Alright y'all, hold on because this is going to be a wild ride. I literally had to sleep on it before I decided to review the edible magic that was delivered to my door.
Just another Tuesday night trying to decide what we wanted to do for dinner. Should we go out? Should we stay in? What kind of food? We were lost. As I'm scrolling I see my partner fixating on a menu. "Los Camaradas" it said. Alright, cool, new Mexican spot, "what they got?" I sighed.
"Well they have a lot of random things but they have those esquites you always talk about" they responded.
"Oh word?!" I exclaimed. I was ready.
Let me tell you, it took me a solid 10 minutes to make my entree choice (I'd already gotten two orders of esquites and a tres leches, priorities y'all.). Then after checking yelp for some food pics we both realized we NEEDED to change our orders. A taco with Brussels sprouts? How did we miss it the first time...
NOW MIND YOU.... the food was ordered through delivery, it had to travel, it needed to be boxed and sealed and all that jazz that can make or break a meal. A few minutes in the wrong container and your food is a warm, squishy mess. MY FOOD CAME HOT AND CRISPY. Maybe I lucked out with the logistics of my delivery, but you got me a plastic container of sweet plantains and they were still holding their natural crispness from cooking. The Mexican rice wasn't in an unnatural, container-shaped clump, it was hot, that perfect "al-dente" and even had some corn in it giving it perfect hints of moisture and sweetness.
The vegetarian tacos with Brussels sprouts and mushrooms was so delicious. I HATE mushrooms and I had to steal a few bites here and there. I ordered the chicken quesadilla listed as simply "pollo" on the app. The flavors within this soft, half moon, tortilla were just about the best thing I've eaten this year. There's a strong familiarity in the flavor that reminds me of something that I just can't put my finger on, and I'm ok with that.
I honestly was worried our neighbors would be trying to figure out why they were hearing us swearing so often, every bite we did it, only out of pure and utter happiness. It was primal.
The way the food was prepared and delivered, we're headed to try dining in house. I honestly felt like I had just been served from the kitchen. This place is a MUST TRY. Seriously. I've never felt this strongly about a damn restaurant in my life.
Can't wait to enjoy again!
