This cozy Albany Park bar serves up Balkan-style tavern pizza, pool games, and a welcoming vibe perfect for enjoying a cold drink with friends.
"Aside from possibly being the brightest dive to drink a PBR tallboy in Chicago, this Albany Park bar is different from others because of its tavern-style pizza—specifically the ones with Balkan toppings. Along with a few locals playing pool, you can find tasty pies painted with peppery tomato sauce and topped with smoky cevapi, sudzuk, or suho meso. The thin crust has an almost matzah-esque crispiness, and it makes for a perfect snack while nursing a can of Modelo (they don’t have beer on tap). If you don’t want to hang out under Lockal's many TVs and mini flags of the world, they also do delivery and pick-up. Food Rundown photo credit: John Ringor Cevapi Pizza Our favorite pie here. The bits of slightly funky sausage and onions balance the zesty tomato sauce—though we do wish there was more sausage sprinkled on. And the crust’s crackery bite is so satisfying we don’t really care if it doesn’t have much flavor. photo credit: John Ringor Pepperoni Pizza Unlike the cevapi, the pretty standard pepperoni isn’t enough to make up for the otherwise plain pizza base. But it’s still tasty in a “It’s nice to be snacking on something while drinking a beer” way." - John Ringor
