"For too long, the brisket trimmings at celebrated barbecue joint Podnah’s Pit were gong to waste. Then the team headed by owner Rodney Muirhead decided to turn them into burgers. The resulting pop-up was popular enough that now Lone Star is a brick-and-mortar restaurant in the former La Taq space next to Podnah’s. We decided to come here to check out the food. We ordered the green chile burger, Bleu cheeseburger, and their hit dog special. The quality of meat on the burgers were great and super tasty. The size of the burgers were also of good size. The hot dog was also pretty good to try out. I would come here again.

The burger we had was good, but not superlative in any way. The patty was very under-seasoned, and the format is not my favorite - more of a steakhouse burger...which is fine if that’s what you like. I’m curious what a 1/4# patty on the same setup would be like, or better yet two 1/4# patties, instead of one 1/2# patty…also the small side of fries is seriously small.

Had the green Chile cheeseburger. This New Mexico boy would have appreciated more heat in the chilies, but the bistro style burger was perfectly cooked, juicy and huge. But these onion rings are amazing. Juicy onions wrapped in crust that stayed crunchy the entire time . If you only knew how often I'm disappointed in Burger joints you would trust me and check this place out. I didn't see a sign outside but it's definitely in there

Stopped by here for a cocktail and a burger, and it certainly did not disappoint. Super cozy atmosphere, the staff were very welcoming and friendly. Burgers were JUICY and a good size, you can definitely tell they know their stuff if you want a leveled up but down to earth burger joint. The bartender made me a delicious cosmo, love how you can get a nice cocktail at such a casual place! I’ll definitely be back.

Small, simple menu. My only complaint was there was way too much salt on the burger I ordered. It overpowered the other flavors. Aside from that, it was delicious and juicy. A 6 napkin burger. The fries were perfection. So good. Nice selection of beers on tap and full bar.

What a fun place! Great and welcoming service by both the front and back of the house. The blue cheese burger and onion rings were the best I’ve had. The bartender knew what he was doing, perfect drinks. Can’t wait to go again.

Hands down, best burger I have had in Portland in the past 10+ years. Honestly, I had gotten to a point that I no longer order or crave burgers because (even during burger week) most are disappointing. Burgers are back in Portland baby! And better than ever!
