Long Beach Pride Blames Trump for Loss of Sponsorships and Scales Down Annual Festival | Eater LA

"One of the nation’s oldest running festivals is in the midst of deep sponsorship cuts: Longbeachize reports that it lost backing from companies that typically provide it with sponsorships, including McDonald’s and Walmart. The organizer told Longbeachize that the changes have likely come as a result of President Donald Trump targeting of diversity initiatives. The event runs on May 17 and May 18. The city’s restaurants, hotels, and bars receive a significant boost during Pride, as well as new jobs and tax revenue for the city; sponsors for large events often cover a significant portion of the operating budgets." - Mona Holmes

I have always wanted to go toand be the grand Marshall sic I did get to the tail end last year no pun intended. And had a good time at the Falcon and Mineshaft.I used to live in Long Beach back in the 1996,with my boyfriend .and a bunch of Pet Smart adoptees and I truly miss those days .I missed the Pride event then , I remember have to go to work ,but it looked fun-filled and great deejays good music and pretty flag all the colors symbolizing nature and humanity in a way that should be celebrated and have partying too ,you only live once .I wish I could live in the 90s again.,ain't going to happen ,but those were better times for me and alot of people ,I assume .Happy Lb pride always🇷🇴🙃😍🌐

Two stars is all you get! Everything is so overpriced including the much higher entrance. The venue seems to be a quarter of the size it used to be which I think it could work out but they need much more stage areas. The stage performers were lacking to say the least. Saturday I could only say the DJ’s were much more interactive and hyped up the crowd. Sunday they didn’t seem to speak until 8:00 pm when it was time to close… yes the event closed at 8:00 🤦🏼‍♂️ Sad to say until someone else takes over the planning of this event it will go down hill quick. Maybe that is what the city wants 🤷🏼‍♂️

2024 PRIDE was the worst Pride Event I have ever attended. We opted for the VIP Experience, NEVER AGAIN. What a rip off! WHAT A JOKE! Tiny VIP area only one beverage station NO food section, only 1 messy bathroom.... we saw the Security letting people in without VIP bands on, it looked shady and unfair to us that paid full price... Last time we will ever go to this event. WARNING TO OTHERS....if you go SKIP THE SO CALLED "VIP" NOT WORTH THE 3 TIMES THE AMOUNT. The entire event was not well organized.

This pride festival was not the best one. The only thing that kind of helped the event was that most people were at EDC so lines were shorter. Still with that there were many empty booths. The food choice was decent, but the bar/drink selection was horrible. They were serving Smirnoff vodka that was already made and they were pouring it from a jug. Vodka lemonade should not sit there in a warm jug and poured over a full cup of ice. Drinks should be made in front of you if you are charging that much for one “cocktail.” We tried ordering beer and were asked if warm beer was okay? What?! It was hard to find a schedule of events and performances so it was a guessing game. Not enough security were at the main stage where the main performance was at, there was several alterations and pushing in the crowd. There was no spotlight on the performer, so it was very dark to see her face the entire performance.

Worst VIP experience ever! Don’t know what they charge more for VIP?!?! Only thing nice was AC bathrooms.. Line for a drink was well over 30 minutes EVERY time! And then it was $25 a cocktail! Would never pay the upgrade fee for VIP again..they need to learn from other what VIP is all about!

Don't go, much better Prides elsewhere. Workers are super rude and definitely not worth the entry charge and they do not allow in and out, Greed wins with this event, not love. So disappointed.

Always a great smile by staff and volunteers willing to help out with our MANY questions. Thank you for what you do and I look forward to seeing Long Beach Pride grow to the potential it has.
