A Brand New ‘Boozenasium’ Resurrects a Longtime Spring Branch Neighborhood Bar | Eater Houston

"Opening on June 7 at 8518 Long Point Road in Spring Branch, this new six-owner bar—staffed by operators with roots in well-known Houston spots such as Lil’ Danny Speedo’s, Big Star Bar, Grand Prize, Okras Charity Saloon, Lei Low Rum Bar, Houston Watch Co., and Eureka Heights Brewing Company—aims to resurrect and slightly update the former neighborhood haunt’s “comfortable and cozy” vibe. The drinks program highlights local beer (with at least two Eureka Heights beers on draft at all times), roughly 20 bottled/canned selections as part of an “elevated” beer offering, classic cocktails, and a margarita machine. The bar won’t offer full kitchen service but tested crockpot dishes and may continue simple fare like hot dogs; current hours are Sunday–Thursday 4 p.m.–midnight and Friday–Saturday 4 p.m.–2 a.m." - Alaena Hostetter

We love this place! A unique place with excellent drinks. We are lucky to call it our neighborhood bar. The staff are excellent and drinks are quality at a great price.

So glad that I found this little hidden gem, I adored it! The vibe in there was super smooth and I felt super comfortable. We did cause a little rukus but not too bad, we just felt great. The bartenders were patient with us and they made incredible drinks! The have a large selection of drinks and beers. The jukebox was fun to mess with since it has been a while, they also have a backside alley way smoking section which was nice. The whole place was clean and there is a small amount of seating but it works out. There is a pool table and some board games as well. They have great specials and happy hour. I definitely plan on coming back!

Best local neighborhood bar in the area. Great staff and very creative cocktails. Owned by the owner of Lei Low, so you know it's gonna be great!

Google
One of my favorite dive bar I've ever gone to. The atmosphere was welcoming, they had food, and I was a fan of the drinks. Was every glad my friends brought me there. If you're ever in H-town go there!

Google
New ownership and a new name. Different vibe, and interior and a new drink menu. Great place to hang out. After a year, gotta say this has become a regular haunt. Prices can't be beat.

Google
Loose Cannon is a cozy dive that has a little something for everyone. This is one of those spots where you can walk through the door knowing that whether you're alone or with company you're going to have a nice time. I've been to Loose Cannon with friends and/or family several times. Parking is never an issue with additional spots to the left of the building and each time I go I have the same experience: the bartenders and patrons here are super welcoming and friendly, the atmosphere is extremely cozy, and the drinks are comparatively cheap but delicious. They also host occasional events such as steak and comedy nights that I have yet to try, but my family has told me they enjoy. If you're looking for a no-nonsense come-as-you-are-good time, I couldn't recommend Loose Cannon more.

Google
I visited your bar yesterday and, as is often the case, the service at the bar took a bit of time. That’s not a major issue — I understand it’s a dive bar and that comes with the territory. However, something that has been a recurring concern is the inconsistency in pricing. On multiple occasions, I’ve felt like I’ve been charged more than what’s listed on the menu. Last night, I paid closer attention and confirmed it: I ordered two cocktails, which are clearly listed as $8 each on your menu. My total came out to $21.62 — noticeably higher than expected, even after tax. On top of that, my girlfriend was served a cocktail with spoiled pineapple juice. She had to ask for it to be remade, which isn’t something that should be happening in any bar, regardless of the atmosphere or price point. I didn’t bring any of this up at the time because we were trying to enjoy our night out, but I do think this reflects poorly on how the bar is run. If you advertise a price, that should be what customers are charged — and serving spoiled ingredients is completely unacceptable

Yelp
A friend recommended this spot, and I have to say I've never been to a bar this clean, if you can believe it! The real wood tables and chairs give it such a warm vibe, the drinks are great, and the prices are super reasonable. I'll definitely be coming back 1000%!

Yelp
Our favorite neighborhood bar. Great drinks, lovely people, fun atmosphere. We love spending a Sunday afternoon there (yay happy hour!).

Yelp
Brought to you by the team behind Lei Low, Loose Cannon is a fun, divey local lounge with a nautical, pirate vibe. They have a great bourbon selection and a rum focused list of specialty drinks. There are some table games- Uno anyone? And free popcorn. Let's keep it local and support this establishment.

Yelp
I love the vibe of this bar. I lived in the Caribbean and so to find a lovely hidden paradise like this is absolute heaven. Will be coming back multiple times. Bartenders are amazing too

Yelp
Came here on a Tuesday afternoon before a Yelp event. Place was pretty empty which was expected for the time and day we went in. The bartender was friendly and was happy to answer questions about their drink specials and even gave recommendations. The Devore gives a beach bar vibe. Music isn't too loud and is played by a jukebox. This can be good or bad depending on who's feeding it. I wouldn't mind coming back in the vending hours to see what the crow/vibe is like.

Yelp
This was the pregame to a Yelp event, and it is clean, quiet and has a pretty bang and happy hour. The bartender was friendly and cool, and my rice draft was a delicious $6 dollars with happy hour discount. I will return and bring money for more yacht rock radio.

Yelp
Cute little spot in spring breach. Such a hidden gem. The drinks are a twist of classic cocktails and they have a huge selection of beers

Yelp
Cool spot to hang at. Divey for sure. I would stick to staying with their menu staples and the frozen drinks. We tried to ask for a queens park swizzle and a caparinha both of which were far from mark. Good beer selection and fun menu

Yelp
First time coming by this place last week on the night before Thanksgiving and I really liked it. The place itself is pretty small, but still lots of space to sit. A few tables, plus the bar seating area. Bartenders were great, friendly, and fast. We were trying their fancier menu, so I got a painkiller, my friend got a Paloma. Both were great, very strong. The atmosphere was chill, they had cute xmas decor up. Overall nice place to go and have a drink . Support spring branch local bars !

Yelp
Tried this place for a second time this week. The drinks I had were good. Ambiance inside is very nice. The outdoor patio is smaller than my smallest closet in my house! Bartenders are friendly. I did get the vibe that it has a good share of regulars, and they don't seem open to other people. Will go back though.

Yelp
Don't call it a comeback. This location used to be the Might As Well Lounge and Boozenasium. It's a fun, low-key, casual rum-centric cocktail bar. The service is friendly and good, and the cocktails are A+. The painkiller is my current favorite. Good jukebox, too, although if you pick a clunker, they're not shy with the skip feature.

Yelp
Surprising dive bar! Excellent martini atmosphere laid back. Hidden gem! The old school juxe box was a bonus! Don't change a thing!

Yelp
Great atmosphere with reasonably priced fun Exotic drinks. Plenty of beer and wine selections as well. Also great options on the jukebox with plenty of parking.
