Los Tacos No. 1 Review - Chelsea - New York - The Infatuation

"Some of the best tacos in New York City are hiding from you in the back of Chelsea Market. It’s time you went and found them. Located just around the corner from Amy’s Bread, Los Tacos No. 1 is an indoor taco stand started by three young taco-preneurs, two from California and one from Mexico. It’s a simple set-up, much like a good roadside operation, except instead of the road, Los Tacos No. 1 is serving tacos and quesadillas from a luxury retail sidewalk. You can’t usually find excellent tacos this close to a sample sale on bedding. photo credit: Noah Devereaux There’s one other interesting thing that happens at Los Tacos No. 1, and that’s the high probability that you’ll end up having a conversation with another taco enthusiast as you stand at the counter eating your food. The friendly staff, quality eats, and Mexican pop songs from the radio will put you and the people around you in a supremely good mood, and the next thing you know, you’re sharing napkins with a stranger. Food Rundown photo credit: Noah Devereaux Tacos Your choices are: marinated pork, steak, chicken, or cactus, on flour or corn tortillas. Our go-to is the pork on corn, but you really can’t make a bad decision here. The key, though, is to load up on the salsas at the bar before you dig in. photo credit: Noah Devereaux Quesadillas These quesadillas are incredible. And they’re not like the quesadillas you’ll find at your local airport Chili’s. These are more like soft tacos from the griddle with a lot of melted cheese on top. You want one/several. photo credit: Noah Devereaux Tostadas The tostadas here are another great way to go, but the only problem is that you’ll end up finishing them with a fork once the tortilla breaks. We guess that’s not really a problem. Chips & Guacamole Yes. Jugos Drink some juice with your tacos. The horchata and tamarindo are both tasty and refreshing." - Chris Stang

Maybe the best taco in the city? There's other locations so you can find one closer to you, probably!

I was kind of hungry and came across this place for a quick bite. Upon arrival you can smell the authentic aroma of the meats being grilled. Their menu is very straight forward to keep things simple, they also offer quesadillas, chips with salsa and homemade drinks. I just got a few tacos and a drink to wash it down. After paying the cashier you will be directed to one of their staffs, they will ask you what kind of tortilla do you like (Flour or Corn) and will ask you if you want all their fixings on your order. Food was pretty quick for a crowded atmosphere and place is clean like it is brand new. The first bite says it all, packed with flavor from meat to the salsa. Everything was well balanced and I love it that they keep their foods one hundred percent authentic. I highly recommend this place to any taco lovers and for anyone looking for a snack. Definitely will be back!

Google
LOS TACOS No.1 at Lafayette Street is one of the best spots in NYC for authentic Mexican tacos. The flavors are bold and fresh — from the perfectly seasoned carne asada to the juicy adobada, every bite feels like a quick trip to Mexico. The handmade tortillas add a fantastic touch of authenticity. The service is fast, even when there’s a line (which there usually is), and the atmosphere is casual and vibrant. It’s a great place for a quick, flavorful meal that hits all the right notes. A must-try for taco lovers in the city.

Google
I love the tacos here. Plus, I don’t normally eat bread or tortillas, and if you order it correctly you can get taco shells made 100% from CHEESE! Pictured here. Taco heaven for me.

Google
Best tacos we’ve ever had outside of Mexico. They were so good, we lined back up to order more. Hand made tortillas, the meat is so flavourful. The sauces are incredible. Outstanding customer service. You need to go here!

Google
Just had the tastiest tacos I’ve ever had. I’ve had many tacos but the Marinated pork was sooo flavorful! The guacamole was fresh and smooth. They also offered fresh pico de gallo on the side. Seriously sad that i only ordered 2. I will be back again before leaving NYC. Juan was a host there that was extremely helpful and provided so many recommendations! Ask about their secret menu too ! 👀

Google
This place is awesome! They work diligently to ensure the place is spotless! Between the cleanliness, the friendly staff and the absolutely amazing food there no wonder it's always busy in here. But they work hard for a quick turn around so there's hardly a wait. Near or far, come in and try anything on the menu! You won't be disappointed. I had some Queso tacos.. amazing! Thank you!

Google
The service was absolutely amazing, and the burrito I had was incredibly warm and delicious. Every bite was full of flavor, and it definitely left me wanting more. Unfortunately, I didn’t get the chance to try their tacos this time, but I’m definitely planning to come back to give them a try. I also really loved the atmosphere—it was cozy and inviting, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Overall, it was a fantastic visit, and I can’t wait to return to explore more of their menu.

Google
-Quick Bites Tacos- Flavorful tocos with chicken, pork and cactus. Small size but impactful. Plenty of Pico de Gallo, spicy salsa and radish on the side. Horchata is delicious and helps clean the palates after. A bright white space with counter stands. No seats. It's a meal on the go just like in Mexico.

Yelp
5.0 / 5.0 The best Tacos I ever had! The staff's energy and smiles are wonderful and make you feel as if you are in Mexico! I can't wait to try it again! This store allows you to choose your own sauces and toppings. There are no chairs, but there are six tables. It's always crowded, but the turnover is fast so you don't feel like you have to wait that long! what I ordered was : ・Carne Asada Tacos ・Pollo Asado Tacos
google avatar

KC O.

Yelp
the nopales taco was delicious, but the carne asada and adobada tacos were only okay, the meat was not super flavorful and the toppings and sauces were very one-note. the space is pretty and clean, although with no seats, and the food is made very quickly. i was really really disappointed after so many reviews hyping this place up.

Yelp
One of the mostly highly rated spots (and I can totally see and taste why)!!! These tacos are the real deal. Fresh as possible and full of authentic flavor. The salsa options and accoutrements from grilled green onions to radishes and sliced limes were great additions to the piping hot tacos straight from the grill!! I had to sample all the options so I got 4 tacos, 2 with flour tortillas and 2 with corn. The flour tortillas were cooked on the grill with lard and that is clearly written for all guests to know before ordering in case that is a dealbreaker. The corn tortillas were very corn forward, ultimately, I liked the flour ones more! I tried Nopal for the first time here aka Cactus!!!! Somehow, the way it's prepared here retains a lot of smokiness that is very yummy and of course a great vegan alternative for meat. A little slimy kinda like okra but not bad. My favorite meat was the carne asada. This spot is very popular, and plenty of people stood around high tables (no chairs) to eat this fresh meal. It's also a very affordable meal option! It hits all the spots, authentic, affordable, and fresh! What's not to love?? Oh, also the horchata was awesome!!! Great match to cool down your mouth after some spicy salsa!!

Yelp
These are pretty solid tacos - pork (adobada) is the way to go every time. This location is a good location even though I really am not a fan of their ordering system. They have a breakfast burrito cart out in the mornings which is so cute
google avatar

Chris D.

Yelp
3.5 stars. Not bad for an east coast taqueria (west coast does it the best in my opinion). Carne asada had flavor but the adobada was super salty. They also had a salsa bar that included fresh radish, pico de gallo and 2 other salsa's, no salsa verde though. I like that it's standing room only, so get it in and get out when you're done. If your craving street style taco's in NYC, this is a good option. Will try their competitors next trip.
google avatar

Val S.

Yelp
Smaller location than the other ones, but the taste is just as delicious. I recommend the carne asasa taco and adobada taco. Get some delicious hot sauces from the sauce bar too. Just as their other locations, standing only, avoid peak lunch and dinner hours. Line moves fast though.
google avatar

Yelp
Los Tacos No.1 is the best taco in NYC. Although this is a chain they win time and time again for the best taco in NYC. With absolutely delicious flavors and amazing hot sauces and toppings, this spot can't be missed. Truly authentic food and simple atmosphere. Just remember, NO TICKET NO TACO. This basically means you need to hold on to your receipt because it turns into your taco ticket. Simple system. 5/5. Will be back.

Yelp
I'd just flown in from London and I was looking for a quick and affordable bite to eat. This place came recommended via Yelp and so - with the UK not being great on Mexican "diners" - I tracked up the street for a quick meal. I really enjoyed the atmosphere. It reminded me of the taquerias in San Francisco with speedy service, delicious food and loud Mexican music. I ordered two tacos and chips & salsa and devoured it all in no time...it was delicious. It's standing room only!

Yelp
No NYC trip is complete without a stop at one of their most infamous taco joints, Los Tacos No. 1! I heard the buzz about this place by word of mouth and decided I HAD to check it out next time I came. They have a ton of locations all around the city so it wasn't hard to find one near us. The food here did NOT disappoint! = FOOD: 10/10 = We tried the carne asada, adobada, and nopal tacos. They don't have a ton of taco options, but I'm sure they've worked hard to curate the classics. I love that they have nopal, an option that can be hard to find but great for vegan / vegetarian customers. Adobada: 9/10 The adobada comes with sizzling hot pork slow-roasted on a spit and is paired with sweet, juicy pineapples. Al pastor tacos are my favorite and this place did absolutely them justice. Each bite was burst of sweet, sour, and savory all wrapped up together by the fattiness of the pork. And to round it off, the little bits of char on the pork gives it a crispy smokiness you won't forget. Nopal: 7/10 The nopal tacos were loaded and chock full of flavor. All of their seasoning is done with the right proportions of salty and sweet, but not so overpowering that the nopal doesn't have the chance to shine. Topped off with lime and a drizzle of the green sauce, these tacos are balanced to perfection. Carne Asada: 8/10 The carne asada taco had the most tender beef cubes! They're cooked to the right temperature and not at all rubbery or hard to chew. The beef is packed with powerful flavors, but yet, does not feel heavy to eat. This taco pairs well with the red sauce! = SERVICE: 9/10 = The line might get long, but you better get your order ready while you wait. The folks here do not play around and the line WILL move quick. The employees are friendly, welcoming, and work very efficiently. Messes do not stick around because they have people going around cleaning the surfaces regularly. There are usually enough spots to eat inside, but there are no seats here so be prepared to get in and get out. = AMBIANCE: 8/10 = As the door swings open, you're greeted by the sweet aroma of the pineapple pork and the lively scene of people moving all about the restaurant. They have an open kitchen setup where you can watch the cooks craftily assemble tacos. In the back, you can watch them slice the meat right off of the spit. It's an interesting place to be and gives bustling Latin diner vibes. === OVERALL: A+ === Los Tacos here are truly number one! These were the best tacos I've had so far in between NY and CT and even rival some of the ones I've had in Mexico City. Not only that, but they have a unique system going that they've perfected to the T. It was absolutely incredible to watch the process. They left us wanting to come back for more and to be honest, I'm not sure I'd ever go to a different taco place in NYC. Definitely worth a try. Ally's Favs: - Nopal con todos w/ green sauce and pico - Adobado con todos w/ red sauce and pico

Yelp
Grabbing cookies next door and I couldn't help but notice the bustling going on at Los Tacos. When I saw the word 'taco' I knew I was going inside! Great system: Cashier line Step aside to a special 'taco maker' who askes you the basics You can add limes off you go The guacamole was creamy and delicious The meat needed seasoning I enjoyed these tacos, especially the choice of adding lime. They are petite, affordable and good!
google avatar

Yelp
Simple business model. Quality ingredients. Straight to the point. This has to be one of the best tacos I've ever had in MY LIFE. I truly enjoyed this place, so much that we went 2 days in a row to 2 different locations. Everything from the quality of the meats I had(chicken and carne asada) were perfect. I went with flour tortillas, guacamole, onions, and added the special ingredient of Pineapples which they typically reserve for the pork tacos. This is a guaranteed win and you won't be disappointed. Remember there's only standing room to eat. No seating, so be prepared.

Yelp
Tacos in New York? Why not! This spot came highly recommended by a friend, and it didn't disappoint. The food was delicious, and the line moved quickly. It feels like an LA taco stand but indoors. There aren't any seats--just stand at the little bar-style tables, eat, and go. The tortillas were fantastic, and my favorite was the adobada--so flavorful! It was interesting to watch the staff carefully weigh each order, ensuring consistency in portion sizes. They have a small sauce bar with chilis and other toppings, which was a nice touch, and their drinks were pretty good too. The food is a bit pricey, but hey, it's New York--what do you expect? Overall, a solid spot for a quick taco fix!

Yelp
Delicious tacos. Great service and clean. Orderly and great dining experience. 4 Star is because of the price. $6 for a taco. Get out of here
google avatar

Yelp
Had dinner here last Thursday and ordered a Grilled Chicken Quesataco, Cactus Taco, and Tamarindo Drink. The employees were really helpful by explaining the secret menu and giving samples of the protein/drinks. There's no seating inside but there are counters where you can stand and eat. The cactus is a unique option and good for vegetarians but personally didn't hit the spot for me. This was my first time trying a quesataco and it was so good and bette than I expected . The tamarindo was the perfect light and refreshing drink for this meal. I want to come back for the quesatacod and to try the other meats.
google avatar

Yelp
The staffs were friendly. The place is always busy. No ticket, no taco. The tacos are delicious. The salsa is a bit spicy and you can add more toppings on the side. The eating area are all standing up, no seating. Food: 5/5 Service: 5/5 Ambience: 5/5

Ashley T.

Yelp
excelente servicio, muy atentos! los mejores tacos que e comido wow! Luis demaciado atento con sus clientes encantada con el lugar

braNDY L.

Yelp
Tijuana approved! Excellent hand made corn tortillas, quality meats, amazing red salsa (7/10 heat). Delicious made to order lunch for two for under $30, can't beat it. Don't sleep on the tamarindo agua fresca!
google avatar

Yelp
Tacos? AMAZING Experience? EXCITING Customer service? Got my order right! From top to bottom, I loved this. It was busy, unique, and standing room only. My introvert husband struggled a little with the concept of being crowded and standing while eating a taco, but I thought it was fun. Would come back and recommend!!!
google avatar

Nicole B.

Yelp
My first time going to this location, I usually go to the Chelsea Market location. Glad to share the tacos were just as good! They also had people coming around the check on you and make sure you were enjoying the food, which never happens at Chelsea Market. It is not the biggest place and can get very crowded but luckily people seem to be in and out. They only have standing room so expect a casual outing.
google avatar

Rebecca P.

Yelp
good for sure but I wouldn't say it's my favorite taco. it's a cute place, you order then pick up your food and eat standing up. I like that you can customize them yourself. I tried a chicken and a steak and liked them both nice staff and it was pretty quick
google avatar

Yelp
I lived on the West Coast for 15 years, visited Mexico 17x in one year and also spent time in Texas. Los Tacos #1 has the best tacos I have had. I also love their nopales plate, the mullas and quesadillas, especially with pork. The service is typically fast - but lines can be long. I go to NoHo at least once a week when I am in NYC, and was at the theater district one last weekend. The ambiance is busy, only counter space. But, these are great.
google avatar

Esther R.

Yelp
This is my favorite taco spot! They have several locations across the city, but we visited the one near the Kith store. I tried the carne asada and adobada tacos, and both were incredibly flavorful and delicious. While you can't go wrong with either, I personally preferred the adobada. The tacos are a bit on the pricier side, but they're absolutely worth it! Although the line was long, it moved quickly, making the wait worthwhile.
google avatar

LoiLoi F.

Yelp
We loovveeee flavorful, juicy, and authentic tacos! As a nyc staple, this place is def a must-try! We were walking around all day and knew we needed a quick lunch to munch on! Although it is pricey and the portions are smaller than one can expect, the flavor of the meat and vegetables are incredible! They have a quick and organized work dynamic and lots and lots of patience for heavy crowds! The pollo, carne asada, y chorizo are all delicious! Def check them out!
google avatar

Candice N.

Yelp
It gets better every time I go! Having lived in Mexico, I sorely miss good tacos. I've definitely found decent places in the past 3 years, but Los Tacos No.1?? OMW. Whatever meat you're craving, even nopal! Want a quesadilla? Maiz or Harina?? Quick service, perfect ambience.. Fresh, juicy limes. I wouldn't say it's the best taco I've ever had, but the tortillas being made FRESH on the spot combined with the simplicity of ordering and the vibes all around?? I will absolutely be back, anytime I'm craving a little piece of 'home.'
google avatar

Sera Y.

Yelp
Coming from California, I sometimes get hankerings for Mexican food and have searched far and wide within New York to satisfy my cravings. Every new Mexican spot I go to just leaves me feeling more defeated and longing CA Mexican food. Until Los Tacos! I tried the adobada quesadilla and carne asada taco and must say, both were really really good. I liked the adobada more (but also in general like adobada more). I felt like they gave a very fair portion of meat, and both meats were really tender. The flavor of the meat and the sauces were also perfect. I really liked the cheesiness of the quesadilla well! The one caveat though, the tacos cool down really quickly and don't taste nearly half as good cold. Eat them quick!
google avatar

Frances P.

Yelp
These tacos were 100% best I ever had. Simple and amazing!! They offer you fresh corn flower tortillas made in front of you They have a bar with hot sauce, fresh pico and some type of peppers.. Come down and try these out!!
google avatar

Lindsay S.

Yelp
I'm obsessed with this place. It's affordable and delicious. Always go with the adobada taco it's definitely my favorite. I usually get a carne asada as well. Pairs perfectly with a Diet Coke. I like that they don't charge you extra for all the toppings which includes guacamole. Service is super quick. They give you your receipt and you just give it to the workers to make your tacos. Honestly like the simple inside vibes of the place and staff is great at cleaning up quickly
google avatar

Yelp
When I was searching Tik Tok for places to eat on my visit to New York, Los Tacos came up multiple times. Me being from California and me nominating them as best place for tacos I wasn't looking to add this to my places to stop. After getting off the train and heading back to the hotel, there it was... on the corner with a little line, but not too long. I took that as a sign to try it out. It was a small setting with no seats, just standing room and chest height tables to eat. You could the workers in the back making fresh tortillas and cooking meat. I ordered one steak and one chicken taco but asked not to include the guacamole since I'm allergic. Off to the side there's options for other salsas , and toppings. I must say I was throughly pleased with my choice of stopping in. Food was fresh meat was tender and seasoned salsa was hotter than expected , maybe ask to get it on the side if you don't like hot...other than that 10/10.
google avatar

Lisa H.

Yelp
This was my first Los Tacos No. 1 experience; they're becoming ubiquitous in Manhattan! I entered and was confused about where to go. You're supposed to head to the left but I missed the small sign and started walking to the right. Luckily I observed a manager give guidance to two other newbies so I followed them.  It was kinda loud in there and I had trouble understanding the cashier, but I placed my order for the carne asada taco ($5.65) and the adobada taco ($5.25). You're given a slip of paper with your order. Then you kind of wait off to the side until an employee directs you to hand your order to a kitchen fellow. Then you can request your preferences (corn or flour tortillas, onion, salsa, guacamole, cilantro). Lime wedges are available on the counter.  Once your food is ready, you can swing by the salsa bar next to the wall then scan the dining room for an empty counter space where you can eat. No seating. Because of that setup, there's constant diner turnover and I did appreciate seeing employees regularly cleaning and keeping the space tidy.  The two tacos, while delicious and quite different from each other, were petite. Three or four might be an appropriate quantity for a meal; this was more of a snack. I had to tell myself not to eat them too rapidly because otherwise they'd be gone in two gulps. I'll just have to order more next time!
google avatar

Jin Hao Y.

Yelp
Great tacos, abeit small portions but tasted great nevertheless. The salsa is a bit spicy but tasted good. It is a busy store so be expected to wait a bit but they work on orders fast. Since the store is nested at the start of broadway, you're sort of surrounded by tourist or people out with dates.
google avatar

Marylyn T.

Yelp
As a carne asada girly, adobada is a must try!! I regret not getting more of it. The meat was so juicy and tender with a tasty marinade. They loaded up the toppings making the price so worth it. The horchata was yummy, nothing too special though. There is limited seating, but this is more of a quick bite than sit down kind of place! The line and crowd moves quick, so don't let that deter you.
google avatar

Ellyzha A.

Yelp
Best taco place I've been to. My boyfriend and I walked from the 9/11 Memorial + Museum. Very organized and straight-forward way to order. We both ordered 1 adobada taco + 1 carne asada taco each. Incredibly flavorful, tender, & the sauces that were added complemented the tacos perfectly. 10/10.

Yelp
It's the In & Out for Tacos! I was skeptical about this spot as we had a bunch of New Yorkers tell us that it was the "best" taco they've ever had. Unfortunately, they were right. Los Tacos was clean, fulfilling, and super flavorful! They have a very organized process: You order in one line. Then take your ticket and stand in line to get your food. If you're new like me, it can be confusing. However, there is always someone standing by the food line telling you where to go. I ordered a Carne Asada Quesadilla ($7) on a flour tortilla, with everything on it. It was the perfect amount for me but was not your average quesadilla. It looked like an overstuffed taco. I ate around it with a fork before I could hold it up and eat it. The lime added a nice freshness to the quesadilla and the salsa was perfect! Prices are a little steep for a taco ($5-$6) but it's quality and I will gladly pay for that over a cheaper fatty cut of meat. Staff is also super friendly and very generous with their portions. Cheers!

Erika O.

Yelp
I came by for lunch on a Saturday and it was pretty busy but the line went fast. I got two tacos, one pork and one carne asada. The tacos were really good, the meat was very tender. There is a decent amount of area to sit inside, but it's all standing tables. Would love to come back and try the other menu items. Such good tacos!
google avatar

Yelp
Scarfed 'em down as soon as we got 'em! They are the minis but PACKED with meat and flavor. Sauces are optional and honestly uneeded. Both the Chicken and Steak are phenomenal. The Pork is a bit drowned in the Adobo, while the others stand on their own. Also, to mimic the infamous Pancho's Takos of Puerto Vallarta, the Al Pastor needs more than 2 "slivers" of Pineapple. They also changed up the Tortilla. It feels a bit thinner and lacks an authentic corn flavor, which they used to have. Still GOOD though. Overall, ALWAYS worth a visit!
google avatar

Falguni T.

Yelp
This place is busy, and for the right reasons! We went here in the evening and got a Pollo Asada. The craft and technique with which the chef made our taco, was truly impressive. The chicken was so soft and flavourful. We really enjoyed it. Though we would've enjoyed some hot sauce on it too, but we didn't notice the sauce bar in the back in time. This place gives you a street vendor vibe, in a closed restaurant - which I liked.
google avatar

Nalio E.

Yelp
This place is always amazing. The service is quick and the tacos are always so flavorful. If you're in the area and want a quick bite to eat this is the place!

Yelp
We finally made a visit to the Lafayette location during off peak times and were glad we did so. Staff was friendly and helpful, and the two tacos we tried were delicious. Each taco was tightly packed with meat and all the toppings were fresh. There's a small side condiment bar to add salsa and peppers if you like. Eating is all standing, but you'll gobble up your tacos anyway so it won't take long. Lines move fast. You pay at the register and then hand your receipt to one of the preparers. The corn tortilla la we tried were highly flavorful which really completes the taco.

Yelp
Los Tacos No.1 in NoHo has been on my list for a while, and I finally got to try it! This spot is known for its viral fame. I ordered the corn tortilla with Carne Asada (steak), and it was phenomenal. The steak was perfectly seasoned, juicy, and packed with flavor--it's the kind of taco that lives up to the hype. On the flip side, I tried the flour tortilla with Pollo Asado (grilled chicken), and it didn't do much for me. The flavor was a bit plain compared to the boldness of the steak taco. Price-wise, it's a bit on the higher side at about $5 per taco. While I wish the portions matched the price, it's still a great spot to visit if you're checking off NYC's most famous eats. The service experience was okay. The cashier was kind, but the kitchen staff seemed rushed and pushed us to pick quickly, which can be stressful if you're not familiar with their setup. As for the ambiance it was crowded it had a decent amount of people almost all the table spots were taken considering we were a Saturday. All in all, it's a solid spot to try at least once. I'm glad I checked it off my list, and I'd recommend it for anyone wanting to experience an iconic NYC taco!

Yelp
I LOVE the tacos here! I am visiting from Cali and I was in the mood for tacos and this place hit the spot! The tacos cost a bit more but are totally worth it since they taste like everything was made to perfection and come with salsa and guacamole. HIGHLY RECOMMEND if you want great tacos in NY. Definitely the number 1 tacos. There is no seating but they have standing tables.

Amazing tacos. Super fast service and authentic Mexican ambiance. Great choice for home style tacos.

Yelp
The service is pretty quick even though the line can get long. They assemble the tacos right in front of you and have the condiments on the side. There's counters to stand at and eat.

Yelp
Food (4/5) - the tacos were amazing! Really surprised honestly since I wasn't expecting much. However were they a little over priced? - Yes. Service (4/5) - Nothing special but I felt a warm welcome and the staff was on top of it! Ambiance (4/5) - There are no sitting areas (mostly standing tables) so if you're looking to sit, this might not be the pace for you. However, other than that the interior was decorated well.

Yelp
I overheard someone recommending this place on the flight to NYC, and then my co-worker recommended it as well, so I figured I had to give it a try. Tacos is not the first food that would come to mind for me going to NYC, especially coming from California. However, Los Tacos No. 1 was a surprising delight. As I stood in line to order, I see others moving over after ordering to get their order prepared. It doesn't look like there is a good system in place - people would just give one of the staff their order ticket, and wait around one of the standing counter space. After placing my order, the staff asked if I had been there before, and when I responded no, she very politely told me what I had to do next (handing my ticket to the next available person in the food prep area). I did that, and moved around a few times to find a good counter space where I was going to eat my tacos while ensuring that the person who took my ticket knows where I am. Somehow, they just remember you and your order, and wave you down when your order is ready. Impressive! As for the food, these tacos were on par with some of the better tacos places that I have been to in California. I got a pork and carne asada tacos. They all had the right amount of meat with fixings. If you are looking for a fast meal with good food, this is the place to go.

Yelp
Great tacos good service. Came from LA and I would say it's pretty good def worth the try if you miss those corn tortilla tacos. Stand up seating, casual loud environment.

Yelp
I was just here for tacos with my family. And Wilbur, I think he's a manager, gave us grilled peppers and onions with some samples of marinated pork. That was such a nice and kind gesture. I love this Los Tacos and Wilbur definitely made me a devout Los Tacos No 1 family. You just don't see this type of genuinely kind service anymore. Thanks to Wilbur for making this very special experience!!!!

Yelp
I'm sure there's a reason why they're called No.1, as these tacos rank pretty high on the East Coast taco restaurant list (if there is one?). The tacos served at Los Tacos are quick, filling, and definitely easy to grab on the go. Now, I'm by no means Mexican and can't critique how they compare, but I can certainly say that these are some of the best tacos I've had on the East Coast. I specify the East Coast because, as we all know, nothing can compare to some tacos down in California (or, heck, Mexico). The atmosphere at Los Tacos is loud, chaotic and really is a grab and go taco place. However, if you're looking for some authentic Mexican food, I would definitely hit up Roosevelt Ave instead. **Rating:** - Taste: 9/10 - Value: 9/10 - Ambiance/vibes: 9/10

Yelp
These are maybe the best tacos in US. I've had tacos all across the country and these are the best Al pastor style I have found. 5 stars! 10 out of 10! They are consistently delicious across the board, I've been 6 times & to 3 locations and they are worth the wait ( or if you go at an off time, during the week they usually won't have a line 230-330pm ) I have tried multiple things. But the best is the pork adobada taco with corn tortillas con todo!! (W/ everything. ) If you're not gonna get it with everything the way it's intended to be eaten, probably just go somewhere else. The people working at all locations have always been nice and friendly, and the food comes super fast. Definitely worth checking out! It's counter service and no tables, standing at bar height so not good for small children at all & or Togo only. It's definitely an eat and run kinda place.

Yelp
I've heard about this place through social media so I had to check it out while I was in the city just to see what the talk was about. It was packed when I came there. The line was out the door, but luckily they have multiple counters for ordering so it moves faster than you think. It's pretty loud with everyone packed into a small space. It took me about 15 mins to get my order in and another 5 to get my tacos. I went for the Al pastor taco- not on their menu with the other items, but I did see it on the wall somewhere and ordered it without any problem. The taco was fairly small for the price but I kind of knew that going in. I hoped the taste would make up for it. The taco was good, but was it almost $6 good? I'd say no. I feel like there are other taco places in NY with decent prices that match the quality. I'd probably have to order at least 4 tacos to be somewhat satisfied. That's $20! Luckily, I just stopped by for a snack before dinner. Still, I don't regret trying it out just to taste the taco for myself. I will say, the toppings are free so you can take as much as you want.
