Discover LA’s cool vibe at this Hawthorne craft brewery, boasting 24+ unique beers, a lively atmosphere, and a chill outdoor patio.
"If you’ve spent much time in the South Bay, you’ve probably driven past LA Ale Works' taproom in Hawthorne, a few blocks from SpaceX (and right across the street from another solid brewery, Common Space). Ale Works is a good spot to host a party when you don't know how many people will show up. The massive warehouse tends to be full of 30-somethings gathered to discuss cryptocurrency or watch sports, and there's a great collection of IPAs, lagers, stouts, and sours to carry everyone through the night. There’s no food inside, but there’s usually vendors selling pizza, tacos, and burgers out front. When it’s warm, take advantage of outdoor picnic tables spread across the astroturf lawn. They also have a smaller tasting room in Culver City right next to the metro. " - brant cox, sylvio martins, nikko duren, garrett snyder

"Andrew Fowler, managing partner of Hawthorne’s LA Ale Works, discusses the hardships of running a brewery in Los Angeles, from the high cost of real estate and utilities to the demanding nature of the job." - Farley Elliott
"LA Aleworks might have a relatively small selection of cans to-go, but this Hawthorne brewery makes a wide range of really great beer. From light options, like a beautiful, crispy red lager called Dead Cowboy, to IPAs like the Star Kitten (a very bitter West Coast-style), to excellent heavy and barrel-aged stuff - including Jazz Forever, a blend of barleywine, stout, and bock aged in bourbon barrels. Order online for in-store pick-up." - brett keating
"LA Aleworks has been in the astroturf game far longer than most spots in LA - and their excellent, fake grass-covered patio has reopened with picnic tables, umbrellas, Edison bulbs, and a lot of great beer - like Hop Season, a new, really fantastic fresh-hopped pale ale. Reservations here." - brett keating
