Los Danzantes - Review - South Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"Los Danzantes ATX is a Mexican food truck parked at the music venue/bar The Far Out Lounge on South Congress. They have a short, focused menu, and it includes delicious and spicy Oaxacan tlayudas and an excellent beef quesabirria plate that comes with three tacos and a cup of rich and spicy consome." - Raphael Brion

Google
The owners/workers were nice no shade to the mbut you really can’t mess up tacos…. But these I was not a fan. I’m giving two stars because the chicken was huge fat pieces of fajita chicken and it wasn’t even double taco wrapped only single . There was no way to eat it properly like a taco and all the onions etc were on the side. Idk it was just not a place I’d go ever again particularly for chicken tacos. I didn’t try anything else. Also given the cost of $15 no bang for your buck.

Google
This has got to be some of the best birria in town. The birria ramen is amazing and the quesadilla is like a flour tortilla version of the birria tacos, awesome! The food came out quickly and the service was really great as well

Google
Amazing food! I loved every bite. The customer service was just as great. We had a few questions and he answered everyone. I am a vegetarian, they even had great options for me. My friend tried the barria tacos. She went back and purchased seconds she enjoyed it so much.

Google
Place is legit! Best birria tacos I’ve had in Austin. Seasoned meat and crispy shells. A lot of places have good meat but the shells suck. Los Danzantes does it right!

Google
$16 for 3 quesabirria tacos, so a bit more expensive than your average, but the size and quality is bigger and higher than your average. Food truck is parked at Far Out Lounge, so you're living the Austin dream when you're eating tacos on a nice day with some live music ✌️ Wished the chocoflan would be lighter and fluffier (my only feedback)

Google
I wanted to like it but the over charged on the order. The large tacos were okay. It just didn't meet the bar for Austin food truck standards. The corn tortillas felt dry and the chorizo just wasn't very tasty.

Google
Every time I come to Oaxaca to get away “Beautiful City” I stop by the restaurant. I tried to come for lunch and they said it was booked until 6:30pm, not true! I stayed and observed how busy they were, not good they had several tables open. They do have waisted space, no party of two seating all 4 to 6 seatings per table. They need to split the tables for party of two.

Google
🤮 We ordered birria tacos from this dump and found bone fragments in 2 tacos and threw the third one away. They also forgot to spend the consome with the order. Flavor was pretty bad and meat quality was garbage. The queso was barely edible. 🤮

Yelp
Amazing birra's - enough said. And while there drop over to Armadillo Den to grab their special cucumber & lime Ranch Water - what a combo

Yelp
Please note they are a food truck located at Far Out Lounge. This food was not good, it was GREAT! When you add friendly staff you can guarantee a customer for life and that is exactly what you get from Los Danzantes. My food was full of flavor, everything looked and tasted fresh. We were also so lucky to get a side of beans that just melt in your mouth. Anyone who knows me knows I love beans, but I promise you have never had beans this yummy. I would go back just for them too! My daughter and I were craving birria tacos after a long flight back home, and luckily this place was not out of our way from my dog sitter's house. We could not be any happier we stopped by. I live in north Austin and will be happy to make the trek back here anytime. Even more points for the great selection of beers that Far Out Longe has to choose from.

Yelp
An inconspicuous family-owned food truck that will surprise you with the amount of flavor they have packed in their birria tacos! Juicy, flavorful, and tender bites of beef and melty cheese with a side of gorgeous dipping broth. This was my first time trying birria style tacos, and it was one for the books! If you stop by the Far Out Lounge, you gotta give this spot a chance.

Yelp
My 2nd time trying birria tacos and they were event better! So good and glad they have a home at The Far Out

Yelp
Pretty lackluster food, especially given the amount of competition for Mexican food in this area. I'm really surprised by the other comments here. We split the birria plate ($16). The birria was literally just a little cup of unflavored beef fat, and the meat itself was completely unseasoned and bland. The tacos were extraordinarily greasy, to the extent that the tortillas had become saturated with orange paste. The tortillas were good quality, at least. They collect cell phone numbers that they use to notify you when your order is ready. I'm a bit concerned about whether they share or sell their cell phone number database.

Yelp
located in a food truck in a lot that sometimes has live music playing, the area is cute, surrounded by trees and lights as you're seated at picnic tables. i believe this is a family owned business (?) and they are very kind and welcoming. food took about 20ish mins, but also there was a long line of people there to get food. i got 3 birria tacos and they were actually very filling, so i was able to save one to eat later. they were extremely generous with the birria tacos, stuffing them with lots of meat and even filling the platter with extra toppings like onion and jalapeños. the consome on the side was also flavorful and have chickpeas in them! the salsa was also delicious, with a perfect amount of spiciness to them! they're yummy, but i didn't find it to be anything too spectacular. overall, this is a cute little place for some solid tacos that are nice and filling! you can also maybe listen to some live music while you're at it! *i went here during yelp's free taco week

Yelp
Clearly, anyone daring to rate this place below four stars is just not worthy of its greasy glory. So, to the clueless souls who wrote bad reviews complaining about the "flavor" or the grease, take a trip back to culinary kindergarten and stick to your Torchy's, because this place serves up authentic Birria for the enlightened few. And to those shocked by orange tortillas, newsflash: they're supposed to be it comes from. The way they are cooked. Before you unleash your review, make sure you know your grease from your lard. Or, better yet, indulge in some deep-fried avocado at Chuy's - it may not be Mexican, but at least it won't stain your tortillas. This is the kind of greasy goodness that's perfect for those mornings-after when youre hungover and need to rally for a soccer game with the boys or you just got dumped and want to eat your feelings. Embrace the ugly my friend, and savor every deliciously greasy bite.

Yelp
We came to the Far Out Lounge to see the Battle Of The Bands. When it came time to eat during one of the intermissions we decided to get tacos. Since I am a picky eater I had to really look at the menu and made the decision to get the Tlayuda Oaxaqueña. I originally thought I was going to ask them to 86 some items but I changed my mind. It was an extra large crispy corn tortilla , pork lard, beans, cheese, chorizo and cabbage. I asked if the chorizo was spicy and I was told it was not. It didn't taste spicy either. My daughter on the other hand picked the same menu item as mine but 86'd everything except the cheese. She didn't care for it but instead decided that since I still had everything on my she ate half. I feel like it must be good if she ate it. I can say that I will probably follow them wherever they go and who knows I might try more items.

Yelp
Came back again! In fact, we've become biweekly regulars at the Far Out Lounge because of Los Danzantes... I can't tell you how amazing the food, they're service, their personality and cheer, is. They're amazingly passionate people, you can feel it. But let's be clear, it's about the culture, and making sure you participate, appreciate it. They're amazing ambassadors for Oaxacan fare. The Tlayuda is different than anything you've tasted before. It's massive, intimidating and delicious but it's not as heavy as it looks. The birria tacos with cheese are as heavy as they look. By my are they special. The crispiness, the meats flavor, the cheese and then you dip it into the consume...wowser. The thing is, they know food, they excel at it. But I think they're specialty is the experience they give you, that's next level. Their passion is sincere, their talent undeniable and their future unlimited.

Yelp
I met some girlfriends at the Far Out Lounge for happy hour this Thursday night. Los Dazantes is one of the trucks on location there, and it had caught my eye with their birria tacos. I walked over to their truck and asked the gentleman out front if I should go with the birria tacos or the birria quesadillas. He immediately answered tacos, so I went with his recommendation. They were ready in about ten minutes. I genuinely thought three tacos was going to be too much food for me, but my gosh - they were so good! The consume is perfect, and the tacos were prepared wonderfully. They were not as messy as birria tacos I had previously had, and they came with little toppings on the side to load up into the taco. I was very impressed with them. I polished all three off in a short amount of time. It's a great comfort food on a cold January night.

Yelp
This is our go-to place for delicious Birria tacos in Austin. They have the freshest ingredients and the food has an authenticity unlike any other! Good vibes, good food, good people.

Yelp
Really sweet team but we were not impressed by the food - the quesadilla was bland and nothing special really. At those prices, and publicity, I expected some creativity, some creations. This food truck is more hype, less flavor.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic birria tacos. I've had a bunch of birria in Austin and these are my favorite so far. Amazing consume, meat is so tender and flavorful...and the cheese...just perfect. Come try these guys out. Super friendly owner and family. I would be here every week if lived closer.

Yelp
Went to this gem of a place last weekend for brunch. Best chilaquiles I've had in Austin in a very very long time! Tried the verde and rojo and still Couldn't decide on my fave. Will make this a regular spot for us. The owner is very nice and made us feel like we were eating at our own backyard.

Yelp
If you like Birria....you're going to love this place! If you've never had Birria but like tacos....you're going to love the Birria tacos from this place! I had been wanting Birria tacos for awhile. When I heard this place was located in the back area of the far out lounge, my wife and I took a drive over there to grab some food. We were blown away with the tacos. Super good! This food truck will be going into our rotation for sure.

Yelp

Yelp
I came for the Motown Monday revue to see friend is the show and noticed lots of food trucks. We decided to try the birria tacos from los Dazantes and was not disappointed! These things are awesomely tasty!

Yelp
Mere words cannot convey how flipping delicious the birria quesatacos were. The broth was thick and bursting with flavor. The best I've ever had (so far).... Oh and don't forget to add their salsa macha! That stuff is gold and they actually sell it by the jar!!
google avatar

Yelp
AMAZING Birria tacos! It's hard to find Birria plates with no cheese! But this place has them and they're soooooo goood. I am definitely going to be a new regular!!! Do not skip these tacos!

Yelp
Inside the Far out Lounge. Best birria tacos I've had. Worth the drive from North Austin. Tacos are full of flavor and meat. Very juicy, and the conzume is excellent. They sold out as soon as we ordered our tacos. We will be coming back for more!

Elizabeth P.

Yelp
So good and super friendly! At a great venue so you can grab a bite and listen to some live music

Yelp
Wow. Best tacos in town! It's located at the Far Out Lounge. My husband and I have been here for take out 3-4 times the past couple of weeks. I am so so so glad that we live right down the street. My husband and I get off of work at 5pm and we are usually starving because we work without lunch... and we wait that extra hour after work until los danzantes opens at 6pm just to eat here... we wish they would open at 5pm but can't complain because they taste so good! We usually get there 6pm sharp to put in our order lol. You have the option to buy the birria consome separately and even the leftover consome tastes amazing the following day with rice.. the meat quality AND quantity in their al pastor tacos is on another level.. oh and just look at the cute way they cut their radishes!! The owners are beyond lovely and always so kind. We look forward to getting takeout from here every Thursday and Friday and finish the week off with a glass of home made ranch water.

Susan S.

Yelp
Really good but total came to $20.78 (!) for three teeny tacos with an extra consomme. OUTRAGEOUS. Probably won't get it again.
