The 17 Essential Restaurants in Columbia, Home of the University of Missouri

"One of many local breweries in Columbia, Logboat supplies beer to bars and restaurants across town, but the brand’s own location on Fay Street is the place to bring some food and relax with a crew of friends and family. The most popular drink is the Snapper IPA, but the menu is filled with unique brews in funky cans, seasonal offerings, and bottles of experimental mixed-culture fermentations." - Chloe Konrad

Google
Great brewery with a huge, multi-floor space. They have both in and outdoor seating. I appreciate the diverse options, including cider. So, if you're not a beer person, you have other choices.

Andrew M

Google
We recently stopped by this brewery during our road trip. While we were hoping for a food truck on-site, there wasn’t one the day we visited — but luckily, a few nearby takeout spots saved the day. The food was easy to grab and perfect for enjoying back at the brewery. Beer-wise, they have an excellent selection and the beers we ordered were very good.

Natasha Kelsey

Google
Great selection of brews! Loved the vibe there. Options of being inside or outdoors and you can bring your own food!

Rachel Wilcox

Google
Great beer! Male bartender was a bit rude. We spent over $75 in less than an hour there and he was in a hurry to close up shop. He wanted us out by 10 PM, not taking last calls before 10 PM. My husband asked him about the beers that won the medals at the great American beer festival, he said they don’t go back anymore because the staff doesn’t have time. We’re just thinking what an honor it is to win gold and too busy to attend?!?

Vanessa Martin

Google
I've been coming here since they opened. The staff are so kind and friendly and the space is amazing. The beer is perfect. I'll continue to be a customer till they take me to farm for my final days.

Cintia Schutt

Google
Fantastic big grassy area! And not to mention pet friendly, which is always always priority with me and I'm sure many other fellow beer drinkers. Great service great selection, no food but you can order in. I'm from Portland so my expectations were pretty high and Logboat did not disappoint

Google
The people at Logboat are the best! I suggested going to a brewery for part of my couple's engagement photos, so we reached out to Logboat to see if they'd be willing to let us photograph on their grounds. They were so accommodating and easy to work with, and their building makes for one hell of a backdrop. Not to mention, their beers are pretty amazing too! And don't sleep on that Turtle Power drink! This place is the best.

Google
Been a fan of their beers for years, finally able to visit the brewery. Newly updated, walking distance to DT Columbia, surrounded by loads of places to eat. Definitely will be back.

Yelp
I went to log boat with friends and had a great time. Definitely the type of place to get a few beers and chill. The crowd is more mature than a lot of spots in downtown Columbia from what I saw. It looks like a good place to bring dogs or kids. I had great service there from the bartenders. I got a Lei-a which is a lemon and strawberry flavored beer and The Turtle Power which is a cocktail with grapefruit, vodka, and snapper. Both were great and they had The Big Cheese food truck right outside so I had a grilled cheese too.

Yelp
Decided to stop in while driving through Columbia. Glad we stopped! It was a cute place. Inside area was a little cramped, but there is an outside area too. Parking is a little tight. My friend is not a beer drinker. She absolutely loved the pineapple cider. And at 6% ABV that is awesome. Very nice that they have that option. Friendly service.

Yelp
This is my most favorite place ever to spend a beautiful day. The best beer in Columbia!!! My favorite is Snapper or their double IPA called Mornin Hoot. Giraffe is seasonal, but also really good - it's a tropical mango ale. They don't have food, so it might be a good idea to bring snacks. They have a big grass area out front you can bring lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on outside. They have a few benches, but if it's a nice day out & it's busy they are usually taken. Love this place so much, it's one of the best spots in como!!!!
google avatar

Yelp
One of the best spots in Columbia, hands down. Great beer, great atmosphere. Huge lawn out front to play games. Food across the street. What else could you need? Something for everyone here. This opened up shortly before I graduated college, my only complaint is that they didn't have it around back then because it's the bomb.
google avatar

Yelp
Long time customer and the brewery just keeps adapting and evolving and getting better all the time. Renovations are super nice and having the additional space is so cool! Food trucks are often available so all everything food and drink-wise is in one spot!

Yelp
Longboat is one of my local favs, if not the best brewery in town (sorry others!!)! Longboat has everything a brewery needs. They've got the gorgeous patio, picnic tables, large well-kept grass lawn for families and pups to sprawl around in. They have great seating options indoor as well near the bar or upstairs overlooking the brewing operations. Their space meets water-theme is awesome, and unlike any other in the state. The specialized plastic cups they had for the summer drafts were awesome, however a little thin for such big pours!! Cool thing I saw last year when COVID was rampant, was there "brew-thru". They had cars lined down the streets waiting for a growler of choice to get them by! Love the innovation. I'm a sucker for their ginger pale ale, but don't shy from any of their other options! Hubby and I will surely be back soon!

Asenath N.

Yelp
The atmosphere was nice. They have great beer selections. Is great for groups as well. They have plenty of seating inside and outside. We plan to come back when the weather gets nice for outdoor seating.

Yelp
Visiting from Chicago we were first timers at Logboat. Service from the bar was excellent. We only tried a few beers, all good. Took home some Snapper and the Neon Blonde.
google avatar

Yelp
I mean...what a classic Columbia brewery. And by classic, I mean only. It's really the only good brewery in Columbia. Lots of room to sit indoors and outdoors, great and reasonably priced beers on tap, and they always decorate for the holidays. Bring your pup and blanket and hang out for a few hours! They usually have food trucks parked up front or you can bring your own food. Bathrooms are clean (hidden gem of bathroom upstairs that never has a wait). Parking can be tough, but there's another lot across the street and there is street parking.
google avatar

Caton J.

Yelp
The beer is phenomenal. The brewery location is in a very nice spot in Columbia with an open patio with yard, small downstairs bar and additional seating up top. A must go for sure, if for nothing other than Bobber on tap.
google avatar

Sebastian C.

Yelp
If you're in a COMO area and love breweries this is the place to go. Absolutely a happening place with Stellar service and beer. Even made a couple local friends there! You must go!
google avatar

Anne A.

Yelp
Bar staff and beers were awesome! We went on a Friday night and it was extremely difficult to have conversations due to the noise level. The staff was was super attentive and seemed to always be moving. The tables were clean of glasses and they were very efficient.

Yelp
If you are heading to Columbia, or even if you're within 100 miles, you have to plan a visit to the LogBoat Brewing Company. A pretty cool building to house brewing operations and the public, the place also has an awesome outdoor patio, perfect for warm days and bringing your pets to enjoy some quality owner-companion time. Although the place itself is a great venue, the undisputed star of this show is their product. With staples like the Bobber Lager, Snapper IPA and Lookout Pale Ale they have some great seasonals and boutique offerings. We relished the Pineapple Snapper (NOTE: don't be fooled, this is NOT a fruity beer...it only has hints of pineapple at the end) and the Flybye Farmhouse Ale. While they dont have food (you can bring your own or they often have a guest /featured chef/restaurant on hand with some tastings. As shared, you wont wasn't to miss this treat if you're in or near COMO.

Yelp
The beers I tried here were solidly good. I especially liked the bock. We visited in June and sat out on the large lawn watching the fireflies and it was lovely.

Carl H.

Yelp
Great place to have events. Great snapper beer. Not enough parking so only 4 stars. But definitely will go again.

Yelp
Great local brewery in Columbia. Good local beer with a great selection. The outside seating and atmosphere is great. The crowd is well rounded and spans across all ages.

Belida U.

Yelp
Interacted with one of their reps while shopping. When I told him I didn't drink he immediately became condescending and rude. In front of my friend! Is it really punishable offence to belong to a religion that requires you not to drink? Is it bad if you avoid it for health reasons? Or just don't want to. Logboat brewing doesn't understand live and let live, or courtesy and respect.

Scott E.

Yelp
Terrific! And dog friendly with plenty of space ( lush Green grass ) Cheers ! They have a great happy vibe. Excellent beer and two welcome sights. 1 humane society had an adoption tent with sample dogs 2 a yummy pizza bakery outdoors Go here

Yelp
I'd never been to this place before this Saturday but had always heard great things about it. It was a beautiful day yesterday (70's and sunny) so my fiancé and I met up with some friends for a beer. Awesome beer!! I had the Jupiter's Moon, a medium bodied amber ale, which was great! Also got to try the Snapper, Lookout Pale Ale and the Belgian Blonde. The Bear Hair Belgian Blonde was by far my favorite, a smoother beer with a hint of banana aromas and had a similar flavor and style as a German Hefeweizen beer. It was really packed the whole time we were there! Everyone and their mothers on the lawn. Trying to get a drink at the bar inside was a bit of a nightmare. Bless the bartenders for their patience with everyone fighting to get their order in. Totally felt like I was in college again shimmying my way to the front of the bar to get a beer. Not so much my scene anymore so that was a bit more than I wanted to deal with. Best to grab a couple while you're up there so your whole group doesn't have to go in solo for their drink. It was Mom's weekend at Mizzou we had later found out which may have brought in more of a college crowd this weekend so I'll have to go back on a regular day to get the full effect. Overall a pretty classy brewery/outdoor venue. I did notice that as it got later in the day, the crowd was more post grads, some college students and young families. Lovely place to spend an afternoon with some friends but prepare yourself for the crowds for sure. I had a good time!

Yelp
Really liked this place all around! The actual building and outside are a perfect brewery feel in my opinion. The day we went it was beautiful out, so we got to enjoy the outside. They have grass area so you could bring a blanket etc and sit out there, or they have plenty of tables to sit outside too. And then inside, they had the garage doors open, so it had a perfect breezy feel to it. And then the beers are great! Awesome price for a flight, and it's really fun to try different kinds. Love their re-usable cups (we are from out of town or I would have gotten one). And they had great service too!
google avatar

Trevor M.

Yelp
Love the vibe here. It's always packed, full of energy, and the beers are delicious. Typically a food truck or two outside with tasty treats. They've got a tent set up currently with space heaters to provide extra space outside on days when the temps aren't too extreme. Huge fan of the blonde ale - it reminds me of the ales in Germany and Belgium.
google avatar

Yelp
Good beer, nice space, friendly and generous servers... There is a nice variety of craft beers to choose from. I really liked the Hawkling Pale and the coffee stout. But you've got no food! Please sell snacks, at least! I know you have food trucks at some hours, and that a kitchen may be too big an undertaking. But I swear I woulda stayed longer and drunk more beer if you'd had some bags of chips or that sort of thing.

Yelp
Beer, boats, bingo, bocce ball! Just a few things you can find at Logboat. Granted, the boat is a canoe built into the ground, but nonetheless this place exceeded my already high expectations. First, the beer is done right and the beer names rock. I immediately loved the Shiphead ginger beer, which is just the right balance of ginger flavor. The Mamoot mild ale is a darker beer that doesn't taste too heavy, which is perfect for my tastes. The Bobber lager is easy to drink, and the Lookout APA is yummy and not too hoppy. I have yet to try an option I don't like. Next, the atmosphere is one of a kind. The decor inside consists of a lot of wood, beams and some awesome paintings matching their beer cans. You'll also find a few interesting decor choices that I'll let you discover in your own. It is the outside that really rocks, however. The shipyard, as it's called, is a huge grassy area with a few tables, a bocce ball court and other outdoor games. Pets are welcome, you can bring blankets and chairs, and bringing your own food is encouraged (both outside and inside). Speaking of food, Logboat doesn't have a kitchen. They do bring in food from vendors a few days a week, such as tacos, which is something to check out on their website before you go. There always seems to be something going on at Logboat, which adds to the fun of it all. Weekly bingo, live music and charity events are just a few I've seen. After multiple trips here, the atmosphere and beer have really grown on me. It's the perfect spot for beer lovers of all kinds.

Yelp
Grab some beers to go,, along with their kleen canteen cup and a t-shirt. Wish I could have stayed to enjoy the outdoor space, it looked great. Definitely recommend checking this place out if you're in Columbia. I brought beer back to Northern California for my husband and he loved it.

Yelp
I love logboat brewery! I recently moved to Columbia from Sacramento. The beer scene there is so amazing and I was sad to leave it. I first discovered snapper ipa from the grocery store and found it is by far my favorite IPA. I was thrilled to discover it was local! I was not disappointed when I went into the brewery to try a fresh snapper on tap. The whole place took me back to Sacramento with the large outdoor area for games and the comfortable indoor seating area made me fell right at home. Molly has been our bartender each of our visit and she is outstanding! She is friendly, super helpful when asking for advice on new beers to try and even remembered us from our previous visits I highly recommended Logboat brewery for delicious beer, a fun and chill place to hang out and warm and welcoming staff.

Yelp
Beautiful bar and interior. Not to mention, the exterior! This just a phenomenal looking building with the wood and metal combination. Also, the Shipyard. They have huge outdoor area for drinking, bocce ball, cornhole, frisbee, all sorts of stuff. It's fantastic! Fun bartenders and fun group of people here when I went. I love their logo and the feel of the place. I ordered a flight of all their beers and they had some really great ones. They also had several nitro beers on tap which is great event though I'm not a fan of nitros. They had some different styles of beer you don't see often, and in my opinion, were their best ones. The ginger wheat was great, the mamoot wild ale was good, they had another awesome pale wheat ale. They look like the kind of place that always comes up with new brews so I would love to come back here some time. Also I got scared by the Sasquatch.

Yelp
I was recently in Columbia and attended a private event in the upstairs area of Logboat Brewing Company. It was below freezing, but an NFL playoff game was on which meant families and friends had met up to enjoy some company and beers! We were given two drink tickets, so I chose the Mamoot British Mild and the Shiphead Ginger Wheat - both were easy drinkers packed full of flavor. I really enjoyed them, and I think they're perfect choices for beer lovers (like I am) or those intimidated by hoppier varieties who just want to experience well-crafted, mild brews. Granted the place wasn't very full, but the service was quick, and the bartenders were very friendly. The interior was clean with lots of wood accents and seating - perfect for groups both large and small. I will definitely be back the next time I'm in the area!

Yelp
Grab yourself a paddle! I made a last minute trip to Columbia a week ago, and I hadn't tried much of C-MO's blossoming craft beer scene. Logboat was started to appear in Saint Louis, and for the most part, their stuff was pretty good. It was time to go to the source! The brewery is pretty close to downtown, but just a little off the main drag. My AirBNB host was running late, so I had to find something to do. Since LBC wasn't part of the downtown area, I made them my first stop. The setup is pretty conventional for a brewery/pub. However, they have a huge patio and outside area for warmer weather, which would be great for college students to enjoy after a long week of classes. Once inside, they have a bar with all the beers on tap, and through the windows behind the bar, you can see the inner workings of the brewery. The bartender was very friendly. I asked for a flight so that I could try as much as I could. They had all the staples: Mamoot British Mild, Lookout American Pale, Snapper IPA, and Shiphead Ginger Wheat. Some of the seasonals were Jerk Alert Double IPA, Haller-Tang Pale, and Snapper with Pineapple. Altogether, the beer is solid. There's not one that I don't like. I don't tend to enjoy wheats or ginger beers, but Shiphead is quite good. Mamoot is probably my favorite, but it's rare that I don't enjoy a British session. I'm not as big on the Snapper, but I was a huge fan of the pineapple variance. Like I said, everything is pretty darn good. You can find Logboat's beer in cans and taps around The Lou, but if you're C-MO, a trip to the brewery is a must for craft beer lovers!

Yelp
This was a fun spot on a Thursday afternoon while visiting town. I'm sure it's even more so on the weekends! They have a nice variety of beers for just $5/ea. I tried the cider and the saison and liked both. They have several board games inside, so I'm sure it'd be easy to sped several hours here. They don't have a kitchen but frequently have food trucks parked outside. Very cool to have a place like this in Columbia!
google avatar

Gayle V.

Yelp
Great place. First impressions are important. Molly, our server, was the best. She was very friendly, made us feel welcome, and gave us local tips. We highly recommend Logboat!!
google avatar

Shawnee B.

Yelp
One of my favorite things (as a female) about logboat... hands down.... the new toilet paper holders As a regular human, I can't get over the Snapper IPA and the cozy, woodsy feeling atmosphere. Also, there's yoga in the park sometimes. So that's cool too if you wanna get your zen on. PS- ...AND THEY HAVE CHRISTMAS LIGHTS

Rene H.

Yelp
I attended a great small event in the upstairs area that we rented. The main thing I would suggest is playing the music quieter so we could chat. There was ample seating. It also would have been better if there were round tables utilized so we could mingle better instead of long ones. There were big windows that we could open which is important to have during a pandemic. It was a great opportunity to trial different beverages.

Yelp
My sister lives in Columbia and I try to come and see her as much as I can. I live in Denver, and work in the craft beer business so visiting new breweries is always a destination thing for me. My sister thought I would really enjoy this brewery, and she was right! We came here on a Tuesday evening around 8. There was no parking in the main lot when we got there but we quickly found parking in the overflow lot right across the way. The outside area was HUGE! There are not too many tables for how big the space is, but we were lucky to find one. We started with a flight of a few of their different beers which were the year-round varieties. I really enjoyed the Shiphead Ginger Wheat. We decided to get a Shandy made with this beer after the flight and it was delicious! I see this being a stop for us when I come back to Columbia to visit family!
google avatar

Yelp
Stopped in for a couple of brews yesterday while in town visiting a friend. The bartenders were super friendly and chatty about the beers and also some local events. They gave us little pours of a few of their recommendations to try, and we each settled on a pint. They have a nice variety to suit your mood, and a really nice, cozy bar area with games to play. There's also a large outdoor seating area, which had a food truck set up. There was also a bags game and some shady spots under the trees. The outdoor area is very dog friendly. Really enjoyed our stop here.

SoCo S.

Yelp
Traveling across Missouri. I have had Logboat Beers and enjoy them. Thought we'd stop at the brewery. Wanted to know if they had food or not. Called multiple times and got a busy signal over and over. Finally got through only to have a recording state that they they don't answer the phone and that you should email questions. Ridiculous. Can't really email while driving nor get a quick answer. No food, but a food truck pulled up. I asked the bartender when they would start serving and he said he didn't know because he didn't even know it were going to be there. The beer was good, but getting to the bar is difficult as the stools are jammed together. It was very loud. Beer alone rates 4 stars but the phone issue and poor service drops it another star.

Yelp
Neat place to stopp in the middle of missouri. The food was real good. Service was excellent and the beer was cold

Yelp
Cool tasting room. Nice place to hang out and try some really good craft beers. Will definitely come back again.

Yelp
Who would have thought that one of the best bars would be in Columbia Missouri. They serve a fantastic selection of brewed beers, some local whiskey and wonderful mixed drinks (try the Turtle!). Our personal beer favorite was the Snapper (with Shiphead and Mamoot a tied second). On your first trip in, I would suggest trying a flight so you can pick your particular favorite. This brewery is so well thought out. It is beautiful inside with the wooden beams and great artwork on the walls. The glass windows showing in to where they brew is a great add to the atmosphere and fun to see. A really nice touch is in the ladies bathroom, each stall has a shelf for your drink and each sink also has a shelf (no worrying about leaving your drink unattended!). The outside of this brewery is also well thought out. There is bocci ball, corn hole game, and croquet courts. Plenty of room for kids and dogs to play while enjoying a cold adult beverage. While the brewery doesn't serve food, they do have food trucks outside on occasion. We have tried both the Biscuit truck and Taco Tuesday's (YUMM to both!). I highly recommend multiple trips to Logboat, many great drinks to try and a very, very fun atmosphere. (Due to the popularity of their beer, it can now also be purchased at the grocery stores in the area. It is canned on site at Logboat.)
google avatar

Bowen L.

Yelp
Been here a couple times. Always great beer and a great time. This review however is about the female bartender with beautiful dreadlocks. While I enjoyed my snapper I could not keep myself from staring at those flowing glistening locks. They were one of a kind. As the bartender engaged me in conversation it became almost impossible for me to restrain myself from touching these locks. Imagine a bunch of puppies tied to a string. How could you not want to touch that? I finally gathered the courage to ask her. And she said yes!!! Best day of my life. Cheers to you gorgeous lock bartender! Highly recommend. Come for the beer and stay for the locks.
google avatar

Jill H.

Yelp
A great addition to Columbia! Getting a flight is the way to go so you can sample even more. We went during a cold day, so it was a little tight inside. But on a nice day, the outdoor space would be perfect. They've got a good variety of beers, including a bunch of seasonal rotating options. Look forward to the next time I can come back!
google avatar

Andy S.

Yelp
Okay place. Beer is average. There just isn't a lot of breweries in Missouri (especially mid-Missouri) so there is no competition or knowledge sharing to elevate the craft yet. The jerk DIPA was overly boozy and lacked a real finish. The Amarillo by Morning was above average. Flat Branch was better.
google avatar

Tim K.

Yelp
My son, girlfriend and I visited log boat April 2nd late at night after we had our dinner in Columbia Missouri and we were absolutely Blown Away with fantastic service and great conversation from the two bartenders. I would highly recommend visiting this place in the near future and I hope to make it up there again soon for their second birthday anniversary it is supposed to be a blast

Yelp
Lively, crowded place that anyone can enjoy with inside and outside spaces and plenty of beer.

Yelp
Hands down my favorite bar/brewery/hangout spot in town. The beer and cocktails are consistently great, as is the service. With a wood stove in the cozy bar, cool art on the walls, and what I consider to be ideal bar lighting, this place rules in the chilly months. When the weather is warm, there is a massive fenced in yard with picnic tables and yard games. Bonus points for ample parking for cars and bicycles! Double bonus points for having nice, clean bathrooms.
google avatar

Kevin M.

Yelp
This is the kind of brewery taproom every town needs. Food trucks and local favs brought in. Fantastic beers on tap, and a crazy mixed raddler that is really good, and REALLY strong. The outside park is great for social gatherings or just relaxing and having a beer. They have wifi, and a TV if you want to watch something, or download some podcasts over beers.
google avatar

Benjamin H.

Yelp
Had a pretty good time. Was a bit different with the Kids and Pets being allowed and I'm not a huge fan of craft beer. However they did have Makers Mark so that was good with me. Didn't hang for long, it was loud and difficult to get the attention of the bartender.
google avatar

Jem D.

Yelp
Very impressed by the two beers I tried: Mammut and Shiphead. Didn't think I'd like the latter one, either, but was pleasantly surprised. Mammut was my favorite. Pretty sure I could drink that one on and on. But I can't/won't...only here for work. But I will tell the tale of tasty craft beer in Columbia, MO to all of my friends back out east.
google avatar

Emily K.

Yelp
Logboat is one of my favorite stops when visiting friends in Columbia! The atmosphere is awesome- everyone is chill, friendly, and there for a good time. Come hang out in the Shipyard, play some games, and drink some good beer!

Yelp
A true gem in Columbia. Delicious beer in a very inviting atmosphere.
