This restaurant is fantastic! Very traditional for the area! Best beans, rice, and red chili sauce in town. Also phenomenal chips and salsa. If you are new to the area, or have never been here, it will not disappoint!

The owners of this location are amazing, well at all locations. They made food for my mother's funeral and everything was over the top yummy. A truly heartfelt thank you. All your restaurants make everyone feel like family. Waiters and waitress are so friendly, kind, and make you feel welcome the minute you walk in at all locations. Highly recommend you stop on in anytime they are open.

Google
Authentic Mexican Food, it’s delicious and the quality is worth your money. Stella is the best at her work! I’ve seen her feed the needy and if for whatever reason you weren’t happy with your food she will fix it! Some of the employees customer service could improve but overall my experience was great!!

This place is always a must have when we come back to town. My husband always has to have his chorizo papa egg beans n cheese as I have to have my chicharon and Chile relleno burrito. Salsa is amazing

Service was slow and water refills ignored. Some of the food was barely warm when served. The food tasted good but both my friend and I did not feel well the rest of the day and part of the next.

Pay before the service is how this restuarant handles business, including tip. I have encountered the first of it's kind. I had to pay for chips and salsa, if I wanted some. $1.70 is the price. I tipped before I received the service. The waitress brought me the food that I ordered, Lg bowl of Menudo and a chicken enchilada, under normal circumstances, a person would be thankful for receiving a tip. The waitress did not acknowledge the tip. The Menudo had a small amount of tripe, the enchilada was small for the price. I can't remember the last time i recieved the least for my money. I filled in the blanks on my receipt. No fraud involved.

If you order the steak Tampico be sure to ask for the plastic to be removed from the steak before cooking.

Look at those burritos! Less than $9! And delicious! And they were served piping hot! You want limes with your beer? Bam, done! Now there aren't free refills on chips and salsa, but I think that's a benefit. How many times have you gone and filled up on chips and salsa somewhere and not been able to finish your hot fresh food? Here is a check of "Do you reeeally want more?" I would definitely put Los Compas on a list for tasty cheap eats in Las Cruces.

Yelp
Quality was bad and has recently gotten even worse. They charge you for the stale chips and flavorless salsa now. As expected, pre-shredded cheese straight from the bag, not even melted. Rice and beans were microwaved, or somehow managed to be even hotter than the enchiladas, which by the way, are just three flat tortillas covered in red grease and imitation cheese (Not rolled or even actually cooked). From the taste of the rice and beans, they definitely are stored in a plastic bucket days in advance. Another place that advertises Mexican food, but instead found a way to disrespect the culture and cuisine and manage to charge you.

Yelp
Did the change cooks. Green enchiladas were cold. Cheese not even melted. No flavor and watered down. Beans were also watered down. Rice was good. 2nd time we have been disappointed. Waitress is really good. We won't be going back. It used to be our favorite but no more!

Yelp
I'll always give this place a five star rating. It always gives good home vibes. Very authentic, a landmark of Las cruces. I have been coming to this place up for a long time and I always recommend. It's much better than that place across the street. Ok. So here it is. I've been coming for 20 years. I think this last time I noticed some changes in the food. Maybe the younger generation is running the show now. I had to add salt to the huevos rancheros. Ok ok. Fine. The place is cleaner than I remember too. I admit I like my Mexican restaurants like the cheap hole in the walls in Juárez Mx, dirty disgusting and delicious. The coffee is still good and the wait staff was pleasant. Still a good Sunday morning breakfast stop. One of my top 5 in Las Cruces for sure

Yelp
Salsa is not free, but it really brings the . Pretty quiet in there, no TVs or anything which can make more a quaint time. There's not really servers at this location, as you pay up front. Pricing is outstanding in comparison to the competition. A bit of some odd smells in the restaurant. Combo plate was absolutely smacking. I gotta give them credit for having such great food. 4/5

Yelp
We wanted chilaquiles and they weren't serving them that day but they made some for us anyways and they were delicious!! This is a cute lil place with excellent service and food.

Yelp
The menu is vast for medicinal food, however when I visited the desert menu was lacking what was available. Not having Sopaipillas or Empanadas was a let down. The chips are not that great although the salsa packs a good flavor. The main red chili was delicious on the main courses below.

Yelp

Yelp
I've been coming to Los Compas for many years now! Great food that never disappoints! Was kinda shocked to find out the chips and salas weren't free anyone. Would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is looking for some great Mexican food!

Yelp
Very disappointing, I use to eat there a long time ago when I lived there. Burrito was small with just beans no cheese, chile or garnish it was pathetic. Taco Bell rates tons better. I also bought a tostada and she didn't have it with her. She brought mine and my husband's food at the same time. She didn't say anything so I asked about my additional item. Instead of saying I'll be right back with your tostada she told me I didn't have enough hands, WTH, I loved it as a college student so sad it was a terrible experience. Unless, they make a big change I would not recommend it.

Yelp
Following the pandemic I decided to give Los Compas another try. Previously, I had not enjoyed the food that much, although I kind of liked the friendly casual atmosphere. Today I found the restaurant well organized and busy. The staff is very friendly. Prices were quite reasonable as usual. They serve a neighborhood clientele and thus keep the cost in line. Today I checked out their burrito plate....one red and one green and their relleno burrito. The burrito plate was not your usual "plate": they kept the cost down by providing no rice or beans. The burritos were swimming in a watery and oily sauce that had no flavor....or what little flavor it did have was plainly weird. The burritos became quite mushy as a result. The meat in each was flavorless. I could not finish the burritos. They were two of the worst chile burritos I have ever had. The relleno burrito was packed with beans and had a little green chile in it. It had little flavor. Just mediocre. A few years ago I thought I would never return to Los Compas but because I kind of like the friendly, casual neighborhood ambiance I decided to give it another try. But, after today's experience I am sure i will never return. I have downgraded this place....because the food is not good....to TWO STARS.....meaning below average for the overall dining experience. Not recommended. Leave it to the neighborhood clientele. (Four and five star reviews??? Come on folks...you know better than that!)

Yelp
We've eaten at this Los Compas once, and gotten take out a handful of times. The problem with this particular location is that they either have regulars that they cater to or some other discriminatory factor that leaves some customers (i.e. myself) out in the dust. I came to this location one time to order fajitas, only to have people constantly walking in and out with their food. Not call in orders either. These people came up to the counter, ordered their food, waited, and then left with their food whilst I was sitting or standing there waiting for mine. After about 20 minutes I inquired. "Oh, they're working on it now"... again 15 minutes later, same response. Finally, a different person addressed the issue, and couldn't find the order, so I had to order again. Waited and waited and waited... ridiculous. Then at a later date, same thing happened. Only this time they just blatantly served other customers before me (order wasn't lost, or they at least didn't claim it was lost)... while I waited and waited and waited... After about 25-30 minutes, the girl checked, came back, "They're working on it". 20 more minutes go by... several more take out customers go by (note, I'm not even counting the "dine in" customers... just the "take out" because they are sitting there waiting with us. They come and go). Finally, after this girl told us they were working on it,.. about 25 minutes later we get our food. Really?? This only happens at this location on Nevarez. The other two locations have much better service. The food was... eh... ok. But their service gets them a big fat zero - and loss of our patronage forever.

Yelp
I wanted to have some menudo this morning before work. So I ordered when I got there. I waited 10 minutes inside, then they sent me to my truck where I waited 10 minutes more. Isn't the menudo already made. What took them so long??? They forgot about me. Worst experience ever

Yelp
Los Compas has been a mainstay in las cruces since I was in high school. The food is delicious and the decor is uniquely southern New Mexico. My favorite is the gorditas. I have yet to find another restaurant that compares. The salsa is served hot and it has got a good kick to it.

Yelp
Worst customer service ever . First time here and definitely my last. The experience was horrible from a start til end . Called in my order over the phone , the first person who answered didn't want to take the order so I was passed to another person. Finally I was able to place the order . I then go in to pick up my food 20 mins later and the order was never placed . I had to wait another 45 mins for my food by that time I didn't even want the food anymore , I asked for my money back and they didn't want to give it back , I asked to speak to a manager and the manager didn't want to come out and speak to us , Very unprofessional staff members, all young kids , everyone was on their phones snap chatting. I asked one of the staff members if I could get extra cheese and she rudely responded with an attitude that ALL FOOD HAS EXTRA CHEESE. If you want to be treated like crap then come here other than that I'd never recommend coming to this place to eat. The food also is mediocre and the size of the burrito is a joke .

Yelp
I grew up loving this place but some things have changed. The ground beef for the gorditas and tacos has become dry and tasteless. Perhaps it is a healthier version but the former excellent taste has been compromised. The carne desebrada is still great though, and the chile relleno burrito with chicharrones still amazing.

Yelp
The specials are very good, I don't think you can get as much food in one combination anywhere else. I reccommend the red enchiladas

Yelp
Since it has happened for the 3rd time I figured I would ask exactly what is the point of calling in an order when I was served with the same exact experience had I walked in the door. How do I know? The guy behind me in line got his order before me. The service has actually gotten worse the past few years but the food is good
google avatar

Yelp
Service was great and very prompt... However food was very bland, beans and rice had zero flavor. Kids flautas were dry. Chile relleno however was very good!

Nicole H.

Yelp
This place used to be one of the best in Las Cruces. Now it's very mediocre. The food is okay but some of the items are overpriced and the menu doesn't have much variety, especially the combination plates. They charged $3 for a single tamale and then when all our food came out, told us they were out.

Yelp
Great food, great price. Daily specials even on weekends, and they even include a drink. My only "complaint" is the portions are a little small. However, the flavor makes up for that. Chips and salsa are great, I usually base my opinion on Mexican restaurants by their salsa. This salsa is good, kind of spicy and served warm. The chips are fresh. Bring the whole family, you won't be sorry!

Lizabeth G.

Yelp
I love this place! It is my favorite restaurant in Las Cruces! Delicious food, especially the flautas, chicharron burritos, and menudo. We've been coming here for years and it's our first choice for breakfast during the week and on weekends. The service is great too, though we miss Luis! We are definitely regulars who are loyal to Compa's because the staff makes us feel welcome and the food is fabulous. The atmosphere is warm and inviting. Plenty of parking. Compa's is the best!

Yelp
Solid local Mexican food. The green chili is good for sure. The service is a bit slow, but only because it's very busy. Ambiance is nice and even though it's busy it isn't crowded

Yelp
I've had lot of people swear by this place. It just didn't do it for me. I thought the Chile Relleno's were not so good because if was the off season but I had some great ones just down the street. In my opinion this is a restaurant to get a basic meal nothing fancy. I'm sure that works for many but this place is not my first choice.

Mick G.

Yelp
My family has been patronizing this restaurant for over 30 years and we continue to maintain it is the best Mexican-American restaurant in Las Cruces for their Saturday and Sunday breakfast special. The waitresses, Jasmin, Adrianna, and Crystal along with Luis are the best anywhere. Rudy and the other cooks always serve excellent dishes. For the price you cannot go wrong.
google avatar

Cesar P.

Yelp
Food was good, except that it wasn't what we had ordered. The funny thing is that they had screwed up twice! So look I said before, if you order to go make sure you check your order twice.
google avatar

Tara A.

Yelp
Annoying customer service. I don't know if she is the manager or owner but she was always taking orders when I visited here twice. Each time she gave incorrect change like 20 cents instead of 23 cents, or 75 cents instead of 79 cents. It is not a fortune to lose but... when I received a wrong amount of change twice in a row, I learned that this specific employee (or owner) or this restaurant has something wrong. Lazy to count coins correctly or intend to steal money from every customer? Also, she is rude rather than kind.

Yelp
Perfect way to start the day great food, Good service!! You order upfront and the server brings you your food.... Goodies were good and full of meat!!

Yelp
When I moved to Las Cruces, I started hunting for a place that sold good chimichangas. A chimi is my barometer: if they serve a good chimi, I will return and further explore the restaurant. Los Compas was one such restaurant that I tried, in this case, the location on Valley. I have only eaten there once, as they did not do a chimi, and I have since found other restaurants that I really like. I had fajitas, and they were nicely done. The service was decent, atmosphere typical New Mexico ultra-casual. I would have no problem eating there again if someone wanted to go there, but it won't be a primary destination for me.

Buen A.

Yelp
Things are a changing for Los Compas. Usually reliable and efficient service has become slow and tentative service. We stopped in Sunday about 11 am. We placed our order and took our seats confidant that a table full of deliciousness would soon arrive as they were not that busy. Forty minutes pass and we have noticed that several other tables were also food-less. I asked at the front counter when our order would be ready and was told it would "be right out". I asked about the delay and was told that a "large" phone order had taken priority over patrons in the restaurant. Our order arrived after a forty-five minute delay...and it was wrong! Los Compas' time has come and gone for us. Adios Los Compas!!

Yelp
My girlfriend and I went Los Campana for breakfast today. First sign it was going to be a bad experience is when we had to wait what seemed like forever. There were plenty of tables yet we waited and waited. Then we finally got seated and ordered our food. When we got our food the first thing I noticed that the portion size was very small. Then we asked for more chips because the chips they brought out was like half the normal amount. Then when we got our bill we noticed they charged us $2.50 for the chips. It was the first time ever that they charged us for the chips. In the past they had always given them to us for free. We asked the waitress about it and we got nothing but attitude. We said hey excuse me but you charged us for the chips. She said with an attitude, "We always do. It says so on the menu." I said well we didn't know that and they never have in the past. She said with a raised voice, " Well they are supposed to and I should know because I'm the supervisor." Her attitude made us decide we will never go back Los Comps on by Sams Club again. There are plenty of other restaurants that don't treat their customers with such disdain.

Ivette G.

Yelp
So yummy, but beware salsa is hot! I had the margarita and the tostadas compuestas. They were delicious. Service is good and friendly. It's become our end of the week treat.

Victor G.

Yelp
Near flavorless plate of food. I ordered the chile relleno plate with rice and beans for about $10, ALL had very, little flavor. Small portions of rice and beans, about 1/2 cup. The two rellenos had very little cheese inside. Over all, not satisfying and would rather have spent my money elsewhere :-( The drink was $2 extra.

Tommy K.

Yelp
I've been coming here for years and I continue to have great food and service. While that is so, i have only ordered the bean and cheese and chile relleno burritos. I love their homemade tortillas and their salsa which is more green chile than tomato based.

K C.

Yelp
Awesome! Authentic old school Mexican food! Best green salsa served with chips. Food was excellent. Love LOve LOVE ... Chile relleno burro. Tea has great flavor. Service fast staff friendly. A must try.

Sam K.

Yelp
This was a good place to eat but the owner decided to increase prices. I recommend going some where else that serves better Mexican food at a better price. If you see this Los Compas owner go back to the prices of your older menu. This is why when I was there the parking lot is dead and only 1 person in your restaurant
