Long Bar

My wife and I stopped into Long Bar at the end of the night since we did not have a reservation to see if we could get a Singapore Sling and we were able to walk right in (Granted this was a weekday an hour before closing). I would recommend getting a reservation as this place gets packed later in the evening. Since this was the origin of the Singapore Sling we decided we had to give it a try. The hostess sat us at a table in the middle of the restaurant where we had a clear view of the bar where they prepare the cocktails. I thought it was unique that the bar is known for having peanuts on the table and you just shuck the shells onto the floor. The drinks here are delicious but just make sure you have a fat wallet if you decide to order a handful of drinks here. This is our review of the two drinks we ordered:

I really expected more it felt almost like a touristic scam... First of all a bar without food? Just some peanuts for free is fine but without food there is no atmosphere... As a former bartender I know how to make a Singapore sling. I ordered the original one and I felt there were a lot of ingredient missing I didn't even see how the bartender made it... So maybe they just used a premix or used some mafia tricks that are used in gastronomic areas... Way to expensive as well, I gave some tip because the staff treated me well at least and my cat died on that day and I thought hey I give it a try to that place where my favorite cocktail was invented... Way to commercial... Is not worth it visiting this place. Where was the Dom Benedictine and lemon juice in the cocktail now when I think about it more... Very sad! Singapore you can do better. That's not authentic at all.

For the experience I came to have I give 5 stars. I wanted a Singapore Sling, I got it out was good. I wanted a Plum Mojito, I got it and loved it. I wanted to throw peanuts on the floor and I did that. I forgot the hosts name but he was born in 1986,I know that because he recognized my Buddha pendant and thought my thai dragon pendant was a good compliment to it. He and the other host did great moving the line and getting people in without a long wait. I implore you to wait even if the line looks long, it will move fast. If you can also look around and read the history. Oh and the peanuts are really really good! I feel sorry for whoever cleans at night. 😃 😀 😄

This place lived up to expectations! We went for openning, 11am, to avoid any queues later in the day. We were straight in to a table, and served two singapore slings once ordered very quickly. If you want a bar stool seat you would need to be first in the queue, there is around 12 or more bar stools. We had a comfortable table. In around one hour the place was full mid week. They serve complimentary bag of monkey nuts to have with your drink, and custom to throw the rubbish on the floor! Was a great experience, there is a lot of memorabilia to purchase, and a lot of the hotel has decorations related to the making of the singapore sling. Re pricing.... worth it for the experieence! £28 per drink is what it worked out for us, including tax and tip. A lovely bar to sit in for one drink.

Let's face it, it's a tourist trap and one I had to do. The Long Bar is famous for being the place that first created the Singapore Sling. The queue at 11.30am on a weekday, was an hour long and partially in full sun with out seating for most part. The ctazy over priced cocktail was $44 SGD, whilst the original receipe, was not the best I've tasted. You are unable to.buy any food. The feeling wasn't very welcoming, it was more like staff were rushing you especially if you declined ordering more drinks, even though you hadn't finished your first round. They would make a fortune in one day, as people piled in and out just to try the famous cocktail, of which tables were full of.

This is the place for the iconic cocktail Singapore Sling! Even when you do not stay in the luxury Raffles hotel, you can visit the famous Long Bar within the hotel premises. Be prepared for a waiting queue which is worth to overcome to enter the bar with two levels. A must take is the Singapore Sling perfectly prepared and served. You also get peanuts along the cocktail to enjoy that place and atmosphere. A must do when in Singapore!

We also ordered the Plum Mojito, and it was, without a doubt, the best we’ve had in Southeast Asia ….beautifully balanced, refreshing, and dangerously enjoyable. The Singapore Sling itself was so well crafted that we found ourselves happily repeating the same order, savouring every sip. Surrounded by a vibrant selection of eateries and restaurants, Raffles Hotel is not just a destination but an experience. It’s a place to slow down, soak in Singapore’s heritage, and create lasting memories. A must-visit landmark to mark any trip to Singapore.

Classic colonial vibes, spinning ceiling fans, and yes – you’re allowed (and encouraged) to throw peanut shells on the floor. Super fun and unique in spotless Singapore. The original Singapore Sling is sweet, fruity, and tastes best right here where it was invented. Bartenders are pros, the atmosphere is relaxed and historic. It’s pricey (~S$40 with taxes) and can get busy, but for the legend and the experience, it’s a must-do. Go early to skip the queue. Highly recommend! 🍹🥜
