. The salad was especially impressive generous, loaded with ingredients, and surprisingly filling. It had great texture and balance, making it feel like a full meal rather than just a side. Overall, everything felt fresh and thoughtfully prepared. A great option if you’re looking for a relaxed café-style spot with hearty, well-made food.

The plant based options are extremely healthy and delicious, I love this place for this. The sandwiches, the salsas, the cream, the salads... all of them are cooked to perfection and very fulfilling and healthy. But... I still think that they need to increase their plant-based options and decreased their animal flesh and secretions menu. It is not pleasant to eat you meal when there are corpses in the menu.

I have frequented the location in Rice Village, but this is the first time I’d ever visited this location in the heights. I will say I was actually very much impressed with not only the space inside, but also the overall vibe. The interior (and exterior) are immaculate, well lit, and the decor/design is very appealing to the eye This spot was busy when we visited, but there was practically no wait. You walk up to the register and place the order. The staff were incredibly friendly, helpful, and efficient There were plenty of seating, and we didn’t have to wait long for our meal. If you’re in the mood, consider swinging by the fully stocked bar to grab a drink as you wait or as a nightcap The menu offers a variety of delicious foods, but I’d be lying if I said I was ever going to order anything other than the crunchy chicken sandwich. This is one of my favorite sandwiches. It’s hearty, fresh, the textures/crunch work well together, and it’s very flavorful. There’s a variety of sides to choose from, and I would recommend the red potato salad as my favorite There isn’t a lot of parking, and the shred lots get full quickly, but you can always find street parking nearby if you don’t mind a short walk Some tips: If there’s a line and you’re unsure what to get, grab a menu at the station behind the line (situated as you walk in), so you don’t feel rushed I will say it again, the crunchy chicken sandwich is one of the best if not the best chicken sandwich in Houston. This place is amazing. First, the food was super good. I got the crispy chicken with the pretzel bun, and it's as good as it looks. Came with a kale cup and some fruit, and both of those were good too. The staff was friendly too. I liked the food so much, I went back to order more for the next morning breakfast. They were helpful in keeping it fresh, breaking down the food and packing it separately to make sure it stayed good. The atmosphere is also good. It's right by this walking trail, it's beautiful outside, inside, and was busy enough to have a good ambience, but not so much so that it was distracting or difficult to order. Absolutely recommend this place.

LOCAL FOODS - Houston Heights: 1. The foods safe and reasonable. 2. The service is way too menu centric, little communication (especially the bar). Staff doesn't notice the details. 3. The atmosphere was good inside and out.

Love the upbeat (yet chill) vibe of the atmosphere that has a 70’s inspired theme with music and decor to match. And the food is 5-star. I’ve been coming here for years. As a vegan I’m picky, but this restaurant delivers satisfaction every time. Yummy vegan options and the BEST salads ever!!!

We had a delicious Sunday brunch. There are so many great options to try. I went with the croissant sandwich which was very savory. The Harissa aioli was a nice touch to an already delicious sandwich.

I've been coming here for years and I can say with confidence that I will continue to do so. The location is on the exercise trail. The patio is sizable and comfortable for small or larger groups. The food is excellent. That pseudo-fried chicken sandwich is amazing as is the avocado toast. For drinkers, the mimosas are exquisite. I've never had a bad experience in 5+ years, and the servers, bartenders, cashiers, and bussers are all so friendly. Enjoy!

Here's your food review: --- I recently took my niece and nephew to this delightful restaurant near a lively farmer's market. The person behind the counter was incredibly nice and friendly, helping my nephew and niece decide on their orders. The food arrived quickly, was fresh, and tasted excellent. The chicken was tender and perfectly cooked, with just the right balance of sauces and seasonings. We all enjoyed our meals thoroughly and look forward to returning to try more menu items. The restaurant is spacious, with a beautiful outdoor patio that can accommodate many guests. I would definitely come back here.

We always love Local Foods, and this location did not disappoint! We went for Sunday brunch. I got a Bloody Mary and the breakfast sandwich, and my partner got the chicken and waffles. The Bloody Mary was very spicy which is exactly how I like it, and the breakfast sandwich was very good (10/10 for both)!! The chicken and waffles was very good as well (8/10), but my partner said the chicken didn't taste the freshest, and the dish felt like it needed more syrup. The service and ambiance were lovely as well. We will definitely be back!

This was a place I was invited to by one of my friends. He frequents this place and I wanted to see what it was all about. When I arrived there was a big lot behind the restaurant to park. I ordered a Spring Harvest salad and it was good. It was reasonably priced and I didn't care for the other menu items. They had unlimited teas to drink. I think it is a place for more healthy lifestyle but I wont judge. Just not my cup of tea. I would insist you try it if that's your way of life.

Local Foods is a great place to snag a delicious and health-conscious meal always made with fresh ingredients. The Local Foods in the Heights is a chic and trendy spot in a shopping center with other local, small businesses. The parking can be a bit horrendous during peak times (aka. brunch on the weekend), so be prepared to park on the street and walk! You order at the counter and then seat yourself. Your meal is brought to your table in exchange for your table number. On my most recent trip to Local Foods, I tried the Shrimp Lemongrass soup. It was delicious! The soup was very flavorful - full of grilled shrimp, black rice, and bean sprouts, which gave it an awesome texture. It was beautifully presented and served in a huge, flat bowl. I definitely had leftovers! This curry-based soup was a 10 out of 10 for me, especially because it was served at the perfect temperature for eating right away - I'm talking Goldilocks and the three little bears "just right". Note: Another favorite of mine is the crunchy chicken sandwich!

LOVE the food here, their crispy chicken sandwich is always my go to. I truly love it everything about the sandwich & the crisp of it. 4 stars because this place feels a little over priced for a sandwich & soup + ordering at the bar. It won't turn me away because I really do love the food, but just won't go as often. Service is always good & it's always a good packed. Vibes are great on the patio on a nice day.

This is a constant go-to. To me this feels like a staple in Houston if you need a delicious sandwich. Consistent favorites are the banh mi and the salmon bagel, and I think their green pazole is great. In the summer they do this watermelonade that is irresistible. The service is always quick, and always kind. Across all local food locations, the atmosphere is fun, light, and a pleasure to eat in. The same is true of the heights location where you will also find a retail selection of wine and kombucha. I love eating here and this time was no different. I got a special; Brussels sprouts with chicken. Every bit was heaven. Crispy sprouts, a tangy light sauce, fresh bursts of pomegranate seeds, crunchy almond slices, and a funky lovely goat cheese spread. It's like all my favorite things in one bowl.

I have visited Local Foods many times since moving to Houston, but haven't ever visited this specific location until this past weekend. We struggled to find parking when we arrived since the parking is shared with other stores and restaurants but eventually were able to after circling for a few times. Once inside the restaurant, there was a pretty long line but it moved quickly and gave me enough time to look at the daily specials and regular menu. When I got to the counter, I decided to order the "Crunchy" Chicken Sandwich (w/o tomatoes) with housemade chips and pickles. I tried to order a Pumpkin Pie cocktail as well but they were out of the specialty ingredients fot that one. The sandwich was delicious, packed with ingredients and very flavorful. The housemade chips were ok and paired well with their house ranch for dipping. I didn't love the pickle spears and wouldn't order them again. I would visit this location again and get the same meal for sure - yum!

Good option for a healthy dinner. Chimichurri salmon salad is a good portion of fresh greens topped with sliced apples, fennel, and yummy marinated beets. The toasted hazelnuts are a great addition and the lemon vinaigrette on the side is tasty. I ordered delivery and the salmon arrived packed in a separate container, perfectly cooked and still warm. Winter's Bounty is a healthy, filling little side dish- barley and wild rice with roasted root veggies tossed in a maple dressing that isn't too sweet.

Absolutely LOVED this cute little spot! We were in the area's surrounding shops, a beautiful day out, and stumbled upon this hip place to dine for a healthy and FILLING lunch. Able to take home HALF of my meal as leftovers! Tons of healthy options to please all palettes: thick, hearty, (with healthy fats) sandwiches, wraps, soups, salads, bowls; lots of drink varieties (bottle or fountain-with refills), and loved the trendy ambience complete with hop music genre varieties. Definitely coming back!!!

Running errands and stopped by Local Foods and picked up a salad to bring home to eat. The service was fast but I need to say that the way they packed my salad was so bad!!! By the time I got home I had smashed stuff to eat!! Please Local Foods remember we eat with our eyes first. I feel like I paid for junk. I ate a couple of bites but it was not good.

Love local foods. It's fresh, fast, delicious, and the atmosphere is so fun and relaxing. Indoors is bright and cozy, and outdoors is relaxed and great for people watching. The heights location is much bigger than the location in rice village, but has the same great food options. Ordering is done at counter and the restaurant is self seating. Overall restaurant It is a little bit on the pricey side compared to similar models. For example, you order at a counter and there is no table service, but you will still spend $20-30 per person easily (and definitely more if you're buying wine or multiple beverages). My favorite items are the garden Sammie (as a salad) and the beet salad when it's in season.

4.5 stars - definitely a go-to restaurant that i repeatedly visit and highly recommend. I always get the garden sammie on a pretzel bun (sometimes I get it as a salad. Warning: their salads are huge!). It's hard to get something else although I have tried other sandwiches (truffled egg salad. Crunchy chicken. Gulf seafood. Avocado BLT, which is my bfs fav) and their burger. I always get the chicken posole soup with my sandwich! Very tasty! Good amount of chicken. The pepitas add good texture. I also like their potato salad. Other sides we tried this time - SAVORY GRANOLA- (OATS, PUMPKIN SEEDS, HONEY, SESAME SEEDS) - one of the bf's sides. I liked it more than he did. Sweet salty combo. It's a good finisher. STRAWBERRIES & BASIL - (STRAWBERRIES, BASIL, GINGER SYRUP) - bf's other side. Fresh strawberries, but that's it. Not worth the price of a side imo.

Local Foods crunchy chicken sandwich was so so good. I loved the variations in texture, the juiciness of the chicken, and the in house pickles that come with it. The service was fast even though it was pretty busy when we went.

Healthy and good tasting food plus very nice and helpful staff make us come back. The atmosphere is pleasant and fairly quiet. The outdoor patio looks really nice for when the weather is nice

Local foods offers a great variety of healthy options for a quick and easy lunch. I most recently tried their BAHN Mi and was SO impressed. The pork was perfectly tender and seasoned well and the picked onions and jalapeños provided the perfect tang/spice. The baguette was so fresh, crisp exterior with soft doughy interior. The sides I got where the kale salad and broccoli, both hit the spot. Service is always super fast and easy! Great spot in Houston for a quick middle of the day work lunch

Kyle was so educational, friendly, & helpful on all the choices. Customer service 10/10 I live in the woodlands and would drive back here simply for that. The crunchy chicken sandwich house made chips, and pickles were soooo good. Watermelon was juicy, carrot cake is 10/10

Was blown away by Local Foods. The detailing in the decor was so nice and there was so much light! Outdoor was cute too but it was too hot to sit there. You order food at the register with a lot of great options. I got their seasonal summer salad and added shrimp and I am still thinking about it. Best salad of my life

This spot is one of those places you go to when you want something light, healthy, and where you know you won't be disappointed. I like that there are indoor and outdoor seating. The decor is nice. The service is great! My favorite is the garden Sammie. It is packed with vegetables. It is usually my go to (although I should really branch out and try other items on the menu). My friend got the summer harvest salad which she really enjoyed! Highly recommend you check it out

The food here is always nice to try. It's healthy and they have great proportions. Their daily menu specials are where they shine though and they rotate the menu based off of the season. Last time I went, I split the shrimp pasta with my friend, and it was divine. They didn't use the cocktail shrimp like some places tend to do. They brought out the freshest shrimp, and cooked it up in this delicious sauce that they put on top of the pasta. The thought and care make this place a heights staple. There are so many trails around this restaurant, so I'd suggest stopping by here on your walk to try a dish or two.

Local food is always on point on every aspect from parking, clean, healthy, and cute place etc. exception last time I order salmon it was dry, but everyone super great service so I don't like to complain to them and always give another chance.

Visited this spot during lunch with colleagues. It wasn't on my list of spots to try, but I'm open to new things. It's a trendy casual spot with food I can only assume are locally sourced. I had the vegan taco salad and cashew queso. The portions were ENORMOUS. My other lunch buddies both ordered the shrimp Cesar which smelled a bit fishy, but they determined it was decent. The guy at the counter must have realized I was a newbie because he asked my preference and made some recommendations. The ambiance was cool and everyone was nice, but I wasn't impressed with the food enough to return. I'd say if you are looking for a locally sourced fare and you are in this area give it a go.

I FINALLY had the crispy chicken sandwhich. It's so funny, I had a dream about it the night before without ever trying it and I'm so glad I did! It's sooo so delicious. The perfect warm bun, the toppings, the "crunch" the pickles everything melted together to create a delicious sandwhich. The kale was delicious, I loved the addition of golden raisins. The cashiers are super nice and helpful. It's so modern inside! And gets very busy but they are quick.

I've began my fitness journey and decided to stop here to grab a bite after my workout, and I was pleasantly surprised! I came here on a Tuesday evening and the restaurant was pretty busy. We got in line and the cashier took our order. He was super kind and really went out of his way to help me on my order! I was then given a number to place it at my desired seating. The food was brought out less than 10 minutes and my meal was devoured! The sandwich was super tasty! I was a little shocked that my chicken meat was ice cold as I've never had cold chicken meat on a sandwich before, but it was easy to get use to. The chips were super thin but lacked flavor so I would pass on that side dish. However, the potato salad is AMAZING! My meal came out to be $19 for just one plate, so it's more on the high end side. But 5/5 recommend, especially for the service.

A Houston classic for a reason! Local foods is incredible- everything I have tried there is great! Always a great aesthetic spot to meet up with friends during the week. My favorite sandwich so far has to be the crispy chicken sandwich, which tastes delicious while being healthy!

I ordered the crunchy chicken sandwich and it was fresh. Chicken was not fried. It's crunchy because it has nut seed crumble in it. Also ordered the cashew cheese with chips. It was tasty but chips had a hint of tajin on them. Ordered posole as a side & it was savory

Every time I visit Houston, Local Foods is always on my visit list. Snuggled in the good ole Houston heights, grab ya green juice, yoga matt, pet hamster and boogie your way in to Local Foods. This iconic restaurant will not disappoint you. They have a S tier rated garden sammie straight from local farmers. The sammie comes with two sides. You have to try the potato salad it is a must! Will take you back to your summer family bbq back when you was a child. Now if you're tryin to get some more greens in the kale salad is a move!! To end my review there's this pristine picture of the founder of the restaurant in the ladies room. Bon appetite! MUAH chefs kiss!

First time going to Local Foods. The atmosphere is cool - good for an afternoon lunch, brunch, or maybe a happy hour after work. You order at the front and can seat yourself. It was super crowded around 1 pm on a Thursday (but that is the height of lunch hour, so not sure how busy they are during off times). My colleagues and I had to wait 15 min for a table. On to the food: I had the seasonal harvest salad. The herb dressing was surprisingly good, fresh, and creamy (without dairy). I particularly liked the different textures in the salad - aside from greens, there were seeds, pickles, corn, goat cheese, and crispy fried Brussels sprouts. I didn't get any protein on it, but it was filling. You can add chicken, salmon, etc., depending on your preference. Prices were fair, maybe a bit more pricey than other restaurants of the same style. However, the food was fresh and tasty. Also, any sandwich can be turned into a salad (love it).

My best friend loves this place and has been pushing me to try the food here. So, I ordered a few things from UberEats including the Roasted Garlic Cannellini Hummus and Asian Chicken Salad. The Asian Chicken Salad was okay, but the Roasted Garlic Cannellini came with black, BURNT toast to go with the hummus. It was ridiculous. The bread pieces were literally black. Never going to go here--who sends out burnt bread???????? I tried to eat it because I was so hungry, but it made the hummus so gross.

Delicious and high quality grub with large portions. Prices are pretty high here but at least you know that you're getting great food. I had the Winter Harvest salad with chicken. It was full of tasty and healthy ingredients. A lot of different flavors and textures. Really enjoyed it. I also tried some of my fiancé's egg salad sandwich. It was delicious -- loved the pretzel bun. Finally, had some of their posole soup -- yummy! Easy online ordering system (quick payment option with Apple Pay available). Ordered on my phone en route to the restaurant, parked outside, and within minutes, received a text that my food was ready. Simple and efficient. Highly recommended for a tasty and healthy meal.

Food: I ordered the Crunchy Chicken sandwich with chips and kale salad as my 2 sides. The portion was great and so was the flavor. The chips were crunchy, and the dressing in the salad was fresh. For the main entree, the sandwich had many different ingredients that worked together well. Everything was so fresh and delicious. Service: Not much to say here, you walk up and order at the front and then find your seat. The food did come out very quick! Ambiance: Going on a Saturday for lunch, the business was expected. However, we were still able to find a seat quickly! Everything inside is clean- this is a great lunch spot.

I found this gem through a couple friends and I am so glad I did! This spot is diverse in its offerings including healthy choices that don't make me feel guilty for my choices! This location I tend to hit during off hours which really works for me when I need to work or take phone calls. The staff is also super friendly with suggestions all the time for offerings. My favorite happens to be the chips seasoned with bay seasoning because it reminds me of the east coast!

The staff and service here are next level! Very attentive and kind. The food is great too, a bit comfort and a bit experimental. I enjoyed it and will be back!

Super busy on a beautiful Sat. lunch time meal. Meeting family and got one of the last two tables available. Parking always packed- had to park a block away across Heights Blvd. at playground. Order at the counter, get a number find a table. Our Avocado BLT & Asian salad came out within 10 mins. Sandwich was delicious and salad was overly dressed with their soy dressing making it too salty-soggy. I'll have to give it another try but hopefully the salad will be crunchy and crispy.

Love the taco salad! I do chicken instead of tempeh and ask for the house hot sauce. Cute location with great ambiance!

I came here with a party of 4 and it was very quick and delicious! All the ladies got cocktails, the lavender lemonade, sweater weather, and h-town sweet tea-- we all were very impressed. You order at the front and then choose a seat and the servers bring your order to your table. The servers were all very friendly and attentive, the food was very interesting, but was amazing! There were many ingredients in my salmon bowl that I would've never thought to include, but I enjoyed all of it!

The crunchy chicken sandwich is so freaking good. This is the place in the area for a sit down meal.

The heights location is very aesthetic, with plenty of indoor and outdoor seating available. There's also availability for large groups if needed. There's plenty of parking that also gets shared with other businesses, so it's a bit variable but I personally didn't experience any issues with finding spots. My friends and I all got the crispy chicken and we were not disappointed. The ingredients were very fresh and filling -- I could barely finish half the sandwich! The crunchiness comes from the chips they put inside the sandwich. It's more shredded chicken than it is a chicken fillet that you'd imagine from the dish title. I would get it again! For the drink, I got the Pecan Porter which is a dark beer. I would get it again! I would come back to this place and try their other dishes! Highly recommend.

Definitely a go to place when I'm in Houston. Fresh ingredients that are super tasty. My go to is the pesto chicken sandwich with whatever fresh salad they have :)

Visited Houston and this was the first place we went and it was great! Came here for lunch and left full and happy. They use high quality ingredients, everything was so fresh. Texas wagyu beef - this was so delicious! I'm always weary when ordering steak sandwiches because nothing is worse than when the steak is overcooked or dry. The steak on this one was so juicy and tender (see photos). The Gruyère cheese on it was melted perfectly and the jalapeño aioli gave it just the right amount of flavor. All sandwiches come with 2 sides or soup. Get the potato salad! Will definitely come back here whenever I'm back in Houston. Perfect lunch spot that will fulfill your sandwich or salad cravings.

I LOVE this location. Daniel and Andrew are fantastic. I go here at least once per week. I love their fresh ingredients and they are SUPER fast! I love getting their food to go when I fly, it is packed well and travels well their salads and vegetarian options are amazing. I could not be happier with the service and quality of food at this location.

Well I love Local Foods & their crunchy chicken sandwich. My husband ordered it to go & for some reason we had sourdough bread versus their infamous pretzel bread which I much prefer. The sourdough bread made the sandwich dry & I didn't like that. The pretzel bun is definitely what makes the sandwich. Price is decent & besides the bread, the sandwich is great with plenty of protein.

Lemon Grass Soup with shrimp. It was delicious. It was the daily deal. They now offer HH on wine until 6 o'clock for $6 a glass.

First time visitor, and I am utterly charmed. The location is gorgeous and welcoming, just like the menu. All the food is clearly prepped with care, being delicious, beautiful, and nutritious. The allergen transparent and friendly menu is a breath of fresh air for those of us used to having to ask a lot of questions. The employees know all the ingredients, answer clearly and quickly, and I was able to order several items without modification. The sauce on the Banh Mi sandwich is rich and savory. Each bite packs a lot of flavor. The Thai Curry soup is mild, with the sweet potato really coming through, and the cashews and basil bring nice crunch and flavor to each bite. My party also had rave reviews for the Crunchy Chicken sandwich. 10/10 would recommend for healthy food that doesn't sacrifice taste. The employees also make the experience welcoming, bringing fun and class to the environment.

The food was so delicious and fresh. I had the Chicken Crunch Sandwich with a cup of chicken pozole & I loved it. They have an outdoor patio to enjoy your food outdoors. The inside of the restaurant is also very cozy. I overall had a great experience & can't wait to come back!

Every time I visit my friend, we have to go here. She always gets the chicken sandwich, and I have sampled a variety of options. Most recently the BLT on sourdough with a fried egg peaked my interest- and it did not disappoint. They have such a fun variety of drink options as well! This is a staple around these parts for a good reason! Very fresh, fast and seasonal offerings.

Today I had the best egg salad sandwich of my life complete with the best pretzel bun I've ever tasted. Usually I don't care for pretzel buns- but this pretzel bun was insanely delicious, warmed and crisp. My husband had the smoked salmon sandwich and I was lucky enough to get to go halfsies and taste both. After my bites of egg salad I was like, "there's no way the other sandwich can compete"... then I tasted it... and I threw my hands up. This place is amazing. All their food is good! The potato salad: yum. The chips: addicting. The cucumber salad: mouth-watering. I love how many options they have and the quick fast-casual format. This is perfect for lunch! The staff were all friendly and professional. The ambiance is trendy and fun. It's the full package. We'll definitely we back soon!
