What To Eat At Market 57 - New York - The Infatuation

"Local Roots makes seasonally-driven food inspired by the owner’s Chinese heritage, and its vibrant, purple rice fan tuan is a great choice for a grab-and-go breakfast or lunch. If you have a little more time to wait around, we recommend the cheesy scallion pancake wrap, which is exactly what it sounds like—a ton of melted cheese stuffed inside a crisp scallion pancake. They also have boba tea and a bunch of baked goods." - carina finn koeppicus

NYC Restaurant Closings, May 2024 | Eater NY

"The Brooklyn cafe run by produce supplier Local Roots closed on May 25; owner Wen-Jay Ying attributed the shutdown to rising costs, staffing issues, and lingering pandemic-created chaos after the market opened in 2021." - Luke Fortney

Small Farmers Pivot to Online Orders to Compete With Amazon and Walmart | Eater

"An aggregator serving New York City that sources from nearby small farms and historically relied on member pickup sites at local cafes and restaurants; with many pickup locations closed, the organization scrambled to add home delivery by hiring packers and drivers, implementing delivery-routing software, and organizing routes—facing high per-delivery costs (as much as $15) in dense urban settings compared with larger delivery services." - Lisa Held

Sad story, the owner used our services for a year. We like to support small businesses and offer a free month if people can make their bills. In February WenJay asked for the month. We gave it her. Now she wants the last 6 months to be refunded and even tried to do a charge back. Would highly recommend not working with her or getting her product. It’s not sustainable.
