The 17 Best New Restaurants In NYC - New York - The Infatuation

"Before Los Burritos Juárez, our definition of tortillas in NYC was narrower. They were either corn or flour, always thin, and hardly ever the whole point. But at this small outfit in Fort Greene, the flour tortillas in their Juárez-style burritos are so thick that comparing them to warm, fresh pita wouldn’t be out of place. They're made with lard and hand-rolled to order, and do an exceptional job of soaking up various fillings, like shredded chicken in a green sauce, or velvety beans and cheese. But it’s those tortillas that'll make you return for round two, or maybe ask if you can take one to go, and slip it into your pocket for safekeeping." - bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, willa moore, will hartman, sonal shah, will hartman, molly fitzpatrick, willa moore, willa moore, will hartman, bryan kim, molly fitzpatrick, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, will hartman, molly fitzpatrick, will hartman, bryan kim, willa moore, molly fitzpatrick, willa moore, willa moore, sonal shah, willa moore

Los Burritos Juárez - Review - Clinton Hill - New York - The Infatuation

"Until Los Burritos Juarez, our definition of NYC tortillas was pretty narrow. They were either corn or flour, always thin, sometimes good but often mediocre, and hardly ever the whole point. But when we found Los Burritos Juárez in the backyard at Doppelgänger, things shifted. The flour tortillas in theirJuárez-style burritos are made with lard and hand-rolled to order by the chef. They're so thick that comparing them to the warmest and freshest pita wouldn't be wrong, and they do an exceptional job soaking up the various fillings. Options change from pop-up to pop-up: there’s always guisos like chile colorado with fatty and fall-apart chunks of beef, and vegetarian iterations like bean and cheese. Still, it's the tortillas that'll make you go back for round two, or ask if you might possibly be able to take a tortilla to go, and slip it into your pocket for safekeeping. Keep an eye on their Instagram for upcoming pop-ups, and updates on their brick-and-mortar, which is opening on Myrtle Avenue in Fort Greene sometime in summer 2025." - Willa Moore

Five stars everywhere!!! The freshly hand rolled tortilla was so amazing, fluffy, and chewy and was the best thing ever. We got the chicken mole and the braised pork burritos and both flavors were fantastic, with a lil spice and cheese. Will definitely come back to try other burritos and quesadillas.

Being an LA native, my outlook on Mexican food in New York is beyond bleak. This seems to be a hot take out here, which just sort of makes me laugh. I get hit with "there's this one spot in Jackson Heights that's AMAZING, you don't know what you're talking about you bum transplant..." One spot deep in Jackson heights!?! In LA you can get good Mexican food damn near everywhere... but I digress. A fellow LA to NY transplant informed me about Los Burritos Juarez that just opened in Brooklyn 2 days earlier, and she said the burritos held up with our nose-in-the-air LA Mexican food standards. I was shocked when I pulled up and this place was POPPIN. Standing room only. I felt the aura. I guess Chef Alan Delgado is the mastermind behind this place, who was previously the Director of R&D at the Michelin starred Oxomoco. He has the juice. I took a look at the menu as I waited in line, and saw a burrito was only $11. My goodness. A good burrito at a reasonable price in New York City!?! GOD STEPPED IN. However, when I got to the front of the line the gentleman taking my order informed me it would be about an hour wait. An hour!?!? Oof... but I came all the way out here so I ordered a Verde beef burrito ($11), chips and guac ($8), and a Mexican coke for the plot. When I ordered, the guy sheepishly said "If you're really hungry, you should order 2 burritos." I imagine he saw the desperate look of confusion on my face as he followed up with "they're pretty small..." Damn. I knew it was too good to be true. He wasn't lying either. I ended up adding a chicken mole burrito to my order, and sat there for 54 minutes watching them make these "burritos." They give you a tiny spoonful of beans as the base layer on a fresh handmade flour tortilla, and one scoop of meat before they wrap it up. It's really a mini burrito. I was disappointed, but at $11 what could I expect? 2 of them was still more food than the typical burrito and at $22, it's about right in line with market price for a NYC burrito. I also can eat like a small horse, so I will acknowledge that the general population may prefer these smaller portions. Portion sizes aside, this quality was FANTASTIC. Phenomenal. Sensational. The tortilla is a true Mexican flour tortilla with a thick, pillowy texture. You can see them handmaking each one right there in front of you. Guac was clearly made fresh in house too. I preferred the chicken mole to the grass fed beef verde, but both had me giving an audible "damn..." Just a blast of flavor on every bite, and the fresh salsa they provide takes it up a notch. All in all, a damn good "burrito" and making me slowly respect the NYC Mexican food scene more and more. If this was closer to me, I'd be living in here. IG @jnov_ Tiktok @jnov__

A hungry person could probably eat two of these. The tortillas are made to order and very fluffy, almost like naan. Always great to see handmade flour tortillas, although I prefer the version at Yellow Rose. At $11 each, value is pretty debatable. Pro move: bean and (extra) cheese quesadilla.

Amazing homemade tortillas. Great spot for a delicious burrito in Brooklyn. Chipotle hot sauce is incredible! Worth the wait!

Best burritos in the city. Each tortilla handmade with care filled with delicious black refried beans and choices of stewed meats. Wish I lived closer, I always take some to go to freeze at home before I can make it back over for my next fix. Congrats to Chef Alan for opening up the brick and mortar, he’s a master at his craft.

How good could a burrito be? Really frigging good. The tortillas are a love letter made by chef Alan Delgado, and are a vessel for mouth watering stew meat, beans, mole, and whatever other beautiful flavors find their way any given visit. Get 4, eat 2, walk off the belly, eat one more when you get home, and save the other for a midnight snack. You won’t regret any of it!

Excellent new spot in Fort Greene - so glad to have a high quality tortilla shop nearby! After trying all of them, the Colorado was our easy favorite and the Frijoles Con Queso was a runner up. All were great but those were a tier above the rest! 1.5 burritos was the perfect serving size so get 3 between 2 ppl. Pro tip on timing - they open at 12pm and I was one of the first in line on a Friday at 11:30am-ish. Once they opened, I was in and out of there in 3 minutes, so that’s probably the best move. The line exploded starting 11:45am and there were at least 30-40 ppl behind up until open that wrapped around the corner. Expect it to be crazier on a weekend, so early is the play to just get in and out when it opens. We’ll be back on a weekday 🙂 Great burritos!

This was bad. It's like a 45 minute wait for lunch, and what you get is insanely bland! I don't taste any kind of seasoning whatever—spices, salt, aromatics—none. And it's not like the salsas do much, either. New York City has actually good Mexican food now. Even at a lunch rush you can get tacos in 15 or 20 minutes at Los Tacos # 1 or Taqueria Ramirez that are delicious. This is not a good spot. Not worth your time or money.
