The 38 Best Restaurants in Omaha, Nebraska | Eater

"Salad doesn’t get discussed much in a town so focused on meat, but the kale salad at Lola’s is and should be a draw; it’s studded with spiced almonds and raw jalapenos, and dashed with a lemon-forward Caesar dressing. Though Lola’s is located inside a locally owned movie theater, it draws a crowd of its own for a brunch of eggs, great pastries, and tasty coffee, and there’s a remarkably good roast chicken in the evening." - Sarah Baker Hansen

Loved stopping in here for a quiet brunch! The staff was very polite and I could keep to myself, even sitting at the bar. They made my latte perfectly, making it warm but not so hot it burns your tongue when I asked. Very lovely spot, totally coming back with my husband for a coffee date next time we're in town! Also, the Rye Brownie was delicious and I'm so glad I tried the samples that were out at the counter! Thanks Lola's!!

Lola’s Cafe has a beautiful aesthetic. I really loved the atmosphere and all the plants. The space feels cozy, inviting, and thoughtfully decorated. Unfortunately, the food and service did not match the setting. The dishes we tried lacked flavor and quality, and the service felt inattentive and unwelcoming. It’s such a shame because the café itself is lovely, but the experience left me disappointed. If you’re stopping in just to enjoy the vibe and design, it’s worth a quick visit. But if you’re looking for good food and friendly service, there are plenty of better options in town.

Google
This place is always a favorite when meeting with clients and friends, with its peaceful yet cheer filled atmosphere and its healthy, creative menu it is a must try for all. The Toastie with ooey gooie eggs and the most delicious bread is a must for breakfast. Also make sure to try whatever seasonal pastries they have… they are all so delicious. 🩷 And don’t forget the coffee. Their black coffee is just perfect but friends and clients have said their other coffee selections are amazing as well. Love this place so much, the service, food and atmosphere consistency can always be counted on.

Google
Lola’s was great! Went for a bachelorette brunch and they were very accommodating for our large group. I didn’t get coffee but everyone said it was great. I did get a Bloody Mary which was fantastic! Not too spicy. The sourdough pancakes are a must try - perfect as an appetizer! Entree was great too. Will be back!

Google
A lovely spot with healthy and delicious food and coffee! I stopped in early in the morning on a roadtrip and the vibe was quiet and welcoming and got chatty and bright as the place filled up. Friendly, helpful staff and the food was so good! The prices aren’t cheap, but taste and quality were on point. I had a sourdough scone and toastie and was surprised by how good both were. I’ll definitely stop in next time I come through Omaha!

Google
Lola’s in Omaha is an absolute gem! The establishment impressed me with its attentive and polite staff, who create a cozy and welcoming atmosphere from the very first moments. The wide variety of dishes and the availability of in-house baked goods are definite highlights! For breakfast, I chose the shakshuka, and it was simply outstanding! So delicious, perfectly cooked, and very satisfying. My husband opted for the Toastie and was equally delighted. I must also mention the baked goods – the variety is truly impressive. The only downside was the coffee. Mine had a collapsed foam, which I refer to as “dead coffee.” It was a bit disappointing, considering everything else was top-notch. Overall, Lola’s is a place you’ll want to return to for its delicious breakfasts and inviting atmosphere!

Google
Stopped in for brunch and ordered the toast (organic eggs, prosciutto, parma ham) and the brioche french toast - both were rich and fresh. Also loved the scones =) The place is clean and cozy, with a casual crowd and natural light from the tall windows. The staff was friendly - not too chatty, just welcoming.

Google
Stopped at Lola’s while in the Dundee area, and we were not disappointed! We started off with an iced vanilla latte and hot mocha latte, both were wonderful! For food we got a chocolate knot pastry and the french toast. Chocolate knot was warm and delicious! The french toast was covered in a fruity puree that had the most perfect flavor! Atmosphere was so cozy and filled with greenery! Staff was so sweet and inviting! 10/10 experience!!

Yelp
Great place for a lunch meeting or a brunch date. The coffee is great and the sourdough pancakes are delicious. the sandwiches are fine as well but nothing crazy. Service is relatively fast since usually it is pretty busy. Also they are dog friendly with a patio

Yelp
I was hoping for Lola's delicious tomato soup that I'd had at the Illuminarium's Fig Cafe, but this day's soup was a white bean and pepper. It was delicious, not a thick soup, with plenty of beans and flavor, but not quite at the level of the tomato, alas. That said, I'd order it again. It came with a slice of foccacia that was quite yummy. And along with the soup we had prosciutto sandwiches. The interior makings, delicious. The baguette, again, a disappointment compared to Fig, which is weird since this location is the source for Fig. Flavor -- delicious, but what im guessing is what they call "chew" on British Bake-off, was beyond the pale -- really a battle to bite, though tasty once you got it torn free. And again, I could've eaten their bread all day at the Illuminarium, but this day at Lola's, it was too much of a workout. Our group had some dietary concerns, but signage and helpful staff made us feel heard and "safe," which is a big plus. I'm anxious to try it again, hoping for the best!

Yelp
Found our way in- 1st I can say the ambiance is lovely and very girl forward with is welcoming design and atmosphere, the service was very prompt, knowledgeable and delightful. However- the hot vanilla latte was tasty yet lukewarm- the sourdough doughnut was nice, the curry chicken completely missed. Bread with barely any curry chicken. I'd try it again to see if I could get a "hot" vanilla latte. And it is a lovely place.
google avatar

Payton W.

Yelp
Grabbed lunch here for the first time and wow! Tried the Speck and chips. SO GOOD! I also tried a vanilla latte which was also very good. Warning - this place gets busy and the seating is tight. The staff weren't the nicest but I also don't entirely blame them for how busy it was. Will be back!
google avatar

Makenzie L.

Yelp
Been driving by this place for YEARS dying to try it as it appears aesthetic on the outside and is always brimming with people. When you walk in you're taken to an open and inviting experience of high taste. The menu was simple yet introducing everything sounded delicious. But to besides the frills i'll cut to the chase the QUALITY you are fine ordering anything because whatever you get will be top tier and well thought out. I will be back to work thru the menu!!
google avatar

Sarah P.

Yelp
We tried Lola's brunch for the first time and had a delightful time. The waitstaff were all kind and attentive, even though we were sitting on the patio outside. The food was delicious and the pastries were a lovely little treat. This is a great place to go for a weekend breakfast/brunch!
google avatar

Jess N.

Yelp
Service was great - really friendly! The location was a good spot in the Dundee area and there was also a theatre located inside! The focaccia bread was tasty and soft, but imo the toastie was good but felt like it was missing something. My partner got the simple egg and toast and the eggs were over cooked to his liking. Interior was beautiful with all the plants and felt very lively inside and busy. They ran out of the Shashuka when we were there, but definitely would want to come back and try that!

Yelp
Whether you are looking for a good work/study space, or a charming space to meet friends over a meal and coffee, Lola's is your place! I could literally spend all day, everyday at Lola's! They have everything I could possibly need from the perfect latte, a light, yummy breakfast, homemade sourdough bread that pairs perfectly with their soups and salad, and a fantastic wine and cocktail selection. The space is filled with natural light from the many windows, and plants are scattered all around which makes it a great place to go if you are wanting to get some creative juice flowing. You walk in and can feel the buzzing, yet relaxed energy that all great cafes have. Their bartenders and servers are attentive and offer great suggestions for people who are indecisive like me. Last time I went I got a chai latte that was perfectly spicy and sweet with a kale salad, hearty lentil soup, and the MOST delectable gf butternut pistachio bundt cake for dessert- the perfect midday spot to meet for lunch with a friend! If you are looking for a cafe that is bright and full of energy with amazing food, go to Lola's!

Yelp
Lola's is a wonderful spot to visit! They are my go to for Sunday brunch. Typically we can get in pretty quick when we visit before 10 am which is a huge perk. I love their homemade pastries and baked goods! My wife and I always have to try a new one to split each time we go. I really enjoy their chocolate knots and chocolate chip cookies. When it comes to brunch, their sandwiches really stand out. I always get the Toastie. This is a sandwich with scrambled egg, prosciutto, and parmesan cheese on their house made focaccia bread. I have had this sandwich at least a dozen times and each time it is just as good as I remember it. All of the ingredients are so fresh and perfectly balanced. The service is very good! I have never had a less than stellar experience.
google avatar

Madison K.

Yelp
This is such a cute spot to work during the day or meet up with a couple of friends. It's so bright and cute in here it's definitely somewhere you want to stay a bit. I wasn't super impressed with the food. I had the Speck and the Cauliflower soup. Both were just fine they weren't bad but I don't think I would want to eat either of them again. I feel the sandwich needed something it just fell a little flat for me. I think it was a little overpriced for what it is. I do appreciate that everything seemed really fresh and I didn't feel terrible after eating it.

Mary D.

Yelp
Ambience was wonderful. Food was perfectly prepared. Loved the tator tots. I would eat there again.
google avatar

Maddie E.

Yelp
I love that I can get in without a wait for Sunday brunch! Their sandwiches are delicious and made with fresh baked focaccia bread. I got the speck sandwich with prosciutto, mozzarella and greens. So good and well balanced. I also shared a chocolate knot that is similar to a sourdough cinnamon roll but, with chocolate. I have not had a bad meal or experience at Lola's and would not expect to in the future!
google avatar

Yelp
Made reservations here for a birthday brunch on a Saturday and had a lovely meal and experience. I so appreciate that you can make brunch reservations, because there's nothing worse than getting hangry while waiting for open seating at brunch spots. I ordered the toastie and an iced vanilla latte. The sandwich was amazing; my only note (and my friends agreed) that it was pretty salty with the focaccia and prosciutto. I thought the addition of a green would've made it absolutely perfect, but I still really enjoyed it. Our waitress recommended hot sauce on the side, which was the cherry on top! My latte was also great, which wasn't surprising for being at a cafe. Lola's is a really cool spot; it's bright and welcoming but still slightly upscale. It's also attached to a local indie movie theater, making it a true one stop shop. Whether you're in the mood for a quick coffee or study session, a nice sit down meal, or grabbing a bite before a film, they have you covered! There is also a parking lot behind the building, which alleviates some of the stress of parking in Dundee.

Yelp
Stopped here for a book club brunch meeting. We were able to make a reservation prior which was nice. However after checking in (a few min late), they seemed unprepared for our party and had us step to the side to wait. No big deal. However we sat down & received cups for water but no water because they were washing the carafes. To sum up the service everything was a bit... slow. We ordered and my food didn't come out with everyone else's, (again not a big deal, it happens) however when it was brought out it was incorrect. I got the curried sandwhich and it was wayyy too salty for my palate. The menus say $3 for extra side of soup/salad but this is actually $5 extra on my ticket which I was annoyed by. I did notice the food also upset my stomach afterwards. Overall food 1/5, ambiance 4/5, service 2/5. Would only come back here for coffee and pastries but would opt somewhere else for brunch.

Diane C.

Yelp
They have the best farm to table food Mediterranean style. Weekend brunch is especially wonderful. The waiters are kind and amazing. You can even see a movie next door. What's not to love?
google avatar

Kaitlin C.

Yelp
The service here is excellent! They are very busy during rush house so be prepared to wait and plan accordingly. Cold brew is delicious! Wowza. Every time I come back I am more impressed than the last. Lots of vegetarian friendly options. The daily soup really hit the spot for me with a butternut squash burrata sandwich on CHEWY cibata. Outdoor patio seating available
google avatar

Meera K.

Yelp
This place is a ray of sunshine with lots of plants, sunlight, and cozy coffee shops vibes. Menu is small but tasty. Foccacia is excellent.
google avatar

Amy N.

Yelp
Lola's is the cutest cafe--where plants and coffee come together! The natural lighting and aesthetic make it such a cozy, inviting space. I had the vanilla latte, which was absolutely delicious, and the prosciutto sandwich was fantastic. Coffee may be their staple, but there are many food offerings as well. It's the perfect spot for working or enjoying a peaceful morning.
google avatar

Travis G.

Yelp
Little busy, so a little noisy. But overall amazing experience. Excellent service and a fun twist on breakfast.
google avatar

Sterling G.

Yelp
This was a very cool place. The service was excellent. The food was very fresh and good. I will definitely be back!

Yelp
Tucked in a relaxing little nook right off of 50th and Dodge you'll find this absolute gem (with ample parking to boot). I had the pleasure of meeting a long-time friend there (and kudos to her for telling me about it!) to catch up and soak up some Euro vibes. The restaurant is owned by the same owner as @thekiewitluminarium's Fig cafe and shares space with Film Streams' Dundee. I left feeling healthy and refreshed after enjoying a simple yet satisfying quinoa salad with chickpeas, radish, parsley, and a house-made lemon dressing. My friend opted for her long-time favorite the halloumi salad (which is the same just topped with halloumi cheese to gave it a subtle salty kick). You don't have to go hungry. It's a perfect place to bring a computer and work away while enjoying a cup. Oh, and for all the breakfast lovers they serve it until 3pm. Check it out and you won't be disappointed.
google avatar

Divija G.

Yelp
Good food and drinks, friendly staff, and a lovely ambiance. A great spot to relax and enjoy a meal!
google avatar

Jordanna B.

Yelp
The cauliflower steak was flavorful and filling! The service was fast and friendly and ambiance is like hanging out with your best friends in a greenhouse. Loved it!

Maria M.

Yelp
The environment and staff are just amazing! This is such an aethetic and gorgeous place and location. However, I cannot say the same about the food. This was my second time here and I really wanted to give them the chance. The first time I got a sandwhich (Rosemary Ham), where the bread was brick hard. Anyways, though the mocha was really good, the frittatta and chocolate know were not. I also got a side of sausage (2 really small links) that cost $5... was not worth it sadly. The chocolate knot ($4.50) was stone cold. The flavor was there, I was just hoping that it would be warm, but it felt far from fresh. If it was fresh the price would have been a steal! The frittata also came with a side salad that was amazing! The frittata however was lacking flavor and tasted bland. My total came out to around $34 (I got another mocha, lol). It was not worth it and I have not been recommending this place for friends or family simply because of the food quality to price ratio. But...if you are looking for a quick spot to chill, grab a cup of coffee, and wait for a Film Streams event, then go for it.

Yelp
I love Lola's as a quick cafe stop but also for a full meal. They have one of the best lattes in Omaha and their bakery never fails me.
google avatar

Sarah G.

Yelp
Have I not reviewed Lola's yet?? Anyway, I love it. For breakfast sandwiches, lunch sandwiches... oh, I really love sandwiches. And they know how to do them RIGHT in all kinds of ways, at Lola's. Thanks friends!
google avatar

Li'Son H.

Yelp
This food is AMAZING all so uniquely crafted. Most of the ingredients I had not experienced. A great hidden secret in Omaha for sure. Location is clean and lots of natural lighting, wish live plants. Looking forward to coming back. Server did well.

Natalie H.

Yelp
Great service! Great atmosphere too! The food came out quick and was very tasty. My favorite part was definitely the decorations inside! It is the perfect place to go do some work or catch up with a friend. Definitely recommend!
google avatar

Linda N.

Yelp
Lola's is such an adorable place for brunch or coffee. It's be great for studying as well. You order at the counter and the menu isn't large but the food was still great. The coffee was quite good. The cinnamon roll was decent, but the sandwich was delicious! We got our order pretty quickly after we placed it. I would definitely come back to for the cute vibes.
google avatar

Alyssa B.

Yelp
I have had the toastie before which was fantastic. Tried the prosciutto sandwich today which I thought was going to be on chibatta but came on a hard baguette. There was one slice of very thin prosciutto and about 3 leaves of arugula. Definitely not worth the price of $11 plus tax. Wouldn't recommend that sandwich or at least you should check the to-go bag before you leave
google avatar

Hannah B.

Yelp
This place has a super cute vibe! They have plants hanging from the walls and it's really cozy inside with a ton of natural lighting. My friends and I used to come here every week for Sunday brunch. They have a selection of sandwiches and salads and fun drinks, but it is definitely not expensive. All of their food is fresh and everything I have had from their menu has been delicious. Their coffee is also very tasty! The staff is helpful and nice, but do be aware there are certain times of the day when you are not allowed to have your laptop out... I came here to work on some things one day and was told I needed to put my laptop away - I ended up leaving. The gal who told me was not super nice about it unfortunately... Overall, the space is cute and their food & coffee is marvelous!

Scott B.

Yelp
Food was not great, and not cheap. The bread on the Sandwich was very good but the rest had no taste. The place itself is very nice and clean. Person working the register was very nice. Can't say the same about the server (attitude). Our entire party felt the same way. Maybe the food was just too fancy for our taste. Will I go back, a solid maybe with a few normal sandwich additions.
google avatar

Audra K.

Yelp
Service was amazing. The French with fresh berry compote definitely hit the spot. My son's Indian eggs with toast was gone in about three minutes. Cute cool place definitely visit if you're in the area.
google avatar

Lisa X.

Yelp
Lovely place for brunch! Beautiful interior design, food is not only delicious but nourishing. I ordered shakshuka and loved it. It was savory, fresh and balanced. My partner ordered the sourdough pancakes, not too sweet and packed with blueberries! He also got a side of sausage which paired well with the pancakes

Judith S.

Yelp
Smooth and silky lattes are the highlight with a fresh savory taste food, including crispy and bubbly sourdough sandwiches. I had the frittata spinach quiche, and my husband the turkey sandwich. The overall deco is very modern and uplifting. Loved the plants placed throughout the indoor seating spaces. Friendliest of staff and patrons. We loved this place!l and there is a cute theatre next door.
google avatar

Olyvia K.

Yelp
I absolutely LOVE Lola's!!! I love how their bakery makes their own pastries in house (including their amazing sour dough complimentary bread for dinner). All food is made from scratch and they take their ingredients from farms to your table. You can definitely taste the quality and love put into each food item you order. The sweet potato matcha is absolutely incredible. I am not a big fan of sweet potatoes, but I crave this dish! It has macha which is the green part of the dish which holds amazing spices and flavors. The tahini helps balance it with a tasty creaminess. I will never come here for dinner and not get this dish. I tried the summer fizz cocktail and it was so refreshing! The steak au poivre is absolutely incredible. Your steak is cooked however you'd like and the creamy black pepper sauce is so good. The potatoes were cooked perfectly and it was absolutely worth what I paid for. I would say that Lola's is a little bit on the pricer side and isn't very casual. I love how classy it looks as well as how open it is. There are tons of plants and windows so there is great natural light. It feels so spacious rather than cramped. When I went to the women's bathroom, I noticed they had complimentary pads and tampons which I greatly appreciate. All staff was very helpful and many workers would help bring out food as well as drinks. Lola's has amazing food that I have never found anywhere else in Omaha or nearby. I absolutely adore this place, its mission, food, and drinks. I cannot wait to come back!
google avatar

Katrina M.

Yelp
I've been searching around for places to take my friend when she comes in town and this might just make the list! Super cute interior, very aesthetically pleasing. I got the speck sandwich which was really good they did not skimp on the Burrata! I also got the Chai, I'm picky about my chai, but this hit the mark for me. I'll definitely get it again. Important to note they do not let you work on laptops on the weekend. My waitress was really nice about it, but just keep that in mind if you're looking for a weekend study spot! Ps if you love prosciutto they have plenty options for you
google avatar

J V.

Yelp
Very slim menu with potato chips as a side on the curry sandwich. Cheap. Ambiance is great! Lots of people hang out here with computers. Staff is variable. A bit cold. On the high side for its genre.
google avatar

Dafne S.

Yelp
Love Lola's! They have awesome coffee. Last time I was there, I ordered a dirty chai. It ended up being too spicy for me, but if you tend to like a spicier chai... this one's for you! I also ordered one of their breakfast sandwiches and it was awesome. The bread was my favorite part The space itself is great if you want to hang out or work on homework. Also, baristas are always so nice :)
google avatar

Whitney S.

Yelp
This is such a fun coffee shop with an amazing atmosphere and view. The staff is always very friendly. The lattes are adorable and so good. I got an egg sandwich on a sourdough bun, and would definitely get again!!
google avatar

Pedro J.

Yelp
This is a hidden gem. Overall the best restaurant in Omaha, combination of great quality food, excellent service, lovely ambiance, and great value.
google avatar

Trevi R.

Yelp
I've been going to Lola's consistently for three months. The food is ultra high quality. The only thing that holds me back from five stars is that the weekday and weekend brunch menus are quite different. Some of my favorite dishes are not available on the weekdays. The space is gorgeous. Natural light, plants, and very nice bathrooms (it matters). Drinks are well crafted from cocktails to lattes. It is a great spot for a quick bite or a special dinner.
google avatar

Mike B.

Yelp
I had the Speck sandwich and it was great. Service was excellent, and Lola's has a cool vibe. The waitress was attentive, and the food came pretty quickly, although I was eating a late lunch, and the place wasn't packed. I would definitely come back for dinner.
google avatar

Lyle O.

Yelp
Lola's is straight up gorgeous - a light, bright, white interior punctuated by lots of tropical plants, with lots of seating. The staff is super friendly and efficient, which is goood because Lola's gets v busy sometimes - if there is a wait, power through, it's worth it. The coffee is top notch, as are the sandos. The toastie in particular is a masterpiece. But if you have one thing, the chocolate knot is pastry perfection - just the right amount of dark chocolate on a moist bun with just the right amount of tear and a hint of sour cream.
google avatar

Sabrina D.

Yelp
I've had my sights set on Lola's for awhile now. Some precious Yelp reviews had me convinced I was missing out on my new favorite breakfast spot. When I finally got around to trying it out, I was a little bit underwhelmed. BUT I also didn't get a chance during this visit to try their coffee bar offerings or their main pastries. I will venture back another time to try those and see if they don't win me over after all! What I did try was the little eggie sandwich - brioche bun with pickled onion and Iowa aged white cheddar and hard boiled eggs. Personally, I didn't like the sharpness of the cheddar directly against the vinegar of the pickled onion. Each ingredient was great by themselves, just not my personal favorite flavor combination. My husband got a more traditional breakfast dish ( though I'm forgetting what exactly it is that he got) and he enjoyed his meal. Portions for the meal were appropriate and the ingredients were all very high quality and very fresh. We will likely be back to try more things and to take advantage enjoying more of their beautiful space!
google avatar

Michelle H.

Yelp
The food and the ambience rock. I knocked off one star for poor timing. Everything came quickly, but all at once. The coffee should come first, not 10 min later with the food, ESPECIALLY at a breakfast place. Also, we never got 2 out of 3 coffee orders, and when pointed out to waitress she apologized but didn't make it right (she should have comped them and brought them anyways). So, a bit irritating experience. That said, it was a delicious but somewhat narrow menu.
google avatar

Andre S.

Yelp
Cute café vibes for sure! Came by here for breakfast/brunch one day and they have pretty solid options. This place is located in Dundee with a lot of other close by businesses and parking is pretty easy with a parking lot right next to it. It was pretty busy when I got here but it didn't take too long to get seated and our server was very friendly and helpful. I ordered a latte, scone and a toastie, all were pretty good. I love prosciutto so I really enjoyed the toastie. The scone had a nice mild sweetness. I tried some of their pancakes. They're sourdough pancakes, and I'm personally not a fan, but sour is not what I typically want in a pancake so I should've known. Honestly, it's the only downfall in my opinion but that's a personal preference. Very cute and would recommend.
google avatar

Teka B.

Yelp
It's a cute little cafe vibe and the space was chill and inviting. I tried the morning bun, which I should have ask for it warm. It was like a cold cinnamon roll but i appreciate that everything was made from scratch. The roasted potatoes were a really small portion and more like sautéed but they were tasty with a little salt and peppers. I'm thinking next time we'll try the pancakes.
google avatar

Rachel B.

Yelp
I haven't been in Omaha long but this is my current favorite restaurant. I went here with a friend for brunch and it was exceptional, so phenomenal in fact that we felt compelled to returned a couple of evenings later that same week for dinner. The food steals the show, whether it's a simple pastry or the short ribs. The dining area is cafe inspired, a very get in & out atmosphere. I long for comfy chairs and big booths but unfortunately this is going out of style. Service was average - brunch great, dinner not very attentive. I believe our server was new so we'll let it pass, plus the food is so good it did not impact our experience. Special mention - butternut burrata sandwich (great flavors, very unexpectedly good), frittata (melt in your mouth, I've never eaten eggs so fast) short ribs (absolutely melt in your mouth delicious)
