"Opened in 2016 by chef Tim Carey with partner Santos Uy (of Mignon and Papilles), this mid-level, casually refined seafood restaurant paired thoughtful seafood plates with Uy’s extensive wine knowledge. It earned favorable early press — LA Weekly’s Besha Rodell even said she’d “rather eat here than at half the slickly perfect restaurants in town” — and was regarded as one of greater Los Angeles’s most underrated dining options. Nevertheless, its tucked-away location a couple of blocks north of Colorado in Old Pasadena, combined with the arrival of fast-casual competitors like Fishwives on Fair Oaks and Mark Peel’s Prawn, made it difficult to sustain a consistent local audience. After more than two years on Holly Street, the restaurant is set to close at the end of this week, with Friday likely to be the final night of service." - Farley Elliott
