We came for our 2 year anniversary and the food and drinks were amazing! Everything we had was so flavorful and prepared well. We sat at the bar, and Steve, the mixologist, was great, and so were his drinks.

What a gem of a place. Fantastic drinks. Great service. Beautifully curated live music. Intimate ambiance. This place is quite a gem for the folks who like finely crafted cocktails and a good time.

Had a wonderful date night here. The restaurant itself is very cozy, and the decor is nicely placed. The staff are all very friendly and welcoming and we were seated right away. We started with the raw oysters, which were very fresh. The cocktail sauce had some great taste to it. Then we moved on to the whitefish dip. Wonderful creaminess and robust flavor to it. The bread that came with it was fresh and was toasted to perfection. There was so much dip that we could have used a little more bread, but that wasn't a problem at all. For the main, we got the steak frites. The chef prepared the steak exactly as we asked, medium rare. The hanger steak was tender and flavorful, and the sauce was strong. The fries were

Google
Definitely worth a visit and to find yourself lost at sea’s selection of seafood dishes that didn’t fail to impress. Something about the light atmosphere coupled with the great staff turned our spontaneous night out into a when are we coming back. Definitely get reservations; something we will remember for next time. Thank you guys for the wonderful night out.

Google
my 2nd time here and the 2nd time they did not disappoint! I got familiar plates for the appetizers but tried the chorizo dish for the first time for the entree. delicious! at first glance it felt it was a bit lacking as it was just the sausage on a small bed of pureed vegetables but it was so delicious I was quite satisfied with that 😁

Google
This is one of the best places to eat in Long Beach, by far. It’s a cozy spot— about as small as it looks on the outside. The atmosphere is warm, almost like a memory from a cabin trip in the Catskills with your family as a child. Upon first glance, one might not predict the kind of meal you’ll have here. That being said, I’ve never had a bad meal here. If you’re into oysters, always get two of each. The Caesar salad is a must-order as well. The exceptional quality of the ingredients is always enhanced by Chef Alecia’s masterful, yet playful spin on her dishes. Steve’s textbook knowledge of wine and cocktails is definitely worth one of their few bar seats. Overall, this is fine dining served in a lake house living room, complete with the warmest service and surprises in every corner. Call ahead as reservations are hard to come by, and, as always, tip generously!

Cozy place to eat! Seafood is delicious. Thanks for a nice time. Also the cocktails are really good !

Google
My favorite spot in long beach. Super nice and private. Food is amazing and steve the bartender is a wizzard on cocktails. Highly recommended..

Yelp
This is a special restaurant. The food is innovative and amazing. great wine list, really good service. Small but cozy atmosphere. Highly recommended!!

Yelp
Creative and inventive food. I'm still dreaming about the Smoked Whitefish Dip on the scrumptious baguettes. I would go there just for that dish! The octopus was also very good. Cocktails hit the spot and you can tell they really put some time and thought into creating these concoctions. Service was great, and the restaurant is small so you must have a reservation. I want to go back and try some more of the food and cocktails ! Yum! Sorry no photos on this review. We were hungry!

Yelp
Visiting LB from the city for the day and wanted seafood. The ratings are good so took a uber to check it out. This place is small so I understand they were busy and sat us outside. Staff was firm not exactly warm. We were with our 7 and 3 year olds and there were no children friendly options, no French fries or chicken options. No problem. Asked for bread and was charged $4 for it. We ordered the salmon tartar. What came was more of a cucumber salad with a bit of salmon and it was salty but we dealt with it bc we were starving. The salmon was so finely chopped that it's hard to justify the $18 price. Charred corn was next- amazing! My baby ate two of them. The Mussels were next- again salty but still good. Next we had the octopus and it was dry- the fennel and babaganoush was 3/10. On to the mains- we ordered the scallops and steak. The scallops were so salty I almost spit it out. Sent it back. The steak was delicious, a little salty but I was hungry so ate it. Back to the service: They had to move us inside bc it started raining. We were asked if we wanted our mains to go bc they had reservations at 6:30- it was 5:55. We declined as we wanted to eat there but the pressure made it very uncomfortable. Around 6:15 there were many empty tables and the owner told us not to stress and take our time. What an awful experience! I don't know if it was bc we had kids or bc we are brown/black people; but it was atrocious! My $200 are better spent elsewhere. Will never return to this restaurant again.

Yelp
Great seafood restaurant in Long Beach! Great service and pretty large portions. We ordered 4 oysters (2 different types), the crab tostada special (favorite dish of the night) salmon tartare and the octopus. The restaurants does allow to pay with card but it is 4%. It also is unmarked so look for the door with 888 on it and a tan curtain.

Irina B.

Yelp
Service is good but the food is uneatable. Salmon tartar was just a cucumber salad, you can't even taste salmon. Octopus was too salty put is some kind of cold oily bruschettaike mixture, in a deep plate you can't even cut octopus with a knife. It was so oyily and salty. No idea why it gets good reviews.

Yelp
the best cocktails AND seafood on long island!! small, super cool hole-in-the-wall spot with no sign and dishes meant to be shared and stellar service! there's about 10 tables and 4 bar seats in the whole restaurant, but that's the charm of this place. the alcohol is all from small, artisanal distilleries and every cocktail is well thought out and delicious. the flawless menu changes w what's in season but some staples (like the scallops, salmon tartar, smoked whitefish dip & steak) are also always delicious. always satisfied leaving here. some of the best seafood i've ever had. chef alecia never misses. steve's cocktails are always on point. the waitresses are always helpful and charming. lost at sea is a must try if you're in the area!

Yelp
This restaurant along with its sister restaurant - Lost & Found are EASILY the 2 best restaurants in all of Long Beach. The food here is absolutely impeccable with similar quality food as Lost & Found. Everything here is full of flavor. The octopus appetizer was out of this world. We also tried the bone marrow dish which was very good. We also ordered the fish tacos that were packed with flavor. The steak and fries were excellent too. Will certainly be coming back here very often!

Yelp
Fabulous experience for Lisa E. and I on this the sabbath of our 30th anniversary! Lisa planned this evening for our celebration and until she opened the door and parted the curtain I had no clue what was in store. Cozy and romantic, a perfect table placement. Service so knowledgeable, efficient , and unobtrusive. Beautiful soundtrack throughout the evening. Greeted with a tasting of mulled wine. Lisa curated a nice sharing menu: -pristine Beaulieu oysters -Tuna Crudo well sauced + charred bread -Oysters Florentine -Grilled Octopus -Fusilli with smoked fish and mushrooms -Grilled swordfish Cocktails por moi: Clear old fashioned Smoky Mezcal Negroni X 2 por madame: Pina Colada - nice conversation lovely couple at the next table Came in with no expectations Left with a great memory

Yelp
Understand that this is a flawless cozy establishment that truly understands gastronomy. No nonsense, just absolute upper echelon food that will take you on a wondrous journey.

Yelp
The best place in LB for gourmet food and craft cocktails, just make sure to make a reservation!

Yelp
My fiancée and I came here with friends this weekend. My fiancée and I first got the deep purple cocktail which was super sour then after trying our friend's Demeter switched to that. The Demeter was so good and smooth. For appetizers, we got the whitefish dip, calamari, & octopus. The one thing we really enjoyed and was really tasty was the whitefish dip. I wasn't a fan of the calamari at all. There was a weird seasoning in it that threw all of us off. I also don't like octopus but my fiancée and friend do but they weren't a fan of this dish. The octopus was tougher and the only flavor was the slight olive flavor coming through. For our entree, we got the steak and fries. The steak was a little chewy and our breath smelt like garlic until the next morning, but it was still good. The food took awhile to come out but everyone was really nice. We'd come again for drinks, the whitefish dip, & probably try the other food.

Yelp
Came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. Was able to get the reservation a little less than a week in advance. Food was very good! This is totally a seafood restaurant.... I know duh it's called Lost At Sea... of course it's a seafood restaurant. Fish is not really my thing. That said I had a great meal and enjoyed the experience. We tried a bunch of items 1 Slightly Smaller Plate each and then one Slightly Bigger Plates each. Cocktail menu is creative and plentiful, something for everyone. Staff was attentive but busy it was Saturday night. Tried 2 items, not seafood, I had never tried before. The Sunchokes, very much like a potato or yucca starchy tuber chunk served with a yogurt sauce and then Duck Wings. Duck wings were good, slightly less meaty than I had expected but had great flavor. Also tried the Nashville Monkfish, not enough hot sauce flavor for me but the fish was cooked well and was good. Will definitely be back minimally for a small plate and a cocktail!

Yelp
Always tastes good and great staff. They give you an app of cucumbers tomatoes and bread to start on the house and they have great small dishes

Yelp
Food was good but our waitress, albeit professional, did it seem pleased to be working.

Yelp
Always a great meal! We come here with another couple and share everything.Steve is a fantastic mixologist! Food is always well prepared and has an interesting twist! One of our favorite restaurants in LB!

Jackie A.

Yelp
I loooooved the vibe of place and the servers were so nice and gave so many suggestions for me and my mom to try. The biggest issue I had here is that the food was super salty.
google avatar

Joe C.

Yelp
It's rare to find a restaurant where the staff is amazingly competent and extremely friendly. We immediately felt at home. The drinks were well curated as was the wine. The food was eclectic, creative and delicious. It really reminded us of a Spanish tapas bar with a great chef and mixologist that was represented by the friendliest front staff. Just a great experience.

Yelp
Love this place. We were visiting from DC, wanted an extra special meal and they delivered! Love the service, specialty drinks, the oysters, mussels the rockfish and the whole dinner. We wholeheartedly recommend this to anyone with discerning taste!

Yelp
Cutest place. Good service. Quaint decor. Food was phenomenal all dishes. So many spices and flavors! Margarita was very well balanced and hit the spot. Order the hangar steak with garlic Mayo and frites

Yelp
Wow, this place is simply great!! Came here Friday night for an early birthday dinner and, I'm in love. We are late night eaters so we showed up around 10pm and had to wait a little while. It's on the smaller side and the ambiance in on point. We shared the following and all were divine: -peel and eat shrimp- covered with garlic and accompanied with a nice tartar sauce; plenty to share -scallops- these are a MUST get. Cooked amazingly well and the broth/oil it in was very flavorful and delicious -clams casino- loved the salsa/meat combo which was on top of these. Again, the flavor these were cooked in was wonderful -red snapper (special for the night)- beyond good! This and the scallops were my favorite. The snapper was cooked in a balsamic, nut sauce and was cooked to perfection I truly felt like I was in Brooklyn with a restaurant of this caliber. Cannot wait to return!! Just remember- cash only :)

Yelp
By far one of THE BEST places I've ever been to. The calamari was exceptional, the mussels were flawless, and the drinks were even better! I highly, HIGHLY recommend this restaurant if you're in the mood for great seafood, even better drinks, and wonderful service!

Nikki I.

Yelp
Smallest place you'll eat at. Their drinks are handcrafted and INCREDIBLE. For food, definitely recommend the smoked white fish dip.
google avatar

Yelp
Amazing. The old fashion was so different then I'm use to but was a pleasant surprise. Food was delicious in every way. Our waitress was cool and super helpful with menu. I'd say the hostess was a little stiff but place still deserves a 5 based on the quality of food and service. Ty for a great experience

Yelp
One time I came here with a friend and we got wine drunk and ordered 7 rounds of oysters. Chilean sea bass was good also

Yelp
This place is honestly on my list of top ten best restaurants that I have ever been to. The bartender was super fun to talk to and the drinks were fantastic. I've never had salmon tartare in my life and I tried it here and it was the best thing that I ate. The Caesar salad was just very slightly overdressed but it's better than some restaurants that barely dress it at all. The swordfish was grilled perfectly and the bread was great. You absolutely have to experience it for yourself.

Carmine G.

Yelp
What a Rip! VERY small portions (Tapas) for very high prices, no top brand Booz. lousy seating. Bad attitude. Won't be back again.
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying this place lived up to the hype. Came around 8 o'clock with a reservation, and although there was a hiccup, the staff went above and beyond to make up for it. For drinks my husband and I ordered the old fashioned, the deep purple and the flor rosado. We were blown away by how good they were. For food we kept it simple and ordered the octopus along with a Caesar salad. The flavors were delicious. The staff are super friendly and the ambience is intimate and perfectly dimly lit. There is nothing negative to say about the place. Just an FYI, the restaurant is cash only.

Yelp
Wow wow wow! Hands down the best meal we have had in a very LONG time. With a seafood forward menu and unique cocktail list, this place stands out in a sea of cookie-cutter Long Island restaurants. Chef Alecia is a rare talent and her food speaks for itself. Bartender Steve is an insane mixologist with some of the most killer cocktails we ever had. We arrived for a Saturday 5:30 rez and promptly seated at a high top. It's an intimate space with about 4-5 tables appropriately set apart and hand sanitizer at each table. Ambiance is old world and nautical with jazzy lounge tunes. DRINKS: I don't think you could go wrong with any of their cocktails, but the Sloe Gin Fizz and Milk Punch were ridiculously delicious. Steve even gave us a little history lesson behind the Milk Punch and it was fascinating. FOOD LINE UP: Peel & Eat Shrimp: nice sized marinated shrimp w/ cocktail dipping sauce... very good Smoked Trout Croquettes: a featured special of the night; out of this world delicious and one of the highlights of our meal Salmon Tartare: served with toasted baguette this was refreshing and balanced... it reminded us of a lobster roll in some ways, but better Nashville Hot Fish: for the love of Poseidon, ORDER THIS!! Two generous pieces of crispy battered fish on toasted brioche accompanied by house made fries and a spicy aioli... spectacular Seared Scallops w/ Charred Leeks: perfectly seared and a well executed dish Roasted Cauliflower w/ Feta & Caramelized Onions: excellent vegetarian nosh, highly recommend as well SERVICE: Great! Friendly and attentive staff; they will help you with making the right menu selections if you're unsure Phenomenal dinner....A+++

Yelp
It was refreshing to be able to get a intimate / fine dining experience for such a reasonable price. Tonight we ordered: the octopus, the grilled salmon, the cheese croquettes, a side of charred bread, and for drinks the Deep Purple & Princess and the PeaShoot. In total came out to about $96. -The octopus was cooked wonderfully - not chewy or cold. The potatoes, and sauce balanced out everything in this dish. -The grilled salmon ... where do I start... A+. Perfect crisp on the skin and not over cooked. The lentils and celery root puree... well If I could make this myself, exactly the same, I would be happy eating this enitre dish everyday. -The Cheese Croquettes, 10/10. The sauce had to be one of my favorite things (at one point it looked like we were done with the dish, so the waitress took away the "empty" bowl... had to ask the waitress for the plate back :p because you know, use the remaining sauce to dip [the charred] bread in). I would order these again and would definitely reccomend. - The Charred bread: get this to dip into the croquette sauce, or the octopus sauce, or clean up the remaining puree on the grilled salmon plate, or to eat solo... you cant go wrong with this. The drinks. Were perfect for what we ordered. I ordered the princess and the peashoot and my partner ordered the deep purple - both recommended by our waitress- tried both. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of floral tastes, but somehow [all the props to the creator of this menu and the mixologist who executed it impeccably], these cocktails managed to present the perfect blend of aromatics + amount of liquor, so that I wasnt overwhelmed by either of these drinks floral elements (granted, I dont think the princess and the peashoot has a specified floral element, aside from the garnish). BONUS: at the end of our meal right before we were going to pay for everything the mixologist brought out a refreshing & palate cleansing, Complimentary flute of Yuzu Sake. Nice way to end the meal and night. Decided to come here as a last minute idea, and was not disappointed. Everything was presented beautifully and the atmosphere was relaxed a bit upscale - nothing intimidating. The food was great, both of us left feeling full- not overstuffed. Perfect date spot/perfect small group of people spot. CASH ONLY; but I believe I heard the waitress say to someone else that they (may?) accept something else, venmo(?)

Yelp
Incredible meal. We had the crudo, the smoked fish dip, the octopus, and the mussels, and everything blew us away. The drinks were exceptional as well. We'll definitely be back soon

Carmine D.

Yelp
I just can't see the raves about this place, or their other place Lost and Found. I guess I'm just too old to appreciate the nonsense that you have to put up with here such as NO credit Cards accepted, Bad Seating, and tiny portions of food. Sorry but it's not for me.

Anthony C.

Yelp
Sorry but I just don't get it. small Tapa sized plates that are too expensive, NO Credit Cards accepted, and the seating is terrible. So what's the thrill of coming here? I don't get it!

Cameron S.

Yelp
Honestly this place has a great atmosphere and awesome presentation, but I'll be honest I didn't get much flavor throughout the dishes. I ordered the tuna crudo Octopus Duck wings Caeser salad I just didn't get a lot of flavor from it. Caeser salad was ok. Everything was fresh jsut missing flavor.

Yelp
Bartender Steve, I discovered pre-hurricane Sandy at what is now Grotto Di Fucco... Used to be Caffe Laguna and anointed him "The Dark Night" of bartenders. His skills are completely badass but he is under the radar. Drinks are different, insanely creative and delicious. Also has a the perfect personality to bring everyone there together. It's might as well be "soul food" cocktails. Long Beach is lucky he's remained local and didn't become a highly paid free agent signing by a bar in NYC! (could have been an Antonio Brown, but he's more Le'Veon Bell : ) Ambiance is intimate relaxed and friendly. You will have new friends by the time you leave. I haven't eaten here yet, but everyone there always is pleased. But I can vouche that the drinks, atmoshpere, other patrons and bartender are amazing.
google avatar

Basia L.

Yelp
Just, stellar. The food was cooked to perfection. The drinks are different, delicious and strong! The ambiance is intimate and warm. Our server was attentive and quick! I will definitely be back! **this place is CASH ONLY. They do not take reservations and they're usually packed. Their dishes are tappas style- so about 3-4 dishes would suffice for two. It's a little on the pricier side but SO worth it.
google avatar

Julia C.

Yelp
Love this spot. Always amazing cocktails, chicken liver is fantastic, octopus is always great, chorizo and shrimp and mussels too, and every other dish we've tried we've loved.
google avatar

Karaline T.

Yelp
July 2018 Very good, as usually. My family love to go to Lost At Sea. We love the idea of having a bunch of small plates instead of a few large dishes. With small plates, it allows us to try more things and have a greater variety Update: March 2019 I love their soups for the winter time. Although, I miss the seafood salad (from the summertime).
google avatar

Alexandra M.

Yelp
Super cute place, if you blink you'll miss it! The scallops were probably the best I've had, some of the drinks were great, others not to my taste but I am not huge on liquor anyways. I did not like the oysters Rockefeller, they had a strong cheese, maybe Gorgonzola? The waiter did not know, but I had to send them back. Their menu changes all the time so I would love to go back and give it another go.
google avatar

Andy F.

Yelp
I was looking for a romantic dinner night with my wife. This is a cozy place the food was delicious. They only have small plates and I love it. I'll definitely come back and recommend it to all my friends and family.

Yelp
Great place! Great food lots of new flavors restores and originality.. small friendly comfortable. Nice staff. You won't be disappointed

Yelp
This little Gem came to the neighborhood about 18months ago and we are sure glad they did. If you like seafood this is the place for you another breath of fresh air on the Westend of Long Beach

Rana S.

Yelp
Food is consistently amazing with cocktails that wow! Service is always stellar - attentive and on point. Always has a cozy feeling. Never disappoints!

Yelp
Have been meaning to check this place out forever and finally got around to it. It didn't disappoint. Everything we tried was delicious and unique. I can't wait to go back.

Yelp
Our experience here was amazing to say the least! We live here in Long Beach and it was our first time visiting this tucked away gem. When we walked in we were pleasantly surprised by the intimate yet cozy setting. It felt like we were at a friends house that's how comfortable we felt. The decor was definitely a nautical theme but very rustic which I happen to love. We were greeted by our server who took us to our table. Even though the restaurant is smaller the tables were nicely spaced and we did not feel cramped. Okay so let's start of with the drinks! They offered sangria, wine and beer and also cocktails. The cocktails all sounded delicious but I went with a Ring Pop! The bartender took time to craft this delicious drink and brought it to our table. All i can say is wow!!! It tasted like cherry liquorish. We then started with the calamari and PEI mussels. The calamari was fried to perfection with a garlic aioli and parsley infusion drizzled over it and the broth in the mussels was drinkable (by the way they give you metal straws to drink said broth) ! The bread was flavorful, seasoned with perfection and crisp . There was plenty to dip into the broth! Last but not least we ordered the fried hake fish which tasted like heaven!!! Also for five dollars you can buy the kitchen a round which of course we had to do two because the food was insanely good!!!At the end of the dinner they brought us complimentary Japanese limoncello drinks as a token of their appreciation . This is our new favorite spot and we will definitely come back with friends and family! Thank you for a wonderful experience Lost at Sea!

Rona F.

Yelp
Thank you Steve ! The best 65th birthday gathering for all our friends. The 5 course meal with wine pairings was spectacular! Chef created a truly wonderful dinner. You made Johanna's evening memorable

Samantha S.

Yelp
This place makes me speechless. I've had the pleasure of dining here multiple times but just attended their 7 fishes wine dinner and I am still dreaming over it. The highlights were the salmon crudo, the salad w calamari (YES I said salad), the fennel ICE CREAM and the pasta with pancetta and clam which was the best pasta I have ever had in my life. Alecia is an INCREDIBLE and thoughtful chef and Steve is a master of alcohol! I don't know how but I'm going to need to get that pasta recipe.

Yelp
If you've never been to Lost at Sea...You're an IDIOT. My girl Taylor is the absolute, most amazing, most extraordinary, most spectacular server east of the Mississippi. Don't even get me started on SteveO, either. He makes some cocktails that'll blow ya balls right off. I wish he was my Dad. In a way, I feel he is. The Dad that taught me the ways of the liquor. And my boy Luke, my brother in Christ. Luke catches all of the shrimp, oysters, flukes, hake, clams, striped bass, blowfish tails, lobster, Caesar salads, large mouth bass, krill, and seahorses himself. An extremely friendly and righteous young man. Lost at Sea has revolutionized the seafood game. I feel nothing but sadness for the folks who haven't been here. RIP Stan Lee.
google avatar

Vanessa K.

Yelp
This review is purely for the amazing cocktails because we had just stuffed ourselves silly at their fantastic sister restaurant, Lost & Found. In fact the food was so good over there, that we were sold on trying the cocktails here. Small intimate place with only a few seats at the bar, but if you manage to find a seat there, don't even hesitate! Almost every cocktail there is well put together and delicious! We really enjoyed every drink we had there from vodka cocktail to mezcal and bourbon varieties. Just trust you're in good hands there! We had a great chat with the bartender there, we could've stayed there for hours (wait, maybe we did, haha). The restaurant though small, felt intimate but not crowded. Great music, good service, we look forward to coming back and trying the food!

Yelp
OMG I am obsessed with Lost at Sea. Every single thing we ordered was cooked to perfection. Crudo, oregenatta soft shell crab special, scallops, shrimp... my mouth is watering just writing this. Stellar. Great wine list and hands down, best cocktails in Long Beach by a mile. Sit back and enjoy, this place is a TREAT!
