Local Public Eatery - Review - The Woodlands - Houston - The Infatuation

"This new-school sports pub originally from Vancouver just opened its second Texas location in The Woodlands’ Market Street. Inside, it's dim lighting, an open kitchen, and plenty of TVs to catch the game day action, all anchored by a massive bar. Outside, the patio wraps around the corner, and the roof rolls open when the weather’s right. The kitchen makes bar food fancy: crispy pavé potatoes loaded with bacon and horseradish aioli, tandoori chicken pizza with chutney and yogurt drizzle, spicy panang shrimp curry, and sirloin steak two ways—with fries or shrimp and pork dumplings. Wash it down with a local pint or The Porron, a party pitcher of Vinho Verde served without glasses (for real)." - Brooke Viggiano

LOCAL Public Eatery in The Woodlands is truly exceptional from start to finish! The moment you walk in, the host and reception team greet you with warm smiles and genuine hospitality, making you feel welcome right away. The servers are incredibly friendly, attentive, and professional, always checking in at just the right time and offering great suggestions from the menu. The food is absolutely amazing each dish is fresh, bursting with flavor, and beautifully prepared, from appetizers to desserts. The drinks are crafted with care and perfectly complement the meal. The atmosphere is vibrant, modern, and cozy, creating the perfect setting whether you’re enjoying a casual lunch, a fun happy hour, or a lively night out with friends. I highly recommend making a reservation because this popular spot fills up fast, and there is usually about a 20-minute wait if you arrive without one. If you’re looking for top-notch food, exceptional service, and an unforgettable dining experience, LOCAL Public Eatery is a must-visit in The Woodlands!

This was my second visit, and once again we loved the food! The service was awesome — Zoie was so sweet and attentive without being overbearing. She was amazing, and we’ll definitely ask for her again next time. Do yourself a favor and ask for Zoie when you come! We ordered the fully loaded crispy potatoes, the deluxe burger, the portobello mushroom pizza, and the peanut butter & chocolate cup for dessert. The crispy potatoes were absolutely delectable — served on a bed of hot sauce that added just the right amount of flavor without being too spicy (even for someone like me who doesn’t love spicy food!). The deluxe burger was juicy and flavorful, and the bacon was perfectly crispy. My husband raved about the portobello mushroom pizza, especially after Zoie suggested trying it with a side of truffle ranch — such a great recommendation! For dessert, we couldn’t resist the peanut butter & chocolate cup that Zoie recommended, and wow — it did not disappoint. The bottom layer is a rich chocolate mousse, followed by a thicker peanut butter mousse, Oreo crumbs, and peanuts, all topped with a scoop of ice cream and drizzled with caramel sauce. It’s decadent and definitely big enough to share! All around, an amazing meal with fantastic service. We can’t wait to come back!

My sister and I attended the grand opening. The experience has become a fun and enjoyable shared memory. Our server that evening was exceptional! Professional, knowledgeable, pleasant, friendly, and fun. The food was excellent. “Plate licking” good. The FOH management team, they were attentive, interactive, and assisted in all areas when needed. BEFORE any potential hold-ups or set backs. I was thoroughly impressed by the attention to; emphasis, of hospitality and “customer service” training. Great atmosphere! Note-worthy decor. Classy-casual cuisine. Followed up with high-end service and 5 star management! I hope the over all quality remains or increases!

We had a great experience! Carleigh took excellent care of us—super friendly and on top of everything. Drink refills were lightning fast, which we really appreciated. The food was just as impressive: the Korean BBQ, spicy chicken sandwich, and dip appetizer were all outstanding. Highly recommend both the food and the service!

Google
Dinner was delicious! We sat on the patio and the atmosphere was wonderful. They gave us complimentary wine upon our arrival and the service was attentive. Our drinks were great and so was our appetizer. Our server recommended the shrimp dumplings which a great suggestion. If you get a side of fries, be sure to get the truffle ranch. It was delicious. We both enjoyed our entrées and would definitely come back!

Celebrated my 33rd birthday on their first night open. We had the best time! The service was amazing. The manager and general manager came by our table a few times and were so nice. Our server Paige was a doll! The food and drinks were awesome. We highly recommend Local Public Eatery!

First time here, Megan T was an amazing server! The crying chicken starter was among the best starters I have ever had at any restaurant. The breakfast pizza had a taste of perfectly cooked bacon in every bite. The triple cheeseburger I had was so tender, matched with their Chipotle sauce, making it outstanding. I will definitely be back.

The Woodlands Local Pub Eatery – A Welcoming Spot with Great Service and Tasty Dishes! Located in the heart of Market Place, this new addition to the community is a much-needed spot for food and drink enthusiasts. On a busy Friday night, we had to wait about 45 minutes for a table, but the wait was made much easier with complimentary High Noon seltzers, a thoughtful touch by the staff. The restaurant has a charming décor, with excellent attention to detail both inside and outside. The outdoor area features fans and trellises with heaters, which is perfect for winter evenings, creating a cozy and welcoming atmosphere. It’s clear that the team here puts effort into making guests feel comfortable. The service was top-notch. The staff, including trainers and managers, were actively engaging with guests and making sure everything was running smoothly. You could feel the buzz of a team working hard to ensure great service, which added to the overall positive experience. As for the food, we tried three dishes: the freshly made shrimp and pork dumplings, the Chicken Satay noodle salad, and the Ahi Poke bowl. All were delicious and well-presented, with generous portions. The shrimp and pork dumplings were a highlight, bursting with flavor, and the Ahi Poke bowl was fresh and satisfying. To finish off, we had the apple cobbler, which was the perfect sweet end to the meal—sweet, buttery, and just the right balance of fruit. Overall, The Woodlands Local Pub Eatery is a promising new spot in the area. They’ve clearly worked hard to ensure quality food and top-tier service. I’m sure they’ll do well and become a staple in the community!

Yelp
We had such a great experience at Local Public House in The Woodlands! Our server, Natalie B., was fantastic. friendly, attentive, and made us feel really taken care of. We tried the Christmas pot pie and the curry rice bowl, and both were delicious. comfort food with great flavor. The place has a fun, groovy atmosphere with plenty of energy, and it's an awesome spot for watching games,TVs, good vibes, and a lively crowd without being overwhelming. Overall, great food, great service, and a great scene.

Yelp
The host staff is friendly and offered a complimentary glass of rose as we walked to our table. We were surrounded by many televisions in the restaurant bar area, great for Sunday football. My son and I came for brunch for the first time and we were pleasantly surprised. The food exceeded our expectations. Genesis was a great server, she had excellent recommendations based on our preferences for food. Overall, the atmosphere is upbeat, the floor management is attentive, and the restrooms are clean. I also appreciated that management viewed my original post and addressed it. This experience was free of flies.

Yelp
What a great new place to try out! Located in Market Street at the old La Madeleine's location. This place has a great outdoor seating area that has fans to keep you cool in the summer and heaters to keep you warm in winter. Lots of TVs throughout the patio area to watch while eating some great food and sipping on your favorite beverage. The patio is covered so rainy days are not an issue. Best part, it's pet friendly! The staff is fantastic! They were all so friendly. Great customer service! This restaurant has a great selection of drinks that include cocktails, beers, wines and nonalcoholic beverages. Their food menu has something for everyone. I really enjoyed the Tandoori Chicken Pizza. The flavors were amazing, the crust was thin & crispy. Perfection! My husband really enjoyed his Fried Chicken Ramen. And we both shared the Peanut Butter & Chocolate Cup for dessert. We can't wait to go back and try out other menu options. PS-They also have a great looking brunch and happy hour menu.

Yelp
First of all, the service was really great. Sometimes, I can be indecisive and all over the place but our server Genesis was very kind and patient which I always appreciate a lot. I got a BBQ rice bowl which was really delicious! The woodlands doesn't have any Korean restaurant so it was such a treat for me. My husband's sandwich was just ok, he said. I'd trust him because he's a sandwich expert lol. The vibe seemed very much like their neighbors Bosscat's. All in all, I have to say this is a spot we'd definitely be back to as we don't really love a lot of spots nearby.

Yelp
Fantastic! I wish I got more pictures but we were there in the early afternoon and then the night as well and the staff and food was just spot on! The service team/waiters/waitresses demonstrated great team work and the food was awesome! Another time I will share more about there food because I can't give details like I'd normally do because we were with like a party of 8 most of the time and sharing dishes, etc. it's not cheap but the weather was nice and sitting outside was amazing! Pic attached is the burger with fries but our friend had some nachos that were really good too. Just make sure you make a reservation!

Yelp
I visited this restaurant / cocktail bar to try out one of their sandwiches since I heard it was very good. Inside is like an upscale dive bar with a shuffleboard table and dim lighting, but also strangely enough family friendly. It is kind of loud in here, so I wouldn't think this would be a great first date spot unless you just like to yell. During my visit, they had a table set up once inside the door to promote their house rose. I tried a sample which they let you take to your table. It was okay, but I'm not a big rose drinker. The front of their large menu is a detailed and thorough drink and happy hour menu. A lot of thought probably went into developing this as not only do they have several mocktails and coffees, but they also have a section of mixed cocktail and mocktail concoctions if yoy want the alcohol but a lighter drink. I've never even seen this before. The rear side is brunch and regular food menu. Their dessert selection is the smallest section of the menu. I went with the spicy chicken sandwich which was nearly $20. I sure hope it's delicious. Some interesting dishes include a tandoori chicken pizza, prime NY steak enchiladas (a splurge for $73), fried chicken ramen and steak and dumplings. There is an obvious Asian influence on some of their menu items. Sandwich - this is a tall but small sandwich with lots of shredded cabbage and pickles. The actual breast is small and has a lot of breading. It was not spicy in the least for me. Half way through I just ended up leaving the bread and eating the breast alone. I feel this sandwich should have been no more than $16 since it didn't have any premium toppings like bacon or cheese. Fries- shoestring like fries but do not seem fresh cut. At least they were hot when the plate came out but got cold rather quickly. Service was pretty decent though but I was sitting at the bar area and constantly in front of a server. Overall I would definitely return due to the atmosphere, but I'd certainly try a different item on the menu. Mostly likely the steak and fries aka steak frites at other restaurants.

Yelp
Huge shoutout to our waitress Jas!!! She has such a sweet and positive energy that really made us feel welcomed! She was knowledgeable, prompt, and attentive as well. Thank you Jas!!! We arrived on a Sunday afternoon to check out this new food eatery. Upon arrival we were greeted by the hostess and offered a complimentary glass of wine. We were seated right away in a booth area. The restaurant was pretty full but there were plenty of staff members to service everyone. The restaurant has a rustic/country/chic look about it. I honesty felt like I was in downtown Houston or uptown which created a cool, out of the norm feeling. We ordered Bacon Cheeseburger and Steak & Fries. All was fresh and delish! The sauce on the steak was so good I had to ask for an additional cup of it lol. Great addition to The Woodlands!!! Will be back!

Yelp
I visited Local for lunch today. Im not sure if the reservation was mandatory but I saw it as an option so I made one. During lunch, they were not crazy busy. My friend and I both ordered sandwiches. Them a burger and me grilled chicken. The aoli sauces used on them is what stood out and made both sandwiches so enjoyable. I hope to come back to local again soon and try more menu items!
google avatar

Gigi P.

Yelp
steak fajitas were delicious! very flavorful. i did have to ask for cheese, but it comes with salsa, sour cream and guac. i wish there were chips i could've eaten with the meal for the salsa and guac! service wasn't the fastest but our waitress was very well attentive and made great conversation. it was pretty dark in the restaurant, i would say it vibes the vibe of a fancy work dinner.

Yelp
My fav spot to watch some football on Sunday night ! Good chicken sandwiches and staff always on point. Good vibes in the woodlands.
google avatar

Carolina L.

Yelp
Local Public Eatery was a great spot for casual bites and good vibes! The atmosphere is lively without being too loud, and the staff is super nice and attentive. Their menu was a nice mix of comfort food and creative twists. I really liked their burger with their special sauce and their choices of cocktails. Definitely worth a try!
google avatar

Angelique G.

Yelp
Fresh food that tasted great. My husband and I both had burgers. Come hungry as they are filling. Service was a little slow but friendly nonetheless. A nicer, refined bar setting and plenty of tvs for sports fans. I probably wouldn't return with my daughter but possibly for a day date with my husband.
google avatar

Andrea E.

Yelp
Will definitely have to give this place another try, because obviously everyone else has had good experiences. We were seated, with the reservation, and no one came up to our table in 15 minutes so we left. No one gave us water, said be right with you, or anything else. It was a little confusing because there were so many servers walking by our table. Everyone else that was there seemed happy though, so maybe it was just a one off.

Quincy G.

Yelp
The food was good overpriced for the amount bought a $21 pizza was charged extra for Parmesan cheese they nickel and dime you for the experience and $17 for a martini is crazy a steak house is cheaper prices need to go down by a couple of dollars on every item
google avatar

Darcy V.

Yelp
Loved trying out this new restaurant! They great you with a glass of wine! They have one of the best happy hrs! The tacos were really good. 3 tacos for $8. They have great service. It's a fun atmosphere.
google avatar

Marisol C.

Yelp
Definitely still very busy in there with people wanting to try the restaurant out, happy hour is decent. The spicy salami pizza is delicious! I was definitely craving it the next day. The uniforms are definitely more sports bar friendly!

Yelp
Food: Burger and fries were average. They didn't taste fresh. 3 Stars Service: Fast and efficient, but lacked southern friendliness and warmth. 2 Stars Ambiance: Posh and upscale. 5 Stars Overall: 3 Stars

Yelp
Super disappointed with the food and service. Visited early on a Friday evening and took advantage of half price wine which was fantastic. From there, it was downhill. They brought us the wrong bottle of wine...twice. Ordered apps for the table and they were mediocre at best. $25 nachos with zero protein, minimal burnt cheese and not even half a can of black beans. The sweet heat 'roni pizza literally made my friends sick. Be prepared to pay for every soda...no free refills. Won't be back. Expect this place to close before year end.

Ronak P.

Yelp
Stopped by Local Public Eatery on a Sunday, and the atmosphere was just right--football on the TVs, fans cheering, and a fun, energetic vibe without being overwhelming. For food, I tried the huevos rancheros and the steak with dumplings--both were delicious and satisfying. The flavors felt well thought out and hearty, definitely worth ordering again. For drinks, I went with their signature Skinny Mango Margarita. It was refreshing and enjoyable, though I personally would have loved just a little more punch of flavor. Overall, really enjoyed the experience and will definitely be back to try more from the menu! Great spot for a Sunday with friends, good food, and good energy.

Yelp
Great food, service and ambience. We had the nachos, dumplings, pork tacos and the Korean beef bowl. All were so good and I highly recommend trying this new place. Our server Dakota was great and made some really good recommendations.

Helena W.

Yelp
This place is very cute and conveniently located near the mall. They also have a cute patio. The outside presents as semi-upscale but the inside presents as a sports bar. The menu is kind of hard to tell what type of cuisine they're trying to serve, but it's a combo of everything. Their happy hour menu is a little pricey for the amount of food you get. The dumplings had an odd flavor to me & honestly tasted like what I've had from a frozen bag. $19 happy hour nachos that do not even include a protein without paying extra is a little insane to me. Their drinks are made so that you keep ordering more, don't expect a "kick" at all. I'm not sure I'd return as I actually like Bosscat across the street and their cocktails are made better for my preference.
google avatar

Jess N.

Yelp
Went on opening night. Atmosphere is awesome. Dark moody inside, patio with rolled up door for nice indoor outdoor feel. Sat at the bar, service was good. Brooke and Makena were nice. The apple cobbler was delicious home cooking fall season all in a dish. I would come back for that specifically. The dumplings had a lot of flavor (not your generic frozen tasting ones) and the wings had a good vinegar buffalo kick. Lots of your usual staple drinks but made well. Love that they are open late. I will definitely be back.
google avatar

Lisa W.

Yelp
Husband and I decided to eat here as the restaurant was new to the Woodlands in Market Street. We liked the vibe, food & drinks. We noticed that the waitress and multiple hostesses were constantly checking up on us and asking the same questions as the waitress (how's the food, is everything ok and do you want another drink). It was hard to relax and just enjoy our food with all the questions. Found out that the restaurant had only been open a week, so, we kind of think this is why there were so many interruptions. Would like to go back and hope the waitress will be the only one checking on us.
google avatar

Kristin A.

Yelp
We had a great time at Local Public Eatery. The food was really good and the place had a fun vibe. Our server Jessica made the whole experience even better. She was friendly, paid close attention, and made sure we had everything we needed. She also gave us great suggestions that we really enjoyed. We are already looking forward to coming back and will be asking to sit in Jessica's section again.
google avatar

Amber W.

Yelp
Amazing food, drinks, ambiance, but the service was amazing. The staff was great but Chy specifically made a rainy day, traffic, and a bit of a wait so worth it. I truly can't enough good things about her, just so kind and the dedication she had was fantastic. She really made the experience 10x better. She offered amazing recommendations and overall this place is worth every good review. The loaded potatoes are elite - and the steak was cooked perfectly for the sandwich as well
google avatar

Ashley M.

Yelp
able to squeeze in to the bar on a concert night - yummy espresso martini & poppin environment.

Yelp
Great spot for lunch, been open a month and I can't wait to return for happy hour. Friendly staff and great food. I had the blacken chicken burger with the house made onion rings. Great ambiance for happy hour or a quick lunch.
google avatar

Yelp
Great new spot that recently opened up. My wife and a friend popped in for happy hr and ended up staying for several hours. The patio is fantastic and the staff is super friendly. The little things like holding the door open for you and managers checking-in was very much appreciated. The happy hr prices are extremely reasonable and the food was much more refined than your typical bar food. We did for a while for our last round of drinks, but it was only their second day open and it started to get pretty packed by the time we left so I can understand. We will definitely be adding this spot to our weekend rotation.
google avatar

Yelp
So wanted this restaurant to be a hit and was really pleased with the service but ultimately the food disappointed. My wife and I visited LPE with a group of friends. Wings were great. Service was great. We were welcomed with a small glass of rose. Unfortunately the chicken in the Asian chicken salad was not cooked. They did replace entree. My wife went back again this evening and ordered the shrimp which came out not fully cooked. The restaurant has a good vibe but 0-2 on food being cooked is not a good track record.

Michael C.

Yelp
We thought we would try Local Public for lunch and we were not disappointed. The burger was absolutely delicious. Service was friendly and fast. Plus the complimentary taste of the house Rose' when as we're being seated was pretty good also. We will be back.

Jo D.

Yelp
We went to LPE to watch college football and try the food. Great experience! Starting with a nice greeting from lovely girls and offered a taste of Rose. Our server Carleigh was excellent with a great sense of humor. The food- salads, wings, fries, tacos all very flavorful and tasty. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Kristen S.

Yelp
My husband and I were playing bookie o e day and stopped in for lunch. While the drinks and food were fantastic, the service made this restaurant truly stand out. The Sassy Sangria was a perfect Friday refresher, and the pork tacos had us contemplating a second order! I definitely will be back for the happy hour!

T L.

Yelp
Sadly, the food was not good. The burger was so salty it was barely edible, and I love salt. The LPE salad was fair but nothing special. We won't be returning when there are many other places with nice patios AND good food.

Tracy S.

Yelp
We got the crudités a few old fashioneds and the steak sandwich. Everything was AMAZING. We love this place! 10/10

Tim O.

Yelp
Food and service are good but be prepared for the shortest wine pour in The Woodlands. 2-3 sips and it's gone.

Kristian S.

Yelp
LPE is our new hangout! Our server Jessica was amazing! The food and the atmosphere are top notch. It's an upscale pub vibe, but still down to earth. Every staff member was very attentive and friendly.

Lil O.

Yelp
I've been twice. Once for dinner and once for Sunday brunch. The staff is very sweet and welcoming. The atmosphere is upbeat and fun. The big negative for me is the food. The best way I can describe it is bar food. It's like Chilis, but with market Street prices. There is nothing special or different about any of the offerings and the menu is all over the place. Really disappointed, but I'm sure the average person who dines at bars will enjoy it. Strange that it's right next to Bosscat, which is also very much bar food. But slightly better.

Briana N.

Yelp
This was my second visit, and I'm already hooked! The portions were just right, the drinks were incredible, and the service couldn't have been better. Sydney was my server and she was not only attentive but also such a fun personality to be around. The atmosphere was fantastic, and the warm weather made those spicy margaritas even more enjoyable. The night manager, Alexus, was so kind and welcoming. It truly felt like dining at a friend's home. Such an amazing spot, and I can't wait to come back again with even more friends!
