London’s Best Hidden Restaurants in Unlikely Locations | Eater London

"The Londis on Fountayne Road in Stoke Newington is not just another Londis. Family-run since the late 1970s and now run by Priyesh and Alpesh Patel, it serves excellent Gujarati dishes alongside the more traditional off-license goods. The takeaway menu, announced on social media, changes regularly and may feature the likes of methi malai paneer, baingan bharta, chai-spiced tiramisu, Bombay mix made with shredded wheat, corn flakes, and Cheerios; and truly outstanding vada pav with smashed potato sandwiched by dry coconut, chilli and garlic chutney on one side of the bun and coriander and garlic chutney on the other." - Jonathan Hatchman

This corner shop is so much more than a corner shop. The best selection of food and drink. Unfortunately it’s not great for my bank account as I frequent it daily and I cannot resist the high end variety of everything that food has to offer.I cannot express enough gratitude and thanks to the wonderful family who run it. Lastly thank you Anju for the best home cooking in town. I hoard the ingredient stickers from your dishes and try replicate them but they are never as good x

I really like this place. I first came here for the curries, which are delicious and amply spiced. They also have quite a nice selection of beers, including several from the best brewery in Europe, The Kernel. This place also has six-packs of Pilsner Urquell cans, which, I can tell you, is not something you can find everywhere. The prices on the beer and curry are quite good I think. I haven’t really shopped for other items here. I’ve found the staff to be friendly. I recommend this place to friends and I’ll definitely keep coming back myself.

They have an incredible selection of everything! Lots of fresh fruit & veg, homemade curry and hot meals, amazing drinks selections (both non-alcoholic & alcohol)… always super friendly & helpful. Definitely one of my favourite shops in London

Just the best vegetarian curries on Tuesday and Friday. I don't do takeaways any more. I buy them here.

Love this shop. The willy Wonka of córner shops and the curry is superb. Appreciate that you can get Papo’s bagels there too.

We love Londis N16! It has everything you need at reasonable prices. In particular: good quality fruit and veg, excellent selection of beer and low intervention wine, plus great selection of crisps, snacks and condiments. Highly recommended.

Nice selection of veg outside under shelter to protect from the sun.and inside. They do home made fresh curry dishes on certain days. Staff are great, collect plus is well organized and they have doggy parking outside (just a hook on a wall) which is super handy!

Great local shop selling delicious home-cooked Indian food to take away, and also a surprisingly wide selection of Mexican and Asian (Japanese especially) cooking ingredients. Also has excellent choice of beers and wine.
