"This modern Relais, looking out onto the surrounding meadows, is anchored in local culinary traditions. The chef is passionate about fine ingredients and showcases regional producers (Charlieu andouille, Charolais meat, cheese etc) in contemporary, hearty dishes. Pleasant guestrooms for an overnight stay." - Michelin Inspector

We stayed at this hotel en route back to England. We had only planned to stay for one night, but extended our stay to two.|The hotel is modern and conveniently located within 5 minutes walk of the charming little town of Charlieu. It is close to a main road, but set back with a large car park and traffic noise was not a problem .|We had the cheapest room (98 Euros). It was small but nicely presented, with a good bathroom. The entire hotel was very clean and staff were very polite and helpful.|The high point for us was the restaurant. Breakfast was expensive, so we gave it a miss. However the 3 course evening meal at 37 Euros per person was excellent- which explains why they have a Michelin bib award.|We would happily stay there again just for the restaurant.

We had the good fortune to stay at this hotel one night whilst travelling South. It has style and ambience. The bedroom was comfortable, well furnished and spotlessly clean, the en-suite, modern, .Breakfast was most comprehensive with choice of meats, cheese, various fruits, porridge yoghourts and indeed, all that quality hotels offer at expensive prices, plus copious cups of good coffee! The staff were v friendly , courteous and efficient. This hotel was truly, such good value for the money. We recommend it very highly!

Relais de l'Abbaye has to be one of the best places we have stayed in! We arrived to a good car park, then into a very pleasant reception area, to be greeted by friendly staff then to an immaculate room... our room was very comfortable and invitingly clean with a spotless bathroom, white fluffy towels and must be 10/10 for cleanliness and comfort||Dinner was superb as was the service, brilliant menu and wine list...again 10/10||Breakfast, was the best we have found in France over the last 10 years! a great selection of pastries, fruit, yoghurt's, cheese and charcuterie, even the most amazing smoked salmon..10/10 again||We will most definitely return to this super hotel in the future and would recommend it to anyone looking to stay in this area

We had a small room which was rated a premium room but this was probably because it had a terrace to sit on. The best thing about this hotel was the food - excellent standard of dinner with views from the outside dining area across the fields to Charlieu. Comprehensive buffet breakfast.

Can only speak to lunch market menu served on Wednesdays. The six of us choose one of each of the three starters, two different mains and two different desserts and fromage blanc. Everything was excellent. Additionally, our two wine selections, wines we didn't know of previously, where very good, and good value. For 20€ hard to go wrong.
