I used to come to this place because the food is good until today I wish I could give them 0 stars. I order mole verde with chicken as soon as my husband tried it he could taste that the chicken was spoiled we told the lady and she offered another plate so we change it to pork instead, when we told the manager about the chicken he denied it was spoiled and said that it was still good. We are not the kind of people who complains for no reason but they should take it seriously because people can get really sick for eating bad food.

This is one of those kinda hole in the wall vibes so you know it's good. When you go be prepared to WAIT, and let me tell you why this isn't a bad thing. They make all the tortillas from scratch (which I don't have to tell you isn't that common). It's literally two ladies throwing down in the kitchen and absolutely killing it. The food reminds me of when my family cooks for me. They don't get the full 5 because there has been a few times they'll forget something but just give them a gentle reminder and take care of it. That's just how busy they get.

Food here is authentic and the prices are great! I live near by and it's one of my go-to spots whenever I don't feel like cooking!!

Great tortillas, however the food is a little bland and the salsas are very mild. The horchata is decent. Theres a parking lot outside, and the service was super fast, and they take credit cards. Overall, a good experience, but just decent food.

I wouldn’t recommend here! The beans were sour and spoiled ! I just went here yesterday and I got the barbacoa plate and the beans were sour as hell and the rice was over cooked ! My mom ordered menudo with feet and they didn’t give her feet and the pieces of meat in there were hard as a rock. They never gave us forks or our drinks, but as soon another customer walks in they are treated very nice and got everything for them , forks , napkins, drinks. The tortillas were cold. Just really bad place to spend your money.

If there were more stars I would give them more! This place is amazing! The tortillas are all handmade and delicious! The portions are very generous! The flavors are incredible. My husband and I got steak and Al pastor tacos, steak hurauches, Mexican steak quesadilla and horchata. My husband has been looking for a good handmade tortilla for a long time and he’s found it! He was moved to tears! Although the tortillas are homemade right there on the spot, the food came out fast and hot! Do not sleep on this place!

The last two times that I go to this place was a total waste of money and time. The food was really bland, it feel like they just reheated on the microwave and the rice was overcooked and hard was dry as a drywall plus the beans were spoiled they taste nasty and the lady taking the orders don't know anything about customer service, she is very rude I ask her for a fork and she was like look for it she threw the napkins over the counter and she gets mad when I asked for my drink .. today was my last time there.

OMG!! One of the best tacos I have eaten in a long time. They made their tortillas on the spot for your meal. Just delicious! They an extended menu. Just be patient because is a small place to eat in and tjey had a lot of to go orders....but totally worth it .

Not at all a fancy restaurant but I assure you this place is a 100% traditional Mexican gem. I'm Mexican and the food taste just like mom's cooking. Home made tortillas, made to order food and reasonable prices. It's also a tortilleria FYI

La verdad no me gusta dar malos reviews pero siempre paso por masa y pues pensé que como son mujeres en la cosina iba a estar buena la comida y no pedí un burrito en peor burrito que eh probado salado la carne dura y aparte quien le pone queso fresco a un burrito la salsa no se dija la roja parecía que estaba comiendo agua con tomate jamas vuelvo a comer

I stop by for lunch Sm place order pay and enjoy later I order 2 picaditas and 1 huarache whit cecina ( salty mexican steak) Is hard to cut the steak whit the plastic uensils..... They also hace coffee whit coffee mate (powder) taste terrible Drink it black I will try the menudo next time ( look good) They accept Chash & cards too parking available

Authentic Mexican food is the best !:)) found this gem since I was craving tamales. Definitely worth it !

Honestly some of the best tacos I've had in Chicago. The freshly made corn tortillas were unbelievable. The asada and the al pastor had a great crisp and char to them. Love the outdoor patio as well

You know how most soft taco joints double up on their corn tortillas so the ingredients don't melt through to your fingers? Well most soft tacos joints are doing it wrong. Los Gamas' beautifully thick, freshly made to order tortillas will change your idea of the right way to make a soft taco. The tortillas are really thick and completely delicious. The masa is the key to Los Gamas. Sold by the pound, during my wait for a to-go lunch I observed a hand full of people come through, just to pick up bags of the raw dough to cook at home or at other restaurants. The building is a little rough around the edges. Not to say it's rough in a bad way... just that it's not particularly welcoming. The interior walls are painted with a variety of bible verses, and there is a random tv in the corner playing the favorite sports of the day. In addition to the flavorful and brightly flavored chorizo soft tacos and pastor soft tacos, I had to try the picadas. Basically little gravy boats covered in your choice of red or green sauce. Red being smokey, green being fiercely hot with an insane cumulative effect. After the tacos covered in the green, the picadas filled me with an overwhelming endorphin rush that sent the room spinning. Good stuff!

Where do I start. About 2 months ago I came here for masa which by the way is grate. While waiting to order the masa I decided to get 4 tacos de asada. I went to the restaurant section order my tocas and a agua de horchata. I then went to the other side of the restaurant to order my masa. Which it did not take long to prepare my order. I then went to my car and wait for my tacos to be ready. After about 20 minutes I went back inside and assumed my tacos were ready since there was no customers inside ordering or waiting for there food. I went to the counter and asked if my food was ready. To my surprise they had forgot about my order and the worst part is they lied to me telling me they were busy and had just got to my order. Which that is a lie because I was part right outside the front door and did not see anyone come in for at least 20 minutes. Plus when I went to the counter and ask for my food there where no orders ready waiting to be picked up. So as I wait for my food going on to 40 minutes now. The the lady in charge of the register asked the lady cook who were the tacos she was preparing for. The cook tells the register lady in Spanish so para el Gordo. That means the fat person. Which I now she was referring to me since I was the only one there and I was told when I went to pick up my tacos that she had just started cooking my tacos. So yes the fat comment she made was about me. The masa section employees are really nice to bad I can't say the same about the restaurant employees. Today again I decided to get more masa as I was waiting by the door the person Thani g masa orders asked me if I was getting food or masa. I told him I was getting both. He tells me I can take both your orders here. I said grate I ordered my masa and again it was fast. So the guy tells my if I was driving I told him yes. He tells me you can take your masa and wait in your car and when the food is ready he will take it to me. I said that's grate I figured they reminded Themselves from lady time. Boy was I wrong after waiting in my car for 25 minutes I went inside and ask for my food. This time I was not the only one there but I was the only one waiting for food. The other customers were waiting for masa. When I went to ask for my tacos the cook tells me we justedades started cooking them and yes she did. She threw a big pile of chopped asada meet on the grill and she did not even cook it fully al she did was wait till the meet was no long red and she started making my tacos. The meet had no flavor and some of the small pieces of meat where still red on the inside as I was eating them. I do not recommend this restaurant to any one the service is lousy and they are very unprofessional. The masa section I do recommend but not the food area. Management needs to focus more on the restaurant section more other wise someone is going to get sick with the uncooked meat they are serving. Very unsatisfied customer. I was going to give this place no starts but I had to give it one start in order to post my review. SAD VARY SAD

This place is off the map. I don't even think Pokemon Go works in the parking lot. There's a sign but the wooden fence in front of the building and the frosted glass makes you think that it's closed. We ventured here for the choriqueso (chorizo and cheese mixed) which is an uncommon menu item at taco joints. The tacos themselves were a bit disappointing and not quite the queso fondido that I was expecting but they were large and filling. Instead, it tasted like a chorizo taco topped with melted cheese. I'll have to continue my search for an awesome choriqueso taco. They might have other items that they are better known for though.

These tortillas are probably the best tasting tortillas I've ever had. I recently discovered that they also cook here. YUMMY! I picked up some quesadillas w chorizo. It was so delicious and some steak tacos and wow! Super delicious. I wish there was more cheese in my tacos but still delicious ... I highly recommend you try their tortillas. I have not seen them in stores but i guess that's a good thing.

I like their picaditas and red enchiladas stuffed with cheese! Handmade tortillas! I like places that don't use canned beans! I felt these beans are legit! I had a great lunch from here! I would like to see more vegetarian options too! But delicious food overall!

Chorizo quesadilla was great. Chicken taco was okay. Limited options for taco fillings on the day I ate there. Very interesting looking non- taco items on the menu. Needless to say, the tortillas are excellent.

It's a little confusing when you first walk in - you order at one counter and pay at another and literally everything is in Spanish. I always think my Spanish is solid but then get stage fright whenever I actually want to use it so it took me a few minutes to adjust but by then we had already stumbled our own way in English through our order and sat down. The wait was a little long but they had some telenovelas playing to keep us entertained. We got the carne asada and the choriqueso tacos. The choriqueso was a basically a spin of queso fundido but on a taco. And these tacos were. so. good. Seriously, my friend and I didn't realize how long it had been since we had had tacos that were as good as these tacos. WE FORGOT TO ASK FOR CHEESE FOR THE CARNE ASADA TACOS and they were still so dope. Honestly, so good. so so so good. We restricted ourselves to two because we had a second location to go to, but I could have had more. Were they the absolute best tacos we've had? No. But that didn't stop them from being awesome and recommendation-worthy.

This review is solely for the masa. I came here to get masa for tamales and pozole grains the morning of Christmas eve 2016. The parking lot is a death trap, do not go in even if you think you see a spot. Park on Armitage or Kimball or just take the bus. The wait was not too long for being so last minute and the people in the back were working up a storm. The masa is great but the pozole grains were tiny. This is the only tortilleria I know of in the area and we definitely keep coming back. Plus we received a free calendar with our purchase! Tamales and pozole was enjoyed by the fam on Christmas and that's what matters.

Stopped in today for a carne asada torta & my hubby had the enchiladas. The bread looked like it had been sitting there & was half eaten. There was Parmesan cheese in my torta! Disgraceful!!! The whole thing was disgusting I couldn't even eat it.. you can see the picture for yourself!! Don't go there it's disgusting, & I don't think they have heat it was freezing !!

The dichotomy of biblical passages in English written on the walls and a slain conquistador under the foot of a victorious Aztec gave me cause for concern. The promise of fresh tortillas was the lure. Unfortunately the excitement diminished quickly as we ordered while a propane tank hissed warmth into the dining room from behind a barricade of ladder and chair. The pastor taco was so over marinated and un-fresh it was difficult to discern where the marinade started and the meat finished, the tortilla was stale and over cooked . The chorizo taco was rancid, one bite and it went into the trash. We decided to abandon tacos and shared a seemingly safe asada burrito. It was average. As a few other reviewers have stated, greasy! If you are an opioid addict and have trouble pooping come on down, they get you flowing. While I paid I could peep into the distressed tortilla factory, evangelical Christian books in a pile. Kind of a dirty place. Caution when pulling into the parking lot, suspension crushing potholes abound. I also think this place doubles as a used car lot, or something equally sinister.

First time came to this place and I was really disappointed with the service they were not not ready to serve because they opened at 10 a.m, but it was 10:20 a.m. They need a training on how to do customer service. Staring with the guy who was attending the register he is either the owner or the manager.

This place is the hole in the wall that you are so glad you found! Seating is tight, if you are lucky to get a table. It looks closed when you first drive up, but step on in to be pleasantly surprised. The tacos are so to die for! Fresh handmade tortillas. Need I say more? Hefty servings of meat on them and topped with cilantro and onions. The salsas are spicey Watch it! Ask for limes. If you buy a plate, the ladies keep the fresh handmade tortillas comming. They didn't even charge us for the extra tortillas. Been here a few times and if you go later in the day, they might run out of one type of meat, but get whatever else and I'm sure you'll be happy. Small menu, with dinner plates they change up, but no matter what, it's all delish.

Their corn tortillas changed the game for me. I'm of the shitty hang-head-in-shame variety who often prefers a flour tortilla to corn; it's not that I don't like the flavor, it's just sometimes I find myself needing pulls of horchata or water to get bites of a taco down when it's surrounded in a grainy, corny casing. Their tortillas, tho. Fluffy, soft, delicious, life changing. I could eat them smothered in butter and nothing else and be contented forEVER. I've had their al pastor tacos which were delicious, served with fat on (which I like) and crushed pineapple pieces. My boyfriend and I also buy their bags of tortilla chips which have now replaced El Milagro chips in my pantry. Go here. Trust. P.S. It ain't anything to look at unless you like a scrappy, divey restaurant with bible verses(?) quotes (?) on the wall.

Let me begin by saying that I'm Latina & I was raised in a household where traditional warm home cooked meals, of rice, beans, salsa, & tortillas (all home made) were served warm every single day. All this to say, that I was truly disappointed by this joint. It was by far past a dive joint status. It was dingy, no salsa, no chips (what ?) Oh, did I mention that there was a cable box hanging mid air ? Yes, it was mangled underneath the TV sitting up in the corner of the room. (red flags) When I received my order: The beans were cold, runny, the rice (cold) lacked salt, flavor, & the texture was interesting. ( I'm a huge rice fan) there were crunchy pieces of rice blended in the rice. (not a good sign at all) I ordered cheese flautas dinner/ beans & rice. They said it was "beans & rice." I don't know why I thought this would be a good option. My mother always said the cheese basically breaks down & hardens when deep fried. By the way, she is an excellent cook! I basically had hollow deep fried tortillas with scarce strings or webs of hardened cheese. Needless to say, I took my plate back & told them I was displeased with the food. He didn't seem to concerned about my comment. Why would anybody claim this place was "amazing?" Lastly, my husband ordered tacos. He has traveled all over the world including to Mexico city & to my mothers kitchen in California to have homemade tacos. He rated the tacos a 5. (I think he was being generous) This place was negative in the stars category point, blank, period. (sadly I was forced to choose 1 star in order to post) Next !!

This is the only place I know that serves regular sized tacos, made with home made tortillas. Sopes are amazing!! Just good ole home cooked Mexican food. Could be more modern, but reminds me of Mexico through and through

We moved into the neighborhood and decided to try out the local taco joints. This place was great and we've come back twice.! The tortillas are made fresh on the spot when you order. We had the asada, choriqueso and al pastor tacos and all were wonderful. Huevos rancheros were also delicious. We had the flan today with lunch and it was very good. If you need to try one thing, try the choriqueso tacos.

I'm extremely happy and extremely disappointed all at once. I've seen this joint for quite a while now, but never bothered to go in until today. The carne asada was rather underwhelming, but $#*t!!! Those homemade tortillas, were awesome, it's like they offset the lack of quality in the meat while making you mad because the meat couldn't keep up with the dang tortillas!! Overall I would definitely return especially considering the price. I REALLY hope management reads our reviews, because this place should be top five in the city!

I live in the neighborhood and even though it's been here for a year now I just made it in yesterday. It was an easy Tuesday afternoon and I came hungry & ordered to go. I was going to try their sopes but opted for the vegetarian version of that. They were like these cheesy onion mexican style pizzas. Simple and delicious and at a great price point. They were so incredibly kind and proud of their product I ended up buying some tortillas for dinner and they INSISTED I try one of their pork tamales & their hot masa chocolate drink on the house. If there wasn't a counter there I'd have hugged them. The tamale was as perfect as their service. I'll be back!

I'm new to Logan Square and searched for a good Mexican place. I was very pleased with this place. Third time really is a charm. I tried two in the area with better remarks and this was by far the best. The food was very fresh, was definitely a home cooked vibe and the price was unbelievable! I ordered two chicken quesadilla's and they did not skimp on the ingredients that's for sure. It was quite filling and I could of easily just ordered one and be satisfied. The price of the two total was under $5, any other place would have charged double if not triple. I noticed a lot of complaints about the parking lot which I find hilarious. It's a parking lot! I'm grateful to see any place with its own parking lot!

1st review of this joint! I feel like an urban davey crocket! This place is primarily a dirty tortillas factory. Secondarily, they make food for you to consume. The food ranges from quite tasty to scarily unpalatable. The chorizo taco was killer. Nice fresh spongy masa tortilla. The rest was pretty meh. ASADA was just plain bad. Not fresh. My colon hates me.

We read about Las Gamas in the Tribune's review of great taco places you've never heard of. We were a little put off at first by the lackluster decor (and if you approach from Armitage it looks closed), but once we stared talking with the lovely people and ate the terrific food, we felt right at home. The Trib had praised their special Choriqueso taco, a heady mixture of chorizo and cheese. This was amazing. I said, "It's Iike the taste of the best Mexican cheeseburger you can imagine!" the homemade tortillas were made right on the spot from scratch. You can't get that from a bag. They used the same masa to make hot chocolate, yum. The lady behind the counter was friendly and helpful and patient with our attempts at Spanish... And we would make a special trip back just for the choriquseo taco. Maravilloso!

Food is extremely greasy, when they first opened this place was great enjoyed it a lot now it's always a taco full of grease.

Fantastic tacos with FRESH, in house masa, plus masa by-the-pound for sale. Their tamales and antojitos are excellent as well. Plus, outdoor seating. Seriously, why aren't you here right now?

Came in last night with a hankering for some tacos. And boy did they deliver! I had 2 chorizo tacos and one taco asada. The chorizo tacos were some of the best tacos I've ever had! Fresh made tortillas really sealed the deal for me. Pretty quick service and a friendly staff. Pretty limited seating inside though.

Amazing tacos with fresh, handmade tortillas. It's a small space but they also have outdoor seating. Plus it's BYOB!! You can't beat it!! Try the choriqueso tacos. Yummy!!!

If you're looking for a traditional joint, this isn't it. There was a thick coating of what seemed like store bought parmesan cheese over everything. Was not impressed with the food.
