The Best Restaurants in Hochelaga-Maisonneuve | Eater Montreal

"Rich, classic Moroccan food abounds at this cozy spot wedged amongst the neighbourhood’s French bistros — couscous and tajines are the obvious picks, accompanied by harira soup (spiked with tomatoes and lentils) to start. This is also a BYOB." - Valerie Silva

The Best North African Restaurants in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"A selection of mouthwatering Moroccan specialties, including several kinds of tagine, and a wide range of couscous dishes, are accompanied by hot coffee or mint tea in this Hochelaga-Maisonneuve restaurant. The music and decor reflect the beauty of the Maghreb region, making for a charming experience. All dishes are also available to go; note that the restaurant is no longer BYOB, and doesn’t serve alcohol." - Karin Murray-Bergquist

A gorgeous setting with authentic Moroccan food. The lamb was outstanding—even for someone who usually avoids it.

Google
A good dive into morrocan food. The place was a bit empty but the food was good. Both the tajines and coucous plates were tasty with great presentation. The only hiccup was a problem with one dish that they didn't correct when asked about it; it reflected the rather average service we've had all evening.

Google
L'Olive Noire offers a satisfying taste of Morocco right here in Montréal. With my Moroccan friend as a guide, I can confirm the authenticity of the flavors. The food is delicious and well-prepared. Service might be a bit slow, but the staff is kind and friendly. A great choice for a Moroccan meal in the city 🇲🇦

Excellent meal and service. The staff were so helpful with our dietary issues. Would recommend the lamb. Their fresh bread was delicious along with their mint tea.

An authentic Moroccan dining experience ! The lamb couscous with dried fruits was absolutely incredible. It was flavorful and perfectly cooked. The portion sizes were generous. The owner provided exceptional service, making us feel truly welcome. Highly recommend !

To start things off, the food was absolutely delicious. I grew up eating Morrocan food as I'm half Morrocan. Unfortunately, the service was extremely slow and it took awhile to get menus. I should note the resto was quiet with at most 6-7 other people. I was taken aback when we found out we had to pay for bottle water as they do not offer tap water. This is the first time in Montreal or anywhere in North America that we had to pay for water. Maybe this is because they don't sell alcohol but this is not acceptable.

Amazing Moroccan cuisine ! We enjoy our choices, very tasty , not disappointing tajines. There’s short staff, so be patient for your food.

Yelp
Amazing flavors and textures, without being too obnoxious for a western pallate. We ordered one chicken tagine and an order of house bread and olive oil, and it easily fed both of us. The authentic Moroccan soup is one of my favorite soups ever. The flavors are so warm with a gentle spice. The fresh baked bread has a delightful crust and is soft and chewy inside. And the tagine is wonderfully executed and delicious, still bubbling at the edges. Flavors of sweet onion, orange, and slight bit of anise dance with the roasted chicken. My only complaint is that I'm too full for dessert (but I ate it anyway).

Yelp
Loved this place. Wish we had discovered it earlier. It is cozy and warm, we had excellent service and the food was absolutely delicious. I highly recommend this place. We will be coming back often!!!

Yelp
At the recommendation of my sister, we had dinner here for mom's birthday. Shared a wonderful couscous royal table d'hôte (with a soup and moroccan salad and deserts included), a chicken pastilla, and spicy chickpea with wonderful bread. After a nice mint tea, had a crepe aux milles trous for dessert.. Excellent moroccan!

Yelp
BYOW Moroccan restaurant in HoMa. Considering the poor variety of restaurant in the hood this place is real exotic. The owner welcomed us warmly and gave us an attentive service. He even offered the desert. The food was fresh, tasty, comforting and served in large portions. We had the Zaâlouk, which is a grilled eggplant appetizer served with home made barley bread. My friend had the classic Couscous Royal and I had the Tfaya Couscous which is made with lamb, candied onions, golden dry grapes, chickpeas and almonds. There's really no reason not to go back! Although I'd say go with friends...not the ambiance for a romantic date.

Yelp
I've been to 3 Moroccan restaurants in Montreal but this one is by far the most authentic restaurant in terms of food offered. Good service but somehow slow.

Yelp
Sincèrement le pire service - worst service I have ever had. Shame. Dommage car la nourriture était très savoureuse.
