"Local Tide is a stellar one-stop shop for exciting seafood-based genius. This counter in Fremont deserves a medal for its creamy smoked belly dip alone, served with paper-thin potato chips tossed in a house seasoning that you can and should purchase. But their lineup of sandwiches, like the seared albacore on griddled sourdough or a McDonald’s-style Filet-O-Fish copycat made with panko-coated dover sole, proves that phenomenal Seattle seafood doesn’t have to involve salmon or chowder. But you know what? Local Tide has great salmon and chowder too." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley
"Normally, the bigger the filet, the juicier the result. But Local Tide’s dover alongside salt-and-pepper home fries defies such laws. Paper-thin and curled at the edges, it only appears dry—the middle bits are still moist and flaky. A generous swirl through dill-striped tartar, and you’ve got an exemplary balance of tangy mayo and crackly panko. Their homemade seafood seasoning sprinkled on top is a bonus, too. While you're at it, make it a DIY captain's platter by adding an order of their stellar fried oysters." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente
"Aside from velcro footwear, troll statues, and the occasional hit TV show about an abnormal concentration of attractive doctors, Seattle’s "thing" is casual seafood. No one does it better than Local Tide in Fremont. This bright counter spot is all about sourcing local, be it fried Washington-caught dover sole, or a sandwich stuffed with seared albacore tuna from the Oregon Coast. You’ll still find PNW classics like clam chowder and plenty of salmon, though it’s dishes like their Filet-O-Fish dupe and golden triangles of pork fat-spiked shrimp toast that keep us coming back. And if something from the sea isn't your thing, the smashburger (with a tasty mess of beef drippings and caramelized onions) is just as incredible as the pescatarian stuff. Use Local Tide as your never-fail first stop when anyone comes to visit." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley
"When your shirt is sticking to your back, you haven't seen shade for hours, and your in-laws in town are clamoring for seafood, don’t waste your time at a stuffy tourist trap. Head to Local Tide instead. This Fremont spot is paradise in the form of albacore tuna sandwiches, circulating cold air, and a frosty pint from Aslan Brewing." - aimee rizzo, kayla sager riley, gabe guarente
"Victor Steinbrueck’s counter-serve restaurant feels like the natural evolution of casual seafood joints like Ivar’s. The vibe is casual and the dishes are familiar: smashburgers, crab rolls, clam chowder, salmon teriyaki, banh mi with rockfish. But everything is just a little better than it needs to be — like, that banh mi is loaded with herbs and vegetables, and the shrimp toast is buttery and light. Incredibly, nearly everything on the menu is under $20, making it maybe the last legitimate bargain in Fremont. Know before you go: On weekends, the lines are long and parking is scarce. The move is to show up for a weekday lunch." - Harry Cheadle
