"If there were an LA Mount Rushmore dedicated to Salvadoran food, Los Molcajetes would definitely be on it. This place started as a successful food truck back in the 1970s, but now has a handful of locations around the central LA area, each serving some of the city’s tastiest pupusas. Make sure to try their rice flour pupusas, which take on a similar color to the corn version, but with a distinctive chewiness we love. Common fillings like chicharron, cheese, and loroco are all on the menu, but so is the way-less-common vegan cheese pupusa. The curtido is delicious and simple with cabbage and carrot, and the tomato salsa serves as a light, spicy dressing to drench your entire order in. You can get your griddle cakes individually, as part of the double pupusa combo, or our favorite option: the desayuno típico. You’ll get two small pupusas (filling of your choosing), alongside some morning eggs and chorizo." - Sylvio Martins

Google
Great place for good pupusas! They have a variety of food and soups. Great service and very clean atmosphere. This is NOT a cash only restaurant, they take all major credit cards and mobile pay.

Nicole Montgomery

Google
Finally, I tried this place since I live in the neighborhood. Great food, atmosphere, and service. Loved everything I ordered, and it was so fresh and authentic. I'll definitely be going back

Carlos Soto

Google
This place has the best salvi food 😋 hands down , the people the food, you must stop and experience it you will not regret and become a regular!

Juan Barillas

Google
Ordered to go some pupusaa and were pretty filling. The place also looked clean and new. I would go back and try a few more items from their menu

Kymm Rodriguez

Google
Super good :) Food has double in price Which is understandable with this economy and new location in the that for Korea town

Wendy Bonilla

Google
New place same menu and new addition into their menu, just had dinner with my family and totally 💯 recommend this place! The management team is amazing welcoming restaurant staff were a little overwhelmed but regardless of that they were able to get the orders right and they were courteous, respectful and helpful super friendly and nice!! I am truly impressed with the place and how well they are doing I am very pleased as well my family too and we will come back!!! It’s highly recommended!!!

Sherry Lopez

Google
The pupusas are not just huge but come in different sizes too! And you won’t believe how budget-friendly they are—I thought there must have been a mistake with the prices. They were absolutely delicious! Oh, and that fruit salad drink? Total game changer! It was so refreshing! I found some metered parking nearby, and there’s also a parking structure right behind the restaurant, which made things super convenient. We didn’t have to wait long to be seated, though I did notice the service was a little on the slow side when it came time to get the bill. Overall, it was great.

Google
This location is great. We had the sample platter, plus a variety of drinks. Each item very tasty. We especially loved the Pupusas (Cheese and Zucchini versions) and the Platanos Fritos. The garlic shrimp looked very enticing as well.Very friendly and knowledgeable staff. Can't wait to go back!

Elizabeth Z.

Yelp
Delicious authentic food Very friendly and attentive service! Will definitely come back the pupusas are a great size

Aleesa R.

Yelp
The food is so good here. Service is so quick and easy. Small cute place just no parking at all. They do to-go orders which is the way to go! Best pupusas I've had in LA, ever.

Luz T.

Yelp
These are hands down my favorite and will drive from Long Beach just for them! They're so big and filling and have a great flavor.

Bella A.

Yelp
We have been coming here since i was 13 it's our favorite pupusas. We now live in the valley and we still make the drive to eat them. Everyone is always welcoming and they have music playing. It's a small restaurant and sometimes they do have wait times. They do have another location close by but this location does it best and much nicer people If you ever in the are definitely try some pupusas

angelica s.

Yelp
I love this little mom and pop store! It's definitely my go to when I'm craving authentic delicious, fresh, hot, cheesy, fully loaded goodness that a good pupusa has to offer. I recommend calling 10 minutes before picking up because they are made fresh, it takes time and we all know good food takes time. By the time I got there my order was ready and waiting for me, they take card and cash which is good for those who forget to bring cash. I always go with the revulta pupusa and the curtido it comes with along with their hot sauce is absolutely what dreams are made of. Parking: the lot is a bit tight but there's free parking! Give this place a try! You will not be disappointed, and if you are.... Something is wrong with your taste buds....

Julia L.

Yelp
Parking might be tough, but the food makes it worth it. Small establishment, so I would recommend avoiding peak times or come before you are hungry. The portions are generous, but who does not enjoy a to-go. Everything is so delicious and authentic. PS there is meter parking on the side.

Alexis D.

Yelp
Comida riquisima - servicio excelente, y que se puede decir de las super mujeres que trabajan en casa de atras como todas unas chefs. Saludos y bendiciones! Salvadoran flavas all day!!!

Dinorah A.

Yelp

Nathalie R.

Yelp
Best pupusas in Ktown. My favorite is the cheese and beans. This is the go to spot for our office lunches. The pupusas are large and everyone is stuffed with 2. The salsa is good and the cole is always fresh. I've never eaten inside because we always get take out. Downside: The parking is a mess!

LadyLoops L.

Yelp
Best pupusas that this Mexican has ever tasted ! They are filled all the way to the rim with the goey cheese and chicharrón filling (you pick whatever filling you'd like) and don't have that annoying thick masa pizza crust edge like the ones in La Flor blanca or any other Salvadorian restaurant, always other restaurants their pupusas are mostly dough and only have some filling in the middle , these are always fresh , been coming here for maybe 20yrs and I have never had a bad experience or have been served food that wasn't fresh , waitresses are great and I hope people tip generously, this isn't the best area & parking sucks , but it's worth it . You can also call and order for take out . Oohh the drip coffee is also good , im a black coffee drinker and I was shocked to taste that it's not watered down for the ones that like sugar warm coffee flavored water , another plus !

Melissa V.

Yelp
Horrible service. I placed an order today around 12:30pm with an expected pick-up time for 1:15pm. I arrive about 10mins early and the guy at the service counter says it'll be another 20mins. I go outside for 20mins and when I come back in I approach the counter and I'm completely ignored. A few delivery drivers approach the counter and are helped immediately, as I'm standing there still waiting to be helped. The lady that previously saw me inside the first time finally asks me for the name on the order and at this point I'm upset solely due to the fact that the lack of customer service was absurd after witnessing others get helped before me even though I was standing right there in front. No heads up on how much longer it'll be, no apologies for the inconvenience on the extra time, nothing. The fact that it took maybe 10-15mins to even be addressed is ridiculous.

Alan D.

Yelp
Awesome and authentic. Pupusas are the bomb. Tamales are very good too. Attentive and caring staff, they act like they know they have to keep up with the reputation of the place.

Donna L.

Yelp
Great customer service friendly, the food is delicious Pupusas de queso con loroco so good and yuca frita delicious

Brian C.

Yelp
Bien Rico todo the food is great my go to spot parking is tough but the food is worth it

Brandon L.

Yelp
As of recently, they have revamped and made food and service much better. Any negative review more then a year and older should be taken with a grain of salt, due this fact. However evaluation is at the consumers choice. (I'm not sponsored, I'd just suck d*ck for their food) For a general safe and always delicious bet, I'd highly recommend the pupusas revueltas. They're flavorful and huge, so they're worth their price. If you're feeling different, I'd get a caldo de pollo, or a fried mojara. These salvadorean classics will provide with a taste of their culture and will not disappoint either.

Rosa G.

Yelp
I am Salvadorian and the pupusas are the worst I have ever had. The chicarrón inside the revuelta had a weird taste like almost a stench. The frijoles were bitter. I couldn't finish the pupusas. I think there was either a change of ownership or cook but it wasn't like this during covid.

Jacks W.

Yelp
First time trying pupusas, so worth it I had the revuelta and chicharron pupusas de maiz

Marcy P.

Yelp
I'm Salvadoran, if you want to go to a legit spot that serves food from the Motherland this is it. Best Pupusas, my favorite are the Pupusas de Arroz con frijol y queso.

Marcela S.

Yelp
Customer service was really good, but the food wasn't the best. My pupusas didn't seem freshly made and were a bit dry. One thing I would recommend would be the empanadas desert.

Daniel C.

Yelp
Yoooo these pupusas are huge! (That's what she said!) But all kidding aside, I ordered 3 revuelta (pork, cheese and bean) and I could only finish 1.5 of them Hahaha embarrassing AF. Well, to be fair, it's probably because I finished about half the container of curtido...oops! But that shit was so damn good! It get pretty packed in there, so expect to wait if you're not early enough to beat the dinner rush. Also, parking is terrible, so if you're local, I suggest you scooter over.

Erika S.

Yelp
This specific location has the best pupusas (no lie). I've had pupusas from countless places and they cannot top los Molcajetes. I've had their revueltas, cheese and beans, cheese and loroco and plain cheese pupusas. They're all bomb. Their curtido is also tasty and they aren't stingy with it nor their sauce. Not just that, their pupusas are huge! Worth the price! Too bad that I moved but whenever I go back to Ktown, I'll make sure to stop by! I've never dined in, always placed my order to go and over the phone. They were normally ready in 20 min or less. That was a big plus for me!

Chris M.

Yelp
Everyone at work decided to collectively get Pupusas for lunch today and as luck would have it I was the designated delivery guy... Lucky for me Los Molcajetes was easy to find with the top notch directions from my co-worker who usually makes the run. This was my first time eating at Los Molcajetes, so I kept an open mind even though this place came with good recommendations from my co-workers. I ordered 3 pupusas, as per my usual pupusa order anywhere else but was surprised to say the least when I saw the size of my order (and I can put it away like nobodies business) It was love at first bite, the pupusa was soft and filled with the best gooey cheese and pork. The cabbage and salsa (I'm not actually sure what they are called) were delicious on their own but when combined with the pork flavored pupusa it was absolute bliss. The prices were very good for what you got, service was good considering we ordered over 20 pupusas for all the guys and I was glad we called ahead. They had a very organized socially distanced window for ordering/paying and another window for pick up. Parking was a bit challenging in their small lot and the neighborhood would definitely be a bit sketchy after dark but overall the food was fantastic and I would love to get all my pupusas from here from now on, just next time I'll let somebody else drive, Aloha

Mims F.

Yelp
The food is decent, about 3.5 stars but the service is beyond insulting, if I could give them negative stars I would! The old ladies in here have absolutely no customer service whatsoever. They are rude, and act as if they're feeding you for free. There's no manager on staff ever so you can't even try to proactively give them positive criticism. They are poorly managed and to be quiet honest they don't care. They need to really take the time and put in effort to properly train them on what customer service is, this would benefit their business immensely! CONS: Wait time is too long Customer service is non existing Cash only Parking sucks PROS: Decent food not like grandmas but at least they try to make it fresh.

Erick V.

Yelp
Vengo llegando de San Francisco para que luego me saquen sin ninguna justificación solo por escuchar mi llamada telefónica es algo que nunca me a pasado que patético el encargado

Ako F.

Yelp
I find here because near Chuck E. Cheese for my son. Very reasonable price and tasty.Pupusa is very popular and yum!!!

Sonia P.

Yelp
When I'm craving something traditional (nothing more traditional than pupusas ) for a Salvadorean in LA i have tried tons and tons of restaurants that have "authentic Salvadorean food and this spot has it for me . The pupusas are always tasty and consistent. A little bit expensive i would say because a pupusas could cost you around 4-5 depending on how you like them. This time I decided to order their panes con pollo which is chicken in a tomato sauce with cucumbers, tomatoes, radishes and watercress in a bolillo topped with sauce . I gotta say this was pretty good but the bread seemed kinda old and i wish they would've put mayo or escabeche like I'm used to eating them instead they just put curtido which is kind of weird for me because when i think about my culture is not the way i was brought up . In the other hand, i also tried the empanadas and in my opinion the custard really wasn't all that good and there's too little of it. It felt like i was just eating platanos . I recommend the ensalada it's refreshing and taste pretty natural so I'd get that again. Overall its overpriced but you can't go wrong with their pupusas .

Heidi A.

Yelp
Long story short... I misunderstood an appt I had scheduled so came to LA mistakenly. I had time to spare so why not have an LA food day instead? To that, I said heeelllll yes. Walked around k-town then made my way to macarthur park area where I set my sights on finding a pupuseria. This place had good reviews so I decided to give it a try. It's situated in a tiny little shopping center but is very visible with lots of signage. Very limited parking so beware. it's a quaint little business but with a really homey feel. I loved the service I received from the man upfront. He was very nice and cordial and took my order with such friendliness. It's definitely a locals place-- many patrons walking in were greeted like family by the man and he seemed to be familiar with many guests. Ordered my pupusas; one loroco con queso (loroco is a fragrant, edible flower bud that is common to Salvadoran dishes. I think it tastes very good and has a unique flavor) and the other pupusas was a frijol con queso. I also ordered some empanadas (Salvadoran beans encased in yummy plantain mixture). I don't know what it is about Salvadoran red beans but they're so delicious. Maybe it's the salt but whatever.... haha. I crave these every so often after trying them in El Sal a few years back. I paid $6.20 for two pupusas and an additional $5 for three large empanadas. I think it's fairly priced. Also the pupusas are really huge, biggest I've had here in the states. Bigger than your face! So glad I came here. Every time I eat pupusas/salvi food I'm reminded of the motherland and eating here was a great experience in every aspect. Great service, affordable food, delicious pupusas and empanadas. Next time I'd like to try other platters and maybe some pastelitos (meat filled breads).

Nolan D.

Yelp
Making the long drive to make an order of 30 of there pupusas. We Previous talked to the lady that answered the phone the night before she explained that the sale going on was 50% off if spent over $100. The sale was for today but that we would be able to go and put an order in, pay for it with the 50% off today and then pick up tomorrow for new years eve. Well when we got to the restaurant the man at the window did not want to honor the 50% off as he explained that she wasn't supposed to tell us that. Its very unprofessional and just bad customer service to not honor something that one of your own employees said they would honor. Made this long drive once and wont be doing it anymore. We will take our business elsewhere for pupusas for tomorrow.

Ashlee C.

Yelp
Customer service sucks as well as their parking. Ive been coming here for a couple years now used to be my favorite pupusa place. The cheese was real cheese now they have changed it to the cheap stringy cheese that is hard to swallow its not enjoyable to eat when it feels like im going to choke on every bite. Worst of all it is overpriced. Also they could get a card reader ...

Sara Z.

Yelp
I've lived in LA all my life and I've tried many pupusas, even homemade, and I can honestly say there's none better than Los Molcajetes (this location in specific). The ingredients are rich in flavor and they have an equal mix, unlike other places that are stingy with the cheese or chicharrón, etc. They also have some great authentic drink like the Arrayan and ensalada which are perfect to try for the first time for most.

Bella M.

Yelp
No recomendable Pollo Encebollado, el pollo estaba duro Precocinado mínimo 4-5 días antes, estaba duro. La cebolla no estaba crujiendo muy mal sabor. Necesitan mejorar su cocina. No Recommended Pollo Encenollado was very hard. It must of been precooked 4-5 days before. The onions were not sautés properly and the taste was not there of a home made dish. Definitely Do Not recommend this restaurant

Alejandro A.

Yelp
If I can give this place 0 stars I would , honestly this place has the SHITTIEST service ever imaginable! I came here with a group of friends (5 people) and I get a reservation which take 30 mins because of how long everything takes here. I was the first one to sit down and look at the menu , had a pretty good idea of what I wanted ... the lady (small order lady ) took everyone else's order and forgot about me , I asked her to come back and she said she will be right back !!!! Never came back at all ! By the time everyone got there food and was almost done , she wanted to take my order ! Took them over 45 mins to even come back to us, still no food , no drink ! They definitely won't be eating here because they don't care about theyre customers!!! Edit : I ended walking out because I didn't deliver a satisfactory service, they wanted me to pay for food I didn't receive Moral of the story, I didn't receive food in a timely matter , shitty host service and they wanted me to pay for something I didn't receive ! So why support a horrible place ‍‍‍

Rubii G.

Yelp
The absolute BEST Salvadoran place in Los Angeles. Big juicy pupusas and their empanadas de leche are amazing!! #1 place

Sarah L.

Yelp
Best pupusas. I've been coming here since i was 11 im 28 now! I love this place. Always great customer service. Nice remodeling not fancy by any means but better than it was. We drive from woodland hills for these pupusas. We use to order pupusas for church and parties and the pupusas never fail.

Leslie C.

Yelp
If there was a 0 star Rate, me and my family WILL do it with out doubt!!!! Let me start off with their cashier, she didn't know how to take A card transaction. She (blond hair) made us swipe the card 4 times and she kept on saying that it wasn't going through. Until she figure it out what she was supposed to do on her side of the system. Then finally we got our ticket to wait for "6" Pupusas. Then after checking in our order Twice our "6" pupusas where ready in 40 mins !!!! And I promise I'm not exaggerating we have our receipt. Aside from that the other people in charge of handing out the food had The NASTIEST attitude for asking about our (once again) "SIX" pupusas order. This restaurant deserves my FIRST bad comment !!

Bianca C.

Yelp
Cash Only, small parking lot and WORTH IT. Ordered a bean and cheese pupusa and a caldo de res. They make pupusas with corn or rice flour. And their caldo was THE BEST I have ever had from a restaurant (I went with the abuelita and she loved it too, that's saying a lot!). The broth was savory and LOADED with meat and veggies. It was a very generous soup portion. The bowl was bigger than my head. Their menu offers lots of variety. I'm definitely planning to come back to taste the other dishes. The servers were really nice too!

Mimi L.

Yelp
Good chefs; delicious authentic salvadorian food. Decent portions. Thank you for following covid-19 mandates. Appreciate your contribution.

Melody L.

Yelp
Best papusas in Cali! It's a mission from my place but VERY worth the trip. The workers are beyond friendly and the food is always fresh. Their salsa and cabbage for papusas is delicious also! I haven't tried anything else, but I'm pretty sure if their papusas are amazing then everything else should be also! I would definitely recommend coming here for some authentic salvadorian food!

Lili A.

Yelp
One of the best pupusas. The size and tenderness is about just right. It's mostly busy so try to order ahead of time. I would just request extra curtido for the pupusas.

Diana M.

Yelp
Awful pupusas with an unpleasant aftertaste!!!!!!!!!! My stomach was hurting after I took a few bites and along came the runs!!!!! It's too bad!!!

Vanessa R.

Yelp
This was my first Salvadorian food experience and novelty aside the food is good, tasty, filling, and cheap. If I didn't speak Spanish, I would not have known what to order, as the staff spoke in Spanish to start. The place was not the cleanest, but also not that bad. if you are OK with a greasy spoon and good cheap eats this is the place for you! For people with food restrictions beware, all of the veg options come with a whopping dollop of cream on it that really doesn't add any flavor, try "SIN CREMA POR FAVOR" and save yourself the trouble scraping it off later.

Raymond P.

Yelp
Food great, parking sucks, and too many beggars near the entrance of the place. And they continue to pass out food to customers walking up to the take out window who are not wearing a mask. I confronted them about it twice and even told the customer he needed to wear a mask and the restaurant got in a big huff about it. I'm through with them on this and now gonna report them to the health department and Food and Safety Board. When they get hit with that hefty fine then maybe they're respect the Covid-19 law that's in place for businesses.

Sam C.

Yelp
Some of the best pupusas I've ever had! (Aside from family of course ;) These pupusas are huge, tender, and a great ratio of filling to masa - not to mention, cheese! I ordered the revuelta and zucchini. The zucchini was good but the revuelta was heavenly through and through. We also ordered the yuca y chicharrones which is some of the best I've had, period. The downside is that parking is sparse and sometimes they don't answer the phone, so you have to order at the window and wait. It can be a timely visit as they usually have a good amount of customers at any time of day, but I would say it was worth it :)

Jennifer W.

Yelp
mmmm mmmm mmmm delicious. I told my Salvi friend one night, take me to your favorite pupusa place and the next night she did! We each ordered two revuelta pupusas, one in the corn tortilla and one in the rice. The rice is a little bit crunchier, and omg was it delicious. We arrived around 7pmish and snagged a table, but the place got progressively more crowded as the night went on. Rumor is they are open til 11pm. Lots of to-go orders were being filled as well. My friend ordered for us in Spanish, but I think it would be easy for me to return and place an order if I had a craving (me being a non-Spanish speaker). A must try if you are craving pupusas! Tip: the parking lot is small and pretty crowded, but there seems to be an ample amount of street parking in the area.

Elizabeth L.

Yelp
What a way to enjoy a true authentic salvadorian meal. You can't go wrong with anything on the menu here. I strongly recommend you add this hidden gem to your favorites.

Zoi G.

Yelp
Service is not good here. When ordering the lady had an attitude and was so rude. My dad asked a simple question decided to roll her eyes. Took sooo long to get our food and it was only 2 of us. Food is not good at this location. We ordered some chicharones and bit into it ....PURE FAT. Disgusting and the platanos are dryer than the mojave desert. Other than that everything else was fine . I suggest to go to the one on 6th.

Ilene C.

Yelp
I don't eat here. Not my style, I'm more into upscale restaurant to dine in. But I do take out. I get empanadas de leche and pupusa de pork and cheese. Bomb aff

Stephanie V.

Yelp
Man! The pupusas are so amazing. The masa is just thin enough and the cheese filling is plenty. This is a hard competition with the Atlacatl restaurant for the pupusas. The atol de elote is delicious and a meal in itself with elote pieces inside. Quesadilla is really good when fresh and still warm. They sell you half if you want. Cash only It can get pretty packed but it's worth the wait.

Joseline L.

Yelp
By far the best pupusas in town complimented w the best cutido and salsa you can order your pupusas w rice flour or corn flour. Service is good and food is great with that being said make sure if you do stop by to have time in your hands to spare specially Friday and weekends waiting time can be a little lengthy from 10 to 30 minutes depending how busy the place is or the amount of people on your party

Josue C.

Yelp
If you are looking for a top-notch pupusa this is the location to go to. As most traditional Salvadoran restaurants do they offer both rice and corn pupusas. There offerings are so popular its almost impossible to get a seat during the lunch hour. Because I was on a tight schedule I called in to place my order (a consistent habit of mine if the offer take-out). As soon as I walked in, I noticed a line of indivuduals waiting for their order to get filled. Fortunately for me, I was able to immediately go up to the counter and pick up my order. They said 15 minutes and my order was ready in those 15 minutes. The pupusas are sufficiently filled which is always something I look for. I hate getting a pupusa that is mostly "masa" and lacking the appropriate filling. It wasn't too greasy which is usually an turn off as well. The only downside is that the location only takes cash. There are ATM's available in the neighboring establishments but if you want to avoid charges take some hard cash with you. The parking lot is a little small but many people tandem the spaces and it isn't a problem.
