The Best Cocktail Bars in Palm Springs, According to Eater Editors | Eater LA

"Go Go Bird’s Brandon Kida and longtime LA barman Rhino Williams partnered to bring approachable American fare and well-made cocktails to the low desert. Anyone can find a hearty dish to eat from day to night with Kida’s menu, while Williams’s cocktails swing between classic and inventive. Try the Singapore Sling made with gin, Benedictine, Grand Marnier, cherry Heering, bitters, and pineapple and lemon juices under the Coolers section." - Mona Holmes

Acclaimed LA Chef Brandon Kida Opened Lost Property in Palm Springs | Eater LA

"Opening just ahead of high season, this new restaurant and bar sits on the ground floor of the Skylark Hotel, a midcentury property built in 1956 by architect Howard Lapham and purchased by hotelier Amitesh Damudar in October 2016 (Damudar also owns the retro-chic Tangerine hotel in Burbank). It has been quietly open since September as the second outpost of the brand Williams launched in Hollywood in 2014; Williams recently flipped the original location into a vinyl bar. Brandon Kida and barman Rhino Williams are the duo behind the operation; Kida and Williams previously worked together at Hinoki & the Bird and Gunsmoke. "Rhino and I have worked on projects over the years and are great friends," Kida tells Eater. "When the opportunity to collaborate with him on a new space at the Skylark came up, I jumped at the chance." Kida is not cooking on-site daily but will travel to Palm Springs frequently to "fine-tune the menu," he says. The compact 700-square-foot space seats 55 across indoor and outdoor areas, offering a pure vacation vibe — from velvet high-back stools along a butcher-block bar to outdoor seating overlooking sky-high palm trees. The dining room is open daily for breakfast and lunch and serves dinner on Fridays and Saturdays beginning at 5 p.m.; general hours are daily 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m., and until 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. Morning highlights include breakfast sandwiches layered with fennel sausage, egg, and cheddar on a Martin's potato bun and Parmesan baked eggs with Gruyere, bacon, and chives, plus pulled espresso drinks. Lunch and dinner overlap with plush bao slicked with lemon aioli and stuffed with crispy maitake mushrooms and cabbage slaw; a selection of tinned seafood served with housemade accouterments like onion dip, chimichurri, pickled red onions, and crostini; and a Maine lobster roll. Williams's cocktail program swings between classic and inventive: find a Singapore Sling made with gin, benedictine, Grand Marnier, cherry Heering, bitters, and pineapple and lemon juices under the Coolers section, while the Colorado Bulldog — vodka, Kahlua, Coke, and half and half — is one of nine Arousers on an extensive menu." - Cathy Chaplin

This restaurant, set in a remodeled midcentury classic hotel, is a hidden gem in Palm Springs. It’s small but charming, with a cute bar and a lovely terrace seating area. The fried chicken was one of the best I’ve ever had, and the burger was also great. I had a California Pinot Noir that was excellent, and my husband enjoyed a great Mexican beer. The service was great—friendly and attentive. Highly recommend! Update: breakfast is even better! Don’t miss the baked eggs and the chicken sando!

Google
Really cool little gem of a place. Great drinks and food with a nice selection of liquors and wine. Everyone’s super friendly and the bartender was able to accommodate my ask for a not “too sweet” 🍹 Main Ivy cocktail: thank you! Went well with a kale salad. Came for brunch, and next time if it’s not too hot, will sit outside. A seat at the bar is always fun though.

The food was great at this place, we got brunch and it had good options. I tried the French toast, it was tasty and the miso glaze was good, not too sweet. Others ordered the spicy omellete and burrito, they all enjoyed their meals. The place had good vibes, very summery and nice. It’s inside a motel which at first was weird but the cafe itself has a nice charm.

I suspect it’s a matter of time before getting into Lost Property will be difficult, and this review will probably help with that. Haha We had a delightful dinner here before a show downtown. The restaurant is beautiful and tastefully decorated in a Mod 60’s style, attached to Skylark Hotel. The menu is small and limited but contains several interesting choices. We started with some tasty chicken Gyoza with a spicy ginger soy sauce. The lobster roll was delicious accompanied by crispy pomme frites. Companion had some nicely done fried chicken. Service was stellar! On the pricy side for smaller plates but most enjoyable food and atmosphere.

Delicious! Just treated ourselves to a tasty Jidori Chicken Gyoza and can’t wait for the Kale Salad and Tin Cup! Easy parking, nice indoor and outdoor vibes, incredible Blood & Smoke and Airmail cocktail. We liked Blood & Smoke better tbh. And love, love, love the record player and chill mix of fun vibes (40s era standards and UK ‘60s rock) coming from different albums. You can take your drinks and sit by the fire pit. Owners from New York and other is very worldly with a fun accent from Whales. Some people here have reservations and others don’t, but very clean, friendly, upscale yet casual place! Funny and sweet bartenders and servers too.

Nice waiters, but by far the worst restaurant we’ve been to after living for 10 years in Palm Springs. Ordered three meals, and only one of them was even partially edible, although the side dish was so highly spiced it too remained. No compensation was offered for the two meals which were left completely uneaten. Beware.

Google
Dog-friendly restaurant with brunch options. Delicious selections in a fun setting. Everyone was happy with their choices, especially the espresso martinis! We tried both baked egg options and the breakfast smash. Highly recommend.

Staff were nice and considerate. Food was very flavorful. We did have an issue where the pork sausage was undercooked, but that was remedied quickly. Ambiance is nice with a beautiful outdoor space.

Yelp
We came here for breakfast since it is conveniently located at Skylark, the hotel we stayed at. We were seated immediately upon arriving here at 9 am. The host/server was very friendly and was very knowledgeable about the menu. As we sat down, we couldn't help but notice how sleek and trendy the restaurant is. It is a small place but they really know how to utilize their space. Many folks who are here are just started out their day, lots of coffee and mimosa talks, definitely lots of positive happy vibes! They have a simple menu. They have toasts, baked eggs, smashed burger, salads, shared bites, burgers, or cocktails. We were just getting our day started so I got a breakfast smashed, chocolate croissant, fries fries, and coffee. The breakfast smashed burger was one of the best smashed burgers I've ever had. So juicy, full of flavor, and the sunny side egg cooked to perfection. The chocolate croissant is very good too! I also like the fact that it is not very crowded, a nice lil oasis away from the hustle and bustle in downtown Palm Springs. A must stop if you ever stay at the Skylark!

Yelp
Extremely poor service overall, very slow and has to ask for utensils twice. Maybe sitting inside during a morning brunch would give off a more enticing vibe, but we sat outside for dinner and it was a bizarre scene (eerily quiet, disconnected from the restaurant, and awkwardly in the hotel courtyard steps away from guest hotel room doors). Just overall very weird. Cocktail menu is overly focused on gin (seriously not one tequila option?). Steak was fine. Fries were limp and cold. Gyoza was fine.

Yelp
Lost Property delivers on flavor with absolutely delicious food and cocktails--so good that we'd return just for those alone. The pricing is reasonable, making it a great spot for a night out without breaking the bank. However, the service left a lot to be desired. Our table of five only received four waters, and our waiter didn't even notice until we pointed it out. Cocktails took far too long to arrive, despite us clearly seeing them sitting on the counter while our waiter lounged at the bar. It felt like the staff was more focused on collecting a paycheck than providing attentive service. That being said, the food and drinks were outstanding, and if they can step up the speed and attentiveness of their waitstaff, this place would be top-tier. Hopefully, management takes note because the kitchen and bar are doing their part exceptionally well.

Yelp
Nice little place- not many interior seats which could be a problem when the weather's not great but in general it has an attractive atmosphere with a nice bar. The menu is small but good; & the server was extremely pleasant; especially strong on breakfast/brunch items.

Yelp
The restaurant 'Lost Property' at the tres chic MCM hotel The Skylark in Palm Springs was "kinda perfect" and knew EXACTLY what to do with us! 'Rhino' has clearly brought his NYC and LA savoir faire to the desert and is teaching his staff how to do what he does (here's looking at you, Sebastian)! Our cocktails and dinner were excellent and we can't wait to return!

Yelp
What a beautiful place this area has everything to it. Outdoor dining front seat dining in a nice dining area so there's three options to choose from. I chose the indoor dining area and it is very cute., I decided on the breakfast Smashburger. The service is friendly and the menu was electric and healthy. The smash burger was beyond amazing the fresh sausage patty with eggs over easy covered the patty inam way that was absolute deliciousness . The drop coffee was fresh and smooth. A great place in Little Italy and up and coming area and close to uptown.

Yelp
This was our first time tonight....an absolute "must return" kind of place. The wine pours are generous, the menu is tight but delicious. Between the four of us, we had smoked salmon appetizer, olives appetizer, branzino entre, chicken potstickers, and Brussel sprouts. Each one was magnificent. We will definitely return! The atmosphere is perfect; the service was knowledgeable and attentive. This is our kind of place!

Yelp
We were in town for 1 night only and staying at the hotel attached to this restaurant. Found it by happy accident. The food, service, ambiance, and cocktails were all incredible, truly. The bread pudding dessert really sealed the deal, well worth the trip to come for a dinner. Friday/Saturday only for dinners right now.

Yelp
Great new spot with the best craft cocktails. Very cool addition to the neighborhood and Mark pours the best cocktails! Definitely a go to spot now!

Yelp
This place is a total hidden gem and I love it. Had the most fun brunch with a friend there. Service is excellent and the owner was very attentive and great to talk to. I love everything they have going on in terms of supporting music as well. We had a bottle of champagne but then they had a special way of doing mimosas table side that made them extra special. I loved the privacy overlooking the pool and the food was delish. Crispy chicken sandwich paired with champagne is top tier.

Yelp
Food and service very good. Food fresh and tasty. Atmosphere casual. The 5 star rating is accurate.

Yelp
Giving them 5 stars because food was so tasty I enjoyed dinner and then came back the next day for brunch. Loved eating out on the breezeway and enjoying my meal. The next morning I especially loved the eggs and toast points dish and the bacon was great. The service does need work. At dinner we were seated by a nice young man but it took a long time until waiter came with water and menus. Once she clued in to us it was great and she was excellent. Next morning, not so good, a nice young man seated us and didn't give us menus. After 10 minutes I went to the front and got two for us. We ordered, they brought the right stuff to hubs and the wrong stuff to me and seemed confused about it. Then 10 minutes later I got my stuff, but never got the coffee I ordered at the beginning. If they work out the service quirks this would be one of my top Palms Springs places. The woman waiter was great but the young men helping us were more out of it and not paying attention really though nice.

Yelp
Stopped for a quick bite. Breakfast sandwich was amazing and way more filling than i thought it would be. They cook the sausage patties to crispy perfection on a soft potato bun. House made cold brew was strong and had me buzzing. The staff was super friendly. Thanks yall

Yelp
Great place for a nice outdoor relaxing brunch. Good service and food. Will definitely be returning.

Yelp
I stayed at the Skylark and it was a really beautiful hotel, but the restaurant was really the gem! I've been in the industry for years and the menu and execution of the menu were seriously simply highest quality yet at a reasonable price point. I had the tin cup and the gyoza for dinner and inhaled them. The cocktail was simple and clean and perfect with the food. The next morning I had breakfast and the smash burger was so crave-worthy. I also had a cappuccino with all the foam and the parfait was loaded with goodies--I hate a "parfait" with 90% yogurt and one tablespoon of granola. This parfait was all goodies. Thank you, team, for the great experience! I'll be back!!

Yelp
Points lost for their no dog policy. It's lost on me at Lost Property how they could be anti-dog, but maybe the owners anticipate bad behavior from tourists. This is a dog- friendly town. I don't get the knee-jerk, passive aggressive response of the staff to my 7lb dog in a stroller. This place is likely appealing to out of towners so they don't care about the locals. I wish them luck. I'll go to every other place in town as I always have.

Yelp
Came for drinks-- the variety of cocktails are deliciously balanced, and the ice cubes are even stamped in different patterns -- seriously the best cocktails in all of Palm Springs! The owner, Rhino, is a lovely human being and the staff were all really great!

Mike C.

Yelp
We're locals. We have our routines. But today, we decided to try Lost Property (at the Skylark Hotel) for the first time. The menu, while not huge, has some unique options, including a spin on avocado toast with feta, egg whites, baby spinach, and pesto, and a couple of baked egg dishes (one with gruyere, bacon, and chives) served with a great-looking baguette. I'm not an egg person, so I was pleased to see a fried chicken sandwich and smash burger on the breakfast/lunch menu. I had the burger at 9:30 a.m.--convention be damned! It rivals the more famous burger a few doors to the north and is served with twice-fried frites that I understand are homemade. The space is cute, the service was friendly and efficient, and the food was served hot and tasty. The prices were fair, especially compared to other places in town. It's a keeper for us and think it's worth spreading the word.

Yelp
Such a lovely Palm Springs experience at Lost Property! The cocktails and food were so great, we had to come back the next day for breakfast.

Yelp
I have lived in Palm Springs for most of my life and was looking for a new place to have drink and a bite. I noticed that the Skylark hotel has been newly renovated with beautiful pool, a cool airstream and a new restaurant ; Lost Property. I decided to go in solo for breakfast , just to check it out, and I was blown away. The food was on point and the service was 5 star. The wait staff and the bartender, were so warm and welcoming. I ordered their baked eggs which had a really flavorful tomato sauce and fresh burrata. OMG! it was soooo good. I also ordered a macchiato, which most people mess up, but it was delicious. I am so glad that I found this new spot and will definitely be coming back.

Jen J.

Yelp
Very cute space and excellent service. We had the trout tin app, brussel sprouts, bahn mi, and both salads and LOVED all of it! Would highly recommend!!

Ilona H.

Yelp
an absolute amazing experience, the food, the drinks, the service! Everything so delicious and fresh, 5 stars is not enough, having drinks in the cozy cabanas afterwords is just what you need to enjoy life. And, it's super dog friendly. Can't wait to come back.

Christine O.

Yelp
We were there for breakfast on recent trip to Palm Springs. Food and service were absolutely outstanding. Kayla our server and her co-hort were very gracious. Food was *chef's kiss*. There were two 9-10 yo girls eating at the bartop and staff were so patient and kind; kids were great too (parents were just outside at a table and checked on them frequently!). Highly recommend!

Barbara H.

Yelp
This cozy gem right around the corner from my house, who knew! It did not disappoint. Friendly, caring atmosphere. These guys really know how to make the simplest foods taste Great! It will be my new favorite and I have yet to try the lobster Benedict that all my friends recommended. But I will

Joe Ann S.

Yelp
I forgot to mention this delightful restaurant is inside the Skylark Hotel. I promise it won't disappoint.

Yelp
Two people greeted me immediately as I stepped inside this morning. The weather was already hot and the temperature inside was just right - not over chilled which is important for a poolside location. The corner location is bright while giving you a break from direct sunlight. Clean. My order was placed the moment I gave it and the Chef produced two Lost Property Breakfast Smash in about 5 minutes time. Two hand made sausage patties with cheddar cheese with a fried egg on the top cooked just right. The bun texture was right for the stack- fresh but not mushy- which kept the warm juicy ingredients stacked and easy to eat. The sausage is seasoned properly NOT overly salty which helps to stay hydrated in the desert sun. The Lost Property Breakfast Smash is delicious and satisfying - it's big.
