The Owners of L’Orchidée de Chine Have a New Restaurant on the Plateau | Eater Montreal
"Opened in 1987 and operating on Peel Street for 31 years before closing in December 2018, L’Orchidée de Chine was a once-beloved Szechuan restaurant that served figures such as Pierre Elliott Trudeau, Justin Trudeau, Nicole Kidman, and Roger Moore; former Gazette critic Lesley Chesterman called its General Tao Chicken the best in North America in 2017. The owners felt it was time to move on after much of their regular patronage began to age out or move away from the downtown core." - Audrey Carleton
Open on Sunday when most restaurants are closed. Very friendly hostess who might be the co-owner with the chef. Some of the best tasting soy sauce noodles that we have ever had. The broth in the noodle soup was first rate and not salty. All dishes were brought to the table piping hot.
Great food , friendly welcome , reasonable prices. Well worth a visit.
