Le Pavillon Bleu

"A "guinguette" atmosphere pervades this 1903 building on the bank of the Loiret, where you can sit on the terrace in the shade of old plane trees, right by the water's edge. Fun fact: the dining area is actually an old boathouse. As for the food, the techniques are deft and the seasonings balanced, making for tasty dishes." - Michelin Inspector

I had a wonderful dining experience at this riverfront restaurant. The serene ambiance added to the peaceful setting, making the meal even more enjoyable. The food was truly exquisite, bursting with delightful flavors and an impeccable texture. The attentive service provided added to the perfection of the evening. Highly recommended!

We slept there for two nights and didn't get to try the restaurant (which looks really nice according to the reviews). The experience was okay: - River view: 😐 our room (4) was facing the parking, not really the advertised view on the website; I understand all rooms cannot be on the same side, but when booking online one has some expectations when seeing the advertisement - Room: 😐 the room (4) itself was clean and a bit rustic (that's okay) but had a few things that could be improved. There were multiple small things that made the experience less pleasant: the toilet flush didn't work well and needed multiple flushes multiple times; there are few electrical plugs, those by the bed are used for the lamps, among the two others, one was under the table and didn't work. The doors This is an old building, so this is pretty badly insulated in terms of noise: the main doors are quite noisy. The doors inside the bedroom can't be closed (they don't work properly anymore) which is a problem for the bathroom/toilets. - 🪳: we found a running baby cockroach in the bed. This can happen, we didn't see any others in the room but I had to mention it. - Breakfast: 😒 it was disappointing. I would have expected a buffet for a 3 star hotel, but that was just a pre-filled basket identical for everybody. Not up to the quality of the restaurant one could expect. Also, it was served in the hall close to the hotel's entry door, whereas they could serve it outside next to the river.

We had a delightful stay here in this characterful and elegant hotel. The food was outstanding as was the wine. We found the atmosphere relaxed and everyone was helpful and friendly. Beautiful spot near the river.

Nice hotel. Our room was clean and very spacious. Our bathroom had been upgraded, was modern and nicely tiled. Very comfortable bed. Evening meal was really good. Exceptionally good - I ate too much.! Very high standard of cooking and despite only having a few rooms the dining room was packed with locals so that says it all. The setting at the riverside in the afternoon with the sun on the banks of the Loiret make it a wonderful place to rest. Would definitely stay here again.

2nd time we've had lunch here and I must say the 2nd time was better than the first (which was around 3 years ago). Artfully presented dishes match the nicely minimalist decorated interior of the restaurant. Service was good too! The menu was well thought-of. And the location is perfect for an After-lunch stroll by the river.

I liked this hotel, it's a small logis with only five rooms and really does have that personal touch. Our room was spacious, clean and the beds were comfortable. It's not a modern hotel, probably more suited to a relaxing break than those on business. The riverside situation adds to the relaxed feel of the place. ||The restaurant is worth trying, we found the food to be of a high standard and priced correctly.||There is a bus or nearby tram if you want to go into Orleans - turn right out of the hotel, and walk to the roundabout (bus) or shopping centre (tram). ||My only criticism is that the breakfast could have come with better bread and was a bit sparse if you don't like pastries.||Be warned that the hotel does not open until 1700 hours in the afternoon!

The only reason I have given this such a good rating is based purely on the restaurant, it is truly excellent, although very expensive.||Be warned; annoyingly I didn't notice that check-in was from 5pm although it was stated on the information. I will read more carefully in future!. We arrived at 3.30pm and not a soul around. Had to kill an hour and a half. All rooms are on the first floor and there is no lift. Access is via a very badly lit, twisty old staircase, so quite a challenge helping my 83y/o Father up and down the stairs. The rooms were a generous size but quite cold. Bathroom's basic and functional, if a little tired. A kettle was provided, which is unusual in France but I had to fill it from the bath because of the stupid shallow sink and then plug it in on the floor because there were no suitable sockets. Had to unplug a lamp to use my laptop at the desk too. So few hotels seem to think about the number and/or placement of sockets for the modern traveller. ||Bed was comfy and there were welcome spare blankets provided. Where the hotel redeemed itself was dinner. Lovely dining room, excellent service and fabulous food, although it was very expensive. Despite the faults, I actually would stay again, just because we had such a lovely meal and the rooms were acceptable. Although I couldn't take my Father again, those stairs are a nightmare (and did I mention dark?!)

The service was poor from the start, whether it was the lack of a welcome, trying to have drinks before dinner or being offered a table at the back of the court yard, away from the water front. I only wanted a comfortable overnight and a relaxing drink/meal on route between the Med and Calais. Why pay a waterfront premium to sit in a corner with an obscured view!||I am surprised they are able to get a away with poor service, Perhaps they are just more interested in their French customers using the restaurant. ||By contrast the room (6) was modern and clean. ||There are plenty of alternatives in this area who welcome British customers.
